La Factoria Review - Old San Juan - San Juan - The Infatuation

"Dancing until someone says, “whoa, how is it after 2am?” is one of the best ways to experience the nightlife of Old San Juan, and La Factoria is where you should do it. There are six different bars inside, and each has its own menu and plays different music, including a dancehall that has live salsa on Sundays and Mondays. Start at the front, take a shot of tequila, and explore them all until it’s way past your bedtime." - Adriana Silva

You must come here if you’re in Puerto Rico. This is my second time in San Juan and I made it a point to come back to La Factoria. They have three different sections which all give off different vibes and the drinks are just amazing. It was my first time ordering food which was also so delicious. It’s a must try when in the area!

Google
I didn’t order any food. But the drinks are SOLID considering they have one of the best mixologists IN THE WORLD behind the bar. The salsa ATMOSPHERE IS WHERE YOU NEED TO BE IF YOU COME TO PR! Period. Full stop!

Mike Morgan

Google
The rum punch is the best I’ve ever had. Definitely one of the best bar programs anywhere. Go every day if you can.

Google
The different atmospheres are really nice and innovative but it’s to crowded

Yelp
During my first visit in 2021 I asked the bartender to make me an islandy drink with rum and it turned out great. That first bar has good vibes and great service. Cool spot to sit and have a few drinks. This bar is made up of 6. During my first visit got to see the first 2. The second one is a wine bar which is solid and whiter for a low key date. The other 4 open at different times but all are open at 11pm During my second visit I hit all the bars but mainly was in third the which is best one with live music. They had a live band with good music and everyone was dancing. 4th is a weird cave sort of dark. Then goes to 5th bar which may not even relate. The exit from that fifth bar is neat.

Yelp
La Factoria is on every list to visit when in PR, so we had to see what the hype was all about. This bar consists of 6 different rooms with a different vibe, but we only made my way through 3 of them since it was quite crowded on a Saturday night. We ended up at the second room that is one of the smaller ones. It was more quiet and chill, which I enjoyed. We were able to grab a bar stool as people were leaving and each enjoyed a cocktail. The bartender made me a Penicillin ($13), which was good. If you're looking for a fun spot to party, the music is blasting and drinks are flowing here.

Yelp
Carlos and the team have built something special here. It was delightful to drop back in on them after a few years. Paola was our bartender, and the way she cared for our afternoon crowd was impressive. All the staff had a great energy about them, it's beautiful to see. It also shows in the drinks: they have an excellent menu, informed by decades of experience and curiosity. There are lots of experiences to be had at this place - it's an institution for a reason. Show them some love, they're excellent people doing great work.

Yelp
Great vibe! Drinks were tasty and service was quick. Would recommend for a night out!

Yelp
Fun, artsy and laidback vibe located in old San Juan. The bartender was very friendly and made us an amazing cocktail with ginger. I don't recall the name but it was tasty. A good place to people watch sitting at the bar stools facing the window overlooking the busy sidewalks.

Yelp
Very fun cocktail bar club with multiple rooms weaving around the space. Different themes, salsa, EDM, etc. in each room. Went on Valentines night and people were wearing great outfits
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for a refreshing drink. Great place to rest between long touristy walks. Ordered the lavender mule - was refreshing. Got an espresso before facing the hot weather again. Service was efficient and friendly. Will come back at a later time and check out the other rooms and offerings. Love the rustic clout clean vibe

Yelp
One of the top bars in San Juan. At this point in time, it's number 18 in the world. Recommended by many uber drivers when we were traveling around the city. The vibes are unmatched. Multiple rooms to this very cool bar and. Huge area for salsa dancing.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW!! #1 for happy hour ... now we know why! There's actually 6 bars in 1 ... each with a different look and ambiance as well as varying drink menus. 1. Classy feel with bar, bistro tables and a couple of couches ... try the Pornstar Martini (comes with side shot of champagne) 2. Small quiet bar with wine cocktails ... chill feel especially with great A/C 3. Large mix use room with some hi-top tables for wine bar along with area for salsa dancing ... try the Champeta & Missionary (great bartender even walked over 4 waters to our table without us asking) 4. Dark interior room which was basically the entire dance floor playing loud techno music ... probably better late night (for the younger crowd) 5. Side room in hallway with just enough room for a small bar ... holding a private event but still got a pic 6. Last but not least ... more subdued local bar feel that exited to side street - which took you back to entrance of first bar Absolutely loved this place!! Next time ... we'll probably just start and end up here.

Yelp
High ceilings and raw vibes give way to well crafted and balanced cocktails and an ecclectic mix of music: salsa, 80s hits and rock and Espanol. Three different rooms - the warmest one, the less warm one and the air conditioned one. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon.... Friendly and courteous bar service. I would return for the evening vibes next time!

Yelp
My family and I spent Christmas in Puerto Rico and had a blast at La Facroria!! My nephew owns Prestige Window Tinting. WORLD WIDE in PR

Yelp
What a cool spot to visit for drinks!! It's basically broken up into different bar/lounge areas. The first is laid back, with classic lounge vibes including bar, couches, and small private seating areas. The next one is narrow bar seating - a little more up beat. Then you have the next areas - a little louder, more open - less seating, set up for dancing. And then in back the "red room" has a club atmosphere where you can't even hear yourself think lol We loved it though. The place has so much character and old time feel to it. The drinks are amazing! Prices are what you'd expect for an upscale bar with exceptional baristas. Perfect place to hang out with a group of friends for drinks. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
La Factoria is a must visit in San Juan! It has an incredible atmosphere and amazing cocktails. It is really cool that there are so many different rooms, depending on what your mood is you could go hang in the salsa room or you could go hang in the cocktail lounge! I didn't have any food as we only went to experience the bar and cocktails. But I would highly suggest this place to anyone visiting. My biggest advice would to go after dinnertime as all the rooms aren't always open during the earlier hours!
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
Awesome spot for signature cocktails. It's many (5-6?) bars in one, each connected by a hallway area. Fun, lively, and a great place to to go out.
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
I came here with a friend and we absolutely loved this bar! It had a hidden hallway behind the bar where there are more areas to the bar. Each section of the bar had a different vibe. There was one section that was just a normal bar, a section with a DJ playing hip hop/techno, and another section that had a DJ playing Spanish music and everyone dancing. The cocktails were cheap and the vibe was just so fun. Service was very prompt too. I would definitely come back if I'm in San Juan again!

Yelp
Really cool vibe in old town San Juan. Multiple different bar areas. Can get busy, good mix of locals and visitors...
google avatar

Aidilyn G.

Yelp
La Factoría is a must visit place when visiting San Juan. The drinks were so good and the bartenders were so fun and easy to talk to! Even on a slow Thursday afternoon they made us feel so welcome. We can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Latrice A.

Yelp
We enjoyed our time here. This was one of a popular place told to us by the locals and on social media is so laid back. Kind of speech. Easy vibes All ethnic groups seem to be welcome and the music buried in different rooms or salsa room. What kind of a R&B and pop when I was there on my visit. My daughter and I enjoyed a lavender drink which was really different. No cover charges in any of the clubs or lounges which is great and everyone was nice
google avatar

Giselle G.

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday night and I did not like it. Everyone raves about this place but I am not sure if I missed something. I had one drink and this place looked a bit dirty to me. I know they have different rooms and it has an old building vibe but I did not enjoy it. The different rooms were interesting and they had live music. The bartender was ok, my drink was not memorable and neither was the service. I did not eat there and only had one drink. I came with great expectations so for me it was a big let down. I am willing to try it again; if I'm in the neighborhood maybe it was an off day.
google avatar

Erica D.

Yelp
Absolutely a destination for drinking but also for just relaxing and trying some interesting stuff. No matter what time of day or night you arrive, there's something for you. Try each bar and you'll have a blast! Can't wait to return...
google avatar

Yelp
So many cool rooms to wander into!!! What a vibe! We walked in and were shocked the areas just kept going and going. There was a different style of music and ambiance going on in each room. We found a Latin room where there was a live band, salsa dancing and lots of people. We went into the R&B area which was cute and small like a mini lounge/ bar room, low hip hop and r&b playing l. Craft cocktails and a smaller crowd. Seats are bar and along the wall. This was our favorite room. We also enjoyed the techno room which was dark but had red led lights. A larger space, less crowded than the Latin room, but a vibe l. We rocked out and tried some local brews in this room. This spot is cool and low key a major win because you get a little of everything. If you are like us and out with a group this is the perfect spot to try out. They have something for everyone!!
google avatar

Yelp
When in Old San Juan, La Factoría is THE place to stop and enjoy a refreshing drink while exploring the Spanish Colonial Fortress and unique streets or some delicious bites in the evening followed by dancing to some great music. Lavender Mule 10/10 Thanks to the wonderful bartender who was inviting and knowledgeable about the drinks
google avatar

Emma D.

Yelp
This is an absolute must when in Old San Juan! With tons of signature cocktails, it was hard to choose but we enjoyed the lavender mule the most. The bartenders at each of the different bars were all attentive even though it was packed. The very back had a live band which created a fun, dance friendly atmosphere for the night.
google avatar

Erika R.

Yelp
Great drinks during the day time, we went in about 3-4pm and had a cocktail. I tried the pina colada and a mojito, both were amazing. The factoría has a couple of different spaces in the back that open up during the night, great ambiance.
google avatar

Yash T.

Yelp
TLDR: Amazing ambiance, great drinks and wonderful servers! LA Factoria is a must visit place while in Old San Juan. Famous for being on the music video Despacito, this bar really lives up to the hype. The ambience is wonderful and there are more than one bar in this setting and you can experience different settings and get comfortable in anyone depending on your mood for the night. Their drinks are really good and so is their food. Their smoky old fashioned and fish tacos were amazing!
google avatar

Jeanelle W.

Yelp
La factoría was one of the spots recommended by locals and my salsa instructor. We came here for drinks and to put our salsa lesson to the test. There are three different rooms to choose from and we spent the majority of our time in the second room with the live band. Service at the bar was relatively quick and the bartender made a decent old fashioned. I honestly had no expectations, so it was a nice experience but not somewhere I would return.
google avatar

Sheridan S.

Yelp
Worth the stop if you're in old San Juan - the lavender mule was light, unique, and refreshingly delicious, but the standout for both of us was the pornstar martini, which was a perfectly balanced blend of sweet passionfruit, acidic lime, and warm vanilla. We went during the day, so we didn't get the full multi-bar experience, but we would definitely come back on a Saturday night!!!
google avatar

Rita O.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday night. The ambience was bomb, the drinks were fantastic, and our bartender was the best. I can't rave enough about this place. The price is higher than I expected but still aligned with the PR prices.
google avatar

Woody H.

Yelp
Great cocktail bar in Old San Juan RC. Definitely worth a stop. Friendly staff even when they are busy.
google avatar

Sydney W.

Yelp
Although the electricity was off for our experience, the cocktails were lights ON. Everyone must stop here for a cocktail or two. I wish we could have experienced it with the lights on but it was an intimate experience regardless.
google avatar

Alejandra C.

Yelp
google avatar

Ryan V.

Yelp
My experience at La Factoria was one of the highlights of my trip in PR. The drinks are so well thought out and delicious. I don't think you'll pick a wrong cocktail so go with your gut. The staff is class without being pretentious. They were so courteous and knowledgable. The vibe inside was very cozy but cool and with the windows open letting in a breeze? I could've stayed there all night. Didn't get a chance to check out the back room (def speakeasy vibes) but heard it's an amazing place to go dancing. Sit at the bar if you have a chance! Not only is it great place to get a view of the craftsmanship these bartenders are putting in, but also those who come here are so friendly! Was able to talk with locals and travelers. Cant recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Doreen A.

Yelp
Setup a series of places to stop by for a cocktail and tapas while in port on a cruise / this was out first stop They DO NOT have any food available - so ignore the food menu on their website As for cocktails and 6 bars in a horseshoe shape --- Scratch that too The first bar & 2nd room were open and serving There were barriers beyond the 2nd bar area Stop by for a cocktail / lavender mule was delicious but nothing more than that

Leigh Anne P.

Yelp
The local bar is an awesome spot to stop at in San Juan. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was awesome!
google avatar

Rebekah M.

Yelp
The vibe changes with every room you enter and there is something wonderful about that. Spectacular and creative cocktails plus great music. Always worth entering for a good time!

Eric D.

Yelp
Service was great I really enjoyed the music and atmosphere .. will come back on the next trip
google avatar

Amberly S.

Yelp
I did not try any food but the service at the bar was great and the ambiance was so fun and cute!! Cannot wait to come back!! Definitely recommend for tourists!
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
One of my favorite bars I've been to with one of the best espresso martinis and a new experience through every door. Loved watching the salsa dancers and also having an intimate cocktail in their smallest bar. Bartenders all fantastic with their drink making skills and theatrics

Stephenie H.

Yelp
A favorite in San Juan that we use to rate other bars. Their cocktails are top notch but even more impressive are their mocktails that aren't too sweet. It's going to be harder to visit now that we have a baby, but we will find a way!
google avatar

Isabella P.

Yelp
La Factoría is definitely worth stopping at! I got the lavender mule and it was really tasty. This place is quite deceiving and looks like it's just a chill one room bar. When you walk past the bar there is a 2nd room that feels like a speakeasy, keep going and there's a 3rd room for salsa/bachata, and then there's a 4th room that feels like a club and played electronic music.
google avatar

A M.

Yelp
It is no wonder why this place is a top bar in the world! I went here at least 3 times on my trip to PR, the drinks are hot, the bars within the bars all have their own theme and bartenders are so knowledgeable and do an outstanding job at drinks. They are so well crafted. The ambiance, well it is what you want to see in PR...live local music, dancing and over all it is an amazing place. A must go if you are in Puerto Rico. If you didn't go to La Factoria on your trip to Puerto Rico, did you even go to Puerto Rico? NO! Put this on top of your list! Wepa!
google avatar

Averrell H.

Yelp
So this place had to be one of the most interesting places we visited while in Puerto Rico. To start let's just say we had such a good time I was glad we were in walking distance of our air bnb. The coolest thing about this place is that the vibes change in every room. It goes from a cocktail bar setting to a dive bar setting to a bar with dance floor and I'm not even joking it goes to a bar that you feel like your in a cave or a basement of some sort. The music changes in each setting as well but I believe menu stays the same except for maybe 1 or 2 drinks. This place was definitely unique and a shock to the visual senses.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Not sure what the hype is all about. Maybe I expected too much. Pretty dingy. Lots of rooms to stand around in and do nothing.
google avatar

Lu C.

Yelp
This place has multiple rooms that you can hang out in, so it's deceptively bigger than you'd think. Drinks are pretty good (their espresso martini is really good!) but some of their fruity drinks aren't as great. Also the music video for despacito was apparently filmed here!
google avatar

Jesse V.

Yelp
This was a cool place to go to in Old San Juan. It's 3 bars in one. 2 small sections of bars and then the 3rd section is playing salsa and a dance floor to salsa all night if you want to. You can definitely come here for drinks, cocktails and bites. It was a fun vibe and fun night for dancing as it was packed. If it's a hot night like when I went, you will be sweating if you're dancing as I think there is no AC. They do have little windows open where you can see outside and outside in. If you stand by it, you get a nice little breeze. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.
google avatar

Yosef M.

Yelp
The place here is one hidden gem for sure. The reason I say that is because it is literally 5 different bars inside this place, so find the hidden doors and have a blast! Tons of amazing music being played in each room, and each has a different vibe. People are dancing all over the place and drinks are strong and tasty lol. I think my favorite is the live bar with live music , it was tons of people doing the salsa!
google avatar

Mustafa S.

Yelp
needed a light refreshment and their Lavender Mule was perfect! highly recommend. really chill place and the bartender was super nice.
google avatar

Juliet H.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. What a vibe! It's a bar, or 3 bars actually, with killer food. The trip to La Factoria did not disappoint. The different rooms with different aesthetics (and great music to boot) was a real treat. The bartenders are attentive, friendly, and pointed me in the right direction. Those pork empanadas are to die for, and they're still in my dreams! OMG, La Factoria is the spot. Please take me back!
google avatar

Ting Z.

Yelp
All the experience of bar hopping without having to leave the bar! They advertise 6 different bars that you walk through to get through-- we were only able to find 5 of them, of which one (La Cubanita) we had to go through a separate entrance outside to get to. Could not find the final bar for the life of us. Also I saw some previous reviews mentioning there being an upstairs, which we also could not find. Now onto the drinks-- highly recommend the Lavender Mule, which is their most popular drink for a reason. Also ordered a Champita, which was decent. Prices are great, averaged like $10 a cocktail which for the quality you're getting is a fantastic deal.
