When there are so many restaurants to choose from in La Rochelle, we were disappointed in the service at this one. My friend and I, who is French, chose this restaurant out of many. The food was fine, but where they went wrong was with their service. Our waitress, after serving our meal, literally disappeared for the rest of the time we were there. Along with our meal, we ordered a bottle of wine. We had almost finished the bottle when I went to take a drink from my glass and noticed a fly, still alive, floating in the glass. This of course, was no ones fault, it just happened. But when my friend got the attention of the manager, maybe the owner, to show him, instead of just saying sorry and giving me a new glass, he VERY curtly said, "Well, we didn't service it to you like that". What a horrible thing to say to a customer. Of course they didn't since I had been drinking from it. He then sent over another server, not ours, who took the glass and the rest of the bottle, which still had some wine left in it, away. He came back with a new glass of wine, which was not even close to what we were drinking. It was just a very uncomfortable situation to put a customer in. I have since gone back and read the 'bad' reviews of this restaurant and it seems that the manager has a reputation for not being so friendly. Which is concerning since he is working in the hospitality industry. My friend, who has family near La Rochelle, will not be leaving a great review with them and their friends.
