La Chartreuse

"This village located on the road to the Alps has long benefited from the generosity of the Carthusian monks – the name of this restaurant is a nod to them. The menu features well-executed modern cuisine that makes the most of seasonal (and often local) ingredients. The ever-popular "perfect egg" is nicely paired with a tempting medley of mushrooms; the classic beef chuck is slowly cooked in Mondeuse and gentian as well as Cervelle de canut (herbed cheese spread); the choux au craquelin is served with Grenoble walnut praline, hazelnut ice cream and melted chocolate – this is food that hits the spot! Rather traditional decor; large terrace in the heart of the village." - Michelin Inspector

We had our meal here recently and it was a truly fine dining experience. All courses were expertly prepared and presented by the friendly and courteous staff. The choice of good wines and aperitifs complemented the beautiful food on offer. Surely a Michelin star in the making. Thanks to everyone for a truly memorable evening.

Beautiful small village on the way to Chamonoix. It offers multiple hike trails and has a beautiful monastry to visit. The village does not provide a lot of choices in staying and dinning but its ok.

We went there on June 16th hoping to get some lunch, but were told they were fully booked, even though there were vacant tables. However, we stopped and had a drink, and as more tables became free, we asked again if we could perhaps just have a snack, but were again refused. A few minutes later a couple, apparently known to the staff, sat down near us and asked for food, and even though they hadn't booked were accepted. Normally a restaurant would try as hard as possible to accommodate customers; I have never experienced service like this before.

Not sure what I did but I dont think the man behind the counter liked me. He was very aggressive and in my face to a point I thought he was going to hit me. We didn't even get to eat. Not sure if it was that I'm Australian and don't speak very good french or we were in cycling clothing? Anyway one more climb up Col de la Colombière and was serviced very nicely. To the owners response. It was your establishment. The photo of the tart was the beautiful tart I had at the restaurant on the top of Col de la Colombiere

Nice bar. Just stayed for one pint before going up to le Gîte du Passant but it was quite nice. I love the view and the ambience is great.

Rude staff. Ended up leaving before getting any food because no staff bothered to talk to us for over 20 minutes.
