Crepes A Go Go Expanding to North Beach - Eater SF

"A new cafe has taken over the former Caffe Trinity space at 1145 Market Street in Mid-Market. La Cuisine Cafe kept the decor but changed the menu, serving French pastries and avocado toast with Verve coffee in the mornings and nicoise salad and simple sandwiches for lunch." - Janelle Bitker

Small cozy but amazing interior with great food and service! Posh bagel and coffee ☕ were delivered to table and milk was heated separately! This was wonderful being a small space. Worth dropping by for a sandwich and coffee 😁.

Google
It’s a nice little get-away from the busy city outside. Small but cozy french cafe with beautiful interior decors. Absolutely loved the California Brioche Toast - they ran out of brioche and used croissant instead - it was amazing. The owner is super friendly. The hot chocolate and latte was good too!

Google
Friendly service and a good cup of java in a cozy place. The espresso beans that they use are unique and worth the very reasonable cost. I really enjoyed the cafe atmosphere and the Italian-style old school decor.

Very lovely French-esque cafe with great breakfast items, pastries and delicious coffee. Owner is a kind hearted, lively person who’s very welcoming.

Stumbled in this place a week ago and so glad I did! Great vibes! Super wide selection of menu choices! Fresh ingredients! Perfect location and superb service! Back again this week!

Great vibes for brunch and coffee! The avocado toast was yum 🤤

Google
This place is so delicious and beautiful. It’s a one employee does it all type of place but the barista is so nice and he gave excellent recommendations. We had a hot latte and an iced latte both were perfect. We had a mixed berry danish an almond danish and the egg frittata sandwhich! Yum yum yum!!! Everything was DELICIOUS!!!!

Google
They serve Verve coffee! Super cute place on Market Street, I had a late latte here but want to come back for lunch. They were almost out of bakery and pastry items which is always a good sign. High ceiling and nice setup made it very inviting. Definitely a transition from the chaos outside.

Yelp
This is our 3rd visit , before our shows at The Orpheum theatre. A Great Find !! Great Sandwiches Best Bargain are the Display Sandwiches We also get Lox on Bagel turkey sandwich Avocado toast Everything is prepared FRESH. Convenient location- right out of BART station Service is OFF/ On.... Depending upon who is at the register. Rude service is made up by their amazing sandwiches and convenience. Just ignore the rudeness of older guy.

Yelp
Excellent French-ish Paris cafe in the center of town near Civic Center. Delicious breakfast sandwiches and coffee freshly made. French music in the background and authentic atmosphere - though our server could be a little friendlier but I guess that's French too lol. Recommended!

Yelp
I was walking by with a friend and we were looking for a place to eat breakfast. Never did we think a small cafe would be the place we absolutely adored! The interior is very small, and can probably only hold 6-7 people comfortably, but the food and staff were phenomenal. The staff was so friendly and bubbly, which was so nice to see. I got a brioche breakfast sandwich and it was absolutely loaded with all the good stuff! It was probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had, and had everything I would want in a breakfast sandwich! I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area!!

Yelp
A very cute spot for breakfast and sandwiches. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and it was good. Surprisingly, I finished both of them. Usually, I could only finish one slice. I wish the bread wasn't too crunchy. I like it toasted but not overly toasted so I can bite into it. Other than that it is amazing. I got the light iced chai latte and it was amazing. I enjoyed drinking it. The food is amazing. Now, let's talk about the place! It is cute. But it is very cramped. It is a good place to eat quickly and go or grab and go. It is not a place to stay for a while. Also, it is in a sketchy place so be careful. The bathroom is in the back and I felt kind of scared. I had my friend come with me and wait outside the door. It has one bathroom. Either way, this place is good and you should come here to eat some delicious sandwiches

Yelp
This place is cozy and really quaint! The service is great - the employee I spoke with on my visit was really friendly. I propped open my laptop to get some work done, and never felt rushed or distracted by anyone in the cafe. It's been a little while since my last visit but I can't wait to go back and enjoy more quiet time at La Cuisine!

Yelp
My old boss and I were looking to reminisce over a cup of coffee and came across this place. It had live music outside and seamed cute. It was small a cosy, so fit the bill. It was a bit too cosy for me, I couldn't get around the customer in front to go look at the sandwiches. Also, I didn't see a coffee menu although it was a cafe. Anyway, I just said Mocha, and my friend got an espresso, so that seamed to work. We also ordered a couple sandwiches. Now, this is where I am a bit annoyed, the sandwiches did not say they had onion in the ingredients, and none of the ones in the window had onions, which I am allergic to. But, when it came it has lots of onion on it. I picked it off, but it still tasted like it had a little bit of onion and now my hands smell like onion which makes me sick. I may be a but over sensitive about this, but a sandwich should list its ingredients... My boss said his food was delicious but he didn't touch the expresso. My coffee was ok, and I do have to admit I liked my sandwich, even though it hurt my stomach a bit after So....can't decide if 3 or 4 stars here... I should have known better and should have made sure my food didn't have onions...but I also would just like to be able to just order food easily and know I can eat it. All in all, my stomach is a bit off due to my allergy...but I would definitely come again because the food and price was good...

Yelp
A little bit of Paris in the TL? Who knew? I've worked near La Cuisine Cafe for nearly nine years but made my first visit only this year. What was I waiting for??? I stopped by one morning on the way to the office and ordered a salmon toast to go. There had been a bit of a mishap earlier, as I had tried to place a pickup order on DoorDash, but because I did it on BART, I wasn't sure if my order had gone through. Sure enough, when I got to the cafe to inquire about my order, it hadn't gone through - not because of the spotty reception in the Bay BART tunnel, but because apparently La Cuisine is not currently working with any of the food delivery apps! The gentleman at the cafe told me they had partnered with the services during COVID but were now no longer using the services, so if you want a pickup order, go in person or call them directly! He apologized for the inconvenience, which was really no fault of his, and I placed my salmon toast order then and there. It took a few minutes, but I was able to take in the quaint European style decor and music, which gave me the vibe of a cross between Versailles and the little sidewalk cafes in Paris. At about 7:45 a.m. there weren't many people there, so I think I got in before the morning rush. My order was ready, and the kind gentleman (the owner?) apologized again and handed me my food. I thanked him and rushed to my desk to dig in. The beautiful salmon toast was a decent size and came loaded with toppings. It was basically everything you'd find on a lox bagel but also with scrambled egg and on wheat bread instead of a bagel. All the flavors worked well together, from the crisp toast to the warm and soft egg, to the salty lox, tangy capers, and crunchy cucumbers and onions. It was delicious and filling. I go into the office only once a week now, which is probably a good thing because I think I could eat one of these every day. Going into the office tomorrow ... can't wait to try something else, or maybe just another salmon toast.

Yelp
A little bit of Europe in San Francisco! Coffee, wine, sandwiches, salads and breakfast. Lovely staff and fabulous French music playing. This is one of my daughter's favorite sandwich places. Delicious and a new favorite for me. And they have GF bread which was amazing! And for the record, the best caprese sandwich EVER! They added avocado and arugula which has a light and delicious vinaigrette on it. Amazing!

Yelp
Came to SF to see company at the Orpheum theater... needed a quick lunch and found this place on yelp... excellent food! Simple sandwiches, and shared a bottle of wine before the show. Would go back!

Yelp
Quick and friendly service (so polite and patient!), delicious coffee and sandwich, quiet and artsy on the inside. A little small so not good for a large group. Would highly recommend and will be returning!

Yelp
Food Fantastic! Service very good! Felt like we were eating in Paris!! The area is a bit seedy, but this place is worth it!

Yelp
La Cuisine Cafe is located right of UN Plaza in San Francisco. It's a small storefront reminiscent of Parisian cafes; tiny tables, outdoor seating (it was too cold for me on my last visit), baked goods, and coffee always brewing. This is a great morning place if you're in the area for meetings or sightseeing. The owner is friendly and welcoming, as was all the staff I interacted with. They offer a full menu from the simple like pastries or bagels, or the decadent like open faced sandwiches and eggs presented like art. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and the area. They will either serve to eat in or take it to-go, which is helpful in an area where much has closed in the last few years. They have a full selection of bottled and canned drinks including alcohol for later in the day. The coffee is wonderful, strong and hot. I would recommend this place if you find yourself nearby, I was thankful to eat here a few mornings on my last trip.

Yelp
This place keeps plugging along and I'm thrilled to support them whenever possible. Great little cafe scene with friendly staff and tasty offerings. Don't pass it by.

Yelp
I've never been to Paris, but this place embodies the essence that I constantly read about. The cafe is small but the ceilings are high and they are very efficient with their spacing. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. I saw a man lounging in the corner for hours with just a cup of coffee. At the end of the day, the space is filled with delicious aromas as the staff prepares for the next day. There are small marble tables to dine or work on. I enjoyed the tuna melt which I'd give a 7.5/10. There was a hint of olive, which I personally hate which is why the score isn't higher, but overall the sandwich was very good. I loved that the staff was cleaning and maintained the space during the lull. I highly recommend this place if you want a French Fix, to catch up with a friend, or need a place to work.

Yelp
This sandwich was SO good!! Ordered English breakfast sandwich with turkey. It comes on nice bread with turkey, Swiss, egg, avocado, tomato and arugula. It tasted so fresh with some crunch and pepper from the greens. Coffee was also good and super friendly service. I would be a regular if I were local. The inside is tiny, but very cute. Clearly. The cops are all regulars. The yogurt parfaits looked amazing; I would try that next time Only complaint is there are so many homeless around that you feel a little uneasy on the walk and it smells like pee until you replace that with the great restaurant/bakery smells.

Yelp
Amazing quaint, historic space with fresh sandwiches and salads! A welcoming environment to boot!

Maria S.

Yelp
Imagine this served with two scrambled eggs on top for a hearty and healthy breakfast, never compromising on taste. Rated 5/5 for fast, flexible service, complemented by a cozy location and delicious food.

Yelp
This cute cafe is very close to my house and I go here almost twice a week. This place reminds me of Paris, I love their beautifully designed interiors and the ambience. The service is so warm and friendly. We always end up having a conversation with the owner on some topic or the other. Absolutely love the iced mocha here which I usually order. The blueberry muffin is heavenly and better than most of the muffins I have had. I have tried the New York style bagel here a number of times and it's delicious. I would highly recommend this gem to other people!

Pauline L.

Yelp
The place to go for lunch before an Orpheum matinee performance! Delicious and reasonably priced. It is quite the gem!
google avatar

Yelp
Omg great service and soooo yummy. Also, the place is beautiful!!!! I ordered the California brioche toast, a vanilla chai latte with almond milk, and my boyfriend ordered the avocado egg toast and everything was delicious.

Yelp
1. Incredibly friendly and amazing customer service. 2. The English Breakfast Sandwich hits the spot! 3. The cafe has beautiful interiors! Verdict: I'm coming back!
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
I'm fond of this glamorous and arty little cafe in the heart of mid-Market, defying all the Downtown San Francisco trash hype. Efficient and friendly staff serve up hearty sandwiches and salads plus expert barista service and a very decent wine list. Tiny marble tabletops, great music, painted ceilings, and chandeliers complete the charm.

Yelp
Excellent local spot with quality food. Organic ingredients. They Serve up local Santa Cruz based Verve coffee, if you love coffee it's a must try - not as acidic tasting as other coffee that is offered at other shops. Came here for a quick bite to eat for breakfast. Ordered a breakfast sandwich, yogurt& fruit parfait, & coffee. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering other places in the city. I asked the gentlemen working whose name was Khalid, why the prices are so much lower than other closely places having similar offerings are such higher prices. He said he services many local city workers that come in multiple times a day, for a piece of fruit, sandwich, or coffee-- he said it wouldn't be fair or practical to have such high prices. The breakfast sandwich was very hearty and generously portioned with meat egg and cheese. The bread was homemade and rustic in both texture and flavor. The yogurt parfait with homemade granola, fresh fruit and honey drizzle was generously portioned, fresh, and very good tasting. This is such a hidden gem, the ambiance is almost like traveling back in time, original artwork and furnishings make this a place total eye candy.

Yelp
⁣ Wow, found this hidden gem and it was Poppin . We got the California Turkey and Tuna Nicoise Melt. I had half of the Tuna Melt and a cup of green tea and was already full. They use sriracha aioli on their bread so you know it's lit . The owner is super friendly and have great interpersonal communication skills. He chatted up with 4-7 different customers like they were family. Good customer service and making guests feel like their at home is a big plus. The locals know what's up. I see policemen, city employees, Orpheum theater workers, and all types of people come through. Maybe you'll be next . Very please to have tried La Cuisine. Come support local business and try out this French/Moroccan cafe. 10/10 Black Tiger will come again. @lacuisinecafesf @The_happyepicurean @BlackTigerEats

Yelp
Great little cafe with a beautiful design and great little tables. Super friendly staff, delicious coffee and plenty of great breakfast or lunch options. We enjoyed it so much we started our days off here all 3 days we were in San Francisco!
google avatar

Jessy M.

Yelp
There is plenty I like here but the ones I will highlight are the Tuna Melt, Lox Bagel, and Chai Latte. The staff is very friendly and a good reason I keep coming back. The inside is very beautiful as well. The tables are a bit small so you may have to squeeze inside if it's a little busy. I do not mention that as a complaint but more as to let you know what to expect.
google avatar

Cameron O.

Yelp
We stopped in here to grab a sandwich before a show at Orpheum. The line was long, and it was crowded... but the gentleman working was so nice and they were so efficient. Our sandwiches were hot which I wasn't expecting, but was happy about. SO delicious!!! I had the Athena- and it was amazing! The Kalamata olives, the spread.... Just awesome! I've been thinking about that sandwich ever since.

Yelp
A great spot in mid market. Parisian style cafe, decent selection of pastries and sandwiches, along with coffee and tea selections. There's bottled beers available as well In the cooler. Limited seating.
google avatar

Alicia J.

Yelp
This is my fav lunch spot. The ice tea is brewed daily and is incredible, the sandwiches and salads are amazing and they carry fresh juice and fruit! This is the Greek chicken and it is sooo good! The owner is so nice and funny!
google avatar

Yelp
Nats we're flying around pastries and cashier was very moody. Took a few deep breaths as I was ordering. I decided not to eat there and won't be back

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches! Great customer service as well, definitely a must try and I will be going when I go to San Francisco again!

Yelp
Since just starting my new job with the Orpheum theater I decided to check out local lunch places and right across the street I found La Cuisine. Being greeted right away is always a definite plus and good sign and I waited less than 10 minutes for my sandwich and triple shot mocha. The inside and outside decor is made to look rustic and just slightly antique with real marble and bronze overlay. Brightly lit on the inside and the sound of coffee's being made with extra foam completed the ambience inside this café. You can tell by talking to the owner that he loves his job and he has lots of repeat clientele because of his demeanor and great big smile. I can tell I'll be coming back to this place at least a few times a week not just for a piping hot coffee but the sandwich that I ordered was one of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever put in my mouth. Fresh crunchy toasted ciabatta bread with melted sharp cheddar cheese and chicken with crispy bacon and arugula sure hit the spot. Merci beaucoup por le parfait dejuner!
google avatar

Shaunte B.

Yelp
Best breakfast samiches ever n California! I've had every samich yes samich and they are delicious! The Moroccan Mint Tea is the best!
google avatar

Yelp
I rarely give 5 starts. But this little cafe is lovely. Delicious Almond Croissants I had also lox on everything bagel packed with flavor. Will come back for sure
google avatar

Regg L.

Yelp
Convenient place to grab a quick coffee and bakery on the go. They also have lunch options.
google avatar

Jon B.

Yelp
Came here for an early breakfast as nothing else is open in SF at that time. To me surprise , quote good considering the options . I ordered a egg sandwich with Turkey , avocado and cheese ( the bread was nice ) and a coffee . Everything was good and despite the random homeless people peeking inside , a good option as beggars can't be choosers

Athina S.

Yelp
I ordered a latte with oat milk & the coffee/milk tasted really off...I've gone to many different cafes around Civic Center but never had coffee that tasted so sour. I went back to ask for a refund immediately after because my drink tasted spoiled. The owner wouldn't agree to a refund at first and began making a new drink when I politely requested a refund. He then told me that it's my taste buds and that it's because I've never tried organic oat milk....I requested a refund once again and he finally issued me one and began to say how he's never had a complaint about their coffee in 12 years? I wish this interaction could've gone smoother and that the owner wasn't so defensive because he made me a bad coffee.

Cesar G.

Yelp
Best place for breakfast in this part of town. Every GDC this is the place I come to whence I get the chance
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by for breakfast on new years day and loved our time here. It's a small cafe with limited seating inside and out, but we managed to grab seats outside. There's a great menu with coffee, pastries and the best sandwiches/bagels. The owner is super passionate about running the cafe, and it shows with him taking orders, personally serving the food and cleaning up after. He was super friendly and warm, and it's clear that the locals come back time and time again because of how great he treats his customers and for the amazing food on the go. I would highly recommend ordering food on the go if possible -- it makes it easier and the wait faster!
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
I stumbled on this cafe on my visit to San Francisco and I've been going there everyday since! The architecture alone is outstanding with large bay windows, wood and marble interiors, and beautiful mirrors and old chandeliers. The lattes are so smooth and the best I've had! The menu is so diversified and has great items. The Lox is to die for! The staff is amazing and very attentive. Great for a quick bite but also for a morning weekend coffee conversation.
google avatar

Tasnim K.

Yelp
this is a very cute and small parisian cafe on market near civic center. there's very limited indoor and outdoor seating available, but it's a perfect place to grab and go some coffee and food. they have a wide selection of pastries and breakfast items, as well as drinks. i've ordered the new york style bagel, and it's very well made, and tastes amazing. the bagel is well toasted and the veggies are seasoned to perfection, and they are the perfect bite to eat for a nice quick breakfast. as for the drinks, i've only had the matcha latte before, and unfortunately it wasn't that great, but i look forward to seeing if the other drinks they serve are good! i'll update my review based off of that. with that being said, definitely check this place out whenever you're near civic center!

Priscilla L.

Yelp
Found this nicely tucked away little gem. I ordered the egg avocado toast. The egg yolk was nicely cooked and paired great with the arugula and avocado. Overall good relaxing experience.
google avatar

Misha T.

Yelp
I've had the turkey and tuna sandwiches and both were really quite good. Just good combos and good bread. But this place can get pretty backed up (it's pretty small) so the trick is to get your lunch here at 11:45 instead of 12-1pm because you can pretty much skip the line at that time.

Bret M.

Yelp
Stop here with a severe hangover and had an incredible sandwich (chicken club?) that gave me life. The man behind the counter was kind and location was prime.

Hikari J.

Yelp
Cute little place. Good for breakfast or lunch. Ambiance is very nice. Service is great too.

shawn r.

Yelp
The Chai Latte is almost all Milk. If you just want a vague flavor of Chai in a cup of warm milk this is your place. You cannot sit when it is getting close to the lunch hour even if NO ONE is the cafe. Because they MIGHT get a lunch crowd in. It's a shame. It's a cute space. Just walk around the corner. There's a wonderful cafe with fresh pastry.
google avatar

Elliott D.

Yelp
This place is incredible. Food is amazing, the vibe is great, but THE STAFF truly make this place perfect. The gentleman from Morocco really made my day.
google avatar

Jemellee S.

Yelp
This cafe made me feel like I was in Paris. The ambiance and the music just completes the aura. First time here and I felt like I'm already friends with the staff, they're friendly and inviting. Unfortunately I didn't catch their names but the two gentlemen had great energy! You'll really feel like they enjoy their jobs. Me and a co-worker came for lunch. They offered full and half sandwiches. I got the "half and half." Half sandwich half salad. I ordered the turkey sandwich and it tasted like it had a special sauce, it was yummy! And got half of butternut squash with quinoa salad, so fresh and a delight. Last but not least I got an ice-latte to complete my meal. All for under $20. I thought the price was right for the amount of food I got. This was only a short walk from my work, I love San Francisco!!!
