The 38 Best Restaurants in Florence, Italy - Eater

"For Roman-style pizza by the slice, La Divina Pizza is worth a visit. Made with high-quality local ingredients, pizza here comes topped with thoughtful combinations of artisan cheeses, meats, and seasonal produce. Try the fresh fig and burrata or the spicy sliced salami with plump purple olives. A few slices is ideal for a quick lunch with a glass of beer or prosecco." - Coral Sisk

Decided to take pizza as our dinner. Order 1 round pizza with ham and 1 more 1 slice pizza with onion & truffle. Need to wait quite long time due to only 3 persons running the show and surprise the taste dam good. So far this is the best pizza that I have in Italy. Can give it a try if you passby.

This is my second time that I dined at La Divina Pizza in Florence. Both times I ordered the aubergine, bacon, and rosemary pizza. It is truly divine! The owners are kind and very friendly. They had some great wine options as well.

Despite great google reviews I was initially a bit sceptical, as their pizzas on display at the counter didn’t look appealing to me. However, we decided to give it a shot and ordered two pizzas for takeaway. The pizzas turned out to be fantastic. The rustic dough was especially memorable, with a wonderful chewy texture, the toppings and combinations of the flavours were delicious. The only thing - while they prepared our order, we weren’t allowed to sit inside, even though all the tables were empty. Waiting outside in the cold was a bit uncomfortable, which took away from the overall experience.

A little gem of a spot to stumble upon!!Roberta and her husband make everything with the freshest local ingredients and the sourdough was delicious!! Espresso was excellent. All made with love

Google
Roberta / Divina is so charming. We loved her company as much as the food. Can confidently say we’ve never had pizza like it and that’s a compliment! She guided us through the menu and made great recommendations. She’s been doing this for over 20 years and is so passionate about the food she makes. Highly recommend. If we’re ever in Florence again we will return!

Very kind owners and delicious pizza. I ordered two Napoli slices to go and was given around four. This was such a kind gesture! The pizza was truly delicious and crunchy. They also sell organic lemonade (without sugar) which tasted excellently. We were very tired and sweaty from the heat, so we greatly appreciated the kindness showed by the owners, especially towards our baby daughter. Definitely recommend 10/10!

Google
This is hands down the best pizza I’ve had in Italy! This quaint corner pizza shop is family owned by a wonderful couple. All of their ingredients are fresh and organic. In addition to the traditional round pizzas, their claim to fame is the ever changing seasonally dependent pizza by the weight. The daily choices are beautifully displayed and you can choose as much or as little as you’d like. I advise tasting them all since they are all such a refreshing take on the traditional pizza. I’ve never tasted a pizza as aesthetically beautiful or as delicious anywhere else!

Google
Best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. The owner was incredibly sweet and you could tell how passionate she was about the food and using local ingredients. We did a few pieces of the thick crust which was delicious, but the thin crust classic pizza with burrata, rocket, and prosciutto stole the show. The crust was crispy and flavorful. Would 11/10 recommend.

Yelp
Ok. This place is bomb! Much better than the pizza we had in Rome (which was fine, just a bit bland). Fresh, saucy, dough was perfect. Owners were so nice. Plan to hit this place again before we leave Florence.

Yelp
Such a cute area sitting outside! The staff was nice and service was quick. The pizza was quite good but I wasn't as big of a fan of the sour dough, probably up to personal preference. As American tourists, staff was accommodating, but there was a mix up with our bill so we had to pay the difference for the correct bill. The aperol spritz was perfection and so refreshing!

Yelp
Neighborhood-y and quaint place, friendly service and delicious pizza. We did the Roman style thick crust (sold by weight) and it was a study in the power of simplicity with great ingredients. Taste perfection, we all loved it.

Yelp
Great pizza by the slice. Everything is organic. One of the best pizza by the slice I've had. Only draw back is that it is a like out of the main tourist centre

Yelp
We stopped into La Divina Pizza one night after aperitivo, and it was a nice spot to have a good pizza. They had quite a few options, and it was a nice intimate place to sit and dine. It was cool watching them make pizzas, as it was truly just a two-person shop. The owner and chef (whose photos were on the menu) were the only two back there hustling to get orders out. The hospitality and pizza were both very good, and I would recommend it if you're in the area.

Yelp
If you like a side of condescension with your mediocre pizza, this is the place for you! The pizza tasted about the same as everywhere else (except the sausage, which was very salty and not good), but when I asked for some olive oil (bc I like to dip my crust in it) the lady said no...she then proceeded to show me a picture of a pig and told me some story about how the sausage is special (again, it was not even good sausage). I just looked at her, very puzzled, not understanding why they would refuse a paying customer such a simple request. Then she said "you will eat like Italian, no like American." I couldn't believe it. Don't waste your money here. It's overpriced and nothing special. Go somewhere they are at least grateful for your patronage.

Yelp
Unassuming place in an unassuming location in/near Santa Croce area. Sat outside in their limited seating space twice on our trip and had delicious pizza each time. Owner is a lovely women and her son is the pizzas chef. They truly put love into their pizza. It's all they serve ( food wise) and they make two kinds of pizza. A traditional thin crust Napoli style, and a more focaccia style crust but ten time better. Dough is proofed for 24-40 hours and has great flavor. Pizza is very subjective so to each his own but of all the pizza we tried I'n Italy I put this as one of the best or at least very legit

Yelp
At this small un-assuming restaurant we had one of our best meals during our trip through Italy! We tried their selection of pizzas, and they were all amazing and full of flavor. The lady inside was so kind and took the time to explain the different pizzas. You can tell they really care about the food and there were plenty of locals which is always a good sign. Thank You!

Yelp
Great service - very helpful and kind. Fresh pizza and very good. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
So much yummy food and such sweet owners!! So authentic too!! Accommodated us perfectly even though it was later in the night.

Yelp
Best pizza ever served by the marvelous crust chef! She recommended a wonderful selection and variety.

Yelp
This place was great for my kids. It is a bit off the beaten path so we were the only ones there for lunch. We met the owners and they really engaged us. The pizzas are pre-made and visible, you just tell them how much of each kind you want and they heat it up. They also offer fresh juices that are delicious! Once we got our food, we sat outside and the bar that faces into the kitchen. the kids could see right in and they loved it. The pizza was yummy and the overall experience was way less touristy than any other place we had been up to that point. I took tons of pictures and it felt like a private photo shoot. The owner checked up on us and made sure we had what we needed.

Yelp
Food: 8.5; Price: 8; Ambience: 8; Service: 7 One of my top 20 pizza places in Italy. Crust: Whole grain & thicker than usual in this side of the world. Wonderful ingredients. Quick and delicious. Reminds me of mini Antico Forno Roscioli in Rome. Solid 4

Yelp
Staff was very friendly and passionate about their pizza creations - all gourmet with fresh, local ingredients. Small 1,50 euro cover charge for dine-in, but lovely seating outside. Pay-by-weight, so you can order the size to your liking. I really liked the pepperoni pizza that they had, which was slightly more expensive by weight but well worth it!
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Food was excellent. So fresh and unique pizza choices. We ordered artichoke and fresh mozzarella. It can normal style with almost a wheat crust. Very tasty and hot directly out of the ice. Second slice was a pepperoni, that was more of a sandwich with sesame seeds on the top. Very unique but still amazing and fresh. You can tell everything is made fresh daily and very cool that what is left is all that is made. She would cut the slices to your preferred size and weigh for pricing. Only drawback is it's off the beaten path a bit but worth stopping in

Yelp
Yum! Friendly servers and delicious pizza. Great place. We had the Margherita it was excellent

Yelp
Fresh ingredients. My husband and I came here late night and the owner was super sweet and informative. Pizza is great! Definitely would recommend to friends.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite pizzeria, if not my favorite pizzeria in town!! If you live here or are visiting, you have to check it out. My favorite is the stuffed pizza with scamorza and vegetables. The ingredients are the best, fresh, in season and local. I really don't think they have a bad thing on their menu. They do have use a lot of meat in their pizzas but the vegetarian options are really good and they always have at least two or three. Plus they can make you whatever you want in your pizza or sandwich as long as they have the ingredients. It's a family run business and they are super sweet and helpful. This is place is really on the top of my list. ... (great beer options too)

Yelp
Love this pizza - with sausage and spinach, it was so good. On a foccacia crust. The kids had the more traditional margarita pizza and they loved it, the crust was the more traditional thin. Its great and was worth the walk we did to find it!! Its in a residential area

Yelp
Amazing. Food is very good. You will leave very full. Order the all natural sodas they are delicious. Beware the address on yelp is wrong. It's right on the corner of the same block

Yelp
We are in Florence for a few days and wanted to eat some pizza for lunch. Divina Pizza is a couple of blocks from our hotel and was quite easy to find using Google Maps. The owner speaks very little English but we were able to understand her and most importantly she was able to understand us. She was very nice and explained to us that she only uses organic products and she makes most of the sauces and cream for the pizzas herself. The pizza is sold by weight. My husband had a slice of Margheurita (??) pizza and I had a slice of ricotta, hot salami, and eggplant pizza and a slice of pork and black cabbage pizza both were delicious and fresh tasting. We also had a couple of local sodas. It is a very small shop with just a few tables and it is frequented by locals, as the owner knew many by name. It is a must while in Florence. The prices were reasonable and the pizza was absolutely wonderful!

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Organic very Italian ingredients. Some of the combinations are too creative. Just do the basic combinations and a glass of house wine and you'll love it..

Yelp
First stop in Florence as a recommendation and it did not disappoint! Fresh ingredients and amazing!

Yelp
Divina pizza is a very unique pizza place with pizza unlike any you've ever had. They make the dough special every day and the pizzas are inside of the dough. Check out the video and you'll know what I mean. Great inside and outside seating and the pizza is truly amazing!! http://youtu.be/xOGgxDXQgrQ

Yelp
The pizza is fantastic, it's a must for every visitors of Florence!!! The service is also very nice. Small place and sometime you have to wait, but it's worth for it!

Yelp
Excellent pizza... The Margherita pizza was the best that I have had, with a perfect whole wheat crust. The owners and staff are very friendly and they use fresh and healthy ingredients. Highly recommend a visit here when in Florence.

Yelp
We had landed in Florence on New Year's Eve and did not make a reservation. As one can imagine we were not able to be seated anywhere. We happened to walk past this place earlier and they were opened. The staff was very friendly and the pizza was amazing! I'm hindsight I wish we had ordered more. This is a great place to go for some delicious pizza. We may be back before we leave. ;)

Lorenzo D.

Yelp
If you like mediocre food and tourist traps, do not eat here. Please. Leave this tiny place to people who seek the sublime. This is the best pizza in Florence. Hands down. Bar none. In fact, it's ranked in the top 50 pizzas in ALL OF ITALY in a competition called 50 Top Pizza, considered to be the oscars of pizza. (See https://www.repubblica.it/sapori/2018/07/25/news/50_top_pizza_2018_la_classifica-202617326/). That's in Italy, the birthplace of pizza. How many pizzerias do you think there are in all of Italy, population approximately 60 million? A ridiculous amount. Now, can you imagine what it takes to come out in the top 50 pizzerias? There are reasons La Divina Pizza is on the list. Passion. Ingredients. Process. Creativity. If your palate is truly discerning, this will be some of the best pizza - or the best - you will ever have. Take it from a very picky Italian eater.

Yelp
Super interesting varieties of pizza and they are all delish! Chose a few different kinds to take home and enjoy with wine! One of them had white beans and was my favorite!
google avatar

laura h.

Yelp
Family owned establishment, friendly, Delicious pizza and so many varieties. It's great they let you select a bunch of different flavors. Between hubby and I. We tried 7 different slices and all are so delicious. Asked for Coke he owner said not good for you recommended fruit Italian soda. Now that's the real Italian way. You have to come here if you're in town!
google avatar

Yelp
La Divina Pizza is one of the best Pizzeria in town. Pizza is made with a mother yeast and ancient grains. This combination for a pizza dough is a rare find and makes the pizza tasty and easier to digest. Toppings are amazing and include Mozzarella di Bufala, Nduja sausage, seasonal vegetables, goat cheese and more. The restaurant is very small although you can even order takeaway!

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Loved this place, we're going back tomorrow to get some more. Stumbled on it as we walked around looking for a place to eat a late lunch. Something simple and quick, but good quality. We were hungry, every place else was closed, kids were hot and grumpy. Pizza here was great, pay by weight so you can have a slice whatever size you want. The quality was great, the flavor combinations were different and tasty (with some more traditional ones for conservatives).
