A huge disappointment. After travelling across Andalucía for 2 weeks, I booked this place to nicely conclude the holiday - expecting superior experience to local tabernas with a recommendation from Michelin Guide.
The service was horrible - due to an unfriendly and unwelcoming blonde lady serving the outside area (and unfortunately us as well).
She set the tone by being annoyed that we were 2, while she prepared table for 1 (per my booking, it was for 2).
She sat us right by the plate and cutlery station while there were other nicer tables at that time available - while we hesitated to sit down glancing at other tables, she just threw a cold comment to us “All tables are booked out”. First of all, I struggle to imagine all customers that have not come in picked their specific tables ahead. Secondly, there is a nicer way to communicate the same message to at least pretend to care.
While I speak Spanish and enjoy it, she forcefully spoke English all the way and gave us English menus - without asking for our preference.
Lastly, the moment we were done with eating a dish, she would stand next to us ready to jump to take the plates away, as if she wanted us to leave. Note that I have not made any comment to her about her service level, hoping she would improve, hence not giving her a reason to behave like this.
Other members of the staff seemed intimidated or inexperienced except for one older gentleman behaving oddly happy and confidently, as if oblivious to the situation that there was a lot of negative tension between the staff that evening (they stood right behind us chatting which I understood).
As we did not feel welcome, we decided to order 2 mains and order more only if we were served better during the course of the dinner, which did not happen.
We tried crab meat tortilla and their classic calamar dish. They were both just okay - nothing exquisite nor superior in quality, we tasted better food in local restaurants and tabernas around the region for less than half price. A warning sign for me was also that tortilla arrived right after we ordered which makes me doubt how fresh all the preparation was and did not give any time to slowly enjoy wine.
To conclude, I ate in many Michelin Guide and 1-3 starred Michelin restaurants - 90% of times being happy to pay more for a superior food and service. It was the opposite with La Cosmopolita.
