I visited Guadalajara for a couple of days and stayed near Sao Paulo Street. On my first night, I discovered La Casa De Los Platos and had a wonderful experience there. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. While walking around, I noticed that La Docena was very busy and seemed popular, so I decided to try it the next night. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the first night. The drinks were just average, and I was hoping to try guacamole—but what they served was a small portion of something similar. The menu is heavily focused on seafood and oysters, which didn’t really suit my taste, so I ended up ordering a burger. It was decent, but nothing memorable. Overall, I’d rate La Docena 3 stars. It might be a better fit for seafood lovers, but for me, it didn’t quite live up to the hype

Google
The raw bar is very fresh and flavors they put together are so good! Also had the Jamaica Mezcal and it also did not disappoint. Highly recommend this chain. They had a lot of staff so even when it got busy there was no drop off in service. The cleanliness was a 10. Safe travels!

Quite the experience I highly recommend this place for seafood lovers hands down one of the best seafood chains in North America

Google
Sadly I was quite disappointed by the food at La Docena. The oysters were good, but I ended up being charged more than $200 each. The crab soup had good flavor, though a little salty, and the crab meat was shredded into very tiny pieces, no there were no chunks at all. The tortillas that came with the soup were absolutely terrible, the tasted stale and I would have been disappointed if they were with $50 tacos, let alone with a meal that cost $1900 for one person. The grilled octopus was ok, but nothing special, the texture was mediocre and the flavor was shallow. I mention the price because if it was half as much I would say it was ok, and they had room to improve. At this price, and with their reputation, I feel they are not concerned with doing a good job anymore.

Seems a popular place We did not have a reservation and had to wait 45 mins Overall food and vibe was good

Google
Absolutely delicious seafood spot — everything is fresh and expertly prepared. We had the oyster special selection, shrimp tostada, raw scallop, and jamon iberico. It was all amazing!

Google
I was at the mall and had the taste for some seafood. Ordered a dozen oysters with Parmesan and butter sauce 👌🏾Food was delicious. Them oysters was small however the Tinto Vino was Strong and made up for it😎

Google
Great seafood in this restaurant. It may not be the most elegant but the food is definitely worth it. I would highly recommend you order the octopus, shrimp and oysters.

Yelp
A late night in Guadalajara, at the Sao Paula mall and looking for a great restaurant. The nightlife here is entertaining and if you are into watching people, stop here. La Docena had a curb side view of the crowd and a killer menu of delicious seafood. This site is a must try for the food, location, and watching people. We sat at the inner loop as they were packed and we had no reservations. We ordered the grilled large shrimp with the heads on. A grand slam with flavor, taste and size of the shrimp. You must try them as you will not regret it. The charbroil Rockefellers oysters and Tabasco oysters were smoking hot and big flavor bombs. WELL DONE! If you are looking for delicious grilled seafood with a cajun twist, La Docena is your go to spot. 5/5 on service, ambience and most importantly, food. Thank you La Docena for a great meal.

Yelp
Good was over priced and portions not much for the price paid. Be careful when ordering because they have tons of specials they try to sell you that aren't all that special. Did order the skirt steak and although it was good it was definitely not a skirt steak. Order medium well and came out still mooing! Won't be back

Yelp
I came to this place back in 2019 for the first time because my hotel was across the street and now in 2023 and service still very good. Joseph our server was very friendly and with a great attitude. He definitely took care of us but all the staff was very good and food and drinks excellent. Definitely come back and recommend

Yelp
Disappointed. I had such high hopes for this place especially when looking at the photos of fresh seafood. When we got there on a Saturday afternoon the place was packed. There was a wait for about 15 minutes before we got seated but our waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered the tuna tostada, a dozen grilled oysters (half spinach and cheese and the other half truffles), large grilled shrimp, shrimp aguachiles, and for dessert we got the restaurant's version of lava cake. My first sinking feeling happened when I bit into the tuna tostada. It didn't taste fresh. Even with the lime and seasoning it was overwhelming not good. I was glad that my bite was small. The lingering taste of unfresh fish had to be downed with my strong Jarrito drink. The truffle oyesters tasted better than the spinach ones so at least those were decent. My husband had better luck with his dishes and the grilled shrimp was huge but needed salt after they were peeled. The aguachiles had a really good Smokey flavor. The dessert was serviced with a vanilla ice cream and was ok according to my husband. I'm not a fan of milk candy so opted not to even try it. Anyhow this was the most expensive restaurant we've had while in Guadalajara and the most disappointing. Would not recommend or return. Forgot to mention that there is valet parking at the front. Bill came out to $114 USD not including tip.

Yelp
Best service, sangria, and oysters you'll have anywhere in GDL. I hated oysters before this and they've made me a believer. Highly recommend!!

Yelp

Yelp
Another spot we found up the street from our hotel. This spot was like a 15 min walk away... super lucky, right!! Nicely decorated spot definitely a upscale but casual vibe. We had a big dinner planned so we just wanted some drinks and a couple dozen oysters. I liked the oysters raw as well as cooked. So this place was perfect I really liked the ones pictured below. If you love seafood and near the midtown/ financial district you should definitely go here.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere, great service and extremely fresh fish. We started with the giant chocolate clam - sublime. Veal Sweetbread was on the menu, an item I very rarely see so of course I had to order it - excellent! For my entree I had the whole grilled fish - wasn't seasoned very well but it was fresh. My husband had the spicy crab soup, very flavorful and his entree, the grilled octopus. All in all a very nice experience. Should we visit the city again would definitely go back.

Yelp
Stopped by here for dinner when I was in Guadalajara for work. This place has amazing seafood!! We ordered the Xpirones to share and I had the catch of the day which was red snapper. Everything was super fresh and tasted amazing! They do get pretty busy so I recommend making a reservation if you don't want to wait.

M C.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here today. The service was very accommodating and the outdoor dining patio had great ambiance. Came because of the great reviews on the grilled oysters, and they didn't disappoint. Additionally, ordered the lengua tacos which were amazing, best lengua I've ever had. We also ordered the fish and bone marrow which were also good, but we've had better. Stick to their specialties and you will have a great meal!

Yelp
A must try in Guadalajara! The food, the atmosphere, the drink, and the service are all awesome! It gets busy on a Saturday night with the young rich local crowd. But nothing pretentious. Everyone has a cool vibe. The stand out food items: Scallops Agua Chiles (tatemado) Grill Whole Shrimp Tuna Sashimi Some of the best I have ever tasted, period! My words would not describe the taste and textures of these dishes correctly. All I can say is they are a must try.
google avatar

Yelp
Shut the front door!!! These guys are amazing and the food is sooooo good!! Fresh and delicious oysters Perfect grilled food (right in front of me and no, it was not uncomfortable) Awesome and friendly service These is probably the best restaurant in Mexico that I've been.
google avatar

Cindy Y.

Yelp
The grilled oyster was so juicy and fresh, cooked, beyond expectations. Cocktail was also a nice surprise, finished mine in 5 minutes
google avatar

Saeed D.

Yelp
This place is a definite 5 start. Not only the good is perfect the staff are super nice and helpful. I'm a raw oyster kinda guy, but strongly suggest to try their grilled oysters. You can get raw oysters anywhere, but these grilled oysters are one of a kind. We had white fish and seared tuna and both were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sides were just enough and perfect match. In addition of all above the presentation was very beautiful. It's like looking at a piece of art in a plate. Tuna just melted in my mouth and and it was so good that i didn't want to eat anything after that. Although portions looked small but it was just perfect. The taste of so good, you can't stop eating.
google avatar

Mohssine K.

Yelp
Very nice place. Always packed. Good food and good vibe. Try Rockefeller Oysters, sandwiches, whole fish...delicious. When in Guadalajara, this is a must

Rosa F.

Yelp
Smoked artichoke and hamburgers are delicious! The drinks are a must! Dinners get busy, but service is great and you can't beat the ambiance.
google avatar

Yelp
Salty. The baby calamari was so salty. The crab soup was so salty. The shrimp was so salty. Blacklisting this place.
google avatar

Tony P.

Yelp
Went for lunch and was pretty packed. Try to reserve if possible. For the appetizer we ordered the Octopus and the fried calamari, both were really good and cooked well. For the main plate we ordered Lonja de Pescado and Arrachera. The Lonja is a pretty small portion but has a great flavor. The arrachera was very tender and cooked to perfection. Would definitely come back to eat there again.
google avatar

Zubair K.

Yelp
Very good seafood restaurant service some solid options from crab to tuna, enjoyed all my dishes here and would recommend this place. I would recommend making a reservation here since it gets quite busy. The dessert looked good but I didn't try it since it was lunch time and I wasn't feeling like it.

John K.

Yelp
A very good selection of seafood and steak. Good sized portions and fresh. A nice busy place but still good service

Yelp
The server we had this evening simply said was terrible. She completely ignored my wife and I while she split her time doting over the family sitting at the table next to us and being unprofessionally inappropriate with a waiter who was also working in the restaurant. We first waited unnecessarily long for her to come by so we could order our first drink. We then waited again for a long long time to receive the QR code with the link to the menu. In fact she came to take our order before we even saw the menu. She came to take our order and then she never checked in with us again for the rest of the night. We had to ask another server for our check who was very nice but came over asking for us to contribute to a fund to help support the staff but honestly after we had been ignored the entire evening we were disinterested. We told that server about the experience we had and she went over and told the server who then started staring at us in an attempt to intimidate or make us feel uncomfortable. She and a couple other servers then stood right next to our table and continued to ignore us while also making their presence know. When we got up to leave they wouldn't look at us or say anything at all. I have to say that I have never been put into this type of situation before while dining especially at a restaurant as nice as yours. Even though the food was excellent the experience ruined the evening.

Yelp
OMG it was a great experience... location spoke good English, had good music, pleasant staff, and most importantly... Amazing food... 1. Ostiones a las brasas- char grilled oysters 1/2 dozen 2. Tostada de jaiba azul- blue point crab tostada 3. Camarones al grill - NOLA style grilled shrimps
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
This place is always crowded. The grill fish and prawns are must try dishes. They have English menus and a few servers do speak English. We only had a party of two so we couldn't order as much as we want. We had fresh oysters , grill oysters, grill half fish , grill prawns and chicharon. Everything is super fresh and delicious. Service is efficient and attentive. Definitely we come back next time when we visit Guadalajara.

Yelp
I found La Docena while walking near my hotel (NH) in Zapopan. The environment is super chill, but very attentive. The bartender was very nice, and continued checking on me to see if I needed anything. I ordered 2 glasses of Don Julio 70, a half dozen Kumamoto Oysters, and a Tuna Sashimi dish. Everything was amazing, and it cost me $25. I gave a good tip for the great service. The seafood that they serve here is fresh, and modern in presentation. Watching the chefs grill the Oysters, fish, and Octopus was pretty cool, and it all looked outstanding. I highly recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Amazing food for the heart of Mexico! What a refreshing, fresh and exotic finish to our fantastic trip in Guadalajara... this restaurant was so absolutely different than any other here and so under rated! Coming from the heart of OC where great food is everywhere this place is incredible! Our waiter was attentive, creative and offered us different choices, and we just had a fabulous experience! Thank you La Docena!

Yelp
One of the best seafood restaurants I've been to. It called an oyster bar, but it's more of a seafood restaurant. Everything is fresh and grilled in front of your eye on s big grill behind the counter. This area is lined with great restaurants. The prices are about the same and service is implacable at all of them, the differences are in the food and atmosphere. This little joint has a cheerful and casual atmosphere. It has a simple decor and the emphasis is on the food. It looks like something between a bar to a Sunday market restaurant. Simplicity and quality are the roles of the game here. They have an open patio overlooking the street and a small indoor area. The menu offering is wide and we couldn't make up our minds so we told the server we want dished of shrimp, fish, calamari, and oysters. All grilled. Everything we were served was fresh, high quality, perfectly seasoned, and nicely presented. The best dish for me was the oysters in butter sauce, the fish was also very appealing to my taste buds. The rest of the plates we were served were good but not as good as these two. The shrimps are really prawns and they were juicy and fresh. The have so many servers that won't stop moving around serving or cleaning tables, or making sure the patrons are happy. Happy we were indeed.

Yelp
Our favorite place to go to in Guadalajara. This whole area has been developed in the last 5 years, anchored by the beautiful NH hotel across the street. The whole vibe of La Docena is super hipster but also feels like youre in a beach town in Spain. The service is always good, and the food is to die for. We always order the grilled oysters, though we never seem to order enough. I even try to recreate them at home (butter, parsley, garlic, salt) but they are never as good. My new favorite thing on the menu are the marinated and grilled head-on shrimp. Messy and amazing. This last visit we shared some different tostadas. The one with Jaiba (crab) was just ok, I preferred the raw tuna ones. The scallops were a little overcooked, but didn't damper our enjoyment of the food and the ambiance. Love this place!
google avatar

Staci W.

Yelp
Nice location and vibe from the bar. I ordered the 1/2 fish, but did not realize it comes on the bone and the server did not. I didn't eat it but the server did not offer an alternative and charged me for it on the bill. I had 1/2 the meal of my friend, which was shrimp sandwich and very delicious. I would have rated higher if I was offered an alternative meal or if it was removed from the bill.

Yelp
attentive servers! Loved the service and the quality of food. The fish was fresh! Would highly recommend this place. The ambiance is great, too. No gimmicks, everyone is just chill.

Yelp
I've tried many seafood restaurants in GDL, but this one is the best. Great grilled shrimps!!! Amazing grilled seasoning fish!
google avatar

Shannon C.

Yelp
Horrible service. The waitress wanted to seat a party of 5 in a small table for 4. We ended up left. There are many other great restaurants around the area, no need to try this one. Save your energy, don't come here and ruin your mood.
google avatar

Victoria C.

Yelp
Excellent service, food, and vibe!!! My husband and I ordered 1/2 k of blue ships grilled, grilled whole fish, sweet potato chips, and grilled butter sauce oysters! Each dish was perfectly cooked and displaced with amazing seasonings! Will be returning for sure

Yelp
You know guys my coworker bought me dinner here. I had raw oysters for the 1st time and they were really good but their fried Oyster were amazing. I had the poor boy shrimp sandwich and it was as delicious. It is very lively and the wait staff is great very helpful in suggestions with their favorites from there. Look like they can handle any drink you want order as well. Highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here with a group of 8 people, after an hour wait they sat us by a walk-way only to move us after we got our drinks near the hot kitchen. (Pointless) our waitress Myra who is very young and inexperienced kept leaving us attended and would get bothered each time we would flag her down. She went to put in our fish dish order which she claims takes 30 mins to cook. She never came back to take the rest of the orders. Again we flag her down. She never brought our tortillas till we were done eating after we reminded her again and again. We got a hold of another waitress (girl with neck or arm tattoos) which was just as worse she had a bullshit attitude. The whole experience was a fail and I thought it couldn't get worse. When we were paying for the bill Myra counts the money in front of us at our table (I've never seen any waitress do this before in my life BTW) and says the tip isn't 10%?!! And I'm thinking "why would I over tip for mediocre bullshit service?" My cousin grabs extra money and tells her here's more than your 10% . I have never heard of such thing. Been to multiple places in Beverly Hills and I've never experienced such a thing. Pathetic. Like someone also mentioned on a TripAdvisor review: these are young people (staff) that are inexperienced. Very true. Also the food was ok the grilled fish was salty, the ceviche tostadas are the size of a quarter and if you're going to serve po' boys at least do the proper research on what ingredients to use.

Yelp
This is a very good restaurant next to NH. It is classy and elegant and little more than in price than most restaurants but in line for the area. I'm an average guy but big on tastes and flavors but I don't want to feel cheated if the quality and the portion aren't met with the right pricing. This is a date night restaurant. So if you are looking for some privacy and it's you and your significant other and you are willing to spend 40 to 50 a plate for each person, then this a prime location and excellent choice to do so. Will you remember your night and your order, Absolutely. So, what to order. You're at an oyster bar so not ordering them would be a sin. My order was simply divine. The shells are hand picked and only the best are provided to the customers. They were fresh and had a little of parsley / cilantro sprinkled on top. Next I ordered Grilled Blue shrimp. They were phenomenal. Highly recommended. Remember its not about the portions here as it rather about the flavors and quality. The shrimp are cooked with perfection care and the seasoning used was so unique that I had I hard time deciphering its flavor code. Cayenne pepper, Saffron? fresh garlic. Too delicious. i did notice that if you wanted to something simpler, Po'Boy sandwiches were available as well. The French baguette is crunchy on its exterior but provided a soft pillowly inside for its ingredients as they lay themselves to sleep inside. The sandwich portion is small but big on flavors. Definitely, La Docena is a destination location for the best of foodies. Check yourself in and enjoy.

Yelp
Excellent selection of both meats and seafood cooked just the way they should be. Ceviche is outstanding... Staff very friendly
