I first met Angelo while travelling in the Basilicata region in 2010. During that trip, our party of 5 (myself, my wife, my 10 month old daughter, and another couple) stayed at La Dimora for 2 nights. At that time, we were mainly emailing and he was incredibly responsive and helpful in coordinating our trip. From the moment we arrived Angelo was amazing. He got us set up in our rooms and offered us an early evening taste of antipasti and a tasting of the amazing regional Agnlianico wines. From there, the wine kept flowing and 15 courses later, we were finally done with the most amazing meal. The following day was a Sunday, the day of the famous Sunday Lunch at La Dimora. This particular Sunday was even more special as it was the day of his daughter's Christening. As we were guests at La Dimora, Angelo invited our group to attend the festivities. Our group was seated at the head table with Angelo and his family...and the food was impeccable. We left the next morning and we all decided it was the highlight of our 2010 trip. I told Angelo at our departure that we would come back and see him again.||Jump ahead to 2024. My wife and I had planned a trip to Italy with our 12 and 14 year old children and we decided that we wanted to go back to La Dimora and share the experience with our kids. I emailed Angelo (when I asked if he remembered us he said he did) and made a reservation. Angelo said when you first come to La Dimora you are a friend, and when you come back you are family. That is exactly what happened. We arrived and we felt like we were at home. We swam in the pool, relaxed, and enjoyed the peaceful place. When dinner time arrived, we walked out onto the patio to a table set in the middle with 5 chairs...and it turned out that Angelo joined us for dinner. What came next was a 15 course meal with Aglianico wines, and amazing conversation. Then his wife, Caremla, joined us and we continued the conversation deep into the evening. She even went into town to get us gelato from the festival as our third dessert. Truly a wonderful night.||We finished the trip with a lovely breakfast and more conservation, some parting gifts, and hugs.||La Dimora is truly a wonderful place, and Angelo and Carmela are the most amazing hosts one could ask for. We cannot wait to visit again.
