I’ve been coming to this establishment for over 38 years now and I’ve always been extremely satisfied. Authentic Italian pastries, always fresh and just delicious. I love the cannolis because they fill them right there while you’re waiting. My most favorite of their pastries is the Baba Rum Roll because it reminds me of the pastries I used to eat back in the old country. Highly recommended!

La Deliziosa was definitely delicious!!! There was so much to choose from, I wish I could've had everything but what I did get was amazing!! The lady behind the counter was very nice as well. The prices were a steal for the quality!!

Wow, what a delightful find! We were driving through from nyc and stopped for an afternoon bite to eat and came across this little bakery. We were overwhelmed on all they had to offer. So we just grabbed a few things but everything that we chose was absolutely scrumptious. The bakery itself is like a step back in time, classic. Although there’s no place to sit and enjoy your treats but still no big deal we walked down by the water and had some of our cookies. Can’t wait to try more things this summer.

For over 25 years we get friends and families birthday cakes and pastry from LaDeliziosa best cannolis, Italian cookies and pastry amazing cakes always delicious never a disappointment. Freshly made. Staff is great!

I went in 2 weeks ago and ordered a cup of italian ice and it was great but the lady I dealt with just was having a bad day maybe. I did not feel welcomed and she was a little rude to me until the very end. It was my first time there and although the Italian Ice was excellent, the experience/service itself won’t bring me back. If you’re looking for great Italian ice with bad customer service, this might be the right spot for you. I’ll be looking for Italian ice elsewhere, and it sucks because I would’ve definitely came back.

Absolutely the best bakery in the entire state of New York every time we come to town we go there and load up on and off cannoli filling and shells to last a year if I have nowhere else but here

Never disappointed. Best bakery in the area and beyond. I've had pastries from Brooklyn to Albany and they are one of the best! Best cannoli cream there is. Always fresh and delicious!

This place is in a small hidden part of Poughkeepsie. If you blink, you will pass it. We don't live close but I had an appointment nearby and took the opportunity to stop in. It has street parking as well which was not an issue. There is a small municipal lot around the corner. When you step inside, it screams Italy. The cookies, coffee, pastries, gelato are beautifully shown in the cases. There were sugar free and gluten free options as well. Well worth the trip!

Small old fashioned Italian bakery. Seemed like it was family owned. They have plenty of pastry options along with Italian ice. Prices were reasonable.

An absolutely amazing bakery tucked away on an unassuming side street in Poughkeepsie. Step in off the sidewalk and be immediately swept up in a swirl of delicious and enveloping smells of fresh pastries and baked treats. An amazing array of delectable pastries, cookies and cakes await you at this establishment making it well worth the trip. We ordered cakes and finger goodies for a friend's birthday at a nearby ranch - the bakery immediately recognized the reference and created a masterpiece *almost* too pretty to eat. Definitely worth frequenting!

I had their Black Forest cake for my baby shower and it was beautiful and delicious! I don't normally like Black Forest cake, but the flavors here were so well done and blended together for an elegant and tasty cake!

Fantastic bakery- I haven't had a great chocolate Florentine cookie in over 27 years. I visited Poughkeepsie so long ago I prayed I could find them again. La Deliziosa did not disappoint. So fresh and high quality ingredients. I ate there AND got a box of pastries to go. The service was excellent- my helper explained everything and helped me operate the Nespresso machine.The shop has a huge selection of pastries including ready to go decorated cakes. Fresh coffee made to order. Love Love Love

I like the ambience which feels like an old-school bakery from my old Bronx neighborhood. Smells great when you walk in and if you stick with the store made suites, you'll be very satisfied. I personally avoid the "butter cookies "that are really not full butter and they are manufactured somewhere else and shipped- those are the ones that are in many Italian delis. Just ask the staff what is made on premise from scratch and go with that A good are the pignoli cookies which are our favorite of my brother-in-law. Chewy and tender, and a real decadent treat with a cup of strong tea, or in most peoples case espresso. I don't go out of my way for this kind of bakery, but definitely worth popping in if you are a fan of Italian delicacies.

Pastries are delicious. Store is clean and people are friendly. Definitely going back.

My SIL was visiting and hankering for a napoleon. We brought her here since we order our cakes from here often. Very delicious and beautiful. The pastries are flaky and delicious but you have to know that the napoleons here are not filled with custard but a whipped cream type filling. I prefer the custard; that is the traditional and what I grew up with and love. If you want that, go to the Pastry Garden. The lobster claw and the chocolate pastry were great! I took a star off for not using custard but otherwise great.

I had ordered a Tiffany & Co. themed birthday cake for my Mother back in January and wanted to say that they did a wonderful job. It was a funfetti cake with buttercream icing. The cake was moist and had great taste. Also would like to mention that the staff were all very friendly, professional, and accommodating through out the whole process.

This is an old world bakery with 1990 prices. The Napolean was the best I have ever had. It was extra sweet, gigantic, and $4; yes, $4. I loved the tin ceiling too.

A great variety of pastries here. The marzipan and pastichote had wonderful flavor and were affordable as well. The marzipan was slightly dry but the pastichote had a lovely filling that left me very happy with my purchase. It's hard to find such high quality bakeries in poughkeepsie for the price, i'd really recommend coming here. Everything feels very authentic and made with love.

After many years we stopped by La Deliziosa last week when we took a drive up from NYC. We used to go to Caffe Aurora around the corner, now closed for several years. I have to say that the pastries and biscotti we ordered were absolutely DELICIOUS. Just wonderful. My only wish would have been to have a little sitting area to enjoy them on the spot. But we took them home and they were gone within a few days. The pastries - amazing. The brownie with peanut butter mousse was to die for. The lobster tail was beyond flaky and the cannoli was excellent. The various biscotti flavors were great, especially the coconut and lemon. Poughkeepsie, my home town, is lucky to have such a great bakery, equal to anything in NYC including Veniero's, my local shop.

La Deliziosa is an Italian pastry bakery that opened in Poughkeepsie, New York in summer 1974. It was founded by Italian immigrant Michele "Mike" Buonaiuto. As a young boy in Moschiano, Italy, he was trained by his parents in the art of Italian culinary baking. After serving in the Italian Army, Buonaiuto went on to become a professional pastry chef and opened his own café. After marrying his wife Maria, Buonaiuto later relocated to the United States and settled in Poughkeepsie. He worked as a pastry chef at Caffe Aurora and dreamed of one day owning his own pastry shop. After working very hard for many years, he opened his own shop in the summer of 1974. For several years, Buonaiuto worked alongside his wife Maria and their children. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 87. Since 1984, La Deliziosa has been owned by Frank Cordaro. He started working there in 1975 as a dishwasher when he was just 14. Around the holidays, long lines often snake out the bakery's door with customers waiting for their popular cannoli, sfogliatelle, rum baba and biscotti. My family and I recently visited La Deliziosa while we were visiting the Poughkeepsie area. After having lunch in New Paltz and then going for a long walk on the nearby Walkway Over The Hudson, we decided to head to Poughkeepsie's "Little Italy" for some Italian pastries. We had heard about La Deliziosa from the 2018 short film "Cannoli, Traditions Around the Table" which was directed by Frank Cordero's children Andrea and Francesco. The place smelled so good when we walked in and the staff were so friendly and helpful. There were so many pastries, cookies, cakes, and Italian Ice available for purchase. My wife and I couldn't think of getting anything other than cannoli so we ordered two to share (one chocolate covered and one white chocolate covered). They filled the shells right in front of us, which is a great sign. Our son ordered a slice of 7-layer Rainbow Cake. We enjoyed our pastries at a table right outside. Everything was excellent! I have long thought that the best cannoli around were in New York City, but after trying the cannoli at La Deliziosa I realized that you can find ones just as good in Poughkeepsie.

Awesome bakery in Poughkeepsie! Huge selection of cookies and pastries. In the summer they have Italian ice which is awesome too!

Everything was so fresh, presented well organized in displays, and tasted incredible. Staff was friendly even toward closing time. Not pictured but I tried the pumpkin gelato which of course was also perfect. Everything exceeded our expectations!!

I tried here a few times many times years ago, but since I was in the area again, I wanted to really try more here. counter people were pretty patient with me since a lot of great choices here and took me a bit to decide. all the pastries I got were amazing, can't say nothing I had was bad, all great. I will have tried more when am in the area again, since I did see a lot of pastries I never seen in other bakeries, which is a mark of great place not being a cookie cutter of others. The decor of place is very beautiful as well, it was very inviting when entering.

Childhood Hold Over I've even introduced my nieces and nephews to this spot. Always happy to grab some miniature pastries and or full size. Inside holds a devotion to the founders and is a staple in the neighbourhood. Charming and quaint The folks working the counter are quick to help

Old school, tried and true Italian bakery that never disappoints. Cakes, cookies, pastries, biscotti...they have it all. A great place to get a gift or treat yourself! My favorite is cannoli chips and dip....addictive and so good!

Finally stopped here on a whim and tried the raspberry cigar, pumpkin cheesecake, elephant ear, and the cannoli roll. $14 for everything and everything was so delicious. Do not skip the pumpkin cheesecake or the cannoli roll. Will definitely be coming back can't say enough good things about this place

Tiramisu was good. The other cakes were too sweet for me but kids and wife liked them.

This is the best bakery in the area. The cakes are always fresh and delicious! The prices are also very readily available! We always get our birthday cakes here. I won't go anywhere else.

Hands down the best bakery in Dutchess County! We attend many parties & out of all the cake's people bring, a lot come and ask where we bought ours? I've been a customer since the 80's and Frank and his team never disappoints.

Love this Italian bakery right in my neighborhood! We especially love the cannoli dip and chips, mini tiramisu, Italian rainbow cookies and the cold Italian ice. The pastry case is always stacked and you can find Italian staples as well as other more mainstream bakery stuff (cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies extc) Super affordable and we always walk over for a sweet treat. Prices are reasonable- especially the Italian ice. I will say the ladies working the counter are not very friendly and pretty much always seem annoyed, but otherwise nothing is wrong with this little Poughkeepsie gem!

If you want Italian pastries- you come here. When we are back in this area and need a cannoli fix, we come here. Visiting a friend and want to show them some love- come here. Every pastry we've ever had from this bakery is a 10- and trust me, over the last 40 years I think we've tried them all. Personally I prefer the small cannoli because of the creme to shell ratio. I love that they still fill them when you order and tie the box with the traditional string. What's not to love?

Authentic Italian pastry shop that has been around for over 40 years! Service is friendly and prompt! We order the traditional rum cake (our family tradition) and we are never disappointed! Brings back great childhood memories! Always pleasant on the phone taking our order and able accommodate last minute requests!

So many delicious options!! I was torn between all the beautiful cakes and pies and cookies. The coconut macaroons were perfect.

No you are not on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx but close!!!! This charming pastry shoppe is located in the Little Italy district not too far from the Walkway on the Hudson. It's nestled near the historic Mt Carmel Church: it did remind me of Prague. You walk in and are greeted by the friendly staff. The display case is filled with Italian delights: cream puffs, Italian cookies , mousse cakes, eclairs etc. We decided to try the French Cannolis( yummy concoction of chocolate, custard, cannoli drizzled with chocolate and whipped cream). My friend tried the toffee nut flavored coffee and the peanut butter mousse cake. Upon paying I stumbled upon the chocolate rugelach and tried one ( heavenly goodness). I must say Upstate NY makes a fine rugelach( I also bought them in Cold Spring NY) There is outdoor tables and chairs. Perfectly wonderful bakery to get lost in the rain

If you are an Italian/Italian-American, this place will feel like your home away from home. They have every sort of staple you would need - Jordan almonds, cannoli, Sfogliatella, etc. Of course, most local grocery stores sell similar types of cookies that they have here but La Deliziosa has more of a variety and they're more fresh. Well worth it. The area itself is sort of a throwback. It's like time forgot it for awhile then once the new walking bridge was enacted, the area started modernizing a bit but still kept its charm. I don't live around here anymore but any time I'm in the area, I make sure to stop by and buy $20's worth of desserts to put into my luggage. Obviously, it doesn't keep very well but it's still pretty damn good.

They are amazing! ALL goods were yummy! I bought two custom cakes. One cannoli and marble (strawberry/vanilla pudding) so worth the calories! Staff was also amazing. Rainbow cookies I highly recommend. Their Icey are definitely a must have in this heat, Mango(has actual little pieces of mango!

5 star italian pastry shop in the middle of little italy in Poughkeepsie. Not much else going on around here, but if you love sweets, this is the place to be. The cookies and the cannoli's were so delicious!

After a local bakery informed me on the morning of my baby's first birthday party that they didn't make my order, we called La Delizaiosa in a panic and they came through. We had a party of 40 people coming in 3 hours. Not only we're they SO nice and professional, but they hustled and had the most delicious cake ready in about an hour and a half. They stayed in touch updating us on when it was ready for pick-up and really saved me from a breakdown that day. I am so grateful to you!!

Someone from a different state ordered a cake for my husbands birthday and we picked it up and it was the best cake I had. Yesterday I ordered myself a cake ( I'm sick and I need it, don't judge me ) and my friend went to pick it up and left it on my porch. I asked for a white cake with coconut whipped cream and she asked if I wanted a message on it, so I didn't wanna sound fat so I pretended is for someone else and I said "get well soon" and then she asked if I wanted any design on it, I said no, don't worry about it. Color? I said whatever you have open... I asked for coconut flakes if they have it. Everyone was polite and today my cake arrived and you guys, they put flowers on it... in all different colors and coconut flakes. My heart! So nice of them! The cake is the best I had, different than the dry ones I get from other bakeries. I highly recommend it! Also... it was like... $7 lol what? What in the lands sake ?!?

Friendly staff, amazing prices and authentic quality- an old time feel that makes you want to return. Orders are always done on time and are exactly what we want. You can taste the quality, and see the art of baking in all of their products. They have a wide array of pastries, beautiful full cases to choose from. Classic Italian cookies and many cake options. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

What a pleasure to work with this talented creative baker! He did my daughter's baby shower cake and it was spectacular in design and taste. I gave him a photo and he did an amazing job! Went to this bakery after all of the positive Yelp reviews. We ordered a pound of assorted cookies, a black and white cookie, and another pastry. The place smelled really good and everything looked really good. I want to try a bunch of the stuff here and settled on cookies and a pastry that other customers seemed to be buying so we went with the flow. The black and white cookie was too dry. The frosting was good but the cookie itself was way too dry. The assorted cookies were good. A few stood out as better than others but they were all generally good, nothing great. The pastry was good, nothing I am running back for. There's plenty of street parking and the women working there were all very helpful and friendly. This place seems to get the best reviews for bakeries in the area. Im still searching, for me this isn't tops

Really disappointed! Pastries seem old and stale. The custard was soured in the mini pastries. We shopped on a Friday so maybe the fresh stuff comes out on Saturday.

Cannoli chips. I should just end the review there. La Deliziosa had the brilliant idea not just to make cannoli, but to make bite-sized pieces of cannoli shells which you can then dip in cannoli cream. It definitely avoids the sogginess problem which plagues good cannoli (studies show that 6/10 cannoli suffering from sogginess) while also turning up the dial on the fat ass meter. I gave a bag of these chips to my brother, and half of the huge bag was gone within 5-10 minutes. I think my Mom forgot she was diabetic and ate the other half. My family goes hard with this shit. I was there on a Saturday, and I was surprised that the place was deserted; a nice young Italian girl helped me. In addition to the chips, I opted for a sfogliatelle as well. Theirs was up there in terms of the quality of the ricotta filling, which was on the sweeter side and redolent of orange. The shell was good but not as crisp and buttery as I'd like; they had made it in the morning and I grabbed it later in the afternoon. Still I'm thinking about those chips (including the giant one on their counter that you aren't supposed to eat). Maybe I'll finally give in to my family's demands to come back here for more chips. CHIPS!!!

My uncle LOVES the apple turnovers ONLY from here so I'm about to call and reserve a few. They are so kind about putting them aside. Sfogliatelle is my very favorite and I could eat 12 of them..(the big ones!) Before the holidays, I buy a large container of canolli filling and canolli shell chips and bring them over for Christmas eve. EVERYONE waits for them. I could write so much more, but suffice it to say, La D. is just the very BEST!!!

Aweome job for our work birthday celebration. Coworker also bought her wedding cake there. It was a big hit. Fresh tasty cakes, pastries and cookies big hit. Highly recommend. You'll be back for more.

Excellent selection of authentic Italian cookies and pastries. Some favorites are pignoli cookies, amaretti, biscotti, taralli, and cannoli They even sell cannoli chips with the cream for dipping! They also make the BEST sfogliatelle on the weekends. Get there early to get one right out of the oven! Truly, the best in the area!

You can smell the sweets from outside. Once inside we had a sample of the pumpkin crumb cake, it was delicious! We ordered a the raspberry and chocolate cigars. They were very good. We were commenting on the lack of help from the staff. And all of sudden the owner comes out from the back and was very friendly.

We got my son's 1st birthday party cake from here and were very happy with the cake and service. The cake/butter cream frosting isn't too sweet (which is what I prefer). The baker did a good job of hand drawing designs onto the cake. The only thing we wish was different was the lettering on the cake...seemed a little bit messy and we would have preferred "cleaner" lettering. But the cake tasted delicious either way!

Everything from this bakery is delicious. Excellent quality, excellent assortment . If you want a desert that you'll savor every bite this is the place. Only problem is the parking is a disaster.
