Lovely setting, great food, excellent service, highly recommend

The most delicious French food we had in France. We passed by the region and we were invited by friends to stop by this restaurant.... All was just amazing - the food, the drinks, the deserts... oh, the deserts... best "creme brulee" ever!

It was a beautiful evening to enjoy a meal outside by the river, but the grumpy guy at the bar gruffly shut that suggestion down. Should have turned around and left right then because the 4 mains we had were below average, except the beef - which was as tough as a mule’s hind leg! Definitely one to avoid.

La Coutine, if not the Heart of Cognac, it certainly projec5s all you need of the community. Beauty, excellent staff, food, drinks and on the banks of River La Charente within Park Francois 1st. Beautiful meal with friends. Excellent food, friendly staff and perfect location.

Easy to book online and confirmation email received quickly. Normally we visit in the summer and sit on the terrace with the views of the Charente. As cooler weather we sat inside. Lovely atmosphere. Staff are attentive and friendly. Food is well cooked and presented. We have never had any issues with the service or quality of the food. The cost for three course meal, wine and coffee is very good value. The main menu does not change which is great for consistency of the quality of the food.Although they do have dishes of the day. It does get booked up so well worth booking, especially if a large party. Parking is right outside.

Lovely restaurant on the banks of the Charente river. The terrace was open and the restaurant was fully booked. Because it was the first really good weather day of the year, the team was a bit overwhelmed, leading to small overcharging mistakes and long wait. Good choice of menus and a la carte dishes. Generous portions. If portions reduced in quantity, the dishes could be a bit cheaper. Overall, a good experience but double check the bill and catch the attention of the waiters.
