"Comète is in the centre of the seaside resort, near the beach. Each dish by chef Victor Nicolas is a reminder of his Michelin-starred career in Paris and, more particularly, his time working for Christophe Pelé: the dishes are on the creative side, the ingredients top-notch, the no-frills preparations don't mess around, the sauces are elegant and the condiments punchy. For example, spider crab, fennel and strawberries; roast brill, potatoes, chard and meunière sauce. The decoration of this small old-school bistro (old pine floorboards, salvaged and mismatched furniture, vintage-style light fittings) does the rest." - Michelin Inspector

Google
Outstanding service - the staff is very friendly and caring. Escargot and avocado toast were both absolutely delicious and well prepared with great attention to detail in terms of taste. We were returning customers after our last year’s visit and we will be back.

Google
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, seemed to be local people eating and drinking. Didn't feel at all uncomfortable eating as a single (English) person. Authentic and down to earth. Food excellent and reasonably priced. Dog friendly. Would definitely go again.

I stopped by this charming little café-restaurant before my flight back, and I’m so glad I did. I ordered the escargot—€10 for six—and they were surprisingly large and packed with flavor. I also treated myself to an espresso martini, the perfect combo of caffeine and booze—talk about killing two birds with one stone! The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. I highly recommend this spot for lunch, and I’ll definitely be back for dinner next time I’m in Paris!

Google
The food was overall not tasty. The onion soup was not throughly cooked, for the onion was still white. The duck confi was okay but not tasty. Overall, I was disappointed and didn't go back while I was in Paris.

Google
A small French restaurant with friendly staff. I had onion soup with some French baguettes and it was amazing (and plus very filling because of the baguettes). The desserts were also very delicious! We are happy you to have discovered this local gem.

Google
Lovely French restaurant with a small but good menu. English menu also available. Tight seating, great service and food. Can't go wrong with escargots and beef tartare. Alcohol-free cocktails available. Happy hour pricing on beers and cocktails.

Google
It was lovely. The stuff is very quick and adequate. Prices are satisfactory, but for the taste and the service more than all right. I really loved their “happy hour” with the discounts on cocktails. My first time to try snails and there were delicious. Really recommend this place.

Google
Amazing food! French onion soup if just so amazing, you must get it from here. Staff were kind and there was a great atmosphere to the not so big restaurant. Really enjoyed my dinner and evening there, would certainly recommend!

Yelp
Came for the French onion soup and it wasn't very good. The broth lacked in flavor and was not hardy or robust. Also ordered two cocktails that were just meh.

Yelp
Stopped in at 11 AM on a Saturday for a snack/last meal before our flight back to NYC. I was looking for a spot near our hotel that had beef tartare and that was not a tourist trap and I found La Comète, which looked pretty legit. Unfortunately, it was too early for the tartare as they only serve that during lunch/dinner hours. So we ordered an onion soup, a dozen snails, and a cheese plate. The onion soup was really good. The cheese was nice and melty and slightly charred in some spots. I shared this with my husband but I probably could have eaten two of these on my own. The snails were great as well. But I feel like 12 is a little too much for two people, but 6 wouldn't be enough. For the cheese plate, I don't remember what was on it but I remember not liking the harder cheeses and really liking the gorgonzola. I wish we found out about this place sooner so we could have tried a proper meal. If anyone gets a chance to try the beef tartare, let me know!

Yelp
Pretty standard French cafe. Plenty of seating outside, but it was a blustery day in April with some light rain occasionally, so we joined everyone else inside. Pretty tight per Paris standards, but plenty of elbow room from our seat. Had a glass of house white that was pretty good. Started off with a shared soup a l'oignon (onion soup). It was just great! Also added a club de poulet which turned out to be too much food between the two. The club came with some waffle cut fries/potatoes that were tasty but unobtrusive. The club was good, but the pickeled veggies took some getting used to as well. The waiter was good, the bathroom did the deed (upstairs) and we enjoyed the warm stay in the rain.

Yelp
Popped in for dinner with my friend. Service was good. Friendly waiter and bartender. They will bring you cold tap water, which is nice. Open air seating, but they do have a fan so it wasn't too hot inside. We ordered the 12 escargot, onion soup, and steak (medium rare). Everything was delicious - the best snails I've ever had: pulled from the shell and not served in pastry. The onion soup was also great. The Gruyère cheese is perfect and the soup itself was savory, buttery and full of flavor. The steak was ok, not as tender as some but we finished the whole thing. We came back another day for lunch to order the soup again and tried the chicken club sandwich. You can tell they cook the chips on house.

Yelp
Yes! Go here. Eat this. Busy place but service was very good. Onion soup to start with a croque and a 1/2 bottle of red!

John M.

Yelp
The best bistro frites in Paris so far and the bacon cheeseburger wasn't bad. The space was a little tight but about average for Paris. The service was very fast, and friendly. Overall a great experience and a good value.

Yelp
La Comète was very conveniently located just across the street from the hotel we stayed at. We had a lovely breakfast here! My husband isn't a big breakfast person, so he opted for the smaller option and enjoyed his hot chocolate, orange juice, and croissant. I selected the croque madame, which came with a side salad with a balsamic drizzle. The salad was light, fresh, and served as a great balance to the deliciously cheesy sandwich. Service was quick and friendly, and our outdoor seating was just in a spot of sunlight to warm us up in the brisk morning temperature. I would definitely recommend La Comète!

Matthew M.

Yelp
Great food and the service. Right outside our hotel. We've walked farther and been disappointed. Don't make that mistake. We plan to eat here again.

Yelp
So... I just don't understand all the terrific reviews that La Comète receives. This review is based on only one visit... it was really busy and I suppose every restaurant has bad days now and then, so maybe that's all it was. BUT the croque madame was not very good. The bread was too hard (maybe even stale)... and it just did not have much flavor. We also ordered the flat iron steak with frites. The frites were tasty, but the steak was undercooked (we ordered it medium well and it came out medium rare)... and just not good. I know everything is done a little differently in Europe than in America, but this was at the tail end of our trip where we experienced some spectacular meals and some average ones... so my expectations were realistic. Unfortunately, La Comète disappointed us. **TWO STARS**

Yelp
Best Fish & Chips I've ever had. So fresh & Frispy. Cesar salad is also good. No wonder so many people look like regular customers, not only tourists. Im

Yelp
I came to La Comete twice when I was in Paris because it was super affordable and their escargot is amazing. If you come during their lunch hours (I believe this is 12:00-17:00), you basically get their escargot for free! At 15 euros, you can either get an appetizer+main plate OR main plate+dessert. Both times, I got their 6 piece escargot appetizer. It's so delicious and I recommend you try it. The garlic herb butter is phenomenal and the complimentary bread soaks it right up after you devour the escargots. For the main plates, I'd suggest the duck confit. However, this may be a hit or miss for you. The first time I got their duck confit, it was perfectly crispy and flavorful. However, my boyfriend got the duck confit during our second visit and the skin wasn't as crispy and it was greasy. I also tried their lamb with ratatouille and the steak with mashed potatoes. Both were really good so you can't go wrong. The service here is wonderful. They had the English menu available and also took our order in English. The restaurant itself is one of the bigger restaurants in Paris, but the tables and chairs are quite small. To get in, you may have to move the table out. For payment, I had to go up to the bar and it was uncomfortable because of servers coming out of the kitchen constantly. However, I'd deal with these nuisances for a fix of their escargot any day.

Yelp
La Comète is a super bustling cafe/bar that we frequented a few times on our trip and it was slammed every time. The happy hour cocktails are 5.50€ and made with freshly pureed fruit and juices. We loved the raspberry mule with thick raspberry puree and the english garden. So fresh to death. The tables are teeny tiny and you're basically in your neighbors' laps, but that's part of the charm. Service is quick, super friendly, and they speak pretty good English. As for food, we tried the escargot, steak tartare, duck confit, and the charcuterie/cheese board. Escargot were large and meaty, the steak tartare was ridiculously fresh and flavorful, and the duck had a nice crispy skin. What more could you ask for? Everything was also SO reasonably priced. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want cheap cocktails and delicious food.

Yelp
Hit or miss at La Comete, the first time I went it was great but the second time I went, it was terrible. This little restaurant was only a 5 minute walk from my Best Western hotel and it is on a street popping with restaurants and bars. I stumbled on it through Yelp and decided to give it a try on my first night in Paris. Every night I went, it was packed. Even at two different times 7 pm and 9 pm. The servers are flying around and definitely don't expect them to come check on you often. You may wait a bit before they even take your order. I had the onion soup on two different occasions and the first time it was piping hot which was great. The second time it was room temperature which was gross. The cheese didn't even fully melt. Their way of making onion soup is not the typical Americanized way where them bake the whole bown and the cheese is Crusted on. This restaurant makes the soup then just throws in the bread and sprinkles the cheese on top before serving. Not my favorite. The duck confit on the first night was dry and over roasted. The second night it was nice and tender with crispy skin. The bed of roasted potatoes was delicious on both tries. The escargot was pretty good. Not as big as I've had it at other French restaurants but the sauce was tasty.

Yelp
Comfy, cozy spot for eaither a quick drink, coffee or dinner. I had the thick steak meal. The steak was tender and the potatoes were creamy. Great service and a must try while in Paris.

Yelp
So yum!!!Went here on our last night in Paris! Easy to communicate if you only speak english!

Yelp
Terrible food, nothing is fresh. Some of the food was cold from the freezer/refrigerator, some of the food was visibly dried out and old. Big waste of money. To make it worse, they were incredibly rude. The young blonde waiter/busboy was mocking our table to our faces and the manager seemed to have no problem with it. This place is GROSS

Shane W.

Yelp
I love and miss this cafe restaurant. We went here almost everyday while we were in Paris. Food & coffee is amazing, music, atmosphere is soo good and stuffs there are so nice!

Jeff W.

Yelp
The food is delicious. The drinks are extraordinary. But the atmosphere is the best. People of all ages mingle and relax together. The staff is attentive but not intrusive. We keep going back again and again.

Yelp
I was a bit unsure when we first got to La Comète, as we were hoping to be seated outside but the manager was a bit unfriendly and told us we could not. The table we were seated at was very close to other tables and the area was a bit hot. On top of this the place was doing a great business and we were worried it was going to take awhile to order and get our food... BUT instead we had an amazing meal and the wait staff even though a little short staffed, was quick, helpful, and kind! We got the Duck Confit--really awesome and we thought the portion was a great size, the 6 Snails (escargot) which were very garlicky in a good way (they also bring out bread and snail utensils that make the experience better/ easier), and the Salmon and Fried Goat Cheese Salad--really yummy and would totally be satisfying if that was the only dish I got. They also had great drinks, I got wine but people I was with got the Pina Colada and Moscow Mule and both were good. Pricing was great--for all of this (and some drinks were on happy hour discounts) the total was 56 euro! Would recommend!!

Yelp
This is a french restaurant with (thank God) ENGLISH MENUS. They dont have everything from the french menu on their english menu so ask about the lunch special if you come before 5pm. I ordered the duck confit with creme brulee. I think we paid 15 euros for the lunch special which can be appetizer+entree OR entree+dessert. They have lamb ratatouille, duck confit, hanger steak, etc. You can also get escargot as an appetizer and it was delicious! They are a little more conservative in terms of flavor, I felt like everything couldve used a dash of salt. The creme brulee was tasty, but not as sweet as well. However, that means you can enjoy the taste of each individual dish more. The duck was super tender which made it extra good. Overall, I was very happy with the food I got and how much I paid.

Yelp
Love this place. The atmosphere is relaxing, chill and makes me feel comfortable, the service is great. The prices are affordable, and most importantly the food is really good. My wife ordered the thick steak with potatoes and I have never seen her put away potatoes this fast! I got the bacon cheeseburger with fries and love the crispiness of the fries and the flavor of the burger. The drinks are also flavorful. The rose I had ( IGP Mèditerranèe) was smooth! Had to get two glasses. My wife got the Bordeaux Supèrier and said it was very appealing to the tongue. We will definitely return tomorrow morning for more. So far our #1 spot on our Paris vacation. Hard to top this.

Yelp
I came here on my first evening in Paris and had a great time. We can before the dinner rush, and got seated quickly and was waited on attentively (especially since my friend and I do not speak French). FOOD: Selection of Cheese: Very nice little starter, and we loved sampling the different types of cheese. Salmon: This was very yummy and came with basmati rice. The salmon was done just right with crisp skin & moist insides. Escargot: Have had better escargot, however this was a great entryway for my friend who had never tried before. It was a pesto style escargot and very tender, not overdone at all. Overall: great for dinner! Pro tip: go for happy hour and get the 5€ pints! Such a great deal, and happy ambiance.

Yelp
We ordered onion soup (7 Euro) and the steak with mashed potato (14 euro). The bread that they brought to the table was outstanding - seriously wonderful, crispy French bread. The onion soup was delicious and the steak was perfectly cooked. It is also a beautiful restaurant. We sat outside under a warm heater and it was fantastic, even on a chilly night. They did provide blankets as well in case but we didn't need it.

Yelp
Was so good! I was staying at the Holiday Inn just around the block and was hungry. Looked up and place and saw that this was good. Went around 2:00 and wasn't super busy. Was handed a menu but was in French but they had an English translation. Had a a good lunch special ordered the snails as a started and chicken and rice as a main. I've never had snails before and was super nervous but it was so so so good! I ate all my chicken and rice before I could take a picture of it :(. The service was super fast and got my food within 15 minutes of ordering it and good for the price. Would recommend. Only thing is that the water wasn't super cold and without ice but that's a European thing.

Yelp
Very close to our hotel. Staff were attentive and nice. Food was perfect. Happy the positive reviews for this restaurant were on point

Yelp
Easily my favorite lunch in the area. Big enough to feel full, but not so rich to put me in a food coma before hiking up the arc. 14,5 nets you either an app and an entree, or an entree and desert. First course was the goat cheese salad. I was initially disappointed with the two little discs of cheese baked onto some small pieces of bruschetta, but quickly shut up any complaints upon the first bite. It was toasted just-right, with some poppy seeds and honey. Underneath that was some surprise ham. It was lean, dry, and flavorful, just how I like it. Eventually I got down to the actual salad, perfect arugula and shredded carrots. Loving that vinaigrette, but I can't quite put my finger on what they're using besides lemon and garlic. Second course was a bacon cheeseburger, because cheeseburgers are awesome and my appetite outweighed my hunger for adventure. Not something you can really mess up, but it is possible to put in the extra steps to make it above average. Whether it's the quality cuts of meat used, or the buns toasted on both sides, comete takes lots of those extra steps. Finally, my friends force-fed me the creme brulee, which I am usually not a fan of. Totally changed my mind. I'm convinced they could take sugar and a blowtorch to any food and make it delicious. Expect it to take a bit of time here, but it's time well spent. Good food, casual environment, and English menus for travelers like yours truly. Would return.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Steak was juicy and cooked as per request. Service was great! Our waiter made sure we were doing ok every 10mins. Personally I like that! They recommended their best wine for the type of food you're eating. I had a wonderful experience. We've gone to other restaurants and this place doesn't compare. I don't understand the bad reviews here. It's a must try! Can't wait to come back and eat here again.

Yelp
Because they have passionfruit juice... and Rebecca ate all of Bruno, cream Brulé. But seriously... this place offered great food at a great value. Service was attentive and accommodating.

Yelp
Visiting from the U.S. and it was our first day in Paris. This place was very close to our hotel and had good reviews. We all ordered different meals, Chicken Tandoori was very good, Duck was excellent, and also we had the Hanger Steak and Lamb. We all enjoyed our meals along with happy hour specials. Good quality food!

Yelp
Not closed. Went there today, April 8th, 2017. See my pics and videos. Friendly service. Good food. Traditional French.

Yelp
Great place, while visiting we have eaten there two times , very good food, great service and great atmosphere, like many of the cafes in Paris it was true to form.

Yelp
We used to go to La Comete en Rue de Archives which closed so I tracked this La Comete thinking it was the same owner. Nope. But my trip was not lost. We had the french onion soup, lamb with ratatouille, and cheeseburger with fries. Needed a cheeseburger fix. The french onion soup initially came tepid so they quickly switched it up for a hot one. The lamb was nicely prepared and the ratatouille was beyond delicious. The fries were natural and they fried them extra crispy as I requested. The burger was done "sangiant" or rare and they weren't kidding. It was rare and it was good. We topped all of this off with a freshly made tiramisu which was not super sweet but really delicious. We were happy with our food. The servers are not "on you", but you can wave them down and they are responsive. We had nice seats by the window so we could people watch, had good food and pretty good service. What else can you ask for in Paris?
google avatar

Betty B.

Yelp
Only had dessert here. Had there creme brûlée it was good, could tell it was authentic. The food everyone was getting looked delicious. Took a while to get our ticket just for dessert!
google avatar

Yelp
I have been living in Paris for 5+ months and go out to lunch every day close by, but have never eaten here. The food is reasonably priced and very good; the plat du jours were phenomenal. Highly recommend this gem.
google avatar

Joe D.

Yelp
We visited twice in one week. The homemade onion soup is wonderful. Beyond that, everyone from staff to customers were very friendly and nice.
google avatar

Phil J.

Yelp
The staff was nice and the food was good. Not a five star, but a perfectly good place to stop and have a bite. The indoor/outdoor atmosphere was really nice. Like most Parisian cafes the staff are hustling around all of the time, so don't come in for quick service. They were kind an didn't seem to mind our choppy french - they had an English menu to help. We probably won; tbe back there this trip, but if you are in the area and wondering about the place - it's worth a try. All of our meals were tasty. I had salmon, and the rest of our part of four had lamp chops, chicken and duck confit. All had good flavor and fresh ingredients.
google avatar

Martha L.

Yelp
This place was right around the corner from our hotel. It was nice to have a yummy place to get a quick bite or a drink on our way back to the room. Their créme brûlée is amazing!!! So I made sure to have one every chance I got!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
The best thing about this place is that it's open all day. I ordered a veggie salad and it was good; fresh ingredients albeit a tad light on the dressing. My friend ordered a steak and it came out like jerky. The French onion soup seemed to be made of beef bouillon cubes and cornstarch...and we saw the chef microwaving it soooo probably not the best/authentic. It's quite noisy and crowded so be prepared to wait.
google avatar

Darren C.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place (thanks again Yelp) as there was a huge line for the other place were attempting to go to. The place was really nice and service really good. Took advantage of their happy hour and ordered a Raspberry mule. Really good and should be tried. The food was good as well. My duck was tasty and the steaks my family had were good as well. The creme brulee was excellent.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
Not a bad place. The wife and I woke up early and walked around the hotel area we were staying at. We came across this place and gave it a shot. The wife ordered a simple latte and croissant while I had an espresso and salmon bagel with cream cheese. It was pleasant. I have no doubt that if we ordered more elaborate dishes they would have delivered. The service was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Average dinner. The menu is in English and understandable if you're from out of town. I asked the waiter if he recommended anything and he said, 'everything is good.' Then I asked whether he preferred the lamb or the rib steak he said, 'ones beef and one is lamb.' I'd go elsewhere for authentic french dining.

John G.

Yelp
This place is amazing and the service is best in Paris! One of the best coffee in Paris. deserts are amazing ! Food is always good ! Service is always friendly and we always felt welcome. THIS PLACE IS NOT CLOSED !
google avatar

Courtney A.

Yelp
Nothing out of the ordinary or special here. The food was fine and service minimal. We had duck confit and hanger steak - both arrived quickly but not memorable. I think there are likely better places in Paris for dinner; maybe good for a happy hour cocktail and snack.

Whit A.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. We stopped there after a long travel day and basically stumbled upon it. It was very full, but we still got a table. Don't be shy and order the croque - branch out and get something delicious. (Not that the sandwich wasn't good.) Definitely start with the escargot (again, don't be shy). I didn't know how much I liked escargot!! (And it was a great place to try them since it was so reasonably priced.) husband had the steak tartare and it was delicious. Service was great. Nice Parisian atmosphere. Total cost (with drinks and escargot appetizer) was around €42.

Kori L.

Yelp
Go here for dinner tonight. For 14€, you get a good portion of really good food. The steak with peppercorn sauce (that sauce wins the five stars by the way, I would bathe in it) and wonderful potatoes. Creme brûlée for dessert. Just really fantastic for the price of it all. That sauce you guys!!!! And I don't drink, but they made me want to. They crushed fresh raspberries and limes and added bubbly this and that, or caramelized disclaim oranges and threw it in a drink... So if alcohol is your thing, I didn't try any, but it looked fantastic. They even have potted herbs in the back you watch them use. Great, lower end cost food.

Laura G.

Yelp
Went here for dinner on my last night in Paris, wish I had gone on my first! Amazing food, amazing service and amazing atmosphere. What more could you ask for, highly recommend. It does seem to get very busy and loud inside but personally I found this added to the atmosphere
google avatar

Caroline T.

Yelp
One of my favorite hidden gems in Paris. The tall drinks are amazing (their earl gray Collins is unbelievable). I always enjoy sitting outside (they have heat lamps in winter) as it can be quite busy in winter. Their salads are excellent, as are their fresh pasta dishes. The service is quite slow however.

Taylor W.

Yelp
Drink we're amazing and well priced. The food was delicious and we all left full and happy. I also had my first escargot experience here and i can say it was great!
