Why Tucson's Desert Food Scene Is Unlike Anywhere Else in America | Bon Appétit

"A newer project from Wendy Garcia, this is where I can get her signature vegan and vegetarian offerings alongside meat, and a visit quickly turns into a feast: a green chicken enchilada topped with red sauce and a fried egg; carnitas and ropa vieja tacos; a gorgeous vegetable plate with fresh figs, fried cheese, local pistachios, and cholla buds; tepary beans with queso fresco and fresh green chiltepín peppers; beef and chicken tamales; and another vegetable platter of locally foraged wild mushrooms, jackfruit ropa vieja, huitlacoche, and salad on a wide wheat tortilla. The pace is overwhelming and decadent in the best way, a reflection of Garcia’s nonstop, attentive energy and her affection for the landscape and its foodways." - ByVon Diaz

Google
La Chaitería is a must-visit Menlo Park gem near A Mountain—locally owned, scratch-made, and full of creative dishes rotating dishes. We ordered the Duck Chilaquiles, Mahi-Mahi Fish Tacos, and Tamales (Carne Con Chile and Chicken with Green Chilies), all served with creamy Refried Beans with Cotija Cheese, Spanish Rice, and Side Salad of Fresh Greens with Balsamic Vinaigrette. The Duck Chilaquiles were the true standout—slow-cooked duck for 3 days with onions, poblanos, beans, and eggs. The Fish Tacos were light, perfectly cooked and flavorful. And the Chicken & Beef Tamales were comforting and delicious. Drinks are also impressive: scratch-made, including lattes, aguas frescas, smoothies and fresh-pressed juices. They offer both vegan and meat options, including vegan chilaquiles, jackfruit-based dishes, and vegetable-forward tacos. It’s an excellent place for mixed-diet groups. Fantastic, fast, friendly service and great outdoor seating out front and on a covered back patio. And a great vibe with colorful murals and art. If you’re searching for fresh, scratch-made Mexican food in Tucson, La Chaitería deserves to be at the top of your list! Creative menu, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, and the Best Chilaquiles in Tucson! Highly recommended!

Google
Super delicious lunch in a low-key spot. Great flavors -- very fresh and homemade. The mole chilaquiles I got were great and the tamales that my mom got were like cake. It's counter service, but the staff are very welcoming. If you're hiking Tumamoc Hill, this is a good spot for a bite before or after!

Google
Passed by a couple times and had to stop! Grabbed some Cuban tacos, all the salsas from the bar and a matchata (Matcha Horchata). Plenty of vegan and well marked gluten free food on the menu. Definitely will return when I’m in the area again. Cute vibe with all the murals and all staff was very warm and welcoming. My kind of place!

Joshua L.

Google
Wow! I like this even more than their sister restaurant Tumerico, as La Chaiteria has meat options along with vegan fare. Everything is absolutely incredible. On my first visit I had tacos with bone marrow which was some of the best meat I've ever eaten.

Monique A.

Google
Everyone is so welcoming! The food always comes out so fast, hot, and fresh. I’m eating more plant-based right now and almost everything can substituted with a plant based alternative. I also can’t get enough of their peanut butter latte. A must stop if you’re in the Tuscon area.

Google
Everything is great! Food: the chips are perfectly crisp and fresh tasting. The salsa is delicious. Carne con nopalitos was our favorite. I don’t often like nopales because of their texture, but this was really good. The chilaquiles were also very good, but more of a peppery sauce flavor. The salsa bar is a great addition. Drinks: The hibiscus/jamaica agua fresca was the best I’ve had. Instead of just hibiscus it had spices - like ginger, cinnamon, & cardamon maybe. I liked the turmeric lemonade, but the turmeric was pretty strong- wouldn’t recommend for most unless you are sick or need to kick some inflammation Service: very friendly. Greeted immediately and the menu was explained along with best selling dishes. Atmosphere: cute, love the small covered patio outside too with some flower bushes

Michelle T.

Google
This is one of the best spots in Tucson! I tend to order my favorite dishes over and over: Cuban tacos, the Frida Kahlo tostadas, and the juevos rancheros. But the whole menu is dreamy. They also make excellent coffee and lattes. Try the mesquite latte!

Darien A.

Google
Absolutely delicious. I almost cried eating my meal of mole chilaquiles with barbacoa. Yes I was particularly hungry but everything about this place is authentic and good quality. I love the simplicity, hand written menu, low frills set up. Quick service and friendly folks. Looking forward to trying the machaca next time. Seriously this is the best meal I have ever had in Tucson

Yelp
It's been a minute since my last visit to Chaiteria and it was good to go back! The menu has since incorporated some of the vegan menu items folks might be familiar with from Tumerico, in addition to some vegetarian dishes, they're delicious to Aquiles, Carnitas Barbacoa, etc. our group of five enjoyed an order of the Carnitas, the Barbacoa, the Frida Kahlo, vegan tostadas, birria tacos, and a bean and cheese burrito for our three-year-old daughter. Dining indoors was not ideal because the space was filled with smoke and chiles from the kitchen area, but to my surprise, they have a patio behind the building. The patio is unfortunately lacking ambience, but it was perfect for us as it was shaded and quiet. Everyone loved what their ordered. The food is just really simple and good with fresh ingredients. The front of house staff were all really welcoming and helpful.

Yelp
This is a staple restaurant in my household, and we come here often for a quick breakfast, or to meet up with family and friends. Recently I've been really enjoying the huitlacoche tacos, horchata latte, and the fresh-pressed juices. My wife enjoyed the fish tacos this time. Something for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Honestly you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is always fast and friendly, and they're happy to make recommendations.
google avatar

Erick D.

Yelp
The La Chaiteria is the sister restaurant of Tumerico, but unlike Tumerico, it also offers meat options. Like Tumerico, the food here is excellent. I'll admit I was reluctant to try Tumerico at first because in past experiences, paying for a vegan or vegetarian meal often left me feeling hungry. That hasn't been the case here the flavors are bold, creative, and filling, and La Chaiteria continues that same high standard while giving the option to add meat. Service was fast and friendly, though keep in mind it's counter service. The space also has a small market with drinks and other goodies that make it worth a browse while you wait.

Emily O.

Yelp
Beef birria tacos were insane! Best I ever had. Service was quick and friendly. We enjoyed our food outside on the patio.

Je A.

Yelp
This is the place!!! If you want a great taste of red Chile, and huge, shareable dishes, come here! I'm back again and still digging it. Great vegan menu as well. Shared a chilaquiles with 2 egs n beef with my lil woman, and IM fULL!!

Yelp
Honestly everything from this place is absolutely delicious. Every time I go the food is fresh the drinks are cool and the service is great. The food always comes with a side of salad and rice & beans.... Just so good. Just a very lovely place and it's so cute, I love the murals they have and the bulletin board has a lot of local community information. A plus is having their own salsa bar that's fresh and tasty. I can't wait to come back again.

Roberto A.

Yelp
Great food, great staff. Loved this place. 10/10. The attention to detail when taking your order was amazing.
google avatar

Chelsea J.

Yelp
I can't believe I waited so long to try this place. The food was incredible. I ordered the carnitas plate with all salad as my side. The carnitas was nice and crispy and the salad has the most delicious dressing. It was busy today, Saturday, for lunch, the parking lot was full. We also ordered the vegan ropa vieja at the recommendation of the cashier and the flavor was outstanding. I have to take off a star because I was almost done eating my food when the ropa vieja finally showed up. I also wished the portion size of my carnitas was larger. I loved this place though and will be back for sure!

Yelp
Always a great stop. Amazing food, great service. Everything was perfect and timely. The location is a bit out of the way, and looks a bit random but don't let that fool you. Highly recommend all their locations!

Yelp
WOW! I met a friend here today. She recommended it as a must-try in Tucson. This cute restaurant is nestled in Menlo Park and offers the best food I have had in a very long time. They have a menu that offers something for everyone with a plethora of vegetarian and vegan options. I ordered an iced horchata latte and the Barbacoa plate. Everything came out very quickly. The latte was tasty and not too sweet! The cashier also recommends the mesquite latte. The Barbacoa plate came with beans, rice, a salad and tortillas. Everything was EXCELLENT! The salad was fresh and bright and made for a more well-rounded meal compared to traditional Mexican dishes. The rice was good with some veggies incorporated as well. The Barbacoa was SO good -- the flavor was so so delicious and the meat was super tender! I was so happy with the entire meal and devoured all of it. I can't wait to go back to Tucson to try more of their items! What an amazing gem. All of the employees were kind and seemed to really care about my experience here. Will recommend again and again!

Yelp
A staple in the Menlo Park neighborhood! This is the spot to come to after your Sunday walk up Tumamoc. La Chaiteria has an expansive menu with breakfast, vegan, and non-vegan entrees. I love the fresh juices, especially the green Verde life. My favorite dish and one that never gets old because of the flavors and portion, is the Ropa Vieja. Im not even vegan and I gravitate towards this every time. The jackfruit carnitas is perfect. The portions here are generous for every dish and I wouldn't expect to go home hungry. The best thing about this location is the outdoor seating. I've brought pets to sit outside with us and it makes for the perfect day.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
La Chaiteria is a hidden gem close to everything downtown. Stopping here after walking Tumamoc is the perfect morning. The Verde Life juice is a juice with just enough sweet and greens. I always order the huevos rancheros or the ropa vieja. The food here, similar to Tumerico, is fresh and delicious. There are a lot of vegan and gluten free options here. The staff are friendly and efficient. Always a great stop.
google avatar

Alexiz A.

Yelp
This is a go to place right after tumamoc! The food is light and flavorful. The portions are big! It's a bit pricey for breakfast but the food is so worth it. My favorite is the mesquite latte. The service is fast and they have a nice variety of salsas. The dishes also include vegetables/salad which always makes me feel like im making healthier food choices. They have alot to choose from!
google avatar

Yelp
As someone from more east and central Mexico, it can be hard to find Mexican food more authentic to the country and even outside of Sonoran-influenced cuisine. When it comes to La Chaiteria, they do an excellent job of combining the diverse flavors and pallets of Mexico, with inspiration from all across Latin America and even South Asia. The food's unique flavor composition makes for a joyful eating experience unique to the restaurant. In addition, they offer vegan, vegetarian, and meat options for almost every plate! The service is always impeccable. The staff are always nice and ready to serve you. It's a good sign when staff are smiling even in the kitchen. The ambiance is created with colorful murals, a community board, and a market-style set up with goods for purchasing but also their own ingredients. I recommend the mesquite latte and vegan chilaquiles.

Yelp
Had brunch and it was very delicious. The coffee was perfect and the burrito had tremendous flavor and was perfectly seasoned. Will visit again and again!

Yelp
I stopped in Friday when I was at the 4 street fair. I was expecting street fair food. I had a Barbacoa burrito and my sister had a Pollo Asado burrito. I was totally amazed t both burritos were superb! I have been a snow bird in Tucson for10 years staying 5 winter months These were the best burritos I have EVER had. This size was perfect, the meat was Generous and they made them outside on the grill. The service was out of control amazing! From the order taker to the burrito griller. I didn't even believe small restaurants had quality service anymore. PS I retired from 40 yrs retail! A shaded quaint porch to eat on . I am having an open house in January for some MN. Visitors and these Burritos will be my main dish! My biggest complaint is they are very far from me! .
google avatar

Monica E.

Yelp
This is old school traditional, and I love it. I so appreciate stumbling upon a well loved restaurant driven by what appears to be a family concept. There is ample parking in the gravel lot, and there is indoor and outdoor seating. It feels like a tiny warehouse or an off the grid cafe, with a cozy feel about it. There are beuatiful paintings/murals and the space has a wide open, welcoming energetic feel to it. And it was nice to see people out on the patio with their pups. The menu is glorious! In addition to having fresh juices, aguas fescas and lattes, they have range of vegan and vegetarian options. The duck pozole sounds amazing, but I have yet to try it. The turmeric lemonade feels like it is giving you a burst of life! It has an amazing depth of flavor while still tasting light and refreshing. I highly recommend the chicken mole plate. It is served with yellow rice full of vegetables, including carrots and broccoli, a glorious spinach salad with zucchini and soft beans. The mole is more spice then chocolate forward. The food is beautifully plated and is always bursting with color (the sign of a diversified plate). All of the flavors meld very well together. Everything fits like a perfect marriage. And the team is friendly and attentive. You certainly feel like you have been welcomed into a family's kitchen.

Yelp
Giant breakfast burrito platter with salad, rice, and beans - can split 1 order by 2-4 people. But it's $22 including chai and tip. I was expecting more of a smaller burrito for $6. There are places like that down the block. It's cute, but there are More upscale places that cost less downtown. Vegan options,

Yelp
You know what's awesome? When a restaurant doesn't just live up to the hype, but actually surpasses it. La Chaiteria manages to do that! I've been a longtime fan of Tumerico, and kept meaning to go check out the new place, but never quite got around to it until today. The recent awards hype put La Chaiteria back on top of my "To Try" list, and I'm thrilled I did. Some of the breakfast and lunch offerings will likely be familiar to folks who've dined at Tumerico before, but the Chaiteria menu is larger and features a wider variety of vegan, vegetarian, and meat dishes. I had a bit of choice paralysis for a moment, to be honest! My friend and I got the pastor tacos (jackfruit carnitas!) and the Oaxacan Chilaquiles. Both were, as expected, absolutely delicious. She and I fell completely silent when our food arrived because we were incapable of not focusing on the phenomenal food. The pastor tacos pack some heat, so the salad and rice are a much appreciated counter to the spice. The Oaxacan Chilaquiles were a new dish for me -- the sauce was a deeply rich mole instead of a red or green salsa, and I loved it. The location is great too! It's lovely to eat excellent food on a sunny patio with a perfect view of A Mountain. La Chaiteria is a must-go local gem!

Yelp
This place is a diamond in the rough. - Good food. I would say great but the carne asada meat was a bit dry and tough. - Plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. - Great service. - Nice laid back atmosphere, inside and out.
google avatar

Karla M.

Yelp
Food was the bomb once again, I tried something new called Salma Hayek burrito and it was amazing! Vegan too! Service was great! Ambiance absolutely what I like when I want to eat good food with great people and music. Clean too!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
I tried both the chicken and beef tamales, and my husband's barbacoa plate - all amazing. Lots of prominently advertised vegan options too.
google avatar

Isaac A.

Yelp
I wish I remembered the name of what I preferred but all I can say it was delicious and please reference the photo. The portion size was gigantic. The quality and freshness of ingredients was truly remarkable. Their selection of vegan options was fantastic. The staff helped picked which options to with and were very kind. Def get a smoothie! Delicious and hearty
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Went to try this restaurant since I heard that they were nominated for a James Beard award, and was not disappointed. They offer a variety of Mexican food for meat eaters and vegans. They also offer a variety of delicious lattes and donuts for dessert. We got a plate of Chilaquiles Birria tacos, a strawberry frosted doughnut, and a mazapán latte. The food was delicious. I wish I would've gotten the quesabirria instead of just the tacos because I wanted to dip my tacos in the broth. The plates are a bit on the pricier side but worth it. I'll be back to try other dishes. My only complaint is that service was a bit slow and I was given the incorrect drink. I asked for an iced latte but got a hot one but overall the experience was great.
google avatar

David O.

Yelp
JHC, Wendy sure makes some great foods. My favorite restaurant in the world used to me Tumerioco Tumerico, but not is is a toss-up between LaChaiteria and Tumerico. I wish I could eat at either every day for the rest of my life.
google avatar

Christopher J.

Yelp
This place has vegan, meat, and vegetarian dishes and they are all absolutely incredible. It would be an absolute mistake to sleep on this location. We went at the beginning of April when we were in town for a wedding and it was absolutely incredible. We go every single time we're in town and are never disappointed. Service is counter style and quick. Everyone is laid back and very community minded. Very nice place to kick back for a bit.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I Came across this hidden AZ gem by mere accident when driving outside of Tucson (Which I'm glad I did!). "La Chaiteria" Restaurant Staff was helpful & friendly, indoor ambience was busy yet normal, Food was undeniably Authentic and previous yelp reviews helped made the bridge in giving this delicious restaurant 5/5! Overall, strongly recommend if you ever find yourself stopping/traveling thru Tucson AZ- you will not be disappointed at all. This Mex themed restaurant is the business in food deliverence!
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
I came here to try the Frida Kahlo tostadas because one ingredient is huitlacoche. This may have been the healthiest breakfast I've had since I moved to Tucson. It was certainly the biggest breakfast I've had. Seriously, it was enough for 2 1/2 people. With their unique take on a horchata, it was a satisfying meal. I ordered a CBD latte to go, too. This morning, La Chaiteria became one of my go to restaurants.

Tiffany K.

Yelp
Very sad to say that my partner and I were greeted with homophobia at La Chaiteria today. As we held hands looking at the menu a young man in the kitchen pointed at us and nudged another staff to look at us as they both laughed. My partner decided that we wouldn't be staying and as we left someone from the kitchen yelled "byeeeee." As a queer couple we have never felt discriminated against at either La Chaiteria or Tumerico but we felt extremely unwelcome today and so sadly, will not be back. I hope the owners are mindful about training staff or screening staff more appropriately moving forward so that their customers never have to feel like we felt today.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
5 stars for the Vegan Pozole on today's rainy day! Parking lot was full today so it was challenging to find a spot. Ordering my food today was fairly quick. I have never had vegan pozole until today and it is fantastic! I ordered it to go and it came with tortilla chips and a tortilla. For a large bowl it came out to $9. For the serving size it is definitely worth it. Can't wait to order this again! Lots of seating available inside and the rain didn't stop people from coming to this spot!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
This is a small let space which you buy at the counter, take a number, and are then served at your table. It has tables inside and a few outside as well. The menu has both vegetarian and meat options which is nice and there's a small little space for baked treats as well which I loved. I did think it was strange though that the selection seemed pretty picked over and we were there preeeetty early.. they had to have just opened. The cashier mentioned more would come later, but of course I would not be around for later. I tried a lavender sugar cookie and it was decent. The lavender was apparent and if you like sugar cookies, it would probably be up your alley. They have the take out material on the restaurant floor, which is convenient and a salsa bar on the floor too which is nice (though it'd be even better if they had pico). I got fish tacos and a prickly pear horchata. Both were really tasty and the presentation was both colorful and appealing! My husband got a smoothie and breakfast burrito (no meat). He said the smoothie was great. The burrito was cool. We went early on Saturday morning and there was only one table there which left pretty soon after we seated. Staff was very helpful in helping to decide what to order and they were also very courteous when we left, which left a great impression. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
google avatar

Saunta A.

Yelp
A small group of us came here after hiking Tumamoc Hill on a Saturday morning. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. Majority of their menu is healthy fruit beverages and Mexican food. There were a lot options for vegans and vegetarians. They provided us with chips and salsa while we waited for our food. Most of their meals come with refried beans, rice, guacamole, and side salad. The burrito I ordered a breakfast burrito with egg. It tasted so good!! I really love how fresh everything was! I can't wait to go again and try the jackfruit.
google avatar

Genevieve M.

Yelp
Best chilaquiles coupled with a delicious mole latte and Turkish coffee. Food made with fresh ingredients, vegan/ vegetarian options and served with heart. Indoor and outdoor seating which allows for puppy friendly seating.
google avatar

Tawnee H.

Yelp
Wow, this place is amazing! I'm surprised I don't hear it about it more. It was pretty busy on a Friday at lunch time, but we were still able to find a table and the food came out fast. We had ordered to go because we weren't sure if we'd have anywhere to sit since it's a "seat yourself" type of place. I loved how they put veggies in the rice and the quesadilla making it a little bit more nutrient packed. Everything was SO GOOD! Flavors hit the spot. Their juices, smoothies, and salsas were all good too. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
What a nice surprise this place is! I had the ropa vieja, and it was an amazing blend of flavors. Portions were pretty hearty as well. Atmosphere wasn't the best, but not too shabby. Prices were a little high, but the food was well worth it. I will definitely be returning to this place and excited to do so. It's pretty busy, but now that I've tried it, it's easy to see why.
google avatar

Maiko K.

Yelp
Went there for the first time in 9 months but my opinion about this place hasn't changed. Still great service from everyone and I tried their cuban torta and wow!!!!the meat tasted AMAZING!!
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
One of my current favorite restaurants in Tucson. The breakfast burritos are so good, and I love getting a latte and a fresh juice. The employees are so friendly and welcoming. A must-visit when you're on that side of town.
google avatar

Monica R.

Yelp
Fresh & Flavorful! So grateful they were open Christmas Eve. Wonderful service. Upbeat local ambiance. Great Tucson feels. Fresh colorful plate full of goodness. The tastes are awesome. We tried the Sonorsense Burrito with spicy jackfruit, pico, guacamole, beans. Frida Burrito with zucchini, mushrooms, rice. Chai tea & Lavender latte.

Michael M.

Yelp
Lifetime Tucson resident and Southsider that just found another incredible restaurant La Chaiteria. Latin Vegan menu which is unbelievable delicious. I am not a vegan but have fallen in love with the Latin flare masterpieces coming out of their kitchen. They also have a Regular or non vegan menu also as amazing as everything else I have tried. A bit price if you include their unmatched custom latte drinks. Average meal price of $16 per plate but this includes beans, rice and greens. We will be back.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing and can't recommend enough - my husband had a black cup of coffee that smelled amazing (he said he'd stop by just for a cup of coffee sometime) and I had the plate version of the breakfast burro with a side of corn tortillas that was absolutely amazing. My husband had the huevos rancheros and said they were really good but that my plate was better. Awesome vegan and vegetarian options, and great service! Plenty of parking; indoor and outdoor seating. See my full review and other restaurant reviews on my blog am-magicalmemories.com

Yelp
Yep, it's legit. This was my first visit and will not be my last. Was probably gonna go vegan, but, last minute, went with carne asada burro. It, and the sides, were all very tasty. Pleasant environment, too.

Robert B.

Yelp
La Chaiteria has been one of my favorite restaraunts for many years now! The staff is friendly and more than willing to help you with any questions and provide excellent service to all. Wendy the owner is amazing in promoting new vegan choices for someone like myself. Also, the cold area has lots of choices for non alcoholic beverages which go well with any meal you choose. I am always welcomed there by all staff and the cashier will definitley help you in figuring out what dish you want to try. It is to my good fortune that I only live less than a mile from this location. Food excellent, Service impeccable and the environment is always top notch and clean! Defiinetly 5 stars in my book! Yelp
La Chaiteria (and its sister restaurant, Tumerico) is one of my favorite restaurants in Tucson--and anywhere else for that matter. The Cuban tacos and tacos al pastor are my go-to menu items, but you can't go wrong here (except if you forget the salsa, because it's delicious!). The portions are hearty, and the jackfruit is so good that it's hard to tell it isn't "the real thing." I also appreciate the drink selection, including turmeric and CBD. I love having lunch here!

Jemma B.

Yelp
By far one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in Tuscon. The food is authentic and the service is so warm and friendly! 10/10 recommend!! Thank you La Chaiteria familia
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent, authentic Mexican food. Generous portions, not too much oil, great salsa bar. We got a carnita plate and a vegan enchilada queso. Good, quick service. A must if you're in Tucson.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
While out of the way for us, we make a point to visit this Menlo Park restaurant regularly. As with its sister restaurant, Tumerico, the menu changes regularly. Unlike Tumerico, La Chaiteria offers meat-based dishes in addition to its vegan and vegetarian offerings. The staff is welcoming and always helpful if you have questions about anything on the menus. I usually order the Frida Kahlo tostadas or Cuban tacos and a turmeric lemonade. My partner usually gets the Al Pastor tacos or Ropa Vieja. We choose to get the vegan versions, and they are delicious. The tacos come with salad, rice, and beans. Believe me, you won't leave here hungry! Note: You can purchase their tasty, pre-spiced jackfruit here for home cooking.

Courtney B.

Yelp
Great breakfast! Kind and helpful staff, lots of gluten free options for those who have an allergy or preference
google avatar

Katriel C.

Yelp
great food and choices for both vegetarians and meat lovers! on the menu they didn't have a vegetarian quesabirria option but I asked if they could make one and they happily were able to make the accommodation. I had to take a nap after eating the meal because of how yummy and filling it was
google avatar

Deanie R.

Yelp
This place is good for the food they are representing. The vegan options are delicious but lack a bit of flavor you would get from it not being vegan. The prices are a bit high for fast casual service and the neighborhood it's in. The nopales were delicious, perfectly prepared and not slimy at all. It was served with a small salad, dollop of guacamole, rice and beans. The side dishes were all average. The beans really need lard or some more fat to be really good refried beans. The quesabirria came with the same sides but also a bowl of broth to dip it in. The flavor was very smoky. Almost a bit too overpowering. The portions were very filling, we even had a bit leftover to take home. They have a variety of drinks to choose from.
