Disappointed by the Experience – Poor Value and Dismissive Attitude. Disappointed by the Experience – Poor Value and Dismissive Attitude
I recently visited La Chingada with high expectations based on local buzz, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired.
To begin with, the value for money is extremely questionable. I was charged £9 for two miniature tacos—barely more than a couple of bites each. When I raised concerns about the portion size and pricing, my feedback was met not with receptiveness, but with resistance and a dismissive tone. I was told, rather adamantly, that this was “economical” compared to other Mexican spots in the area.
The policy of discontinuing burrito service after 5 p.m. was also perplexing staff stated it was “bad for business,” yet offered no alternative aside from rice, which could only be added as part of a £15 set meal. This rigid pricing structure feels more exploitative than accommodating.
Additionally, the cleanliness of the venue was subpar. The tables were so sticky that lifting the laminated menu produced a peeling sound, and some of the ink actually transferred onto the table’s surface an unpleasant and avoidable hygiene issue.
I’m always willing to support independent establishments, and constructive feedback should be part of that exchange. However, the overall experience here—marked by overpriced portions, inflexible service, and poor sanitation—makes it difficult to recommend La Chingada. I hope the management takes this as an opportunity to reassess their pricing, service policies, and customer engagement.
