I just had Sunday breakfast at “La Desayunéria” in their Calle Ayala 46 location. As you walk in you notice it’s a unique kind of restaurant that resembles a highway diner type of thing. Lots of colors, lights hanging from the ceilings, loud in every sense of the word. I brought my dog as they are allowed here, which I love! The waitresses were extremely polite and accommodating, which I also loved. Their menu is indeed extensive and I finally selected one with two pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese grits. I also ordered a large cappuccino which was served in a regular size coffee cup, nothing large about it. The coffee was very good, but the food was just ok. I wasn’t impressed. It looked like just so plain, nothing particularly special about it, just ordinary. I feel like the ingredients they use are not the best quality or something. Coming from the USA one is used to so much variety as far as breakfast is concerned, and this place has a certain something I can’t quite put my finger on it that comes across to me as not good enough. Besides the fact that, maybe because it was a Sunday morning and it was packed, but the loudness of people’s voices, babies crying, and a closed room with no windows just felt a bit claustrophobic. My bill was €14 so not outrageous. Overall, what impressed me the most was the service and that it was “different” from your local Spanish breakfast choices, so it’s good for a change. I don’t see myself going back though…
