The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona 2024

"The area around La Rambla is probably known more for the dexterity of pickpockets than the quality of food, so we’re lucky to have La Esquina. The all-day cafe near the shopping strip off Plaça Catalunya serves onion-ier-than-average omelets, hearty butifarra, plump roast chicken croquettes, and sandwiches like the Bikini: grilled cheese with Iberian ham and irresistibly oozy gruyère. The ambiance is more café-bistro than a formal restaurant, so come as you are—no need for reservations. After dark, it turns into a romantically lit bistro with Catalan natural wines and hearty dishes like oxtail sandwiches with smoked Idiazábal cheese. They taste like they would at your Catalan friend’s house, which is why this is a rare spot in the neighborhood that gets the local seal of approval." - isabelle kliger

Very cool venue, the staff are super friendly and helpful. The sangria was probably the best I’ve ever had and the food was delicious! The croquettes are a must try, although everything we ate was cooked perfectly and seasoned well.

We arrived to Barcelona for the first time and the doorman suggested La Esquina. We were amazed at the tapas we ordered. Zelma was our server and she took the time explain what each platter had. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The prices were also very reasonable.

I ate here with my daughter and her friend yesterday. They are damn fussy teenagers and they said the food was great! Good friendly service too, and the bill was 46€ for the 3 of us with drinks. 👌

Google
We ordered patatas bravas and were given FRNECH FRIES. We could see proper patatas bravas being served to other diners but we were told these were their patatas bravas with a smirk from the waitress. When we wanted to send them back because they are not what we ordered, they did thankfully give us a refund for these. The rest of the tapas was decent but the bravas were a joke. We know that this is not correct, and all of our Castellano and Catalan friends agree - serving French Fries for bravas is shameful.

I’ve waited 13 years to return to Spain and eat Spanish cuisine. La Esquina made the experience unforgettable! Every single thing we ate was beyond delicious and the staff was very kind. We will be back!

Google
May was amazing! She was so friendly, warm, welcoming and helped us with our food and drink order for a perfect lunch after a big morning of sight seeing and shopping. The Spanish omelette was divine! Compliments to the chef!! Beautiful, afternoon spent here, strongly recommend!

Yelp
Loved everything about La Esquina. Location was easy to get to. The restaurant was bright, airy, lots of space and comfortable. We arrived too early for lunch so our waitress recommended for us to enjoy a coffee while we waited for the start of lunch service. She was very friendly, no attitude at all. The caffe latte was delicious. Half hour later, we ordered lunch. A plate of delicious olives (complimentary), we ordered a beer, patatas bravas, Jamón, chorizo, lettuce salad, tomato bread and a clam. We enjoyed our lunch very much, service was excellent, and when given an opportunity to return to beautiful Barcelona, we'd love to come back.

Yelp
Love Spain! Great selections for brunch and at breakfast you can order anything on the menu, even a burger! Had the tuna panko Sando, the bread could of been toasted a bit more, it got soggy and maybe the lettuce in the sandwich was wilted, fried patty touching it too long? But enjoyable and bluefin I think since we're in Spain, can't go wrong The other dishes were perfect as well. Miss Barcelona already!

Yelp
Bomb ass brunch food in Barcelona! You know they're known for their cured meats, Jamon to be specific so I had to get something with ham for breakfast, lunch and dinner :) Came here since a friend was given the recommendation that it was so good, they ate here twice! All of us got egg dishes as well as the burrata. Everything was super fresh and the food also came out fairly quickly. The orange juice was the only meh thing on the menu. The orange juice was super sour and a bit bitter :( clearly not in season

Yelp
La Esquina really is located en la esquina. La Esquina meaning "The Corner" in Spanish. It was just mere steps away from our hotel and locals will tell you that this is the place to do breakfast/brunch. There is a country farm feel to the place, and immediately you get a sense of cozyness and relaxation despite the fact that more than likely it'll be pack-jammed full of people. For those of you traveling, I hate to say it but if you're lugging around your suitcase; its gonna be a tight fit. We were told by various people that the coffee here is superb but on the day we went, all of us had room temperature coffee that put all of us off. The orange juice however; freshly squeezed and very delicious. It's evident that attention to detail is given to the food. I was especially impressed with my moms dish. She ordered eggs, potatoes, local ham and the menu described truffles being in the dish. In the states when you read that on the menu more than likely you're either going to get truffle oil or salt, not the actual thing, but lo and behold; actual pulverized truffles in the dish and considering the price point it was excellent. I enjoyed everything I tried here even the simple fruit bowl which had very sweet and very fresh fruit. So despite the coffee hangup; I'd still recommend La Esquina as a food stop.

Yelp
Great breakfast and amazing people! If you want to stay away from all the tourist traps while you are in Barcelona, that's your destination. Fresh ingredients and good food. Highly recommended

Yelp
Me gusto el lugar para desayunar huevos con tostada de pan con tomate y jamón Serrano, a precio razonable, lo recomiendo sin duda

Yelp
This place is aesthetic and has really good food! My friends and I needed to eat lunch and this place was super close so we went here. We waited about 20-30 minutes to get seated since the place was packed. It was worth the wait in the humid heat. The place had a comfortable vibe and was cool inside for us to not be hot. Our server was very nice and helped us out in English. I ended up ordering a Spanish Breakfast. All of the food in the breakfast was served in a pan, so you feel extra fancy and photo ready. Best. Decision. For. Food. At. That. Moment. It came with toast and tomato sauce, sausages, eggs, ham or bacon (not sure what it was), potatoes, and extra bell pepper. Everything was delicious. The thing that threw me off but was also very much enjoyable was the sausage. It was a different texture from any other sausage I have tried. I was nice and chewy but also very tender. I was obsessed. That included with all the other flavors and textures that were on the skillet. My friend ordered a side of patatas bravas for us and it was amazing. The sauce was amazing and creamy and the potatoes were nice and chewy. This place had really good service and delicious food (a lot of the food was good because I also tried all of my friends food too and it was just as amazing as my Spanish Breakfast), not to mention it was air conditioned so we weren't burning up while eating. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in Spain or going to Spain.

Yelp
If you're deciding between a pastry at Starbucks (next door) or this place, go here! The eggs maya was my favorite. The shredded pork is so delicious. This dish is bursting with flavor. The scone was homemade and warm and delicious. It came with mascarpone and apricot marmalade. Orange juice tasted fresh! I would come back here for brunch and try more of their egg dishes. They have a lot of breakfast egg options. The vibe is coffee shop feels and it is great for a lazy Saturday or Sunday.

Yelp
La Esquina was one of the best places my family and I had breakfast at while visiting Barcelona. Their menu is definitely Americanized. We visited twice and the food, coffee, and service were excellent both times. I had the eggs benedict as well as the eggs estrellados and both dishes were excellent! If you are staying at the Hotel Pulitzer or Hotel Regina, this place is literally right around the corner. Give it a try!

Yelp
Nice restaurant. Barcelona is a magnificent city and this restaurant is in a very nice neighborhood. Nice personnel. Good quality food. Good for brunch.

Yelp
This was a great restaurant! The ambiance was nice, the restaurant was very clean, and the staff was friendly. They had a nice menu with fresh fruit juices and teas. They also had vegetarian options on the menu which was nice. I got the avocado toast with feta cheese and it was really good! They didn't skimp on the avocado and it was surprisingly filling for one piece of toast. The price was also reasonable. I would definitely go here again.

Yelp
Such a good breakfast that we will be returning tomorrow! We ordered two dishes to have half each. 1.the pancakes are amazing - possibly the best I've ever had. The mascarpone is such a great topping and the fruit it comes with was really good 2.had the fried egg sandwich- it comes with a little bit too much cheese , and maybe too many mushrooms but once I took out a bit of these it was really tasty. Really reasonable prices and the waitress was lively! And my favourite bit- it wasn't too crowded/noisy! 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Good breakfast and luncheon choice We ate at this restaurant at lunchtime and returned the next morning for breakfast. The prix fixe lunch was a good value that included a fabulous mango and coconut cold soup, very tasty chicken dish and a small pasta dish, along with wine and dessert for 16 Euros. Service was pleasant and efficient at the height of the Spanish "lunch hour". We returned the next morning for breakfast (which isn't served before 9 a.m.) and the ambiance reminded us of San Francisco with a lot of young attractive patrons bent over their laptops and phones. The luncheon crowd was more conventional. Poached eggs with avocado was delicious. Just off Placa de Catalunya.

Yelp
Rate as 4.5. Came here for breakfast on first day of vacation. We enjoyed all our breakfast items as well as their smoothies, juice, and Americano. Really enjoyed Eggs Estrella, Huervos Ranchos, Eggs w bacon on toast. Seems more locals here as well as some tourists. Good enough that we wanted to come back if we could.

Yelp
This place is right next door to a Starbucks and it's no contest. The coffee was excellent and the breakfast selections were equally great. The staff was very friendly and they all spoke English. We are glad we found this place!

Yelp
Very simple creative menu. The poached and scrambled eggs are delicious. The burgers are good. The place is small and very cozy. Understaffed when crowded but staff very friendly. Recommended

Yelp
How was I not aware of this fabulous restaurant until today?! The staff is friendly and bilingual, the food is creative and delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing with the dim light, and everything is cooked in the traditional kitchen but assembled in the opened kitchen! I had the lunch menu (€15) with carrot soup, oxtail with potato and couscous. All three dishes are assembled in one big plate. The carrot soup is creamy with a hint of orange flavor; the oxtail is flavorful with potatoes gnocchi; the couscous with nuts is refreshing. For dessert, I had a cafe con leche and honey lavender tart. I was amazed by the texture of the tart but the honey becomes too sweet after the third bite. This is my first time drinking coffee so can't give much opinions but it went in pretty well for me LOL. However, it is known for its coffee so definitely give it a try!

Yelp
Located right next to the Starbucks. This awesome restaurant is easily accessible via Metro or walking if you're anywhere near Placa Catalunya. The food is amazing - we had the bikini (must have!), chicken sandwich, meatball sandwich, and grilled veggies. Absolutely delightful. My mom had coffee and said it was incredible - definitely a must have if you go here. The owner is originally from England and is so kind and humble. We actually came here two days in a row because of the wonderful service and food - our servers, Lea and Merl, were lovely both days! We had to leave for Madrid the next day, but I'm still dreaming of the bikini sandwich I ate. Best ham and cheese I've ever had!

Yelp
We are Asian American, came in, was told there were no tables available in the back and we would need to sit at a dirty table near the door. The staff gave menus and water to a couple seated after us, and took their orders before even wiping our table clean. We didn't have our menus issued after 15 minutes of being ignored, so we left. Steer clear of this place, especially if you are a tourist.

Yelp
Best brunch we had in Barcelona! We got the tropical and green juice - tasted amazing and felt great afterwards. I got the eggs Benedict and I don't even love hollandaise sauce but theirs was delicious - so light and yummy. Husband got the scrambled eggs which they serve soft and the bacon ...also amazingly delicious for such a basic breakfast. Coffee met my coffee snob standards. Cute place with locals - would highly recommend.

Yelp
This place was walking distance from our hotel, so we thought we'd check it out. Very quaint little place, busy, farm house feel. I like their menu options where for a set price you choose a starter (soup, salad, etc) a main course and a side. Also comes with a (non-alcoholic) beverage. The food was prepared in front of you basically (you could watch the chef work) and it was very fresh! Had the polenta, pasta and veggies.

Weisin C.

Yelp
The Eggs Benedict is one of the best that I ever had in my life! The Hollandaise sauce is so smooth and delicious. The super fresh ham, eggs and bacon with the sweet soft and slightly KY crispy bread ate perfect together. My favourite brunch place in Barcelona! I will recommend Eggs Estrellados as well. The potatoes and eggs with truffle is super yummy!

Yelp
Great breakfast in Barcelona. The smoked salmon toast was fantastic; the bread was uniquely great. As was the ginger carrot juice. Great service. Wish they had the full brunch menu during the week (complete w/mimosas), but no complaints.

Gabby L.

Yelp
If I could give it 6 stars I would. The food is amazing and the service is wonderful. I haven't ever had breakfast so good. Would 100% reccomend!

Wiebke S.

Yelp
I love this place! The atmosphere is very charming and relaxing. Good coffee and food. I can recommend the Cesar salad. I will def go there again when I'm back in Barcelona. Staff is super friendly.

Cissy S.

Yelp
The staff was great, the fried egg sandwich was very tasty, and I enjoyed the Greek yogurt with granola (and asked for honey to go along).
