La Cosmo | Dani Carnero | Restaurant in Málaga

We came on a Thursday evening and didn't make a booking, so we were seated outside. It wasn't too cold so it was ok, but would have definitely preferred to be inside. We ordered the red prawns as a starter, the prawns themselves were very nice but i did wish the heads were cooked a little longer as the juice inside was still brown instead of red, and I'm never sure if it's saved to eat the head if the juice inside is still brown. We went with three moan dishes, the grilled squid was really good, and then the pork, the sauce was incredible and finally the duck, which was cooked very nicely with a very tasty sauce. We had the chocolate cake as a dessert and it was nice, wouldn't say it was spectacular though. This was the most expensive meal we had in Málaga, whole the food was good, I did feel like we could get really nice food with a cheaper price in Malaga. But if you are looking for a fine dinning experience, this could be a good option.

Lovely dinner at La cosmo. Every dish we had was amazing - canelones, leek, sea bass, and duck. It was a nice elegant atmosphere without being too uptight and fancy. Definitely look forward to coming back and trying other dishes!

We had dinner here and sat inside at a table. Very nice smart restaurant, the service was generally good. All of the dishes we ordered were of excellent quality. One comment I have, is that we ordered the duck as our main course. The quality was excellent and cooked to perfection, but it looked very uninteresting as it was just a sliced duck breast with a brush of sauce on quite a large plate, served with a green salad which consisted of a small bowl of chopped lettuce. I personally would expect a far better presentation at this price point and quality of restaurant. However we did not let it spoil our evening. The quality of the wine was excellent and well priced,. it was Friday night it was very busy and the atmosphere was very good.

We visited La Cosmo in Málaga (Bib Gourmand 2025) for lunch, but unfortunately the experience left us rather disappointed. The food was flavorful and well presented, yet the portions were ridiculously small — €7 for a single tiny anchovy with a dot of burrata, or €24 for just a few slices of duck and a spoonful of sauce. The service, however, was the real letdown. Our waitress seemed completely disinterested — no smile, no engagement, and we waited ages just to have our order taken. We even had to ask twice for the wine we had already ordered. Olive oil for the bread was offered only after we had finished eating it. I had mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating my mother’s birthday — a special occasion that went completely unnoticed. It also felt like the staff preferred to focus on local guests, and speaking English seemed to be an inconvenience for them. While the kitchen clearly has skill, the overall experience lacked warmth, care, and the sense of hospitality you would expect from a Bib Gourmand restaurant.

Very creative take on multiple plates. Very well executed. Service was very friendly. You should make a reservation, it’s pretty popular and located in a busy area of the city.

Made last minute reservations based on Michelin guide, and as such we sat outside, which turned out to be lovely. Quiet and calm for our party of 4 to enjoy a good conversation. Service was attentive but not fussy. Lovely bottle of wine and straight into the starters. The oysters are not to be missed, so make sure to order one for each person and one of each style. The fried sea bass and it´s sauce was over the top, dip the bread in the sauce to clean the plate. The steak tartar was so nicely presented in sandwich form. The chicken with cream sauce in a pasta was delicious. Do you self a favor and order the leek carbonara. We ordered one of each of the deserts and the pear and the corn flan were the winners. Would love to return if we had more time on this trip. Overall best meal we enjoyed in Malaga, and we had many. Kudos to the kitchen and the staff.

I visited La Cosmo as a solo traveller, hoping for a pleasant experience — but it ended up being disappointing. Sharing this in case it helps other solo or international travellers manage expectations. Although the tiramisu was nice, I felt overlooked throughout the meal. I waited quite a while before anyone took my order, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. I had to signal several times just to order, ask about dessert, or pay. What stood out most was the contrast between how I was treated compared to nearby Spanish-speaking guests, who were greeted warmly and served more attentively. I speak fluent English and was polite, but still felt disregarded. I understand it’s a local spot and not all staff may speak English — but the issue wasn’t language, it was a lack of effort to make all guests feel equally included. Given its Bib Gourmand recognition, I expected a more consistent and respectful experience.

La Cosmo is a true hidden gem in the heart of Málaga, created by Chef Dani Carnero. The focus on seafood and fish is exceptional. We had the best oysters and scallops we've had in a long time. The menu features highly creative dishes, like a flan beautifully contrasted with the flavor of salty popcorn. The atmosphere is relaxed yet vibrant, with attentive and friendly service. I would honestly return to Málaga just to dine here again – an absolute must-visit.
