Owners were very friendly. Service was great. I ordered 3 tacos. They were full of meat, but the hard shell was too crispy for my taste. The salsa was great, but the chips were too hard for me. Did take them with me. My husband ordered a burrito. He liked it okay.

Google
Totally unassuming spot, with INCREDIBLE tacos - the tortillas were top-notch, and when I asked for no onions on my taco, the person taking my order let me know that the protein I had selected was actually cooked in onions, and recommended the options that weren't - it just seemed so natural to her to be like "oh if you don't want onions, you maybe want something else," incredible. There's a fantastic ice cream shop next door too - you get a nice little walk to burn off the calories!

I found this gem by happy accident on my way through town a few months ago. It is now a regular stop. I grew up in Southern California eating some of the best Mexican street food available. This place will hold its own against any of them. The portions are huge, the food is stellar, and the family is absolutely wonderful. Do yourself a favor if you are within driving distance. Make the stop.

If you blink you will miss the truck. More importantly you will miss good food. Fresh ingredients with corn tortillas the tacos will hit the spot any day of the week and not just Tuesday. The salsa verde and hot sauce go well with them. The tortas are filling and pretty good. But for me the tacos are what to go for. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. There is outdoor seating and if you are unable to finish the food holds up well for the next day.

I’ve been wanting a torta since last year when I saw Action Bronson tear into one on “F, That’s Delicious” and the dream has finally become reality For starters - bring your appetite. The servings are stacked, leaving plenty of leftovers. We had two tortas (asada & chorizo huevo) and a pollo quesadilla. The tortas are absolute units. If you finish one you’re likely to be in a coma. The quesadilla is also much larger than others I’ve seen in local Mexican restaurants The prices are a little higher than what you’d expect at la carreta but the quality certainly justifies it. Also very friendly service: the lady offered to bring our food to the car since it was raining

I ordered 3 carnitas tacos with rice and beans. The meat was tender and seasoned well. The rice was so good! The portions are generous for the price. Service is a little slow, but it’s made to order so that’s expected. Being next to the highway is a little loud, but still a nice stop and there are shaded tables.

Google
Mexican and Food truck are a match made in heaven and this place delivers! It's hard to find non-Americanize tacos and this is the place. There is even a secret menu and you can get tongue and cheek tacos if they aren't already sold out. I'll be back!

This was just ok for me. The asada taco was good and I love the cilantro and verde sauce. Love the lime. The chicken taco was VERY dry—chokable dry. The quesadilla was just ok—not hot enough to melt the cheese completely. I’d skip it for Taquerios just up the road due to toppings and freshness.

Yelp
Best tacos in Lynchburg!! The burrito and quesadillas are very very good too but the best part is the staff. They are so nice and welcoming. We look forward to getting this place every week.

Yelp
Yikes! We had high expectations due to the high rating and delicious looking pictures online. Unfortunately, the food we received (which was VERY expensive, by the way, and prices for most items were not on the menu) was subpar. We ordered the al pastor tacos with rice and beans, chicken tacos, asada tacos, and asada torta. The good stuff: service was friendly, the wait wasn't too long, and the portions were good (the torta was GIANT). The atmosphere outside would probably be nice at night (they have outdoor seating, tables, lights). The torta was the best thing we ordered, it was good! Unfortunately, all the meat we got was dry and unseasoned. In the torta it was masked by all the other ingredients, but all of the tacos are more simple, so the unseasoned meat couldn't be covered up. The pork on the al pastor was so dry and flavorless I couldn't force myself to take more than a couple bites. The rice and beans also tasted unseasoned and flavorless which was very disappointing. All of this wouldn't have been so disappointing if it wasn't extremely expensive (we are visiting from DC and even street tacos there are cheaper!). We were expecting high quality for a meal that was almost $70 total (9 tacos with one side of rice and beans, one torta, and a soda).

Yelp
One of the best and most authentic places to get Mexican food in Lynchburg! It may look unassuming from the street view, but it is definitely worth the trip. I can't tell you how many times I've driven by until I decided to give them a try! I was so glad I did! I ordered the vegetable tacos with rice and beans. The wait was a bit longer than most food trucks, but faster than any sit-down Mexican restaurant around. The tacos were loaded with veggies, and squeezing the limes gave them additional flavor that complemented the other ingredients incredibly well. The serving size was generous; the food was so good I finished it all but definitely left very full! I wish they had enchiladas on the menu, but they made me into a taco fan!

Yelp
Best authentic Mexican food in Lynchburg. The family who owns it is SO nice and friendly! I was debating between drinking the Mexican coke or the strawberry jarrito, and I couldn't decide, so he gave me the strawberry jarrito to try for free You can tell that the food is made with love and the overall ambience of the outdoor area is sooooo nice! Such pretty rainbow lights! Absolutely love this place and will be going here weekly from now on. God bless!!!

Yelp
Great taco truck! Love the people that run it! Always very pleasant and nice. Tried the Al Pastor, Chicken and Chorizo and the Carnitas tacos recently. Very good. Very fresh. Also got free homemade chips and salsa. Very good as well. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Ok, I learned a few things during my visit to La Cocina. First off, call in your order. Especially around lunch. We did an impulse stop because it looked popular and we were right. I waited 30 minutes for a carry out order. I did see the smart people pull up and grab their order that they phoned in while I waited in the cool breeze. Secondly, don't let your eyes be bigger than your belly. I ordered the three carnitas tacos with rice and beans and could only finish half of it. The tacos were well stuffed and extremely flavorful. Lastly, I learned that the owner cares about customer satisfaction. He threw in a couple of sodas for free because I had to wait so long and a sincere apology. The place was non stop food slinging and I didn't order ahead. I know better for next time, and there will be many next times to come.

Yelp
A pretty dope spot on this side of LYH! We got there and they were almost sold out of everything (a VERY good sign imo), but we were able to get a few tacos with carnitas, chicken, and beef. They were very traditional and delicious. Plus the side of rice and beans were actually really good. I didn't get to try the quesadilla but it looked pretty big as well. The torta was also very good and very traditional according to my buddy that got it. I'd come back here any time I'm over in this area looking for some very traditional tacos. But be warned--they're very popular, so get there earlier because they can sell out!

Yelp
Visited in Sept.2023. Service was EXCELLENT! The food was absolutely AMAZING ! Only issue is could find NO INFO ANYWHERE of the restaurant's HOURS & Days they are OPEN!

Yelp
Incredible food. The carne asada street tacos are amazing and their homemade chips and salsa (and they give you a LOT of salsa) are addicting! My husband loves the chorizo chicken tacos. Many people rave over the al pastor (marinated pork with pineapple). It is very good. Now, I grew up in Southern California about 2 hours from the Mexican border. So, out here in VA, I feel like I am a Mexican food snob. I don't like the food at the local Mexican restaurants as it is very bland. But this place is like going home! Lots of flavor!
