Had high expectations for this place. Well decorated and extremely friendly and excellent service. The presentation of the food was also excellent, but I came to eat not just take a picture, for mexican food there was no real flavor to the food which resulted in it being very disappointed especially for the price. Had chicken, shrimp, octopus, ceviche all lacking flavor. The only item which was descent was the fish. Honestly would have better tasting food at a chipotle. Lastly we had dinner on the outside and had a bug issue as others mentioned.

Stopped here today for lunch. The food taste authentic it was amazingly tasty!! I wish I got more pictures of the food, but every dish we ordered the flavor was great!! Service was excellent we didn’t wait long for the food and place was very nice ! I cannot wait to return the salad , fish , the tortilla soap omg !

Google
La Doña Mexican Seafood & Grille located in Sunrise, FL within Sawgrass Mills Mall gives you a modern twist to Mexican cuisine! To start off, we decided to check out the Jamaica-Naranja Mocktail that consisted of refreshing Hibiscus 🌺 Flower Tea infused with agave, orange juice, and a Tajin rim. To our surprise, the mocktail was subtle and very refreshing! For appetizer, we decided to share the Shrimp Ceviche made with Clamato based salsa, lime, avocado, and cilantro. This dish was freshly made, and the quantity was perfect to share between two people. For the main entree, we decided to try the Lobster Taco. Although very tasty, it was presented more as a Lobster wrap. It was very cheesy and I wished I could taste more the lobster. To end the night, we decided to try the Churros De La Doña dessert with a unique presentation that consisted of the churros hanging on an umbrella. The dessert provided multiple toppings like Dulce de Leche, Chocolate Fudge, Sprinkles, and more! Overall, @ladonarestaurants (IG) provided a relaxing lively environment with outdoor and indoor seating. The customer service was excellent and I would recommend for a nice outing with friends or after a shopping day 🛍️

The service was amazing, the food was good. The dessert churros presentation was amazing. Only thing is they need more AC inside.

Google
I want to start by saying....Thank you for bringing quality to the Sawgrass Mills Mall. Your decor, your staff and your dishes/drinks presentation exceeded my expectations. I was extremely pleased with your service, attention to detail and of course the food. Everything was soooo yummy. I have been there 4x already. With every visit... I leave satisfied. Your Reposado Margarita is the best I've had and I've had plenty. I wish you much success. You're not a basic restaurant. You're chic and more upscale than other restaurants around.

Google
La Doña Restaurant exceeded my expectations! Imagine the enticing aroma of freshly crafted guacamole at your table—an appetizing start to an exceptional dining experience. The tuna tacos and perfectly grilled octopus were nothing short of culinary artistry, each bite a delightful explosion of flavors. The ambient setting, coupled with the warm charm of old-fashioned reposado, added a touch of sophistication to the overall atmosphere. However, what truly set the experience apart was the attentive and knowledgeable staff, ensuring a seamless blend of gastronomic pleasure and top-tier service. For those wanting to enjoy a piece of Mexico in South Florida, La Doña Restaurant is your go-to. It's not just a meal; it's a sensory celebration of flavors and hospitality, bringing a taste of Mexico to the heart of South Florida.

Google
Great restaurant!! The food is really amazing. The service is outstanding. Our server was Dayana. What an amazing lady who knows her job. She prepared a delicious guacamole in front of us. We ate the luch menu, which is a delicious and very reasonable price for the quality of the food. This restaurant has two chefs, one Mexican and one French, and Dayana told us it is a fusion between both cuisines. This restaurant does not charge you an abusive tip. They just ask you for 7%, 5% and 2%.You won't regret it. 200 % recommended it.

Google
la Doña is one of the best places to gather and enjoy the best Mexican gastronomy with friends and families in South Florida . The food is high end cuisine , the service is excellent and the manager , Omar , took care of every single detail of our Christmas dinner. Susi was an amazing waitress also. 💯 recommended.

Yelp
Buen servicio, excelente comida.

Yelp
A beautiful mexican and Seafood Grill at the Oasis. The friendly staff informed me that they opened the restaurant three months. The inside is very modern and mid-high end. Massive interior with lots of tables and a full bar. There is also plenty of outside patio seating. They host a Happy Hour every Monday - Thursday from 5p - 9p which has half off all appetizers and drinks for a flat $9.00.

Joy R.

Yelp
Worse service ever, when we entered the restaurant the lady at the front, was ridiculously rude for starters. The ambiance was super dark and unappealing, and the place overall just feels and looks unpleasant. We sat down and started looking a the menu, the server gave us complimentary tortillas chips with a god awful taste, and that was the end of it. We ran out of there even before they got to ask for our menu choices.

Yelp
We were shopping at the mall and thought the place looked cute and decided to give it a try. We each had a drink. I had the skinny margarita and my partner had the sangria. It was just ok. Not great. We had the pork belly guacamole and I like my guacamole a little chunkier but it was tasty. The chips were t that great. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and my partner had the mole enchiladas. Mine was tasty but looked more like a taco. The food was all visually pretty and the decor was really nice as well. Our waiter was fabulous and very attentive. I really wanted to love this place. The owner came to the table to check on us and he was so nice we didn't want to be negative. It can be great. I hope it improves. Plus the prices are steep.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday and it was perfect for a celebration. The service was incredibly friendly. Drinks were strong and good and appropriately priced. The food was better than even expected, starting with the guacamole & pork belly with agave honey & raspberries. Some of the best we've had. Everyone enjoyed their meals and then the churro umbrella with leche condensada for the dipping was fun & the perfect ending to the meal. We'll be back!

Yelp
To begin, La Dona Sawgrass Mills is a great restaurant that serves delicious Mexican, seafood, and grilled options. With its cozy decor, relaxing ambiance, and friendly staff, La Dona provides a memorable dining experience. I personally enjoyed their ceviche, octopus carpaccio as starters, their grilled meats, and seafood entrees. They also have a variety of drinks, including cocktails, wine, beer, and an extensive tequila & mezcal list, that complement their dishes really well. Not to mention, the portions are quite generous, so it's perfect for sharing with friends or family. Overall, I highly recommend La Dona Sawgrass Mills for anyone looking for a tasty meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

Yelp
Arrived with high expectations after seeing the story on Telemundo. I left unimpressed. The guacamole lacked flavor. The drink was weak. The server in my opinion lacked training. Don't see myself returning anytime soon.

Magela A.

Yelp
Stopped at this place while shopping at Sawgrass. It caught my eye since it's seafood and a bit more upscale than other restaurants there. So I decided to try it out. The service was outstanding and I got seated right away. I ordered the Tuna Tacos which is an app. They were good but maybe not the best. Overall, it was good and the service was outstanding. However, the price is something to consider for what you get. If I am in the area and I have an occasion I would maybe consider it...

Tairyn A.

Yelp
I came to La Doña restaurant with a friend for dinner. It is located in Sawgrass Mills mall where the luxury outlets are. We were seated right away and brought our menus. I decided to go for a glass of wine instead of margarita like I usually would at a Mexican restaurant. I opted for the Eloan Pinot Noir, we got the table side guacamole as an appetizer. And for my entrée, I got the grilled octopus. This had to be hands-down one of the best octopus I have had in a very long time. I love octopus, and I eat it anytime I see it on the menu so I've had quite a bit of it. You get one tentacle, but it was huge and it was cooked to perfection. It comes with potatoes and some arugula and tomato salad with a very nice avocado sauce. It was truly delicious. I will most definitely come back for it Everybody was very courteous and attentive. The manager came by a few times to ask if everything was to our liking Decor is nice and upscale for a mall a restaurant. I saw they have a fish tank on one of the walls that has no fish in it but I look forward to see how it comes together. I will definitely come back and I recommend this place. The food I had was delicious and the service was amazing.

Lynn R.

Yelp
Very pricey, Should have realized when it's empty on a Saturday night. Looked pretty, gave it a try. Lobster bisque was horrible, Lobster tacos even worse. They ask you if you would like bottled water or "tap" water. Beer on tap served not cold. This restaurant was a major disappointment in every way. With all the restaurants in Sawgrass this may just be rhe worst.

Yelp
Went here with my wife as part of our anniversary. It was a terrible experience overall. 1. Dirty. The seats were very dusty and dirty, the men's bathroom had a large water spill (or pee) in the middle of the bathroom. 2. Bad management. It was empty at lunchtime when we went. No employee had cleaned the seats, cleaned up the men's room, and we saw 2 waitresses eating tacos in the back... clearly visible to the public, AND it wasn't even busy. Why wouldn't they go to a back room? Eating tacos so the customer can see?? 3. Food was "meh".... Salsa was bad, chips were bad, guacamole was expensive and ok, my chicken enchilada mole was pretty good. 4 Price. Paid about $100 including tip. There is clearly no management or ownership anywhere near this place to motivate the employees to actually care about their jobs

Maria A.

Yelp
Unfortunately this is not Mexican, the queso fundido es Mexican American cheese melted. The enchiladas suizas nowhere close to being the traditional Mexican ones, the slow pork ribs were hard nothing like the soft.

Cristina P.

Yelp
The worst experience both front and back of the house. First, the server forgot one of the drinks. The appetizer was amazing. When the main course arrived they took the appetizer plates away and took our forks no one ever returned to give us new forks nor did they ask if our food was ok. We had to get up and ask for forks. The carnitas were full of fat. More fat than meat. The tortillas fell on the floor and the server said she would bring new ones, they never arrived. No one ever cane to see if the food was good or if we needed anything else. We had to get up and ask for the check because no one ever checked in us.

Werner A.

Yelp
The food was exceptional. We had the pork belly guacamole, one of the best ones I have had. The drinks: horchata and piña colada very good. The green ceviche highly recommended. Service ce was excellent. Thanks Paola for the great attention Ambiance: Great music. 4 stars because I agree with other reviews, prices are a little in the higher side, otherwise great experience

Joey N.

Yelp
I was trying to start this review on a positive note .... After much thought , I just couldn't ! This restaurant is just not good. Overpriced to say the least. Empty and dusty with smelly restrooms and angry waiters. Food was average (hence the overpriced statement). The ceviche verde was awful , duck carnitas were cold and the meat was incredibly dry. I would have gone to Taco Bell instead (and this is no joke because Taco Bell is an insult to Mexican food or any other food I might add). This was all very disappointing because this place was recommended by the executive chef himself, he's not a friend but met him through another person and we had an amazing conversation about food and he was so nice . I'm not Mr know it all when it comes to food but I've had my share of experiences, excellent, good, bad & awful. But my bar on Mexican food / fine dining is at a pretty good level , Quiriego in Hermosillo , MX comes to mind or Chapulin in Mexico City . I can give La Doña a second chance someday, they all deserve it, but we will see , at the moment one star it is.

Ana S.

Yelp
Nice place, love the music. Queso fundido $19 small portion. Salmón and birria were delicious however, the maduros side at $4.95, I had to say is expensive, yeap, only 2 pieces of maduros, we laughed. Dessert was Flan de la Abuela, beautiful presentation and it was good. I like that they have a complimentary mojalbete, a table side prepared sauce, so yummy. Ariana was our server and she was attentive. Will come back, no maduros next time lol

Anayleen C.

Yelp
Ordered shut 11/1/2024 for 19 violations. Flying insects in kitchen area also accumulation of black/green mold like substance in ice area and much more. Beware before you dine here

Amanda S.

Yelp
The food was amazing! It was fresh and the presentation was beautiful! The ambiance was cozy, elegant and romantic. Our waitress was kind and attentive. My husband and I are looking forward to our next visit

steven b.

Yelp
This place is very overpriced. Paid $250 for dinner real worth was $90. Very small portions. 5/10 for food 5/10 for drinks

Jade R.

Yelp
Service was top tier, my waiter Jorge gave the best suggestions & helped me make the most of my experience! The food and drinks were amazing & accompanied by a nice ambiance. I will definitely be returning soon!

Steve C.

Yelp
To start this off my wife is writing this because I am legally blind , Denied me entry I came In Saturday around 12:30 ish with my service dog and was told " I cannot be seated in the restaurant only out side" so I said that's okay . The hostess who barley speaks English precedes to then say we can't sit you out side it might rain . I say again "this is a service dog I have trouble seeing" ( if my walking stick didn't make it apparent ) why can't I just sit inside. She says " policy" I then ask to speak to the manager to she replies " She's still not here yet sorry". NO MANAGER ON DUTY IS OUTRAGEOUS. I left IMMEDIATELY, hungry and disappointed and in the rain.

Gina R.

Yelp
Amazing food I had the chicken Pibil style which was super flavorful and delicious. The Service was awesome we were greeted by the awesome host whom also made sure to stop by and make suggestions on some of his favorite dishes. Our server hugo was super helpful and attentive as well also made suggestions and made sure we had a perfect experience. The ambiance and music all great. Deff will come back when I'm in the area. :)

Dorlene P.

Yelp
La Dona in Sawgrass Mall impresses with authentic Mexican cuisine crafted by the talented Chef James. Each dish is a flavorful delight. The cocktails, expertly mixed by the bartender, are a perfect 10/10. A must-visit for exceptional food and drinks in a vibrant setting.

Francisco P.

Yelp
We just went to this restaurant. very beautiful place and treat us well. We was told that it was Mexican food fusion with France. Didn't like it! My wife couldn't eat the tortillas soup, left the whole soup. we told them and we still got charged. I eat everything, friends called my the "trashcan", I asked for lobster tortillas, I didn't like it. Its way too expensive... for the price I was expecting "a fusion" taste.

Katherine G.

Yelp
My intention writing this review is not to hurt the restaurant as I know it just opened; however is for someone from the restaurant to read it and rectify some of the issues. First the quality of the food does not reflect the price. My husband order a ribeye with potatoes and Brussels sprouts($45)and was served with a lots of potatoes and some julienne cut green peppers and onions, no Brussels sprouts. I order Mexican seafood rice($ 49) and the amount of rice compared to the seafood was huge. They burned my 1/2 lobster and azafrán was also burned given the rice a burning taste. Also the bathroom had two stalls(it's ok) and I had to search for toilet paper that finally found on the handicap one and had just enough for me, had paper on the floor and overall dirty. The restaurant decor is ok, but had an enormous empty fish tank. The restaurant was hard to find. The best of our meal was the dessert(lemon tres leches) and the appetizer(guacamole with pork belly) they were just delicious! The services were good and drinks were good too. I must say my husband and I are not food critics; however, we have eaten in a lots of restaurants all over the country as he travels for business. We have eating at chef Jose Andres in Vegas and Orlando, several restaurants of Chef Ramsey, Wolfgang Puck to mention some. The question is If I'll be back again, I may not!

Kevin Q.

Yelp
Awful, tourist trap. Food was wayyyy overpriced for nothing special and there were fruit flies EVERYWHERE. Constantly needed to be swatting them away. One of the worst restaurants I've ever been to

Clifford H.

Yelp
Amazing elevated and authentic Mexican cuisine. Everything we had was excellent. Guac, Tuna Tacos and carnitas . Best Mexican I have had in this country , period. Will be back . If you want cheap eats " do not come".

Richard L.

Yelp
Ordered take out and picked up by spouse. Food prepared sloppily in containers. Small portions and over priced. No receipt in bag.

Donald D.

Yelp
Poor service it was really slow maybe 4 tables no that many people we got seat it and some how they forgot they set us .we have to wave to the server to let them know we we're there .we Order guacamole that was made at the table nice flavor nothing special we Order the octopus was very good and also the don't remember meat tacos came with rice beans tortillas this was extremely salty overall really disappointing experience I was really looking forward to eat here .

Angie C.

Yelp
After seeing the splashy social media posts and announcements of this new restaurant at Sawgrass Mall, my husband and I were excited to try it. We made reservations for 8pm on a Saturday. Walking in we immediately noticed that the restaurant was only at half capacity. We were seated and greeted by our server, Nico. He is the reason we did not score this restaurant lower. He was incredibly friendly, personable and provided all around great service. It was a slightly warm evening and the restaurant had large windows behind the bar area wide open causing the restaurant to be warm. I had to fan myself with the menu. We ordered a cocktail and an appetizer. The portion of the appetizer (queso fundido) was laughable and for the price ($18) it was no where near enough. It was delicious, but again, the small portion and price were disappointing. We then ordered the short rib dinner. The meat was very tender but completely lacked flavor. Again, for the portion and flavor, a $60 price tag was not worth it. The experience was completely underwhelming and it is not a restaurant we will be returning to.

Rob J.

Yelp
The experience at La Doña was great. The food was really good and taste authentic. The ambiance was very high-end and nice. The service was exceptional. From the drinks to the food to the appetizers, everything was fire.

G L.

Yelp
$20 for lobster bisque, $29 for churros? Yea this place should last long. Better change your prices quick

Isaiah M.

Yelp
I walked Into this empty establishment and was told that I can only sit at the bar when I asked about the table I was told "please wait". after about 7 minutes I was finally seated and only one other table was in the restaurant. When the server finally came over she was very rube and rushing me and the end I finally ask for her name and she refused to give it to me . I then asked for the manager and she told me that no manager is on duty right now she should be in around two or three . Terrible experience.

Chris J.

Yelp
The service was very slow and I felt like it took longer for me to get served than other customers, management seemingly didn't care about anything going on and never bothered to care about my complaints, and the food took forever to come out. Very bad atmosphere and environment overall, will never give this place another thought.

Kassandra L.

Yelp
Very poor experience and a poor excuse for a Mexican restaurant. Not even busy and food took 30 min and it came out cold. Very over priced for the small portions.

Wilmer G.

Yelp
Plates are over priced and service is confused. Requested ice for our water and had to remind the waiter twice. Charged $12 for water claiming that Florida water was contaminated. Stay away from this place.

Anne-Rachelle D.

Yelp
Amazing food , great service ! Had such an amazing time here with my friends and the photographer at the restaurant was a great touch! We ordered the lobster taco, ceviche and lobster bisque . Everything was perfect!

John O.

Yelp
Nice place to go to at Sawgrass. Great table side Guac! More upscale than other places at the mall! I will continue to come here!

Marty D.

Yelp
The prices shown on their menu are very very prohibitive! There is no reason to spend this amount of hard earned money in this economic environment.

Ariana P.

Yelp
server was amazing food was terrible. chipotle would have been a better option. ceviche sauce tasted like ketchup and the only reason this place is getting a 2 is because the staff were extremely friendly
