The 26 Best Restaurants in Medellín, Colombia | Eater

"Sitting down at this restaurant is like traveling through the Amazon visiting its Indigenous communities. Chef Juan Santiago Gallego, one of the main suppliers of produce from the Amazon for several restaurants in the country, is passionate about this biodiverse territory and its seemingly inexhaustible pantry of little-known ingredients. His tasting menu showcases Amazonian flavors and produce such as copoazú (a fruit related to cacao), tucupí (hot sauce extracted from wild manioc), pirarucú (giant river fish), casabe (yuca tortilla), coca leaf, and mojojoy (palm larvae), among many others." - Liliana López Sorzano

You come here for the experience and you leave feeling fulfilled! The staff was very welcoming as well as accommodating. They spoke perfect English to guide you through the flavors of the Amazon. I loved the lore and the preparations were a work of art. Do yourself a favor and get both the experience as well as the cocktail pairing. You won’t try anything else like this! It was amazing!

The restaurant is cozy and pays homage to indigenous culture. The food was absolutely delicious, but the most important thing, is the experience. It is a huge opportunity to learn and understand Amazonian culture and how our land is deeply connected with the Amazon rainforest. They respect the natural cycles of the environment and promote Amazon conservation.

This was the most unique dining experience I have ever had! We had the 11 course meal and our minds were literally blown. The amount of attention and detail that went into not only the food, but the decoration and presentation of each dish was unparalleled. My wife and I were in awe with every new course that came out - unique plates, colorful powders decorating the side of the dish, I could go on forever. The flavors of the food were amazing. My wife and I loved each dish more than the previous. This restaurant somehow managed to spin “different” into “delicious”. We will definitely be back every time we go to Medellin!

We had a lovely experience at the tasting menu on Colombian Valentine's day, which was the restaurant's 11 year anniversary. The menu felt very well balanced, and successfully highlighted many native ingredients.

Definitely an experience worth having. You leave here with a deep understanding and respect for the Amazonian food. Be ready to be amazed and enjoy all the flavour combinations. Diego had a very good insight on the food and took his time taking us on a journey through the Amazon forest. Will definitely be back here in the future. 😊

Wow. Amazing experience of food, culture and art. This is truly unique experience where you get to eat foods you may not normally eat and have them prepaired and displayed in such a fantastic way. Go with an open mind and Heart and trust the chef as he leads you on a journey of the Amazon.

This was the most unique experience of the whole Colombia. From the presentation of the plates, the combination of the ingredients, to the amazing service and ideal pairing selection, we enjoyed every minute we spent in La Chagra. You can feel the amount of study and love curated in each of the multiple step dinner. It’s a must do in Medellin!

Highly recommend to anyone! We had originally planned to go to El Cielo, and had come here instead - and have zero regrets on making this decision. One of the most unique and memorable dining experiences we’ve had. Not only were the dishes and ingredients unique and special, the execution was excellent, both in terms of presentation and flavors. The server was extremely attentive and shared detailed stories of each dish which we absolutely loved. Flavors and ingredients can feel risky to some, but 100% a risk worth taking
