Google
We found this place by google Maps in Quebec City because there is an affordable parking in front of it! (20 dollars for 24 hours! Haha). From the second we walked in, the experience was amazing. The girl who welcomed us was super friendly and honestly changed the whole vibe in the best way. She was so sweet and helpful, and the way she spoke to us made everything feel extra special. We weren’t very hungry, so she suggested we share the shepherd’s pie instead of getting two small plates and it was the perfect idea. It was really tasty and felt healthy as well. The service was just as good as the food, and she checked in with us with the same friendly energy all the way through. The inside of the restaurant was adorable. It had really cute decorations, even the bathroom had its own style, and they had a little game console in the middle too. Everything looked and felt fresh and homemade. We sat outside since it was a bit cold inside, but we loved the whole experience and would definitely go back.

Went here tonight with my dad and the vibes were amazing! The waitress was really sweet despite my numerous attempts at a very butchered (Quebecois) French. All the authentic Quebecois suggestions for the drinks, dishes and desserts were super tasty. Will be trying to recreate them back home :) All in all it was an amazing experience. Food was great, place had a great atmosphere to it and there were even some retro video game consoles to play with. Merci pour la nourriture incroyable!

Google
We got to Quebec late Saturday, so we just looked up La Cuisine on Google Maps. It had great reviews and was only 4m walk. It was chill, comfy, with good beer, food, and friendly Canadians. Interestingly, two ladies ran the whole busy place, from taking orders to cleaning and cooking. We got French onion soup, garbage roll, lasagna, hummus and IPAs beers. The food was delicious, with good portions and reasonable prices. It was a great experience!

Google
My absolute favorite place to eat lasagna. It's so damn delicious. The salad is excellent, too. I love the salad dressing. I love the warmth and atmosphere at this restaurant. This is my second time having dinner at La Cuisine. Very cozy with great food, also inexpensive in Saint Roch.

Google
I will begin by saying my wife and I visit Quebec City very often - and we have been to most restaurants many times:: La Cuisine is our favourite. La Cuisine is perfect. The food is delicious - pate chinois (Shepherd's Pie) - Cigar au Choux ( cabbage rolls) - and a range of tasty choices. The service is attentive, professional and heartfelt. Atmosphere - if you are local or visiting Quebec and wish to feel a genuine embrace: 13/10 - (thirteen out of ten) really - At first you might think it is kitsch but really it is a beautifully curated warm hearted art gallery. I cannot recommend strongly enough.

Google
It’s local French cuisine, we ordered onion soups, pizza. Lasagna, pate pies , cabbage rolls all great taste and reasonable price

Google
Recently tried the French Onion Soup at la Cuisine, and it was absolutely delightful! The soup had a rich, flavorful broth with just the right balance of sweetness and savory notes. The melted cheese and crispy bread topping were perfectly done, making each bite indulgent. The presentation was on point, and the service was excellent, making the overall dining experience memorable. Highly recommend trying it if you’re a fan of French classics!

Google
Everything was 10/10. The French onion soup and Sheppard’s Pie were the best I’ve ever had. This is more of a late night eats spot where you can eat, have a few drinks, and listen to some live music. We came on a Friday night and the atmosphere + food were a great introduction to Quebec City. Merci beaucoup!!!

Yelp
The lasagna was excellent. The French onion soup is top notch. Fun, eclectic interior. Our waitress was very inviting. We had plenty of space at our table to relax and take our time.

Yelp
Wonderful eclectic setting Very fun bohemian vibe Waitstaff was great Food was just acceptable The hummus was not hummus- just puréed chickpeas without salt, oil, tahini or garlic The lasagna was flavorless - my husband described it as chef boyardee. I would have to agree In general the food was v bland

Yelp
Really cool authentic place with happy mixed music and a retro feel. Good late night food.

Yelp
Arrived in Quebec and needed a place to eat late night. This place has both food and drinks. They have daily specials - we came in when the special was a pitcher of beer for $14 or so. The people working here were very nice. The male server welcomed us in and was great at taking the extra time to give us his recommendations and explain in English. Sometimes in Quebec I feel like I'm shamed for not speaking French -this place did not do that. Ordered the blonde and red beer, boreale on tap. Had the French onion soup and lasagna. Food here is ok, you get exactly what you order and the prices are great. I think the main show here is the atmosphere. It's hip and trendy, with games set up and clothes lines with linen hanging as separators for tables. The vibe here is where it's at.

Yelp
Definitely yummy drinks! Had a delicious lemonade! The lady who served us was very nice but it sort of took a long time. The ambience was awesome but a little bit overwhelming. I would not say this is your go to place for sit down dinner with the family, a perfect place for quick drinks and appetizers though! Definitely a younger crowd feel to it!

Yelp
Quirky fun place very retro with a decent beer selection. Funky and fun. I had the cabbage rolls and she had the broccoli soup both were very tasty

Tie Z.

Yelp
They are all very delicious! We ordered pizza, cabbage roll, shepherd pie, and "bouilli".

Yelp
Amazing gem of a place! We all ordered french onion soup as an appetizer, which was hot and delicious. For mains, we had nicoise salad, cabbage roll and shephards pie - all were tasty. We all agreed the cabbage roll was the best amongst what we ordered. Service was excellent as our waiter explained the menu to us. The ambiance was quirky and fun. Reasonably priced. Will go back again this evening before we leave Quebec City. Strongly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Wonderful staff, very attentive Menu has several options, and special offers. Food is delicious, excellent quality and reasonable prices. Bonus is you can take your own wine Go early tends to get noisy

Yelp
Walked in and was ignored for 5 mins and just left. Lady at the bar was too busy talking to her friend to even know I was there or acknowledge me. Very poor servive. I will not be returning

Yelp
Ambience and service was amazing! The food was ok. Would recommend the French onion soup!

Yelp
Stumbled on looking for a place to eat. Appreciate the funky decor and casual ambiance. A mosh mash of plates carries an extremely tasty sampling. We recommend the Pate Chinois and Cigare au Chou. Lovely little find I wish I could enjoy locally.

Yelp
Walked in here because it was just across the street from the parking lot we parked in. It was exactly what we needed! All the food tasted like home. I loved their French onion soup--so much that I ordered another soup for my mom to try. Excellent service--everyone was super friendly and explained the menu to us. Their dessert was a bit off though. I forgot what it was called but it tasted as if it was one of those 5 minute microwave mug cakes. However, all the rest of the food was fresh! Would come back again.

Yelp
Wow. What a spectacular restaurant. The decorations are perfect. The food was delicious and gentleman who served us was incredibly helpful. He spoke both English and French. I loved the old school video games available at the tables. If you're in the area definitely check it out. This is a real taste of the Quebec flavor.

Anika R.

Yelp
I live the vibe and the ambiance. It hip. It's cool. It has a 50s vibe with old school decor and the servers were warm and friendly and I haven't even started on the food. I had the shepherds pie on a servers recommendation and it was so good I decided to come back for dinner but got the lasagna this time. Good selection of beer. Though I am not a beer connoisseur I enjoyed what I had Price is great whether you are on a budget or not.

Yelp
Meh. We were on vacation from the US and had just arrived to Quebec hungry and tired after a long drive. Staff was busy preparing for a comedian show due to start within an hour. However the woman who seemed to be in charge of running the kitchen (not cooking) could have been more attentive in letting us know where to sit, helping with the menu, and taking our payment. We felt more like we were in the way than welcomed in. I got the Brie and apple croque monsieur, my older son got the nachos, my husband got the pâté chinois -- all fine and good portions (we do not like typical American large portions, these meals were perfect for us). My younger son got the grilled cheese sandwich with sausage. Tasted fine but nothing amazing, not even as good as we make at home and it was so small we each had to share part of our meal with him and then find more food for him at another restaurant. I will say that I was amazed that one person who seemed to be doing the majority of the cooking in an extremely small kitchen (smaller than most homes) was able to get out so much food so quickly. The food was mostly good, but we've been to so many places in Canada with such friendly people that we would probably not return here.

Yelp
Didn't get any drinks or wasn't there for more than 10 minutes to grab a late night bite but it seemed as if the bartender was closing down. I wish I could have more to talk about but nothing was particularity memorable about the space. The space is very unique, a disco ball in the ceiling, eclectic knick knacks ect. The food was all right, we could only get the grilled cheese and another late night snack but it's what I expected.

Yelp
Very small menu more of a family home cooking place to eat. Old retro decor, board games and video games you can play for free! Drinks are limited. The food tasted great I just wish they have more options to eat.

Yelp
Quaint Little Café/Pub located near downtown Quebec City. They serve a few gourmet Quebec dishes which you can order off the chalkboard on the wall. The prices are pretty reasonable, ranging between $11-18 per dish. The food was pretty standard, nothing outstanding but nothing to complain about either. We ordered the Pate Chinois (Quebec's version of Sheppard's pie) and a Croque Monsieur with apple and brie. Served with a side of salads, both dishes were generous in portions. Overall, La Cuisine seems like a unpretentious place to grab a bite or beer with your friends (they also have a number of board games available).

Yelp
Cheap tasty food in friendly vintage surroundings This restaurant was recommended by our airbnb host nearby, and turned out to be so great we ate here twice on consecutive days. They are open all afternoon, for one thing, so lunch at 2:30 was no problem while other places are closed. They have pub food with a healthy twist, and many choices cheerfully prepared by a crew of hip bilingual folks working ceaselessly. A great place to hang out - they have board games. Nightlife until 2am, DJ and techno entertainment, for a different crowd than the lunch scene we saw.

Yelp
Was in Quebec for a few days and saw this place written up in the NYT article "36 Hours in Quebec City". This place is eclectic in the best way possible. It has no pretentious but manages to be hip all at once. The vintage decor is perfect and the open kitchen makes the space seem very homey. We went for dinner and had a ball. There was ONE GUY doing everything. With what seemed like great ease he was the waiter, the bartender, the cook and the buss boy. He did a great job, our food was delicious, our glasses were full of wine the entire time and my husband made the top score on Paperboy. Yes, that's right they have Nintendo at one of the tables. It was a pretty slow Tuesday night, so I imagine he gets more help on the weekends but I'd definitely recommend heading out to La Cuisine, it is an awesome experience.

Yelp
I liked this place a lot better than my partner did. I thought it was good cheap food, in an unpretentious and unhurried atmosphere that I wouldn't mind hanging out in. They served beer in flower pitchers, meals started at under $10, and you could add pea soup for only a couple bucks extra. The menu was written on a chalk board, and I'm not sure how often it changes. The one thing I could say about it is that I can imagine getting bored of the options if it doesn't change often. I had the pea soup and the baked ziti with sausage. My partner had the cabbage roles. Basically all of the food is stuff that can be prepared in a simple oven or a microwave. The entire operation is being run by two people who both take orders and serve the food. It wasn't crowded and we weren't rushed, but it wasn't slow exactly either, just relaxed in a nice way. I'd definitely come back here and it was a nice change of pace for me from the generally high priced food that we ate.

Yelp
That they can crest the dishes they do with a skeleton kitchen and staff is extraordinary. Affordable and fun. Super eclectic atmosphere, fun music, awesome staff. A great find!

Ingrid B.

Yelp
We had dinner there on recommendation from our Airbnb host upon our arrival to Quebec. We found the place incredibly charming and full of character. The dishes, glasses, furniture is a assortment of varies styles and shapes, adding an interesting flair to the ambiance. The menu consisted of 7 dishes all cooked that day. The kitchen which was part of the restaurant consisted of a regular stove, fridge and microwave and it was like watching mom cook. Our food was delicious and service excellent. Highly recommend for a down to earth dining experience.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. Atmosphere is very cool with vintage board and video games available for play. The cabbage roll with sweet potato purée was excellent, the Thai chicken salad was reasonable and I was told that the gazpacho was very tasty. The prices were very reasonable, $25 for lunch for two. The service left a little to be desired though, we were the only customers at the time and got the impression we were inconveniencing the only staff working.

Yelp
Vintage; retro; quaint; it doesn't matter what words you use; this place is super cool. There are board games available for the customers to use. A very select freshly prepared menu was displayed on a menu board. Awesome service by Sage. The only hiccup was that the prices were slightly higher than the posted prices on the menu board but we chalk it up to whatever. It was an awesome meal!

Nancy C.

Yelp
My husband found this funky little joint in our Lonely Planet guide book. After a long day of touring we were looking for a place that was open late to grab something casual and inexpensive (they had $3 grilled cheese!). There was just one barmaid running the place and she was super helpful. The onion soup was wonderful. My father-in-law said it was the "best French onion soup he's ever had." The date cake with maple sauce was to die for.

Yelp
What a great find! My wife and I are visiting Quebec City. For the past few days we have explored over a dozen restaurants and cafés - large, small, new, old, expensive, inexpensive. La Cuisine is a small setting, located two blocks off a main street. It is filled with charm and local customers. They offer a generous humus appetizer serving two. The Thai chicken salad features mild spices (not the blazing hot marinade we had in Bangkok). The wine list is appropriate. The servers and cook are pleasant and endlessly moving. They provide an enjoyable dinner at a low cost---one of the best values we have found in the city.

Yelp
Woww I love this place! Make yourself a favor and sit at the bar and watch this guy cooking for you. He is amazing! I would never thought that the best pitcher in the world is "arrosoir de jardin" . It's definitely a go to place!

Yelp
Meh, just ok for food and service when we came for a midday meal recently. I think maybe this is a fun spot to party at in Quebec (though there could be better local beers on tap, since we do have some great ones in this province) but the video games and kitchy decor are probably fun overall as an option for a night out. We were the only people in the resto and the two people behind the bar seemed to studiously ignore us for a good 25 minutes without taking an order, offering water, saying hi, or making eye contact and we experienced the same inexplicable pace and determined lack of smile when it came time to pay. The pot pie and croque monsieur with their side salads were both tasty and hearty and perfectly fine and at $10 fairly affordable in terms of Quebec. And finally I have to say - the pink and blue faux fur stools in the middle of the room are kinda nasty in the daylight. Pretty rough and they are the only off note in the otherwise fun looking and well curated room.

Ed F.

Yelp
Liked our food, at very reasonable prices. The menu is not extensive but something for everyone. The location is cool and the music eclectic.

Marianne M.

Yelp
We were happy to discover this fun place a few hours before the free Cirque du Soleil show nearby. Our group of 4 included two teenage girls who loved the board games available. Service was super friendly and patient with our attempts to mangle the French language. We ordered pizza, pate chinoise (like Shepherds pie), a feta and fruit salad, and an open face swiss cheese sandwich with carmelized onions. It was all really homemade tasty and great value. The carrot salad was particularly yummy. Total bill with tip (including 2 glasses of wine) was $70!! Definitely would go back, and maybe try the grilled cheese sandwiches that are only served after 10 pm!
