The Best Croissants In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Rotund on the outside and sporting almost freakishly symmetrical swirls inside, the croissants at this humble Mercer Island shop have serious “pleasure to have in class” energy. We could admire them all day, and we have. Sure, the butteriness hides a bit (come on out, buddy), but there’s still a pleasant fermented tang to each bite, which would get along well with dollops of berry jam." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente

La Fete Patisserie is the croissant HQ of Mercer Island - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Mercer Island's humble shop specializes in French pastries, particularly croissants at that have serious “pleasure to have in class” energy. What an amazing cute little place with one of the best French patisserie I have had in Seattle area ❤️🫶 absolutely cozy, super friendly staff! The owner was such a delight and bringing out fresh baked patisserie the entire time. We will definitely be coming back, but we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast brioche, the Chev and fig brioche and the pain au chocolat 🤤

Google
One of my favorite spots in Seattle! From their matcha croissants to a wide range of delicious treats, I am always happily surprised by my experience here. The owner Kristen takes the special care to make their pastries and it's felt through the experience. I will definitely be back!

Google
Wonderful experience! The pastries were divine. This place is usually packed and it’s best to get there early. The price is a little high in comparison to other bakery’s on Mercer island, however, never the less they have very inquire fresh pastries and offer coffee as well :)

Google
I had a very nice meal here with a friend. The coffee is fantastic, very rich and bold more Italian style. The Food is so visually beautiful and taste. Good too. They have stuff of all sizes both savory and sweet. They’re seating inside and outside of the bathroom is nice and clean. The staff is very helpful and explaining what things were.

Google
Their pastries and sandwich are very good! However the indoor seatings are very limited, so be prepared to wait for a seat or take it away. Also they only had plastic utensils when we were there. But the food made up for it all!

Google
Exquisite. Having spent time in the south of France and in Paris I can tell you without a doubt her croissants are equivalent with the Best. I first met the owner during the pandemic and it was challenging because it was hard to get workers during that period and this is a new business and a very chic little corner shop on Mercer Island. But to see the Joy on the owners face as she prepared the croissants you knew she’d love what she’s doing. She’s been trained by the Best. I believe she said France And it shows. She’s not only an incredible patisserie chef but she’s also an artist because the designs like the Matcha croissant is amazing. It’s Art don’t hesitate. I also like the sandwiches of course you have to get them when they’re incredibly fresh, but I like a good pate sandwich. I haven’t had one since Paris with a fresh banquette.

Google
Had the best saturday morning here! The coffee was just right, and the lemon croissant was perfectly flaky and delicious. The veg baguette was incredibly fresh, and the fig chèvre brioche totally blew us away—so, so good. Everything tasted fresh and felt made with love. The café had a cozy feel and that lovely neighborhood charm. Definitely my new go-to spot for the upcoming summer.

Google
Loved the creme brulee super rich and creamy and the added sugar on top was a perfect coating. The latte was a bit to strong for me since I'm more of a sweeter drink person but other than that it's really good glad i tried

Yelp
I always see this place on here and have been wanting to try it! Stopped in around 9:30 to check it out and was impressed with how many different items they have! I only tried the raspberry chocolate croissant which was tasty, but wish I would've tried a few more. I got an herbal tea and love that it wasn't just a stash or common brand. Definitely will be back to try more of the treats! The staff was all super nice and the decor was super cute! They also have a nice seating area outside for warmer days!

Yelp
I haven't been back in so long and I can say they are still as good. I came around 10am and they still had everything so I got the lemon meringue croissant and the blue London pastry. Both were really good in their own way. The meringue croissant was flavorful, creamy and soft while the blue London had a slight crisp and full of Earl grey flavor. Price is reasonable now compared to everything else haha The lady helping me was nice. The place is small but they do have seatings outside. Definitely will be back again in the near future

Yelp
Adorable French cafe with authentic croissants and pastries. Best croissant in the Seattle area. The pain au chocolat is made with Valrhona chocolate which is next level! I paired it with a latte which was made with double shot of Dancing Goats coffee. They have about a dozen small tables for you to sit and enjoy your coffee. They have sandwiches too for those who have a savory palette.

Yelp
Cute little bakery on Mercer Island! Came to pick up some pastries and ended up grabbing their matcha croissant, chocolate bouchon, pate sandwich, and orange brioche bread for about $30. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, really loved the pastries from this bakery! Would come again for more!

Yelp
Stopped in here for a latte and a GIANT soft fluffy chocolate croissant. I sat inside though it was a lovely day to utilize their outside seating area. Everything on display looked delicious! I was able to order, find a table and be served promptly. I also grabbed a brie, fig and arugula sandwich on rustic bread to eat later (it was great!). A very cute spot and I will be back for more baked goods!!

Yelp
Coffee was good. Staff nice. I wish the pastries were a little more traditional but nothing is bad.

Yelp
Delicious! We stopped by on a Sunday morning and service was fantastic! We came primary for a quick brunch and were delightfully surprised. We ordered the matcha mascarpone croissant, the blue of London croissant, espresso con panna, and cappuccino. The matcha croissant was filled with a lovely matcha cream filling that was not too sweet and the blue of London croissant had a strong earl grey flavor which we loved. Service was quick and our barista was kind enough to bring our drinks outside. The only down side is the store can get a little crowded due to its size however these treats are worth it!

Yelp
I always wanted to try out this place, and I finally came here!! I came here to meet a friend on a Friday afternoon in summer. Not too many people were there. There were indoor seats and also outdoor seats. It was hot, so I chose to sit inside. They had baguette sandwiches and patisseries. I ordered a lemon tart and a cappuccino. My friend later arrived, and she ordered a sandwich and a coffee. The indoor seating area reminded me of the cafés in Paris. Not spacious, more cozy feeling. Most patrons chose to sit outside for some reason, so my friend and I were mostly the only patrons in the afternoon. The service was okay. It was self service, so you order at the counter and then pick up your own order. I didn't expect them to do anything further, but the staff was friendly and smiley. The lemon tart was very delicious. It wasn't too sweet, so if it were cheaper, I probably could have got a few more. The cappuccino had a strong milk flavor that I prefer. My friend and I talked for hours here until they closed. The staff told us that they were closing and suggested us to sit outdoors. The outdoor seating was open to patrons even after they closed. The pricing was a bit high, but overall the quality of drink and food was good. I would like to come back again!

Yelp
La Fête is one of the few authentic French bakeries on the Eastside (they are so much better than The French Bakery or Crumble & Flake). They don't have wide selection, but they do rotate their offerings often. This past visit, my family got the MATCHA MASCARPONE CROISSANT, the ORANGE BRIOCHE, and the CINNAMON RAISIN SWIRL. Pastries range between $6-$9. The MATCHA MASCARPONE CROISSANT was fantastic! The outside was beautifully laminated with green matcha (and thus super shiny and crunchy)! The bread was super flaky and had a wonderful creamy matcha mascarpone cheese filling that wasn't too sweet and had strong green tea flavor. I would definitely recommend getting this one if they have it on their menu. The ORANGE BRIOCHE is our go-to pastry when we come here. The bread is super soft and chewy and is full of zesty orange rind and flavor. The CINNAMON RAISIN SWIRL was decent too, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's flaky and has lots of chewy sweet raisins- perfect for paring with coffee! Speaking of coffee, we also got a small cold brew which was smooth, but overpriced as 3/4 of it was ice. Seating is tight here, so I recommend taking your pastries to go. The interior is clean and modern though. Service was good- no complaints here. They serve you on the spot (minus coffee which takes 5 min max). Overall: 4.5/5 for food & coffee, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere.

Yelp
A great place to treat yo self! How can you go wrong with anything with high amounts of French butter? They have some great croissants here. Service is easy, order at the counter. Butter croissant: really great texture, light and airy with the perfect crisp on the outside Ham and cheese croissant: they lay them out on a heating plate so when you eat it it's the perfect temperature. A bit of a splurge for a smaller croissant for a little less than $7. All components are spot on! Very good! Apricot pastry: the texture was not for me, but the taste was great

Yelp
A perfect French bakery/cafe that was easy to find. Initially, I was a bit bummed because I came in a bit earlier for their infamous matcha croissant but was told they wouldn't be ready for another 30mins to an hour. They were super apologetic about it and I understood and luckily today was a day that I could go back and pick up a couple. In the meantime, I wanted to get a few other items and the pastry case was filled with so many delectable items that it was hard to choose a close second. I got the almond croissant, chocolate hazelnut croissant and the raspberry croissant. These were all for coworkers but I was told they were absolutely delicious. I went back for the matcha and absolutely loved it. It's not a super strong matcha taste and the filling was light and airy.

Yelp
I have visited here before with my girlfriend but most recently visited with my husband. We ordered a couple baguette sandwiches. I ordered a vanilla latte and my husband ordered a mocha latte. The coffee is smooth, not bitter but also more milk than my husband prefers. You order at the counter and then they will call out your name when your coffee and food are ready for pick up. I had the tomato, mozzarella and pesto sandwich and my husband ordered the ham and cheese. I enjoyed my sandwich very much but I found the ham and cheese to be very dry. The bread exterior is crisp and almost too hard for my personal liking but at least it was fresh. We enjoyed a nice sunny morning on their outdoor patio. We will definitely be back to try other pastries and sandwiches. Cute little shop and love supporting local small business owners.

Yelp
The pastries are excellent--crispy, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Each one has a distinct taste, providing a nice variety.

Yelp
Fantastic French cafe with fresh made pastries and sandwiches. The Nutella croissant was fresh out of the oven and amazing. The baguette sandwiches are simple but good if you're looking for a light lunch. Service was friendly and street parking was easy. They have seating indoor and outdoor. Casual spot with very high quality.

Yelp
This place has one of the best pastry that I have had in so long. It's located right off of 28th street in Mercer island, right across the street from Starbucks. Their croissant is out of this world, I had the raspberry and almond one and it was amazing. The place is tiny but I think it can sit about 10 people in my estimation but I might be wrong and also worth checking their hours as they might only be open for breakfast. They were very friendly and took their time to explain about their pastry and it seems like they have mastered the art of croissant. The only downside is that it's a bit pricy but then again, everything in Mercer island is expensive so if you are looking for an amazing sweets in the morning, give them a try.
google avatar

Vanessa D.

Yelp
The latte was perfection! I will definitely be back for more and to try some of the pastries. My only wish is that they had public WiFi.
google avatar

Fenny C.

Yelp
Looks at those beautiful pastries!! Too beautiful to eat. My first time here, so I bought the matcha mascarpone croissant, raisin, pain au chocolat et framboise. If you plan to go places after, make sure you bring a cooler to keep the matcha mascapone cold. I love the croissant, not too sweet, crispy on the outside, nice moist inside, not too buttery. Will definitely come back for more. The place is clean and chic. Good for hang out with couple of your friends, not a big group. The place is pretty small inside. Few tables and chairs, but they have extra seating area outside. The lady that was serving was nice. Parking is free for 2 hours, not a whole of of parking space, but I guess you can go for street parking and walk a block or two.
google avatar

Naomi J.

Yelp
I'd recommended this patisserie highly, even though it is more expensive than equally delicious patisseries in Seattle (a plain croissant is $4.50 and the framboise croissant was $7.50). They don't have many options, but everything looked great and I did loved the orange brioche and the Nutella croissant!
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
This place is so delicious. I got the chocolate raspberry croissant and the matcha croissant and would honestly get both again. Can't wait to return!
google avatar

Sean Y.

Yelp
Fresh coffee and pastries served here, feeling like a hidden gem in town. Such quality pastries but not at all. Unfortunately they don't have Wi-Fi otherwise it's a good place to do some work here. Place is clean and a bit small, seems the team cares about the details. Presentation, cleanses, personal hygiene and dressed properly. But the price is bit higher than average. Can return again.

Yelp
Love this cool place Love the taste of the Matcha Croissant Friendly employees Highly recommend for people who love croissants.

Yelp
I wanted some time with myself and wanted an excuse to go to Mercer, so I found this patisserie on Yelp and ran here. The staff were quite friendly when I walked in! I opted for a croissant and a flat white, and decided to eat on their patio and people watch (though on a Thursday morning, the people watching was limited). As soon as I ripped the first piece, crumbs flew everywhere and I knew that I was in for a treat. This croissant exceeded my expectations! I think the last time I had a croissant that delicious was in Paris. I ended up getting one for my partner because he loves butter croissants and he deserved to try this. (Yes, I ran back with a croissant in tow.) When I paid for his croissant, the barista told me that the head baker/owner studied in France and learned how to bake croissants there. And that, right there, is why these are so good. The flat white was tasty, but I'm still thinking about the croissant. And I will likely go back there.

Rick S.

Yelp
Great place, great food, great service. The assortment of treats was amazing and Kelly at the register was super nice. They care about the experience customers have in their restaurant and it shows. Worth the effort to go if anywhere near.
google avatar

Jonelle T.

Yelp
I love this little neighborhood French patisserie! Their croissants are buttery, flakey perfection. My favorites are the ham & cheese croissant, pain au chocolat and the pain aux raisin. The employees are always friendly and it's a great place to start your day.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
Food. The almond croissant was decent with good almond paste inside. Can be a little fluffier. The raspberry chocolate croissant pain au chocolate framboise was amazing with also a beautiful presentation. Drink. Flat white was a little bitter but cappuccino was good. Looking forward to experiencing it again when they transition out of paper cups and plates. Ambience was quite nice. No WiFi. Service. French friendly.

Yelp
A quaint coffee shop in Mercer Island where you get the best lattes and croissants. Stopped by this am to get my Latte, I picked Hazelnut syrup and it was so good. They have a variety of drinks- coffee and tea. There are lot of options along with croissants like tarts, exclairs and pastries too.
google avatar

Adelie S.

Yelp
Very cute little cafe with beautiful looking pastries. Seating is limited so just be aware! By the time we arrived in the late afternoon, there weren't many pastry choices left but we did enjoy the chocolate hazelnut croissant and crème brûlée that we ordered. Prices are on the high side (some cost almost $10!) but they do offer high quality so I'd be ok to splurge every now and then. Not a cafe that I can frequent often because of the high price point though. Will be back to try the other pastries in future, especially that matcha croissant that I've heard people rave about.

Yelp
Stopped by on a random Wednesday morning to grab a coffee and couldn't help but indulge in some delicious treats. Food/pastries we tried: 1. Orange confite brioche - loved this. Baked to perfection and topped with sugar crystals. Not overly sweet, just the right hint of sweetness and orange coming through. 2. Financier - moist, delicate and delicious. Had a filling in it (apricot maybe?) and goes really well with a nice cup of tea. 3. The chocolate tart - rich and creamy dark chocolate filling in a solid tart shell. 4. My husband had the jambon croissant warmed up and he really enjoyed it. Flaky and delicious. They also had some good looking savory sandwiches for an easy lunch. For drinks, I had a hazelnut latte and my husband had the mocha - both made well. Ambience is nice, good seating in and out. A little expensive but good quality. We took our items to go and the service was pleasant and quick.

Sophia V.

Yelp
I went there for a coffee date and was surprisingly disappointed. The food was great, I got a chocolate croissant and a coffee. The thing that really caught me off guard though was the professionalism of the owner. I think she was the owner anyway, she was extremely rude to her employees, yelling at them in front of customers and overall made the entire ambiance of the bakery uncomfortable to be in. Which is sad because this bakery is really cute, just wish there was more professionalism behind the counter.

alayne s.

Yelp
La Fete literally has the most outstanding croissants and I'm talking competitively with France.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
This is my friend's favorite bakery on Mercer Island and since her husband is French, she knows her stuff! I stopped by here to get a birthday gift card for my friend and figured I'd try some pastries too. I had the pain au chocolat, which I thought was Ok. The pastry was very well done, but this would've been better if it was warm / fresh. My friend said to try to get here before 12pm as they can sell out quickly. I got my pastries around 1230. The knockout was the Gourmandise framboise. The combination of the pistachio, lemon and raspberry flavors was wonderful, all on top of croissant dough. My friend says they import all their ingredients from France and I can believe it. All the pastry packaging and cups are compostable which is great to see. Right now their only seating is outdoors. I also saw dogs being permitted to come into the cafe, yay!
google avatar

Tani S.

Yelp
They are so incredibly friendly each time I've stopped by. This has now become one of my favorite spots to head for a weekend latte with cardamom syrup. Today when I dropped in they had their windows open and wish I could have lingered a bit instead of continuing with my day of errands. Their croissants both plain and chocolate are excellent and baked in house.
google avatar

Ben R.

Yelp
Great baguette sandwiches and small selection of pastries. Nice atmosphere, five tables inside.

Lauren A.

Yelp
The best bakery in the greater area, food-wise. The cafe seating area is on the smaller side, so be prepared to take your baked goods to go. I had to take a star off because their prices are exorbitantly high. I would come here more often even if they only went down 10%, but as it stands, it has to be an infrequent visit.
google avatar

Kathryn Y.

Yelp
Delicious treats! Drinks made to order and so good! Everything freshly baked and oh sooo good. Today I chose a lemon meringue tart. My daughter wanted a chocolate croissant so, she got a chocolate croissant. Can't wait to try it for breakfast or later tonight. Next visit, a sandwich. Perfect for picnics. Plenty of street parking too. Happy Yelping

Yan Z.

Yelp
Stopped by here around 10 this morning for the first time. Was a chilly but nice day. Didn't realize just how busy this place gets, also the parking lot is horrendous. So you'll most likely need to find street parking. Decently long line, about 10-15 minute wait. They were all out of the jambon beurre sandwich. They had most of the other pastries we wanted. We got the last ham and cheeses croissant, which my toddler enjoyed. The matcha croissant was tasty but very messy. Also a bit hard to share. Not a lot of indoor seating and outdoor seating is tough if it's windy as all the pastry bags start to fly away. The pesto caprese sandwich was ok. The bread was too tough for my husband and I and kind of cut the sides of my mouth. I'd probably come back right at opening at 7 am if I want to avoid the parking cluster. I also got my little brother 3 pastries to go and hope he enjoys it. We spent $56 for a total of 5 kinds of croissants, 1canele, 1 sandwich and an 8 oz americano. Pricey for sure, but at least no tax is charged on the pastries, only the sandwich and coffee.
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
Delicious pastries! Not a huge selection, but every one of them is beautiful. Will return to try coffee next time! Great customer service.
google avatar

Ivy Z.

Yelp
It's a cute little shop on Mercer Island. The staff was really patient and gave us great recommendations. We got the Brioche Fig and Cheese. This was creamy, savory, and sweet. I would definitely recommend the matcha croissant. The cold brew and americano were ok.

Yelp
Local spot on Mercer Island, right in the middle of the main drag....where I had to go. We came here a few times while in the area, so we decided to get some breakfast. We went there on the early side of the morning, so there wasn't much of a line. Nice looking spot with some outside patio seating. Not a whole lot of selections but decent amount. We decided to get the breakfast brioche, the fig & cheese brioche, chocolate croissant and a few coffees. When we went, be sure to ask for cutlery, extra napkins and any additions you need for your coffee. All was ok to me and we enjoyed our breakfast and finished our selections. More mature flavors rather than being on the kid friendly side....if you got kids. Prices are on the higher side but we expected that being a patisserie franchaise type of spot. Staff was friendly and worked hard to get your order all fixed up. Glad we stopped by to check out rather than going to da'bucks across the street.
google avatar

Yelp
What an amazing local find! This French cafe has authentic french baked goods and baguette sandwiches. Their crossaunt is THE BEST crossaunt I've EVER had. If you stop by, try the She for Her tea. It's so decadent! Sitting at the cute patio outside, sipping a drink and munching on a baguette sandwich, while french music is flowing from the inside, is the closest you can get to feeling like you are in Paris in the middle of Mercer Island. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Stan L.

Yelp
Good food but Incredibly expensive. Just can't do this anymore. A couple pastries and a couple cups of coffee will send your bill over $30 and you have to stare at the "tip" screen even when you are taking it to go. No more. Time to fight back...
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
All of these stars are for the Almond Croissant. The brioche with bacon and egg wold have been over cooked but delicious if heated. Quality coffee. Get the almond croissant. Period. We are outside and I would have bought more to take home Had there been more to choose from like a cookie or slice of cake. I don't blame them for a small selection, what they did, they did well. It would be hard to buy one of their sandwiches with homegrown so close, but I may try one. Any suggestions on which one I should try? Oh, the coffee is yummy and strong, the kind of buzzy head I only get at Philz Coffee in California. Two thumbs up for that punch in the adrenaline face.

A B.

Yelp
Nice, but small--definitely not a place to hang out for long. Some baked items are good, but the sandwiches are disappointing. The baguettes aren't fresh, making the sandwiches hard to eat. Overall, it's expensive for the value offered.
google avatar

Marna K.

Yelp
A great spot for coffee/tea and a delightful pastry! Several types if croissants and desserts with coffee and tea as well. A nice stop if you've just been at Luther Burbank park or want to take some snacks over with you.

Yelp
Incroyable et très délicieux!!! Been looking for an authentic French bakery for a while! Have been missing my chocolatines aka Pain au Chocolat in everywhere but the southwest of France! It was flakey, it was buttery, it was perfect! Prices are reasonable and the croissants deliver ! The taste to cost ratio is high! They have not been open long so get down there to support this awesome gem!!
google avatar

Yelp
La Fête (meaning The Party) bienvenu tout le monde. If you want to taste QUALITY and AUTHENTIC French pastries Andy coffee, THIS IS YOUR PLACE. We came in a Sunday at noon and it was á lovely day to eat our goodies outdoors. They have outdoor tables just a few but enough to accommodate their customers. Specially In COVID times to everyone like to dine in. They have a limited variety of pastries BUT we don't need more, they have sweet and savory pastries, and each of them is guaranteed. you're gonna like it. Tous sont si délicieux!!! Besides the hot and cold coffees, they also have st peregrino and cold-pressed nectars. I like that they're keeping the authentic French style. Parking space is also limited but we found easily a place to park (2hr limited) Bon appétit !!!!
google avatar

Brittany W.

Yelp
This cute little French bakery opened where the old I Love Pho was located, so there's plenty of parking. The kitchen and pastry case/counter take up the majority of the interior, so it doesn't feel like a place designed to sit and stay awhile. There is some outdoor seating, but it's limited. Also, I came here on a rare dry fall day and sat outside with two friends....and both got pooped on by a bird that was in the tree overhead. Luckily their food was spared, but it didn't make for a great dining experience. I ordered an almond croissant, a bag of chouquettes and a cappuccino. The croissant was a little harder/crustier than I prefer, but I did overhear someone else ask for theirs heated, so I may try that next time. The chouquettes were delicious and so hard to eat just one. There wasn't a really large selection of items, but it does seem like what they have is good/works well. Will definitely come back (but will take to go and not stay).
google avatar

Nina G.

Yelp
In general baked goods and I are really really good friends so it doesn't take a lot to impress me on pastries. But I will say the toasted almonds make all the difference in a Croissant aux amandes so that a good choice. A tad too much filling for my taste and I noticed that my friend had taken a bit out too by eating around the outside. I don't even know how to accurately describe the Gougères. They said it was French street food however my friend who had lived in France said that she never had or seen it when she lived there so I don't know. They were not at all what I expected. They don't provide a hearty satisfying bite. They're verrry light (I thought I'd squish it as I lifted it up :). I was still figuring out how they tasted but boom they were gone. They are served in a cone and handed to you till you pay. Similar to an ice cream shop, perhaps they could benefit from having a stand for the "cones" so that the customer can pay comfortably. It's a pretty tight space inside so it gets pretty busy and I felt pretty rushed to make a decision because people start gathering outside. The bakery does have a nice seating area outside however it's not facing sun so it gets pretty chilly but they said they're working on getting a heat lamp out there in order to make it warm for people to enjoy the outdoor seating.

Yelp
Tasty selections of pastries. Helpful and friendly staffs. The place gets busy and packed with people quickly. I didn't get a chance to ask, but I was hoping there are allergies aware and dairy-free pastries that I can share this wonderful find with more people.
