La choza was recommended to me by three people independent of each other so I knew I had to check it out.
I visited back in late October and gutted I haven't had a chance to go back. One thing to note is that they don't take reservations, you have to go in and put your name on the list, and this place gets busy. My partner and I had originally tried to go in on a Tuesday evening, and they told us it was going to be a 45 min wait, we were too hungry for that so opted to go somewhere else. A couple weeks later we went on a Saturday night, factoring in time for the inevitable wait so that we wouldn't be starving while waiting, it was an hour and 15 wait, which was fine as we had planned for that. It's in a great location in the North Laine area, so we just went for a drink elsewhere and they gave us a call when our table was available.
We were there near Halloween and all the staff were dressed up, faces painted with sugar skulls and the like which was nice. We ordered drinks, a passion fruit margarita and a hibiscus margarita if I remember correctly, which were lovely.
We shared a salad with chorizo crumbled on top on a recommendation from one of my friends who had insisted that I must order it when I went. It was the best thing on the table - this is quite something for me to say as I'm not usually one for ordering a salad.
I had a quasedilla, chorizo and chicken, it was lovely but didn't trump the salad. Boyfriend had a burrito which he also enjoyed.
We were far too full to eat it all so they packed up our leftovers for us to takeaway and we had those for lunch the next day!
Will definitely be going back when I can find the time!
