15 Places to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Eve in Los Angeles | Eater

"After you’ve had your fill of bangers and mash and bagpipes, head downtown to La Cita Bar. Here, you can finish off your St. Patrick’s Eve by dancing to Reggaeton and Latin House music until 2 a.m. That’s the fun of a brand-new holiday: you can rewrite the rules. Come early for a chill, divey vibe but get ready to dance after 9 p.m., with a Jameson in hand." - Vox Creative

Excellent music, great drinks available, and dancing. Can be a bit edgy for some, alcohol and tempers, mostly. The security takes such things VERY seriously and quickly, so definitely come correct or attend elsewhere if you're looking for a more relaxed environment. Good times to be bad here for sure, I had a blast and the music was muy caliente, no doubt. 🕺🎶

Cool Downtown spot to come to. Plays good music with 2 different stages and vibes. I like the layout of this bar. You can vibe outback or inside the building. Me I like being on the outside.

I’ve been here so many times best days are Friday and Saturday but the Djs been shit lately. It gets really packed if hard to find where to dance or sit. The staff is whatever they are always short staffed , idk why if they make money over charging for entrance and drinks and they get the people. The bathroom aren't always stocked up just in the beginning of the night then they don’t have anyone to restock it so BYO toliet paper. They make enough to have a lady in there.

Google
Pretty good bar in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Surprisingly large, with a large indoors seating and standing area, as well as a large outdoors seating area. My group arrived around 5:30pm and there was more than enough room for us. I heard the drinks are great. Didn’t see any food offerings, though. Recommendable for large groups.

Dj’d here for the first time ever and it did not disappoint. Felt like a backyard party the venue is big and has a patio. Good times

This is a great downtown LA bar that has a pretty descent sized dance floor. A solid spot after the Dodger or Lakers game. The outdoor patio is pretty cool with that red light. There’s about two bars with enough bartenders so getting a drink is not that long unless it’s super busy. Solid drinks & the crowd is pretty chill with lots of people ready to dance. Their mini taco stand had solid offerings and they were delicious. I’d definitely come back here again & it’s always a great post laker, dodger spot.

I happened to pass by this place in the daytime and took a look inside, it seemed interesting. I went to where I needed to be first, and on my way back I decided to stop for a drink. The bartender was friendly, the bar was quiet, which I expected for a weekday. I enjoyed a margarita and a Jack Daniels. I plan to return on a weekend to see what the nightlife is like.

I recently visited La Cita for the second time on a Thursday night, and it was just as vibrant and happy as my first experience. Both visits were after other events, turning into a kind of afterparty as we arrived around 10:30 or 11 p.m. The atmosphere is alive – a mix of energy, music, and fun. The DJ played a great variety of Latin music that kept everyone on the dance floor, and the crowd was diverse. From locals to people dressed in suits and dresses fresh from a gala, La Cita attracts a mix of people from all walks of life and all ages. I danced with my group and even met a few new people to share the dance floor with, which made the night even more memorable. Everyone I was with danced and had some drinks. While I didn’t get to try the food this time, I remember enjoying it on my previous visit. There’s even a food truck parked out front for late-night bites. If you’re looking for a lively spot with great music, dancing, and an electric vibe, La Cita is the place. I’ll definitely be back more times!

Yelp
La Cita is exactly what you want when you're looking for a chill, low-key spot to grab drinks and hang out. It's got that cozy, no-frills vibe, but in the best way. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is friendly, and it's the perfect place to unwind after a long day or just kick off a night out. The drinks are solid -- they've got a nice selection of cocktails and tequila options. I went with a margarita, and it hit all the right notes -- refreshing, not too sweet, and with a good kick. The prices are super reasonable, especially for the area. There's also a bit of a dive bar charm to it, with some really fun decor and music that just makes it feel like a place you can settle into and stay a while. If you're in the mood for a casual spot to chill with friends, La Cita is definitely worth checking out. Simple, easy-going, and just a really good vibe overall.

Yelp
Place is good but security sucks. Saw a guy get pummeled and security did not stop it. They went inside and close doors. That's not right. Whoever has video, put it on YELP!

Yelp
My client and I popped in here after a lunch meeting for the first time without really knowing what to expect. We wanted to grab a couple cocktails and discuss our upcoming project. Well, we ended up forgetting about talking work and instead hopped on the dance floor with the most eclectic gathering of Angelinos cutting the rug to Mariachi tunes. I danced with an older Mexican guy who was wearing a non-ironic cowboy hat and boots that looked as if he just came off the ranch, which was a pleasant surprise since we were in the heart of Downtown L.A. The drinks were 4 stars and the decor was a 3, but in a good way. Fun factor was 5 stars!

Yelp
Just when I thought I made peace with getting my phone stolen 3 months ago at this place... Someone just posted on TikTok they got roofied here. I made a comment about my phone getting stolen and what do you know... looks like a common occurrence! BE WARNED!
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
Love a spot like this! Older than you and full of guys you want to talk to. Sat in the back and the bartender was fabulous, he lived all our spots and endorsed them. We were headed to the prince and HMS Bounty, he was jealous, it makes you know the day will be fabulous. Great looks to this place, see pics.

Yelp
This is my favorite dive in DTLA. I have a rule that any bar that has Xmas lights up year around is a great bar, and def applies here. Cheap drinks, patio, awesome bar top. Don't let the clientele scare you, friendly place. Been coming here for 10 years when in town for work. Can't recommend enough.

Yelp
Always fun, great vibes, great music, great Bloody Mary's/ Maria's. Inside and patio both so much fun. Been going for YEARS.. the best!!

Raulk G.

Yelp
Cool everything except drinks are a bit pricey. $14 for a mixed drink with the cheapest brand alcohol.

Yelp
This weirdo who claims he's the manager didn't let people in because they were holding their drink to throw away in line. He was saying people should know yet there was people right next to the line selling hot dogs and drinks so why not let that be known? He waited till people waited in a 30-45 minute lines and yet the securities were being bribed with people who didn't even have ID's but as soon as this "manager" came they weren't allowing anyone in. we asked for a number or someone to come out and talk to us and he said google it.
google avatar

Nevaeh G.

Yelp
I visited La Cita for the first time on Valentines weekend and it was packed! We waited approximately an hour to get inside and paid $20 per person cash--but they do have an atm inside if you need it. Inside there's a lot of space for dancing and standing. The drinks were average LA prices, around $20 for a calm drink. I would recommend for a group event, there seemed to be some bachelorettes happening when we were there. One flaw is that the event ended 15 min prior to 2 pm and we couldn't use the restroom up to 30 min before 2 pm.

Yelp
WORST BAR IN LA!!! when I say you are more likely to get roofie or take home a deadbeat with the STD then have a good time at this bar. (Not me. Being facetious has actually happened to real people. MULTIPLE TIMES) I MEAN IT!!! Bouncer are fucking assholes here, but still somehow end up letting under age people in. And the drinks are all sugar and no alcohol. Save your money and your time. Don't even show up. Anytime I come to the bar. I end up asking myself. "Why the fuck did I even come?!?" If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
google avatar

Caro S.

Yelp
Five star dive? Yup, they have Cumbia on Thursdays for a $10 cover. Divey and surrounded with food options. Tamales in the back or food truck outside. Great place to dance the night away with girlfriends! Or if you want a vibe and a chat hang in the patio outback. Bathroom is clean-ish and not too small. My favorite part- free photo booth in the back. Yass!

Yaboiii O.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Saw so many people being kicked for no reason. Think the bouncers have a quota to make in order to keep the ratio. Do not recommend.
google avatar

Darrien M.

Yelp
Drinks were OK. I got to see my childhood friend inside the bar. I did not understand the music, but I did love the environment. It got packed extremely fast, but it was a great experience.

Yelp
I came here about six months ago and someone stole my sister's phone right out of her purse that was zipped and on her the entire night. We went back on Friday night to have a girls night and my phone was stolen out of my purse even though it was also zipped and on me the entire night. The security guards warn you as you go in to watch your phones almost as if the bar is in on it. Parking is $30-$40 and the music was alright.

Lesly G.

Yelp
music is good but there's this one male bartender on Fridays that's mean af he will literally ruin your vibe bc he seems like he hates his job... do better la cita and hire bartenders that can tolerate the line of work they do...

lizeth m.

Yelp
Rude dude who claims to be the manager lets in people without ID's for a bribe but if you are rude back to him then he won't let you in. Grown mad should be so damm sassy.
google avatar

Erik V.

Yelp
In my experience, La Cita is a hit or miss. They theme their days out and I know Wednesdays is a popular night for "Perreo Wednesday", aside from Wednesdays, I've gone on Friday and Thursday nights and it's a hit or miss. The drinks are nothing special, but the music can be good depending on the night you attend. I know that most nights they have a cover charge after a certain hour, not sure if it's 9 or 10pm. I would check it out if you see that the day you want to go has music that is if your taste because the dance floor does get quite full.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
What kinda of establishment closes their restroom before their bar??? Makes so sense. Staff are no help and place can honestly be cleaner.
google avatar

Lupe G.

Yelp
We gave it a try, we were disappointed with the inside service. However we walked out and Federico and Quinn were wonderful. They made what we wanted and went above and beyond! Thank you for making our night amazing although we were ready to hop to Perch! Thanks Boys!!!
google avatar

Abeja D.

Yelp
It gets ridiculously packed in here. The 1 star is for them knowing phones get stolen and not trying to stop it. My friend had her phone stolen right off her person.
google avatar

Valerie E.

Yelp
Do not recommend. Had been actually looking forward to checking this place out for reggaeton nights and we finally made it to one. They were playing good music inside and outside tho they were different vibes. It got packed pretty quickly but not even being there more than an hour my sister's phone got stolen as soon as we hit the crowded dance floor & she said the girls at the door had warned her someone was stealing phones that night. There's a lot of security but they're not really doing anything & the "manager" claimed to had checked the cameras within the 5 mins we had reported it & claimed not to see anything lol. clearly it's an ongoing issue. Totally turned us off from ever returning especially when it was heavily full of low class men trying to harass women. Drinks weren't even good actually tasted funky like super cheap liquor. Not the vibe
google avatar

Andrew O.

Yelp
Cover charge of $20 was worth it. Very well managed due to the fact that if you're sleeping you are thrown out. Excellent cooks making bison burgers and hot dogs. I also enjoyed the selection of craft beers and the DJ played a variety of music inside and outside at the patio which has a dope view of the LA skyline. Good times
google avatar

Marisol L.

Yelp
Maybe I've come to the age where my comfort matters the most to me and that's why this place got two stars. And my comfort level dropped at the entrance when the security guard patted me down and told me to put my phone in my front pocket for it could be stolen. Then the entrance fee after 9pm and clearly they state No coming back in once you walk out. It was hyped up to be this cool spot to grab drinks and listen to music and possibly even dance. But the two bartenders (and the one outside) can't handle the crowd of thirty people in front of them. It too way too long to get drink I didn't even feel like getting a second round. It was crowded and super hot (humid swampy hot) that an hour in I had hit my limit of uncomfortable and decided to call it a night. Maybe I'm getting too old to go out spend 90 (parking, cover fee, and 2 drinks) and not be comfortable
google avatar

Ricardo Q.

Yelp
Great cantina, good service and the mix drinks are nice , not just filled with alcohol a great mix pf flavor and booze, the vibes Great chill and plenty of place's to sit, taco truck out front and some food inside, drinks are about 15$ each got a mule and michelada 30$
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
If I could rate this by the music I would and it would be 5/5 but the bartenders are extremely rude - ALL of them, excluding security. The staff hang out with friends while on duty they discuss personal in front of customers. All other reviews from 7 months ago are pretty much on point. The drinks are ok but served with attitude so mid!
google avatar

Akul M.

Yelp
We came here for new years after we went to a few other places and it ended up being after midnight. There was no cover but I think before midnight there was a 40 dollar cover which compared to other new years events was very reasonable. They played good music a combination of mostly hip hop and Latin music and everybody was dancing. Definitely a fun vibe and would definitely check out again for some of their other events during the week.
google avatar

Chay N.

Yelp
This is my spotttttt LA CITA MI AMOR!!! I usually go Mondays which is the Hip-hop nights. The majority of the week is Reggae, Salsa, more Spanish music favored. Mondays parking to the side is free, but Wednesdays Fridays and Saturdays they definitely charge $30+ easily for parking, due to that being their busiest nights. SECURITY IS THE SHIIIIIIT they are so attentive to the women here making sure they are not being bothered by unnecessary man-child that lurk around, in general they are always walking around constantly to check everything Is going good. SHOUTOUT TO MY FAVORITE BARTENDER MONICA SHE KNOWS MY ORDER EVERY SINGLE TIME, SHE IS THE BEST!!! SERVICE 10/10. The bathrooms aren't always the cleanest but I only go in there for a bathroom selfie pic with my girls. They also have a patio in the back area, also plays music out there, with a full bar outside as well. usually they have a food vendor, its always a different vendor each day so that's cool, supporting local vendors. In general, the place starts poppin around 11:30-midnight. There has been cases of pick pocketers, just keep your ishhh on you , close to you, or don't bring it with you. Girlies utilize your extra bra space to hold your stuff :-) SEE YOU GUYS NEXT WEEK! ALSOOOO- THIS IS MORE OF A SPOT FOR THE SUMMER TIME, IT KINDA DIED OUT AFTER SUMMER ENDED SO IT WASNT AS PACKED LIEK IT USE TO BE, ITS OK MORE ROOM TO DANCCE ;)

Yelp
Las Perlas is better literally less than a mile from here! 1) I was ordering the same drink all night and they were charging me differently every time. How was it that a strawberry margarita and a club soda cost less than when I order a strawberry margarita by itself? The drinks were expensive and I spent around $350. 2) There should be more bartenders. The area was crowded, especially when trying to order drinks. The bartenders had a good rhythm when taking and making drinks but there were too many people that it seemed like it forever by the time you get your drink. Keep in mind, the same crowded area is the same area where people are entering and leaving the place. (Think of it like a small hallway). Security was working extra hard to make sure a space was cleared for people to leave and exit, but it was still stuffy. 3) I had a friend that got KICKED OUT for using the men's restroom. There was a really long line for the women's restroom and she really had to go. This was very frustrating because prior to this incident, I was about to use the women's restroom and SAW A MAN using it and yet I saw him there throughout the night. 4) Also, the DJ played some good music BUT he kept changing the songs too fast. It was hard to dance. There was also a band that played which was pretty cool. 5) In the back, "The Patio", was an area that played rock music which was also really cool. 6) For some reason, you can't open a tab which annoyed me but made sense due to the amount of people in there.

Yelp
This is The CLEANEST bar in LA! You know how stinky most are. The bartender "X" made me the best French 75. He said he like to make classic cocktails. The patio is super cute. The ambience is dark but there were many little lights. The music was fun.
google avatar

Kevyn D.

Yelp
This bar fraudulently charged my card twice. Not to mention my wifes phone got swiped here as well. Stay away from this place!
google avatar

Sarah V.

Yelp
Zero stars. I got my phone stolen here from my purse while I was dancing. I told the staff and no one cared. It seemed like the staff were in on it. They told me to call the manager I called the bar multiple times and nobody answered. I drove back an hour the next day and they told me to come back when the manager was in because only they had access to the valuables safe. When I went back during said hours the bouncer would not even let me in to check. They just said nothing was found here. Did not even let me speak to anyone. I had find my I phone and it tracked my phone to the bar for two days until eventually the person who had it took it with them. I could see it moving around the bar. So lame. Not worth spending a few bucks on drinks to have your things stolen.

Susan P.

Yelp
The event was poorly managed. La Cita tried to charge people who paid 40 bucks for an event an extra 20 to get in to get access to an event that was prepaid for. - Entry was halted for about 15 minutes right before the cut off due to an individual claiming to be associated with the owner arguing with security. This prevented the line completely leaving all of us from being able to get our even tickets the event until it ended at 2 AM. Very poorly managed by the bar and so upsetting to experience on a Halloween weekend.
google avatar

Juel A.

Yelp
Super crowded, The music is always great but good luck if you go on a Saturday. They have a $20 dollar charge and you can barely walk anywhere or get a drink at the bar.
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
THE DRINKS ARE WATERED DOWN. We asked for tequila reposado shots and when I asked to see the bottle cause it looked clear like silver tequila but the bartender showed me the bottle and it said reposado. Don't come here and spend $20 for a shot of water. What a SCAM! Music was dope but more men than women so it was a bit uncomfortable as well with having men just stand around and watching women dance (like weirdos. lol ). The photographer was nice tho.
google avatar

Jesus C.

Yelp
This place promotes to go in but rejects when you go in. They are so unfair and racists. I was standing waiting for the bathroom, and they kicked me out for no reason. I had people explaining to them that I was okay, while I was waiting for my girlfriend and her friends. I do not recommend if you're colored ! We had a st Patrick's pass and they denied us, knowing damn well they were promoting la Cita even if we paid $35!!!!!! Ridiculous all of them!!!! Besides the bouncer with the ponytail with the yellow shirt
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
If you are looking for a nice, down to earth bar...this is a good spot! La Cita is located right next to grand central market. There is a parking lot located directly across and it'll make finding parking less stressful! M They have inside seating at the bar and a pretty large patio area in the back. Be aware that people can smoke back there, so if you are sensitive to smoke, maybe stay inside. I came here around 6pm on a Friday, so it wasn't a full blown night club yet. So very tame!

Jennie V.

Yelp
Honestly, this place is trash, and the bartenders are rude. They know people steal phones here, and don't do anything about it. Go to any other latino club but this place.
google avatar

Rosa A.

Yelp
we came here after a baseball game to have some drinks we had to pay $30 to park there. The attendees said that it was because there was events all over LA (how is that our fault we're going into your bar) but whatever we were there there wasn't a lot of people maybe 10 people inside. Only one bartender that was there was taking forever, they have no buckets available and they'd don't do open tabs not to mention the bartenders were a bit rude. For $30 parking and the amout of drinks we paid for inside you would be better off going to Las Perlas that place is always popping.
google avatar

Jeane M.

Yelp
The manager grabbed my boyfriend's privates last night at the door during the pat down process. I was very disturbed and I will warn you that this club is dangerous as I saw someone get carried out on a stretcher. I will be filing a complaint
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Recently celebrate a friends birthday here and though we were there for someone else, La Cita was exactly what I needed. We arrived around 9 pm and there wasn't a line so getting in was easy. Keep in mind that though, they do accept card at the bars, it is a cash only entrance fee. We paid $10. The bar in the front can get pretty crowded but the staff there Keeps the aisle clear. Getting a drink takes foorrrrever - get multiples! Overall great time.

Eliza B.

Yelp
Bar tender was nice. Music was awesome but the women's restroom was horrible! There's no seat covers so imagine walking in to a pissed toilet. One of the toilets was full of vomit. The smell was horrendous! It smelled like eggs and throw up. Yuck! It be nice if someone took their time to make sure the restrooms are clean throughout the night. I understand that it's a bar but do better guys. It was just a nightmare! Just to give you guys an idea, I'll add some pictures of one of stalls.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
A group of us came after a work social since it was a Thursday night (Thursday nights are Cumbia nights). We got there early so we didn't have to pay a cover fee. I hadn't been here in years, and it sure hasn't changed much. Still smells the same lol. They removed the outdoor little dance floor and replaced it with more tables and chairs. I don't remember there being two screens before, but they were playing the Dodger game when we arrived. The bartender was friendly and made us Mexican Candy shots at our request. We had fun dancing as a group and luckily it never got too crowded while we were there.
google avatar

Joyce B.

Yelp
I happened to pass by Name in the daytime and took a look inside; it seemed interesting. After finishing my errands, I decided to stop for a drink. The bartender was friendly, and the bar was quiet, as expected for a weekday. I enjoyed a margarita and a Jack Daniels. I appreciate that they allow outside food and have outdoor seating, though they don't accept reservations. I plan to return on a weekend to see what the nightlife is like.

Alicia E.

Yelp
PHONES GET STOLEN!!!!!!!! 6+ people including myself got our phones stolen this past weekend. The manager and security guards were rude as hell saying "to let them do their job" but they did jack shit!! Did nothing to help and closed the door on us. Apparently it's been an on going thing I wouldn't doubt the whole bar is a part of that whole scheme!
google avatar

María José C.

Yelp
- long line and cash cover charge - rude bouncers - rude bartenders - smelly - music is ok at best As someone else said, this place is very low class. I understand people are going out to drink but the things you see here are just messy. No control from the staff whatsoever. If you're a woman you might get groped or harassed. Avoid.

Nicholas I.

Yelp
$20 Entrance fee/cover charge. Drinks are strong. YOU WILL GET YOUR PHONE STOLEN HERE. Three people got their phones stolen from my group. I literally had some guy try to reach into my pocket and walk away. We told security and they said all they could do was kick him out... Restrooms are filthy but there is plenty of seating outside and inside with a food vendor inside and street vendors outside. No reason to return as there are plenty of places with less thieves, better music, and better pricing.

Yelp
Every time I'm in this part of Downtown Los Angeles and I'm parked next to this establishment, I feel that something is going to happen to me or my car. One of my friends was mugged by patrons from this bar; it was unprovoked. When I park behind La Cita, I don't like to stay until 2:00 AM because people coming out of this bar are always hanging outside causing a ruckus. I've seen everything from parking exit/entrances being blocked to bottles being thrown. It's a mess! You'd think that the bar would be a little more responsible with what their patrons are doing outside of their establishment.
