La Costa Wine Co. A locally owned and operated wine and craft beer shop with a great twist—there’s a welcoming area in the back where you can enjoy an impressive selection of wines and beers, paired with excellent cheeses, cold cuts, and flatbreads. From the moment you walk in, there’s a genuine sense of community. I met some amazing people and truly felt the family atmosphere that the owners have created. A big part of that comes from the team—Alessa, Reggie, Fernando, Andrew, Connor, Trianna, and Shawn—who were all fantastic: welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging, making the experience feel personal and relaxed. The space has a modern wine-cellar vibe, complemented by a really well-curated mix of music. You can immediately tell the owner is hands-on and has a great eye for building a team that fits the culture—friendly, passionate, and never pretentious. I visited a couple of Sundays in a row and found it to be the perfect balance: not overly busy, but lively enough to feel engaging and social. I also went back on a Friday, and it was lively and buzzing—a great energy without feeling overwhelming. Even better, the owner is truly hands-on, consistently checking in on guests around the room and making sure everyone is having a great experience. They offer memberships and host regular tasting events, which adds even more value for locals. This is truly a great neighborhood wine bar set in an upscale yet relaxed environment. It’s absolutely worth stopping by just to browse the excellent wine and beer selection—but like me, you’ll probably find yourself drawn to the back area, where the magic really happens.

A hidden gem! really nice wine and cheese store. They have a good selection of wine, cheeses and also some unique beers to purchase. I wish I could have spent some more time here to sit and taste some wines and have a charcutier plate as there is quite an intimate wine tasting area towards the back. Recommend for a unique experience for a wine & cheese store.

An absolutely wonderful place to have an excellent glass of wine, learn about wine and experience wines from all over the world that have been carefully procured. Can't say enough. If you love good wine, this is your place.

My normal practice is to only leave positive Yelp reviews or say nothing. However, the experience yesterday at La Costa Wine Co was so negative that I think other customers should know what they may be in for. From the blase “Can I help you?” as we walked in, to the continued sarcastic and sardonic attitude from the same woman, I started to wonder if we weren’t welcome at all. Please know that the pours are stingy (well, we didn’t have much wine anyway, because after I had to wave them down once, they never came back to our table), the service is lackluster, unconcerned, unwelcoming, non-existent...none of the charm and interest from staff that I’ve experienced at every wine bar I’ve been to in the US and abroad is to be seen, and it seems you have to be a “regular” to be welcomed. The regulars who came in about 30 minutes after us were given undivided attention by the staff while we were seemingly intentionally ignored. I could go on and on but I’ll leave it at this: I’m normally a 20 to 25% tipper, but, I left 2 bucks on the table--and upon reflection, I feel stupid for doing so.

We stopped in the complex to use a Tesla charger. While waiting I walked around and was delighted to find this little wine bar hidden in the corner. I enjoyed a flight while waiting for a cheese tray to take home.

Visited for a special event dinner with Epoch winery from Paso Robles. The owner of the store was exceedingly gracious and friendly and the event was a great success. The store has a pretty wide range of wine offerings as well as local craft beers, with several exclusive/harder to get wines as well as more mainstream options. The store is admittedly "Paso-centric" in their overall portfolio, but the prices are consistent with what you would see at the wineries. They also have cheeses for sale at the front counter.

Great, cozy, friendly place to taste all sorts of wines with reasonable prices. The staff is super nice, and we didn't even finish the first glass yet.

Very neat spot in Encinitas. Offering a decent selection of wines from all over the world. I was greeted by Conner, he was extremely helpful with wine knowledge and wine selecting. I was fond of that. I did find that the wines weren't top notch. Their best wines were over 100$. Lots of washout basic blends. I'm not trying to harp on this, I just have my own opinion. Place is cool that you can enjoy your wine on site and they have meats and cheeses and chocolates to enjoy. Just think they should offer more exclusive wines. I'm always interested in things against the grain. Cheers.

I love coming here on Wednesday night for the flights with friends. I feel like the staff changes regularly because with the exception of one or two regular servers there are always new faces. They can't always answer my questions but they try. I miss the outside tables they had but I'm sure that is out of their control now that other businesses have opened and Covid isn't prevalent. On this particular visit I grabbed a bottle of bubbly from the front. Out of our group of four one showed up late and one took a bit a to decide. It took a while for someone to return to our table (we had two servers taking our orders) after the first flight was ordered. My bottle sat on the table for a bit before someone came to open for me. He did not offer to chill it for me and getting anyone's attention wasn't easy. Finally, when another server returned to take the rest of the orders he said would you like this chilled and brought a bottle chiller, probably 30 minutes after the bottle was originally opened. We ordered the goat cheese and bread for the table and it was really good. All the food I've had her has been good. I like the cheese plates too. I'm being generous with the fourth star because I come here regularly and haven't had issues with the service in the past, but I would give this visit 3 stars normally.

I've been coming to La Costa Wine for years and always have a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, making every visit enjoyable. I love picking up Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc here, and their wine tastings are fantastic. Their food, especially the cheese boards, is absolutely amazing!

One of my favorite secret spots for a GREAT glass of wine and even better service and ambiance! Love that you can choose a bottle to buy and open for a glass to enjoy there. Manager is so knowledgeable and nice

My husband and I finally visited La Costa Wine Co this past weekend. They have a rather large selection of wines, beers, kombuchas, and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from. Upon entering, there is a refrigerator with a display of delicious cheeses! We opted for grabbing a table and ordered food from their nicely curated menu. We shared a cheeseboard with spicy Calabrese. The board came with Marcona almonds, dried fruit, olives, bread, crackers, stone ground mustard, corn nuts and we added additional marcona almonds with truffle and parmesan and a side of honeycomb. Let me tell you that we both devoured it all! It was delicious. We also ordered a flat bread that had Mozzarella, pesto, and sun-dried tomatoes. We really enjoyed the food here. For drinks, he had I believe was a wine from Rhone? I don't recall the actually name but it was really good. I opened for a glass of blanc di blanc sparkling wine and chardonnay. Overall, we enjoyed our experience.

What a gem! Ambiance is wine shop, oak barrels and what not. Love that you can pick out a bottle and drink it there or get a glass from the wine list. Small bites like flatbread and cheese samplers. No kitchen food. Servers love wine and are super helpful with suggestions. See what you like and you can even become a member. Special wine dinners and tasting events. Can't wait to go back for more sips.

I LOVE this spot. Unfortunately it's a place I "lost in the breakup" as I'm not local and they are. The wine selection is fantastic and the staff always nails recommendations. I also really love the charcuterie boards for a snack. Can be a bit much when it's crowded since the space is small but when it's empty it makes for a perfect little low key evening. I really do miss this place!

Conor really knows his wine and he is super personable....he loves to share his knowledge and makes excellent recommendations. 5 stars to him. The place is pretty tiny with a bar that seats maybe 4? A few tables that seat 4 each and one long high top that seats 8-10. We have had a few meetups with 12 people and they do their best to reserve their largest table. But I do think this overwhelms them and it can be difficult to get timely service. When it's a full house, it can be quite stuffy/hot. They do have doors that open out onto El Camino Real but it seems they don't like to do that because of the traffic noise. I love the people and the wine selection but the venue could use a remake, with access to fresh air or some other kind of ventilation.

This is hands down my favorite spot in La Costa right now. Amazing selection of wine that is picked by a very knowledgeable group. The owner Michelle is great at making sure there's a huge diversity of wines to pick from. They do wine flights that range from 3-5 pours. These pours are generous too. But don't worry because they have small bites like hummus and pita bread or charcuterie boards. Their tasting area is in the back of the shop where you can do glasses, flights, or purchase a bottle and relax. Unfortunately for my wallet I've become a regular here and even joined their monthly wine club. Definitely worth checking out this gem hidden in the corner of a very up and coming plaza.

Ok wow!! Where have I been? I drive by this place all the time and see a fun gathering of people outside but never knew the extent of the inside, which is amazing! Fresh popcorn smell greets you as you walk in with rows and rows of wine bottles organized before you. The cheeseboards are lovely with a great selection of nibbles. The refrigerator section is impressive!! A vast array of wine bottles are clearly labeled by price, and the beer selection is massive! Also an array of non alcoholic beverages are available so everyone is accommodated. Love this concept of an easy going upper class bar with a locals vibe and very affordable price point.

Such a nice place to relax and have some wine. I have been here before and loved it! The service is great and very attentive. Come by and check it out. They have a wide selection of wines from all over.

Nice quiet ambiance and with a huge selection of wines you can enjoy. Had 2 bottles of Malbec from Napa that was delicious. They have cheese and charcuterie boards to go with your wine along with beer choices for the non-wine drinkers. Staff and servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Their wine club has offers and wine pick ups for members and free glasses of wine as well.

Fun place to grab a casual glass of wine solo or with a small group. It's pretty small inside but makes for a cozy atmosphere. They do sell all kinds of wine but you can also buy wine by the glass. It's pretty expensive. $18/glass of red. They also offer light snacks, portions are very small. There is also a pretty good sized cheese selection for purchase. A great hidden gem for locals!

What hidden hidden gem! Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and tasty wine and snacks. Such a great spot, and you are almost never going to have to wait for a table at this fun tasting room. This is one of my favorite spots that I'm always trying to take new friends to! They have such a large selection of wines to pick from, and all the staff are so knowledgeable to help you make sure you like the one you purchase. All the staff are willing to go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with your wine! Great place for wine-o's!

We came here on a Friday evening around 6pm and we got very lucky and were able to get a table. We were greeted right away and our waiter thoroughly explained the menu to us. I ordered a wine flight which includes 3 different wines for $16. We also got a 1 cheese board and the artichoke flat bread. We were huge fans of the cheese board and the wine but both agreed the flat bread was just ok. This is a super cute spot for a date night or a good place to come unwind after work with friends. They had tons of bottles for purchase as well. We will definitely be back soon!

My partner and I had a really pleasant experience visiting La Costa for a glass of wine. They had a large selection of wine for a small building and I loved the ambiance and kindness of the employees.

This is a great place to stop by if you need to purchase wine or have time to kill while Supercharging your Tesla. The staff is very friendly, the store is very large and clean. The wine offerings were a big selection and ambiance on a Saturday night was relaxing. It's tucked away in the back corner of a shopping complex, so keep walking until you find it.

Great place to begin a date. Nice atmosphere. Wine was delicious. Charcuterie board was delicious. They were not aware of the Yelp offer of a free cheese board with check-in, but they did honor it in the end with no push back. All the service staff we encountered were very courteous and attentive. To quote Arnold..."I'll be back!"

Small pours and over priced! Staff aren't very welcoming. 17 dollars for a ok glass of wine is a bit excessive. Wasn't given the option when ordering what size i wanted. Was poured the larger size 5oz when I asked about she said, " restaurants serve 6oz that's why it looks small". Why would a wine bar sell smaller pours than a restaurant ‍

I've been coming here since it was at the old location near Dove Library (they supplied the wine for our wedding) and although the owners have since changed, the warm welcoming vibes have not. Highly recommend for good wine, cheese/charceuterie boards and cozy ambiance.

I really enjoyed La Costa Wine! LOCATION: It was a bit hard to find because of the construction in the complex. It's on the opposite side of the complex as Equinox. Look for the corner building with the blue dome. WINE: I had the wine flight. Our server was veryyyy generous with the pours. All five wines were delicious. We also ordered the cheese plate. The display was great and the cheese/nuts/bread/figs/olives were yummy. AMBIENCE: It's a small place, but it has plenty of seating. I saw a group celebrating a birthday. There are high and low tables available for seating, as well as the bar. SERVICE: Our server was attentive and personable. He was also knowledgeable about each wine he poured.

Not dog friendly by all means. After searching for a winery on Yelp, La Costa Wine came up, but we were not welcomed. Should remove from being dog friendly.

Love the casual vibe. Got a cheese plate, which was a delicious and a good portion of food for one person, and enjoyed a nice white one upon recommendation from the server. I'd been wanting to try this place for awhile, as it's right by my gym, and it didn't disappoint.

This place really is a gem. Friendly service, awesome wines, and lovely ambience is best way to describe La Costa Wine Co. It's hidden in an strip mall so to speak and it's easy to miss the entrance to the mall complex but not to worry!! If you miss it, make a right when you hit La Costa and then turn right like you are going to go into that fancy gym called Equinox but just drive pass it cuz you really just want to have some wine and you will see La Costa Wine Co. Do a check in and you get a free cheese plate! We did the summer wine flight and it was so good!!

They have a great selection of liquor and wine here. You can also find your favorite selections of cold beer. This place is just great, it's well stocked and I'm sure you'll be able to find what you are looking for. I can't get enough of this place I will be coming back whenever I need a good couple bottle of wine. In fact I came here the following week because we had special get together with my friends. I got a few bottles of Cabernet, chardonnay, and rose. I live very close to here so it's very convenient, even if I didn't I surely would come back because the staff here is very nice and will help you in choosing the perfect wines. With all the great selection that they have I don't see myself going anywhere else they recommend to anyone that's looking for some good wine or beer

Back behind the La Costa shopping center, tucked in the corner is the loveliest wine bar. What used to be the old library where we checked out children's books and heard storytelling, now is La Costa Wine Co. They have been here for many years and to me they are a hidden oasis. Great service and an excellent wine apothecary to choose from. They offer a minimal corkage fee for drinking their bottles in house. I love the selection that they carry. Organic wines are featured in a section of their shop as are various cheese and meat offerings.

Kevin is a pro. Staff is incredible! This spot has it all. Great wine selection, wonderful food menu, AMAZING STAFF. This spot carries something for everyone. I can grab a special occasion bottle and a case of every day wine in one visit. When we want a leisurely lunch and wine we hit this spot up. Great patio and atmosphere. Thank you!

We were driving home from San Diego and decided to stop in for some wine. I was happy to see they had a check-in offer for a free cheese plate. The staff member was super friendly and created a cheese plate that paired well with the bottle of wine we chose. The cheese plate was straight up amazing! They have an amazing selection of wine and the prices are very reasonable. I think we will definitely make a habit of stopping in here whenever we come back from SD.

We had an amazing botttle of wine and the most friendly server, Matt. Made sure when they didn't have the wine we were looking for they'd find something we'd love. He couldn't have been anymore knowledgeable and accommodating. And Everyone here is so friendly and helpful we can't wait to come back.

I had passed by La Costa Wine so many times before actually trying it and now its a favorite spot! really great customer service, wine is wonderful, and the food is delicious. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience here! The service, atmosphere, choice of wine, food and products at the front, just made all of us wanna come back again! The four of us decided to grab a glass here after eating. Although it's tucked in a corner in a quiet plaza, thanks to Yelp we found this cool spot to hang out! At the front you'll see a display fridge full of cold cuts and cheese, from where they pull out stuff to make your charcuterie. Along the wall you'll also see some interesting local products like honey and snacks. The bar tables and a large community table are located at the back, so you'll walk and browse through the shelves of wine as you make your way to the tables. You can order by the glass or pick a bottle! You can also bring your own wine and the corkage is $5, but you're in a wine cellar, what's the point to bring your own wine then lol. The service was amazing. The lady was knowledgeable about the wines and made some good recommendations. By checking in, you get a free cheese board (single) that is worth $9, but the lady was nice to let us use that $9 credit toward a bigger cheese board! Great experience here! Can't wait to come back again for another fun night of hanging out!

I live just around the corner from this place and have been contemplating coming in for months. I finally decided to swing by yesterday and do a tasting to see what they had to offer. Elaine was pleasant, helpful, and sweet. She recommended wines that I actually liked and let me try things before I committed to a glass. In addition, the other people who were there tasting wine were also sociable and fun. I've never been to a wine bar and had such a pleasurable conversation with other customers. I will for sure be coming back.

Amazing cheeese and meet board and Great wine! So happy this place is a must go for sure , we are local and so glad we come here. And the painting looks fun but we did not do it but maybe next one because the teacher is incredible!!!!! Be back soon thanks !
