I am a big fan of fusion cuisine. Italian and Mexican are not vastly different in terms of flavor profile (even when cooking I like to fuse them myself), so the idea of this restaurant is great; however, I can only say they are just okay. Not great, not bad, just okay.
The lighting is low and gives this restaurant a romantic feel. The walls have paintings and murals of Italy and Mexico and are nice to look at while you're waiting on food or drinks. As far as ambiance goes, this place is well done and is a great spot for a date night.
They have a full bar and the bartender whom served us was very nice and has a great sense of humor. My partner ordered the La Cocina Burrito, but pronounced it as "cochina." I was focused on deciding what I wanted to order and didn't even notice, but she explained to him what he said and the difference, which gave us a good laugh.
Onto the food, which is the core factor when deciding whether or not to dine at a restaurant. I ordered the Chile Relleno with some tortillas and it was just okay. Simply put, it was not memorable. I don't think it would leave someone disappointed or unable to finish it due to quality, but it's not something that I would ever be dying to eat over and over. I did not try the La Cocina Burrito; however, my partner felt similarly about his burrito as I did about the Chile Relleno.
Overall, this restaurant is just okay, nothing special. I would try it again to give some of their other dishes a chance: I'd love to see how the Italian side of their menu compares.
