"Tossa de Mar, the “blue paradise” that so enchanted Marc Chagall, is a medieval town full of opportunities for visitors, who can enjoy a stroll through its alleyways or a swim in its coves. If this appeals, make it the perfect day by heading to this gastronomic restaurant. Here, at the foot of the town’s walls, siblings Lores, Josep María and Xavier conjure up contemporary dishes that pay homage to their grandparents: in their own words, “our family is one of artists and fishermen, and it is from this heritage that our cooking developed, using natural, artisanal and locally sourced ingredients”. In keeping with the traditions of Mediterranean cuisine and the local fishing industry, fish and seafood are understandably their strong suit, sourced daily from the fish auction. However, they also offer dishes featuring rice and select cuts of meats that are more synonymous with the mountainous landscapes of inland Costa Brava." - Michelin Inspector

The food was a generally a disappointment for the price you pay although some dishes stood out as stellar (eg beef ribs that were prepared to perfection and very fancy). The place seems a bit stuck in time and has not really followed Spanish cuisine and style into the 21st century, but it is clear that they are trying. Service was OK and as a happy surprise all drinks (beer, wines, etc) were included in the tasting menu price.

I accidentally stumbled upon this gem without knowing anything about it. I was wandering through the quiet lanes of Tossa de Mar on a weekday afternoon when I noticed this beautiful spot. Although I wasn’t hungry, I just wanted to sit down and enjoy a nice cup of coffee with some local dessert while taking in the view of the fort. One of the owners (I didn’t know this until later that evening) greeted me warmly and served me himself. I had their cheese with honey and a black coffee, and I absolutely loved sitting outside, savoring my dessert. I only wish I had known beforehand that this is a Michelin-starred restaurant and that I was meeting one of the finest chefs. I would definitely stop by again if I visit Tossa de Mar in the future to try more of their renowned dishes.

We stumbled across this gem while exploring the town. Such an exceptional experience delivered by a professional & knowledgeable team. Shout out to Anna for sharing some history about the area y region, for guiding us through each beautiful dish, and for truly making our visit a special one. Each plate was as delicious as the last. Muchas gracias from Australia.

The food is incredible. They definitely deserved their Michelin star. Well worth it if your visiting Tossa de Mar. It is easily the best restaurant around the touristy waterfront area, and offers a more relaxed but upscale atmosphere then the busy outdoor cafes. It's not as cheap as some other restaurants, but still not as expensive as what you'd find in a big city.

Wonderful and luxury food experience. I especially loved Gazpacho with prawns. You will enjoy hint of seafood unexpectedly in different dishes, which I loved a lot. For main dish, I got steak instead of Tartar. The souce of the steak had quite distinct taste, which I was not a big fan, but my partner enjoyed it a lot. I tried Tartar as well and I think it harmonized much better with whole selection. I liked three different soft drink ice cream, which was very fun :) Overall, very pleasant experience

Not recommended for Asian customers. The service was quite underwhelming — both the heavyset waiter and the young female waitress had rather poor attitudes. The young woman in particular ignored my English and kept responding in Spanish, which felt intentionally dismissive. At one point, they even insisted on asking where I was from — a question I found unnecessary and uncomfortable. They also have someone standing outside just to draw in customers, which felt a bit odd. We were given a rather poor table, while other walk-in guests were seated at tables marked as “reserved.” Food service was not especially fast either. The portion sizes are huge — honestly, one main dish is more than enough for two people.

The dining experience at Can Simon is nearly beyond words! It is a flavor journey from the region, beginning with the sea. Every dish is precisely created to build off of the flavor of the previous. Two things are a must for here, do the tasting menu and the wine pairing. Each of the wines are thoughtfully paired with the dishes to bring out the flavor in each. It would be a tragedy to not experience the wine selection with that journey of a meal. We also had the pleasure of interacting with Josep throughout the meal. His passion about food and wine transcends any language barrier. Its clear why people speak so highly of Can Simon, every compliment and award is earned with he and his brothers dedication. It truly was the best and most memorable meal of my life! Gracias Josep!

Google
Michelin star restaurant in Tossa de Mar, absolutely fantastic local ingredients and cuisine. We had the full gastronomy menu and had a wonderful evening even if at the end we were quite full! Dishes of fish and seafood were all sumptuous and abondant (expected in a coastal village) although the entrecôte was slightly too cooked to our liking. There is a quite extensive wine card with very reasonable prices. We'll worth the visit!

Yelp
My wife and I are food snobs. In 30 years of dining this was the second best either of us have ever eaten. The best was 25 years ago and cost twice as much back then. The chef here is innovative, the service impeccable, the atmosphere romantic and the value second to none. Highly recommended. We will be dining there tomorrow night as well.
