If you are looking for an all around good Italian restaurant, then La Cucina might be it. Enjoyed a delicious entree of flounder francaise with shrimp over angel hair pasta and rigatoni bolognese. Portions were generous and dinners were served with bread and a small trio of sun dried tomato infused oil, butter and pesto for dipping. The house salad was tasty and my dessert of choice, crème brûlée, was nice as well. Tony, our seasoned server, was outstanding. The atmosphere was comfortable and had a nice ambiance (and I love white linen tablecloths). Overall a great choice.

Just attended a bridal shower. The side room was perfect for the intimate group of 30. Enough room for gifts , games, beverage and dessert station. Staff was attentive and the food was excellent. Menu included appetizers for the table, and we were able to order our salad and entree from a special limited menu that had 6 Or 7 really great selections. Nicely done.

Google
Shout out to La Cucina for an amazing Mother’s Day weekend dinner. I visited with my mom and sister and we all just loved it! The setting is beautiful with simple yet elegant decor. There is an outdoor patio with seating as well. We shared the calamari for appetizer and it was tender and flavorful. Our meals were absolutely delicious (trout with risotto, veal marsala and capellini with crab) and the portion size was just right. We loved the homemade desserts as well (tiramisu, crème brûlée and limoncello cake). The staff were all super friendly and attentive and didn’t rush us at all. This is our new favorite restaurant in the area and we are already planning to return!

Google
I had an incredible experience at La Cucina . The food was nothing short of amazing ,every dish was beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. You could really taste the quality and attention to detail in each bite. Beyond the food, the staff truly made the night special. They were warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place where both the service and the food are equally exceptional. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
A friend recommended La Cucina Ristorante in Northfield so on our last night we made a reservation and drove over. Fairly typical Italian restaurant in New Jersey. Very good service (thanks Brian)! Pretty typical menu but well-prepared Italian fare. I tried the burrata with pears and prosciutto. Extremely good with the right blend of salty and sweet and meaty and cheesy. I tried the pasta special which was Cavatelli in a blush sauce and lump crab meat. Very good! Nothing fancy, but what I think of as nice sturdy food! Would definitely try them again. No dessert because Evan and Ginny wanted to try A La Mode again. I waited in the car and got ducked with a huge red duck by a family also headed to A La Mode!!

Google
I had a private event of around 50ppl. I could not say enough good things about how well my event went & all because of the amazing staff & amazing food this place has. From the first email I sent inquiring pricing the service was fast. I got quick responses from Elis which was my point of contact. Then the day of the event 3/26 the servers were super nice & welcoming. The food was amazing! Served quickly & everything tasted amazing. So if your looking to do an event or just have some dinner...highly recommend this La Cucina.

Google
We three met for lunch at La Cucina today;! As usual, all three salads ordered: in Salata Italiano, wholesome salad and mandorla were cold and super fresh! attentive service. This place never disappoints!

Google
Let’s talk about Risotto Di Mare—or as I like to call it now, “Risotto Di Mid.” I ordered their seafood risotto in cognac rosé sauce expecting elegance, depth, and, oh I don’t know… a pink sauce?! Instead, I got a beige, vaguely orange mess that tasted like someone whispered “cognac” over a pot of shrimp-flavored milk. This wasn’t rosé, this was ros-no. The color was off, the flavor was flat, and the only thing “elevated” was the price tag. If you’re going to advertise a rose sauce, then maybe, just maybe, it should actually resemble a rose sauce—both in color and taste. I’ve had ramen seasoning packets with more finesse. If you’re going to put fancy French-Italian words on your menu, make sure the food backs it up. This was more “cognac catastrophe” than culinary creation.

Yelp
Excellent family owned restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were all friendly and accommodating. We were able to sit outside on their patio since it was really nice weather. We recommend this place and plan to go back again when in the area.

Yelp
Went 8/1 for dinner with my father around 7pm. Was not busy at the time and we were sat right away and was looking forward to trying the restaurant for the first time as a local. We then sat for 20 mins when during that time one person placed bread and water at the table with no plates, and multiple wait staff continued to walk around us and talk to other tables, set up the empty tables directly next to us and no one came up to take any food order. When still no one came to take any order we left a small tip for the piece of bread we ate and left. Horrible service a shame if the food is good would never go back to try.

Yelp
Went for valentine's day for first time. Not too impressed with service. server was an older gentleman who was very friendly but seemed to be lost at time.made reservations in advance so expected to be little issue's upon arrival. -Not silverware was set. Had to ask for it twice. Even after appetizer was delivered, he still missed it! - took about 15-20 minutes to see server after being seated. -Had to ask for bread cause he forgot too. - had to ask for water cause he forgot too. Was not impressed with Overall food quality. Carluccio's down the street has better pasta at a better price. My wife and I used to frequent this place when it was Roberta's. but it seems like those days are gone. Nice place, would give it a try again but there's room To improve and work out those kinks.

Yelp
Amazing food! I've been back about 6 times of the summer. Each time tried a new meal and each dinner was better than the last. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place and the food is quite solid even, but the service and overall experience were severely lacking. Tables don't get cleared so you are surrounded by dirty dishes, our waitress was bafflingly rude and the timing between appetizers and the meal itself was awful. Our first set of bread took over 20 minutes to come out and only had two slices in the basket. Did we get someone else's used bread? Our starter was decent, we had the sausage and rapini, although the portion was small and the rapini a bit under seasoned. The mains were good but nothing extraordinary. I went with the truffle cream sauce chicken dish and my dad had the salmon with farrow. I cleaned the plate, but felt everything was a tad overpriced for the overall experience. I also got maybe 2 pieces of crab on a dish that was supposed to feature it. There are better options in the area. It seemed the summer crowd really overwhelmed this place. Probably won't be back.

Amy L.

Yelp
We've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. It's Italian but not typical Americanized Italian food. The service is always impeccable. Couldn't recommend it enough!

Tara M.

Yelp
SUCH a ripoff. I had to check the price of a water which is my fault for just assuming it would be a normal price. A Panna water is like 2-3$. It was 8$. That's 3 times as much as it is in the store. The guy was rude, and I also got a salad with a half full small cup of dressing. I want to say it was the equivalent of a tablespoon. No amount of shaking it was going to disperse the dressing. I ate a bowl of dry spinach with the sparse toppings at the bottom. Crazy because we had our wedding reception there 3.5 years ago and it was pretty good. My husband's dish also had not a lot of pasta in it for the price. I would never recommend this place--it's not bad by any means but is in no way shape or form justified in charging people so much for such unremarkable food and skimping on portions. Really we only went here because Venturas is going through renovations and while the menu looked good I feel like we've been had. If you want actual good Italian food, go to Buena Vita or Sunday Gravy, or Venturas when it opens back up.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant with 2 other couples. We had never been before and I can say after last night we will never be back. Our meal and dining experience were a huge disappointment. I started with the Caesar salad, which was good, nothing unusual, or outstanding. The rolls on the table were warm, but inside seemed quite stale. We waited longer than usual for our entrées. Nothing complicated when they came out everyone said that their meals were lukewarm. I found my meal to be more on the chilly side. I notified our waiter, who took it back and several minutes later, came back with a heated up meal, I noticed on the initial presentation and then when brought back, it was quite a disappointment. It was chicken piccata with one chicken breast cut in half on top of the smallest amount of linguine. I have ever seen. Once he did it off, it tasted fine, nothing unusual. To top off the evening when our bill came, we asked the waiter to split in three ways. When the credit cards came back, he had added an additional $50 to each credit card. my husband went over to our waiter, and when he pointed this out to him, he did not even seem surprised or concerned. all in all, not a stellar experience, and definitely not worth the money paid. There are much better Italian restaurants in the area and seem to appreciate it's customers a bit more.

Dana A.

Yelp
amazing service, good calamari, & caesar salad... However, only three slices of bread offered, chicken parmigiana is only one piece of chicken, seafood dish only two shrimps .... The food needs improving.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Always accommodating with an exceptional dining experience We especially love the BYOB opportunity

Yelp
We simply had a fantastic experience here last night both food wise and service wise. Jenifer was thoroughly entertaining and super efficient. The chef/owner was very accommodating. We have certain dietary restrictions and they handled it with ease and pleasure. He also made me sautéed calamari instead of fried. Every dish we had was superb quality cooked with obvious talent. Menu has a wide variety of selections plus specials to accommodate any and all tastes. House made deserts were outstanding also. Highly recommend you give this restaurant a try you'll be glad you did. Promise. Also keep in mind portions are huge on top of being very reasonably priced.

Mike B.

Yelp
Great dinner from start to finish... Burrata, poached pear and prosciutto was off the charts... I had a great short rib ragu and my wife worked with the waitress to design her own version of a menu item, the chef agreed and the resulting shrimp, crab risotto was awesome...

Yelp
Fantastic food Excellent service And the ambiance is stunning Outdoor patio would remind you of a Italian cafe on the street

Yelp
Made a reservation for Father's Day. The service was very attentive and our waitress was hilarious and kept us all laughing over the course of our dinner. However, the food was just decent and the portions are pretty small. I thought the food was bland and was really nothing too impressive. Additionally, a lot of the entrees that should come with pasta are not served with pasta. Overall, service was excellent, they have a nice outdoor dining area, but food was overall bland.
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Eh. The only memorable part of our meal was dessert. We wanted to really like it. The bread was from frozen and was freezer burned. The Cesar salad was bland and nothing to write home about. The Parmesan pizza restaurant style shaker really set the tone. If we are fine dining. Come around with some shaved Parmesan. Cioppino was ok. Server was great and attentive. But food lacked flavor.
google avatar

Doris T.

Yelp
The 4 stars are mostly for the ambience. My husband and I went to the restaurant for a date to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We requested to sit at the beautiful porch. The girl serving us was also very nice. However, the food was only ok. We shared some fried calamari for appetizer. For the entree, my husband had a Philly cheesesteak and I had pollo Milanese. Both dishes were kind of bland and sorry looking. The plates they served the food in also looked a bit dirty. The lunch menu was also pretty limited. All in all, I would go probably go back for dinner, but mostly for the environment.

Yelp
Food was delicious, desert was amazing and our server Christina was wonderful! Definitely will be going again!

Yelp
Just had my son's small wedding of 30 people at La Cucina Ristorante yesterday. The food was amazing ! The room was absolutely beautiful and the wait staff were very efficient . I couldn't have asked for a better wedding venue . I had never been there for dinner before but I had heard great reviews . I'm looking forward to many dinners there in the future .

Yelp
We came here for my Best Friends Birthday! The Food and Service was Outstanding! And this restaurant is BYOB! I had the Eggplant and Fresh Mozzarella Appetizer which was Excellent! And the Rack of Lamb pictured below was Flavorful and Delicious! There were 8 of Us and not one complaint to be had. Even the Owner/Chef came out to ask us how our experience was. If you are looking for Fine Dining Alfresco then this is it! A must try! We will be returning!

Yelp
This was my first time at this place, and I heard it had great recommendations. I had a great meal and it was clean with linen tablecloth and wine glasses ready for the table. The menu looks wonderful and the staff was great to meet and talk to.

Yelp
Ate here for Mother's Day lunch. The staff were wonderful, which is something you don't get very often these days. Very attentive and polite. The food was good but some dishes were a bit overpriced. Would come again.

Yelp
A great Italian restaurant where you are being welcomed by the chef who is the owner. Food is delicious and not overpriced Just don't forget to bring your own bottles

Yelp
Don't miss the opportunity to have lunch or dinner - OR BOTH - at La Cucina in Northfield, NJ. The best chicken cutlets ever. As delicious if not better than our grandmother's were! Impeccable, courteous, professional and attentive service! Fantastic outdoor and indoor dining. Wonderful - CONSISTENTLY!

Yelp
Ok experience, good meal and so so service. The place itself is very nice inside. Decorated nicely and they have a nice outdoor seating area. The first thing brought out was bread. Soft on the inside with a crunchy crust; very good. The bread came with oil and pesto to dip as well as butter. I thought it strange that for two people we received three pieces. For an appetizer we ordered the Octopus which is one of my favorites so I had to try theirs. It had pieces of grilled Octopus with thinly sliced potatoes (almost chip like), shallots, peppers, and a pesto. This was my favorite part of the meal. The Octopus was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The other parts of the dish were also very good and made it a perfect first bite. I know this seems like it shouldn't be an issue, but I actually thought it was too big for an app for two people. My wife ordered the Capellini with Meatballs which she enjoyed. She really liked the meatballs. I had one of the specials which was blackened Sturgeon over saffron risotto and English peas. The fish was cooked nicely and had great flavor. I'm not sure if I've had Sturgeon before, but I liked it a lot. However, the risotto was very bland and was the worst part of the meal. We saved some room for dessert because they had two of my wife's favorites, creme brûlée and Tiramisu. We split both for each to try. I frankly didn't think either were anything I'd try again. I prefer my Creme Brûlée a little firmer. The Tiramisu had more whipped cream than cake and was topped with a Carmel sauce from a bottle and not fresh made. The server wasn't very congenial and I felt like she didn't want to be there. She did everything a server should, but it just wasn't very pleasant.

Yelp
Have not picked up order yet so cannot comment on food. Always good in the past. Have not picked up order yet so cannot comment on food. Always good in the past. Have not picked up order yet so cannot comment on food. Always good in the past.

Yelp
6 o'clock reservations and we were literally out of there by 630. Since we were there 15 minutes early. Literally 45 minutes from beginning to end in a fine dining establishment. Our salmon was undercooked probably because our food came out so fast. When we came in no one came to greet us and the harried waitress told us to sit anywhere. Watching how other people were fawned over and greeted, we felt like the poor relations. The chairs were dirty and stained. Overall not our best experience. This is not our first time so I know they can do better.
google avatar

Britni D.

Yelp
If we lived around here we'd come often. It was our first time in this area and this restaurant did not disappoint. I wish I got our servers name because he was amazing. We were nervous about taking our 2 toddlers to a more fine dining after a whole beach day but I can say they didn't make a peep because they were devouring the delicious food. Our dishes were amazing and came out so quick. Can't say enough good things about the service. Also if you like coconut try the tiramisu !!! It was to die for. Thanks so much La Cucina, wish you were in our home town.

Yelp
Everyone on the staff was extremely nice and the service was great. Heard good things about the food from friends and family and it lived up to the hype! Can't wait to come back

Yelp
Tried this little Italian restaurant in the heart of Northfield, NJ. Surprisingly, they were not listed on Yelp, but they are not new. I must comment on how great the service was. We had our choice of dining indoor or outdoor, so we chose the patio. The tables are spread out and they have heat lamps. The waiter offered to open out wine bottle and shared the specials with us. We decided to try an appetizer, Jumbo Shrimp with roasted red peppers, artichokes, and Burrata. We also ordered the superfood salad to share. Both were delicious. The dressing on the salad was light and the Burrata with the shrimp was amazing. Next I had capellini with meatballs. Meatballs were great, nothing special about the capellini. My brother-in-law ordered the Ravioli con Funghi, and wow, that was my favorite entree on the table. The fresh bread was a bit hard, but the pesto dipping oil was tasty. For dessert we tried the cheesecake and blueberry sorbet. I would like to come back and try some more dishes. If you are in the area, give them a try for take-out or dining in. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Joe T.

Yelp
Average. Veal dish presents 3 medallion pieces with 2 pieces good but they slide a third on the plate that is inedible. Not very accommodating to requests and the plates are sparsely filled. One and done. Expensive for BYOB
google avatar

Gail S.

Yelp
Service not great and food average at best! We thought by other reviews it would have been better. No one was wowed by anything we had. Bronzino, salmon, Seafood Fradiablo, Seafood Risotto, and a veal dish. All sub par.
google avatar

Uriel M.

Yelp
The Gnocchi Dolce is absolutely divine! The flavor profile is perfection! When I go back to Jersey my home town to visit this is a must! First time I had delivery second time I went in the place is cozy and inviting byob! Also the mushroom risotto was delicious along with the burrata with procscuitto!

Bernadette H.

Yelp
Wonderful! We'd give 10 stars if it were an option. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Family friendly, and romantic and elegant at the same time! The Staff is kind and attentive. Welcoming us as we arrived. They made our experience top notch, even giving special consideration to my husband who is in a wheelchair. The food was the best I've had and the portions allowed us to try a little from each plate. I honestly have no idea what I wI'll order the next visit because everything (and I do mean everything ) was so delicious!! We've already purchased gift certificates and intend to make this a special place to bring family when they come to visit. But personally, you can bet, we will be "Regulars".

Yelp
On first impression as I walked in the room it was very nicely appointed. And as always I take look at the online menu so I know what to expect. Being a transplant from Vegas I know what a balanced menu should be and La Cucina didn't disappoint. We didn't want to sit near the door as it was 34 degrees outside so we were shown to a table near the kitchen which I thought was a good choice and we could see how the cuisine machine works. I don't recommend sitting close to the kitchen. Ventilation is a problem. Smoke reached out to our table and my wife had to leave the table to get some fresh air in the other part of the restaurant that was filled with diners. They must have been return customers because our table was the only one occupied by the kitchen. Their menu price point didn't meet my expectations of what I thought I was going to see on the plate. Buying big plates and not utilizing the extra space for presentation shows no love or maybe it's laziness. Nevertheless, we came hungry and dug in. Being a foodie I was not impressed. Mediocre at best. And that went for everyones choice. I will say that our waitress was top notch and was totally attentive and our 20% tip reflected our satisfaction. Please excuse me as I jump in the shower and wash the kitchen aromas out of my hair and clothes. The end..........
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
I was expecting more from this place since the reviews on Yelp were pretty good. The prosciutto in our appetizer wasn't fresh (it was dry and stiff), the meatball app was subpar (tasted like glorified meatloaf), and the pasta dish had literally no flavor whatsoever and even the crab meat tasted dry and old. I had to add about 10 spoonfuls of grated cheese and a lot of salt and pepper to my meal just to give it somewhat of a flavor to be able to eat a few bites. The creme brûlée was the only decent thing I ate here. To be fair- I've eaten at a lottt of really good restaurants, so I just may be pickier than others. But I most likely won't be coming back here again because it just didn't wow me whatsoever. Service was great though!

Yelp
Real authentic Italian restaurant. Good food , big servings and excellent prices. Our waiter was informative and very attentive to our needs. BYOB , every thing was hot fresh and made to order, I would definitely come back next time I am in Northfield.

Dominic D.

Yelp
Amazing service, the food was absolutely incredible!! We will be back!!! Didn't take pictures of the apps but had burrata and octopus both were gigantic for an app and delicious!!! Highly recommend and we can't wait to go back!!

Ann B.

Yelp
Wonderful service, great menu and the food was delicious. We split meatballs and broccoli rabe and it was great. The gnocchi was the best I've ever had. Perfect meal!

Danielle D.

Yelp
I worked here for 41/2 years and I did everything for this restaurant and for the customers. I was let go for no good reason and I was treated unfairly. I loved my job and the customers. I have been trying to get my job back for almost 2 years but the owner won't take me back. I loved the food and I had my daughters birthday and graduation parties there. I guess no matter how good of a server you are it doesn't matter to them. To top it off I can't get hired at any other Albanian restaurants because I guess I was black balled. It's really sad because I'm a single mother with 2 daughters that I need to support. I need a consistent job. I love serving and I have many years of experience. I just want another chance, everyone deserves that.
google avatar

Janet F.

Yelp
The food here is top-notch! Honestly, the chef really knows how to cook. The food is ALWAYS delicious! The staff are wonderful, too. HIGHLY recommend La Cucina! It's a BYOB, too.

Yelp
I made a reservation for a party of 10 @ 830. It's my sisters high school graduation from mainland. We walked in and one of the servers looked at us and approached us. He said "party of 10? 830?" I said yes! He proceeded to tell us that our table was ready outside. IT WAS RAINING!!!! The server looked at us confused and didn't know what to say. Then he walked us all outside AND TRIED TO SIT US. The tablecloth was spoken wet! The chairs were wet and the water glasses even had rain water in them!!! I was so angry I didn't even know what to say. I immediately told my party, LETS GO! NOW. The only thing I regret is not taking a picture of the table they tried to sit us at. It would have been different if he would have let us know that we would have to wait for a table etc etc. But no, he really tried to sit us outside in the rain. Clearly I'm upset. Will never return.

Joan P.

Yelp
Our group of 16 went to dinner here for the first time last evening. We were very impressed with the lovely room that we were seated in. The service was on point by our lovely and enthusiastic server, Summer, She was very professional, with a great sense of humor, and obviously enjoyed meeting people and making sure we enjoyed our dining experience. The food was very good (ex. chicken parm, risotto, home-made pasta with mushrooms and a short rib ragu, Bronzino, salmon, soups, salads,, desserts), They were very accommodating in substituting items (ex. cavatelli for risotto) We all agreed that we will be back!

Rose M.

Yelp
La Cucina Restaurante they say! When we walked in we were asked, "Would you like to sit in our new dining area?" Big yes!! We were escorted to a beautiful dining room with white linen covered tables, tables nicely set...waiters were very attentive throughout our meal. We ordered Arrancini balls which were just okay...rice and a mixture of peas, carrots, and corn. No cheese or meat. Our dinner was good and creme brulee was fantastic! Part of the downfall here was the music! I love Rock n Roll BUT this is an Italian Restaurant NOT a Sportsbar. If I'm going to dine at an Italian restaurante I want to feel the whole "La Cucina Restaurante" vibes and this certainly was not it.

Sheryl S.

Yelp
We have been there several times and recommended this restaurant to others. Not any more. The service was slow the food was uncooked and the manager was obnoxious. First he wouldn't come out and address the issue. Then he blamed the waitress. then the cook. This place has gone downhill faster than a roller coaster. This place used to be good but now is far less than acceptable. Go to a place where if you have an issue, you don't get an argument, and the food is properly cooked.

Holly B.

Yelp
To start with the (small) negative, our wait staff could have been a bit friendlier. She basically only showed up when a new course was ready. I would have liked more pesto for the bread course, but by time we saw her again I was over it. But - no one cares because the food was spectacular. Like not "pretty good" but actually amazing. This stuff really is good. I had the beet salad and the mushroom ravioli. Both so delicious. The stuffed pork chop is also nice. We didn't have room for dessert (I'm up finishing my ravioli right now). I just wish our waitress had paid a little more attention when I was trying to buy a side of the great pesto. She smiled and said yes it is great but then grabbed our plates and left. I was hoping that meant she'd give us a little cup to take home but no, it meant that eventually she would come back with a bill. Eventuuuaaally. But it's cool - the food was great and I would recommend this place to anyone. I will for sure be back.

Yelp
A pretty place with lots of both indoor and outdoor seating. That's where the positive ended! A pal and I went for dinner last evening. We split a tasteless, Parmesan less. watered down bottled dressing Cesar salad. My short ribs were very heavenly over salted to the point it was unenjoyable. My friends veal piccata was a disgrace! The veal was grey in color and the only liquid on the plate and the food was undrained water from the pasta. I ended the disaster with a cup of brewed coffee that was so burned that half a pitcher of the cream could not change the color of the brew. We both agreed that what we thought would be a promising place to dine in the future is now off our list after two consecutive visits to La Cucina. What a shame

Yelp
This was our first time here and the entire experience was amazing!! The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure we were having a great experience. The food was out of this world. Here's a pic of the delicious crab pasta with truffle pesto sauce. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Food and service were first class. The place is very unassuming but has an authentic Italian feel. Every course was delicious, definitely a keeper
