La Finestra in Cucina

"You’d never guess but from 1918-1945, this lovely restaurant with its red-brick vaulted ceiling was an Alfa Romeo showroom! Expect rustic Italian dishes, an extensive selection of daily specials and fine Italian wines – and be sure to stop off for some treats from their neighbouring shop." - Michelin Inspector

This is one of the best restaurants in the world and certainly my personal favorite in Prague. Everything is great. do you like wine? Do you meat? Do you like fish? I’ve probably spent 26000 czk here and will gladly spend another. Perfect food, and perfect service.

Google
Delicious food and great atmosphere. We had such as special evening enjoying their tasting menu on New Year’s Eve! The whole experience was divine and lovely to do with the family.

Google
An amazing Michelin-recognized restaurant with great food, a lovely atmosphere, and excellent service. I got engaged here, making it unforgettable. Highly recommend for special occasions! P. S. It was the best steak I've ever had.

Google
My husband & I ate here for New Years’s Eve dinner with their prefix menu. The food was delicious (especially the duck ballotine with the peasant consommé) with a good amount of time between courses. Service was attentive and helpful. The main downside to our meal was the atmosphere. The couple at the table next to us brought a dog (clearly not a service animal) who originally was placed under their table. However, halfway through the meal, the woman placed the dog on her lap & proceeded to let it eat directly off the table and her dish. Although many staff members witnessed it, they allowed it to continue. We were in shock that a fine dining restaurant would allow this to happen both for sanitary reasons & for the discomfort of the other guests trying to enjoy a special evening.

Google
Every dish was an amazing surprise, both in form and taste. We have tried the pasta, tartare, scallops, 3 different steaks sea bass and deserts. Even the espresso was something else. Service was brilliant. When the waiter wasn't sure about some specifics of a steaks, he actually went to find out, to give us correct information. The place itself is stylish and classy, in a great location too. 11 out of 10 would come back for an experience that can be compared to a small but great vacation :D

Google
We started with the beef tongue and the special caprese salad with mozzarella. The beef tongue was a standout - perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our pasta was the special white truffle risotto, which was creamy, delicious, and well-executed. For the main, we had a grilled sea bass with broccolini; however, the bass was slightly under in the center due to its shape and had a slight bitterness. The sommelier’s wine recommendation was excellent, and he clearly knew his stuff. Highly recommend the beef tongue, any risotto, broccolini, and trusting the sommelier’s choice!

Friendly staff, very good food and great atmosphere! I recommend the spaghetti carbonara with truffle and the hazelnut dessert.

Yelp
Came here a bit later in the night (~1 hour before their closing) and was able to get a seat without any reservation. Their homemade pasta is the way to go - wish we just double downed on that instead of the lobster ravioli. The ravioli wasn't bad but was pale in comparison. The calamari appetizer wasn't that good and can be skipped. Definitely check this place out if you are hankering for Italian food.

Yelp
Delicious dinner at this Michelin guide restaurant. We sat in the main dining room in the front. Nice and simple decor. Service was good and food was delicious. The truffle risotto was divine!!!!!!!! A must try. They have an excellent wine list. Charles, the sommelier, helped us with our selections. If you're ever in Prague, add this one to your list.

Yelp
A great little restaurant on a side street that is a short walk from the Four Seasons and Charles bridge. Went for lunch. The waiters are all pros and know the menu and wine list (It's huge). The interior is beautiful with stone work on the entire ceiling. My wife got the fresh pasta and beef. It had bacon and crispy bread crumbles which added texture to a dish that seldom has it. It worked soooo well. The osso buco was very good and filling and the sauces were all perfect compliments. The arancini was very tasty. I would order a side of those next time. Speaking of next time, the 2 tables next to us got the asparagus soup and all were raving about it. Definitely ask to see the steaks and fish. They will bring out on big trays. I may move this to 5 stars after we try a few more places in Prague.

Yelp
This is fine dining at it's best. Casual, beautiful atmosphere, really delicious food, a great reasonably priced wine list and excellent service. What else could you ask for. We started with the langoustines which were perfectly prepared and the short rib pasta with chestnuts. Both are examples of really understanding the ingredients and preparing them perfectly. We then had the Italian sirloin steak which prepared the way a steak should be cooked with a wonderful peppercorn sauce on the side. Instead of dessert, we opted for the risotto with shaved white truffles. They know how to prepare it properly so go for it. All in all a wonderful dining experience!!!

Yelp
You tuber said good things about this restaurant, also Michelin restaurants web site endorsed. We decided to come here for the first dinner instead of traditional local meal. Service was good, foods are good in general, money dish was little salty, desert was lovely.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants in all of Europe, completely comparable to the finest Copenhagen, Paris, London or Lisbon have to offer. It was also by far the best service I've experienced for many many years. If Yelp gave the opportunity to give six stars to a place only once, this place would get my six stars.

Yelp
Michelin recommends, we attend. Happened to walk by this place on our first night in Prague and decided to get a reservation for a few nights later and I'm glad we did. The waiters were great, ambiance was great, and the food was great! They have an on staff sommelier who helped us choose a wine and would definitely suggest the beef tartar and tomato mozzarella avocado purée as appetizers. Great Italian spot in the heart of Old town Prague.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely one of the top three best Italian restaurants in Prague. There is nothing you can complain about when it comes to this place. The interior is typical Italian style - not very posy but well thought, cosy and authentic. The meals are delicious and you can see that they have been prepared by a chef who knows what he is doing. You will always get deliciously looking meal that is presented with care and prepared with the passion typical for Italians. With La Finestra you can never go wrong. You can come here with kids and you can be assured that they will not be bored, you can come here for important business meetings as well as for romantic dinners or evenings out with friends. This is one of the few places in Prague that is just perfect for any occasion.

Yelp
Came highly recommended by the Four Seasons Hotel! Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, and food was scrumptious! We had lamb chops, and grilled fish which was cooked while and filed table side! The lamb chops were crusted with fresh herbs and cooked perfectly medium rare! (See pics) The arugula salad and asparagus starter shouldn't be missed either!! A very romantic setting and they also had music.
google avatar

Linda A.

Yelp
This was our best meal in Prague. They have a Sommelier to help w wine selections. The atmosphere is elegant but book a reservation! There are a few dinner extras like sherbet to cleanse your palate, etc. It reminds me of a classic Italian restaurant that are hard to find these days. I had the octopus and it was amazing!
google avatar

Jaime B.

Yelp
This place was rated really high on trip advisor and yelp so we came here. We ordered pastas and the sea bream to have a light lunch and it was good but nothing special about it. Great service though, and the place is also very nice. 8.5/10
google avatar

Yelp
The food is really good.. No outdoor seating for the summer from what I saw.. But otherwise great food and I really liked the service.. Tried it during the day, would love to try it during the night time.. Do try their specials because they are pretty creative and the creativity does pay off with delicious dishes..

Yelp
Came here for a lunch, we both got the set lunch menu. The green pea soup was well balanced in flavors and it's exactly what I needed after binge eating meat after the first two meals at Prague. I got the pasta for main dish, it lacked flavors but cooked perfectly. My dessert, some homemade cake, was delicious. I cannot get enough of it and pretty much licked the plate. If you are in Prague for a visit and want to take a break from Goulash or roast pork, come here.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the most amazing Branzino encrusted in salt. The service was impeccable and I've send many friends traveling to Prague there for dinner!
google avatar

Margaret B.

Yelp
The best service and dinner I had in Prague. They have a menu that includes allergens and were very considerate. We got the beef tartare to start then I had the ravioli with roasted calimari which was so delicious. They also gave us a free glass of champagne! Can't recommend this place enough for the food and especially the service.

Yelp
We went here for dinner after reading a Yelp review for our first night in Prague. Everything was amazing and we had the nicest waiters ever!!
google avatar

Ginger P.

Yelp
We had an amazing meal here my first night in Prague. The restaurant is elegant and rustic, and the food and service are incredible. This was the best sommelier I've ever met anywhere. We loved his recommendation of an alpine Nebbiolo with my husband's Argentinian ribeye with arugula and tomatoes and my monkfish with saffron potatoes, clams, morels and artichoke. For starters, my husband had house spaghettini with shaved truffle, and I had a soup with a poached egg and a slice of pancetta; I forget what they call it here, but it was like white borscht I've had. Fantastic meal and overall experience, and I'd recommend it for dates and special occasions, as it is romantic and warm feeling.
google avatar

Summer D.

Yelp
Great great restaurant in Prague! I had some of the best pasta I've ever had! And they have a great wine selection to choose from. They had some of the best service I've had in Prague and it's totally different than the other restaurants in Prague or near old town! This is definitely a place to have a great meal and definitely a place to enjoy good company and good service. Also they have great olive oil from Italy which is rare in Czech
google avatar

Yelp
This is favorite Italian restaurant in town. The pasta are cooked perfect and de sauce are delicious. Probably one of the best macarron in Praha.
google avatar

Yelp
Upscale Italian eatery in Prague. Great food and wine options. Highly recommend making a reservation, due to its popularity.
google avatar

Yelp
Thanks to Yelp, my friends and I went to try this place and was not disappointed. One of the best pasta dishes I had outsides of Italy. The salted sea bass was good too and so was the dessert. Put it down on your list if you visit Prague.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service, fantastic Sommelier, wonderful food, beautiful ambience.

Yelp
This was our third visit. We were a group of 15. We ordered family style appetizers, and they were awesome. We ordered caprese salad, antipasto, beef tartar. For the main course they grilled a whole branzino, T-bone steak and two kinds of pasta. We loved the Arabiatta pasta and cacio e Pepe pasta. The fried zucchini and potatoes were delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
The first time I booked a table at La Finestra and it was a great evening. Best service I experienced in town so far combined with an excellent kitchen. We had an outstanding wine which had been recommend by their wine expert. The atmosphere is quite comfortable and we enjoyed our time there. It's going be one of my favorite places in Prague for Italian food.
google avatar

Yelp
La Finestra provided a much-welcome break from the frenzy of the town square during our visit to Prague. We'd had dumplings and sampled some of the local fare, and I was hesitant to have Italian food for fear of missing a real taste of Prague, but this is not the Italian you'll get in the homeland or, say, Little Italy! I started with a potato truffle soup with beef tartare, which came topped with fresh truffle shavings. This was a special that day and worth the stop in and of itself. From there I went with the pappardelle with chicken ragout, chicken livers and veal sweetbread. On the plate I couldn't really tell which was which, but it worked together to create an amazing dish. Paired with a glass of wine, it was the perfect upscale lunch that we were thrilled to be able to enjoy. The ambiance here is classy (I feel like it's a go-to for business lunches), and we were attended to by a very friendly and courteous staff who easily chatted with us as we closed out the bill - where we were from, how long we were staying, where the next stop was. After spending the day trying vainly to eek out the few Czech words we'd learned, and with little acknowledgement or reciprocation, it was a relief to be able to communicate easily with the staff. We couldn't have been happier with this meal and very much enjoyed Prague because of it.

Yelp
Dining Date May 21, 2015 for dinner. The menu isn't that great, but the specials are abundant. There were as many if not more choices of specials as there are items on the regular menu. The aged T-bone steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. All the food from the appetizers to the desserts were great. Service was slow but steady. The wait staff did a fine job with our table of 12. They were happy to describe each dish to us in detail. Excellent wine selection, but limited to just a few beer choices.
google avatar

Pamela M.

Yelp
We were the only non-locals in the place. Busy with people who live nearby and know a great restaurant when they see it. Our waiter showed us the fresh fish table side. The fish was perfectly prepared. The service was outstanding. We had many a tasty meal in Europe during our two week adventure, but this was by far the best. Try it!

Yelp
2 minutes walking distance from our hotel, pretty good crowd for Tuesday night. We are always up for good Italian food and this place delivered it. I ordered fish soup which was very interesting and never had anything like it before with clear broth with muscles clam and white fish with tapioca looking pasta, very refreshing. I got two appetizer sizes of pasta with squid lightly seasoned with olive oil and squid ink and pasta was al Dante and good flavor and my last course was their special pasta with lobster and taste was great but wish had little more lobster in the pasta. My BF ordered ravioli with pumpkin and rack of lamb, both were fantastic. We shared the dessert a baby carrot cake which was light and slightly different than what I'm used to with brown sugar but very good. Overall, very solid good food overall and highly recommended it.

Yelp
Excellent! Now this is not a place you'll see tourists or kids but here we were after visiting the Jewish Quarter - twelve of us including kids age 3-13. They gave us full coloring books and great coloring pencils, amuse bouche even for the kids, and made some special meals for the kids (which the kids loved - fettuccini with milk-fed chicken I believe). The adults enjoyed the scallop caponata, awesome green pea and porcini soups, excellent risotto with octopus and chanterelles, and incredible salt-crusted sea bass. The restaurant is very handsome down to the details in the bathroom and the waiters stations. The servers were gracious and spoke English perfectly. The host was very stylish. I felt very relaxed. A fantastic establishment. Would definitely like to go again while I'm in Prague.
google avatar

Farrah A.

Yelp
The asparagus salad and octopus were good. Also the beet risotto with salmon was good but too creamy. Couldn't taste the risotto as it was soaked in sauce. Also for an Italian restaurant the choices of pastas were very limited. Only go there if you want some good meat or fish. The waiter was rude and made us feel uncomfortable. Dessert was not good (tiramisu). I'd skip dessert.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Excellent italian spot in the heart of Prague. The daily fish and meat selection will literally blow you away. Fantastic wine selection - mostly Italian, with good prices and an excellent Sommelier. We gave him a rough idea of what Italians we liked, and he steered us into a great selection that we had never tried. Very intimate place, but not loud. Check out the wine cellar while you are there.
google avatar

Yan Z.

Yelp
One of the best restaurant in Prague, good food, good service, classy atmosphere...must try!
google avatar

Yelp
Fredh and delicious. Cozy. Recommendable. We had ravioli and chia breakfast. Both great.

Yelp
This was our second favorite restaurant in Prague (Divinis was #1). Went for lunch (couldn't get a reservation for dinner on short notice). The service was excellent, as was the food. We shared an appetizer of brioche with warm foie gras, topped with sashimi tuna, and sweet apple purée, orange zest and grappa sauce. Entrees were..Duck (might be the best I've ever had) with pumpkin gnocchi (light, fluffy pillows of deliciousness), and winter vegetables, garnished with almond and juniper berry sauce. Pappardelle with ragout of Iberian pork cheeks, porcini mushrooms, borlotti beans, and artichokes. Beautiful presentation of food. Very good and extensive wine selection. Beautiful decor: very inviting, great place to settle in for a long lunch.

Yelp
We stopped here in Prague last year because our stomachs needed a break from Austrian and Czech food and Italian food sounded great!! But it didn't really hit the spot for us, all the dishes were way too complicated. I think we got the most "normal" things on the menu, and that was a beet risotto (looked like cranberry sauce) with scallops- which was actually pretty good but not really what we were looking for, and spaghetti with some kind of smoked sauce, calamari, and shrimp. We should have just stopped somewhere for a slice of pizza! Wish they had had a few more simple, classic Italian dishes.
google avatar

Kathy R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and delightful ambiance. The fresh dorado is excellent and spaghetti is to die for.

Tess A.

Yelp
Wonderful food, service, decor and clientele. We were very lucky to find this place on Christmas Eve. We went to the main restaurant as well as the cafe next door. Both were great. Owned by two Italian and Czech partners. On a quieter street and out of the way of the main tourist area. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Great find. Enjoyed a fantastic linguine special with lobster and shrimp. Service was excellent. Waiter recommended an elegant but reasonably priced Chablis and was very attentive to the table. Dessert was not to be missed. We were very happy to have run across it.
google avatar

Cristina A.

Yelp
We wanted to try this place out based on the reviews and planned our itinerary accordingly. We were glad to see the place was nearly empty when we arrived but were turned away for "not having reservations." I'm guessing they just didn't like how we were dressed - polo and button down shirt but with shorts. Too bad because we were looking for a nice meal and ready to splurge. Would have gladly followed a dress code if we knew there was one.
google avatar

Guillaume P.

Yelp
Slightly upper class Italian ristorante with a small but great menu and some fantastic wines. Astonishing service, especially the vinologue who suggested a nice Chianti wine which suited our dinner quite well. We were treated with a nice aperitive and amuse of the house. The ambiance of this restaurant is very relaxed. . Price Quality is great, especially from a West-European point of view. Happy to go again there some time.
google avatar

Bill W.

Yelp
Wow, best meal we had in Europe after visiting Budapest, Vienna, Germany and points in between. Impeccable service, sommelier was outstanding as was his wine recommendation. Food presentation was perfect, setting the stage for a wonderful tasty and satisfying meal. The veal tenderloin may be the best I've had anywhere. Simply "fantastický"!

Alex T.

Yelp
A rude sommelier who refused to look at or respond to my wife when she spoke to him, an over-dressed salad, mushy over-cooked gnocchi, bland tasteless bream, and the most expensive restaurant around. Avoid.
google avatar

Yelp
If in Prague, and you like great food and great service, this is a place you shouldn't miss. Great dining experience!!!

David N.

Yelp
Just not worth the condescending service. The food was alright. The steak for two was great, the salad was very nice, but the pasta was oddly the worst dish by far. Actually the bread and butter was better than most of the food. Our waiter was terrible. Arrogant, rude and ignored us almost the entire time. For how nice of a place it pretends to be, you'd be better off somewhere else.

Leighton L.

Yelp
The most exceptional meal I've had in quite some time. Where to begin! The staff was incredible, and offered exquisite suggestions. The menu was superior to any restaurant in this area. Not to mention the special additions between courses that truly made the night far more phenomenal than we could have imagined!

Jamie P.

Yelp
Potentially my favorite restaurant in Prague. If this was in LA, NY or any other major city it would be on your list of favorites. Quality is great, they will make anything you want, but their fish and meats are definitely what they are known for. Strongly advise sharing.
google avatar

Yelp
A lovely meal in Prague. We ordered everything from the specials list and were very pleased with our choices. Asparagus was featured prominently (springtime); we had a salad with it, rocket, nuts and blackberries and then a lemon pasta, again with asparagus, and clams. For the entree, we had salt-baked sea bass for 2 (very moist) and spinach/fried zucchini as sides. Skipped dessert as we were quite sated. Service was informative and attentive. We asked for wine pairings instead of a bottle and staff was happy to make suggestions, offer tastes, etc. The decor is basic (exposed brick, wood floors) and tables are well spaced. Next door is the store (wine, cheese, table wares, dessert), but they also serve over there if the dining room is full. The table adjacent to ours brought their pug puppy to dinner and the resourceful waiter even managed to procure a dog water dish. Luckily, little Pugsly was too small to leap across the table when the uncooked steak choices were exhibited. The owners fed the dog during the entire meal, thus setting the stage for a future filled with bad canine habits. My guess is they will also be ill-suited to parenthood. Still, it made for some interesting dinner theater.

Yelp
Went to this restaurant on very high recommendations and was very disappointed. If you're looking for some solid Italian food in Praha don't go here. It's overpriced and not good. We had a dish that was supposed to be a Bruschetta but it was just a pile of cheese with two toast points and some sweetbreads and nectarines on the plate - not a Bruschetta at all! The toast was not even grilled nor toasted. The main entrees left much to be desired. My husband had the octopus which was mealy and not tasty at all - and he loves octopus and always orders it when it's on the menu. I had a pasta dish that was decent, but certainly not worth the price. We wanted to have dessert but our waiter took entirely way too long throughout the entire service and we had already spent two hours at the restaurant so we decided against it. Overall, it was a mediocre meal at best. Sorry, but the restaurant did not live up to its reviews at all.

Brian B.

Yelp
Thanks for an excellent meal! We dined here with a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed it. We relied on the sommelier's advice for wine and were very happy with the result. Great food and great service - highly recommend !!
