Food, atmosphere, and service are all 100% on point! I ordered some kind of asada plate combo (honestly, I was too busy drooling over the menu to remember the exact name) — but it came with an enchilada, carne asada, rice, and beans. And let me tell you... zero regrets. The place was absolutely PACKED (Saturday lunch rush)— so do yourself a favor and make a reservation, or at least be mentally prepared for a reasonable wait. Totally worth it though — when the food and service are this good, you can’t expect anything less! Our waitress was a gem — super friendly, knew the menu inside and out, and made great recommendations on both food and drinks. We ate, drank, and caught up with each other without ever feeling rushed, even though it was clearly a busy day. (We didn’t loiter either, lol — we were just living our best lives.) Already looking forward to coming back for a date night with my husband! Highly recommend. ♡

Google
This is a must go to spot. The margaritas are delicious and are great quality! All of the food we ordered was great!! I definitely recommend ordering the chips and salsa sampler. The house salsa just tasted like crushed tomatoes. Would definitely recommend coming here as well as their other restaurants (Cappys & Mamas) they do a great job at all of their restaurants! Make sure to get reservations days in advance for the weekend.

Good! The place is good. Very nice place. The outdoor patio is so pretty but it was a hot day. Our server Josh made our visit pretty nice. The tex mex plate was huge and delicious. Barbacoa flautas place needed more sauce and crema. Cafe de olla was delicious.

Google
5 star restaurant in every category. This place was phenomenal. The food was cooked to perfection. The chefs really out did themselves. They have the best flan I've ever had. The creme brulee was insanity 😔🤤 The service was spectacular and the ambiance was amazing. This restaurant is a must visit if you're in San Antonio in search of Tex-Mex cuisine.

Google
This place was recommended by more than one person and looking at the menu ahead of time, we were pretty excited. We had made a reservation well in advance and showed up about ten minutes early. It was very busy and the hostess told us they'd message us when a table was ready, which ended up being about twenty minutes after our reservation time. There was a daily special appetizer and entree that both sounded interesting- lamb lollipops for appetizer and a poblano and oaxocan stuffed wagyu steak. We tried those and a shrimp and lobster enchilada. The presentation was very nice, but the food was incredibly bland. Sauces that were supposed to be on the plates were not apparent in flavor and everything was under seasoned. Neither of us are sure why , but after a couple bites during the entree my wife started feeling bad and stopped eating. The lamb lollipops were the best things we ate, they were thin sliced deep fried lamb chops in a black bean sauce, they were good, though also under seasoned. The entrees were quite disappointing. The steak was thin cut and well done, and not stuffed with peppers and cheese but sitting on top of it, and the plate had a lot of fairly dry mashed potatoes. The enchiladas were dry and the vegetables were undercooked, in my opinion. Everything needed more salt, and I don't think I've ever said that of a restaurant. If this food was typical I think this restaurant lives in reputation alone.

Google
Another perfect dinner. Started off with a spicey pineapple margarita. Chips, salsa & a tuna appetizer. We had the fish tacos and paela. Everything was so delicious and the service was on point.

Google
Great first night in San Antonio. We were there for the Final Four and heard great things. Cute little house and the best back patio. We did the dip trio and I had the salmon which was delicious. The habanero cream was so good - just the right amount of spice and paired excellently with the salmon and spaghetti squash!

Google
Hands down the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. We come from Dallas but are living in Dubai and usually I’d compare relative to the city but this one comparing internationally. Out of every Mexican I had this was phenomenal especially the ceviche salad. All food felt very fresh just like it’s mentioned by other reviewers. The service was good but very slow because they were very busy. No issues though we got everything we needed. The manager checked on us and made sure everything went well. If we are ever back in San antonio we are definitely coming back. The decor of the restaurant and music are so nice too and gives an amazing atmosphere.

Yelp
Came here for a pre-Shakira b-day dinner for my fabulous friend Jen. The space was so beautiful! We were in the back room that you walk through the courtyard to get to, in a big round table that was perfect for our group. The drinks were interesting and tasty, the empanada was ridiculously good, and the queso was solid. I ordered a shrimp dish over rice that had some sort of butter and seasoning in it, when I tell you I couldn't stop eating it even though I was wearing a tight dress and knew I was about to be shaking my ass off at the show. There were multiple people attending to the table, some less experienced than others, but we were able to get whatever we needed and everyone was very kind and attentive. Would definitely return the next time I'm celebrating something in San Antonio

Sumeeth V.

Yelp
cited as one of the better restaurants in san antonio but the experience left a lot to be desired drinks not that strong fajitas the most underwhelming of any fajitas we have ever had paella was decent, if we just stuck to that would probably have been rated higher service haphazard, entrees came out like fifteen minutes after another 17 for chips and sauces passed on dessert won't be back

Andrew W.

Yelp
We went here after my girlfriend and mine engagement to celebrate with our families! La Fonda was great and very accommodating! The food was spectacular and our waiter was very nice and made great recommendations. The restaurant is very well decorated and is huge! I would recommend and would come back

Lowell O.

Yelp
It's a really beautiful restaurant. Quite large, with several dining rooms and an amazing courtyard for outdoor dining. Food, cocktails and service were top notch. Prices are more than fair. This is our go-to restaurant for each trip to San Antonio. I wouldn't say it's particularly innovative. But it's some darn good TexMex. My refried black beans were a little on the dry side, but outside of that one detail, we were all very pleased with our meals!

Cristina B.

Yelp
Very welcoming ambiance but definitely not an authentic Mexican restaurant, in my opinion. Service was great and the food was good. We shared the queso toreado which was very delicious. My favorite thing out of our entire meal. I also ordered the molé enchiladas and my hubby and father in law ordered the pork and risotto but the risotto was overcooked. Dessert was tasty too. Overall good experience!

Tammy S.

Yelp
Our daughter and her wife took us here for our anniversary and it was amazing! We sat on the patio and even got heat when it turned chilly. Our server was great and helpful in making menu selections. He was right on about the suggestions and we had a wonderful meal. Flavorful, interesting and fresh! The beef dishes melted in your mouth and the margaritas were well balanced and fresh!

Veronica P.

Yelp
Our Uber driver tried to warn us that this wasn't the best restaurant to try while in San Antonio, but we had reservations and didn't want to back out on them. Big mistake! While I can say they have a nice setting and the pozole was good, the service was lacking! Our server was super sweet, but she had her hands full with two parties that had several children. It was her support staff and management that fell short. We paid for chips that came with a refill, requested them, and never got them. Then we requested that our drinks be served with our food, and they were not. My drink came with a gnat in the lemon AND they came when I was on the last two spoons of my soup and my husband was bites away from the end of his meal. We told our server when she came over and requested that they remove the drinks off of our ticket. Her manager decided they were only taking off the drink that had a gnat in it, and gave me a plate to cover the drink. That wasn't even the chief complaint. We were outside and that can happen, so I asked for a new lemon, but my server was kind enough to bring me a new drink. What we wanted was that drinks be served with our meal. That was a pretty small request, but one that was too big for them to handle. Unfortunately, this is not an establishment I can recommend. Try the Panadería downtown across from Walgreen, the food trucks at El Camino, or Mi Tierra, if you want a classic dining spot.

Sean D.

Yelp
The establishment and the staff was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly, polite, and took time to explain the dishes. The ambiance and esthetics were very pleasant and were in a really cool location. The food in my opinion was ordinary. It was off the path of tasting culturally authentic. I would say it is catering to a certain realm of common taste in the area. The best thing there was the dip. I guess I feel for the prices and reputation I was expecting more. The menu seems as if it could use a major change. This place was gorgeous and the service was fantastic so I don't want to seem negative it's just the food wasn't very impressive.

Mariana M.

Yelp
This is an upscale Mexican restaurant. Food tasted great. Our service recommended a couple of specials that's we order which were the shrimp and beef tacos and the flautas. Both were really good. It was a cute restaurant, perfect for an evening date night and they also have a wonderful patio that would be nice to eat at during good weather! Overall pretty good, will come back again

Christopher G.

Yelp
I've been out of town for a few years, and the new owners have been very good for the place. The classics are still on the menu, with a bunch of well thought out additions and refreshments. First class service, which I would expect from the new owners. I really enjoyed the refreshed outdoor dining experience. We had a massive group (20+) and they handed it like champs. Recommended.

Yelp
08 Jan 2025 Well, I recommend making a reservation if you want to eat here. We arrived at 6:30pm and had to wait about thirty minutes. Of course the folks with reservations were seated before us. A pleasant fellow Stephon, was our server. Very nice calm personality. Not pushy. We ordered a couple of specials. The shrimp poblano nachos were freakin' awesome. Eight decent-sized flat nachos (thank you!) that did not skimp on the shrimp, topped with a white cheese, subtle hints of jalapeño that bit you in the end in a good way. The husband had the pork chop special. A large chuleta oak-grilled on a bed of polenta. The brown sauce was so good. He also had a cup of the red pozole which he said was great. I had enchiladas verdes. My complaint about this restaurant is that they may nickle and dime you. Don't get get me wrong - the food is outstanding in flavor and presentation. But... An order of chips and salsa that is free most other places is $3. There is also a charge for hot sauce. It wasn't much, but a charge nonetheless. And they don't take American Express. Go there.

Scott S.

Yelp
I had a very nice experience here. It feels like you're in an Hacienda or one of the Mexican "magical towns" - kind of like Santiago outside of MTY. Love the fact that it's the oldest Tex Mex spot in SATX. The whole restaurant is beautiful - inside and out. The service was fantastic - very attentive. Very interesting menu - went with the eggys benny which was on a gordita - really enjoyed it. This is one of those places that I would recommend people to come to while in SATX. I would def return and try more dishes.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We went here for to celebrate a family member's birthday. The restaurant has a lot of space for bigger parties with indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a lot nearby for convenient parking. The strawberry basil margaritas were a hit for our friends. The chips and dip is a good amount for about 4 people. All the dips are tasty. We split the Tex-Mex Deluxe which was delicious. The jalapeno cheese tamale was awesome. The fajita meat was flavorul. The service was good. Our waiter checked on our many times and gave excellent recommendations. I would recommend this spot if you have a big group.

Noel W.

Yelp
I am torn on the review as on a recent trip to San Antonio, I ate here twice. Once was 5+, so we went back again another night and it was average at best. So I believe the 4 stars is probably appropriate - catch it on a good night and the flavors and food are spot on. On an off night, food came out way too quickly (and it wasn't crowded!) and the flavor was just lacking on a number of dishes. Love the atmosphere and the drinks so I am giving it an overall 4 for two trips.

Markie S.

Yelp
The food was really good with the exception of the rice which was ok. Parking is horrible. The service was meh, the server didn't come by for refills, didn't take dirty dishes after done with appetizers, didn't bring clean utensils when our cake was brought out. I would not go back but it was nice for a one time try.

Jenna D.

Yelp
We walked through the restaurant to the back room, which was large, airy, and most importantly, air conditioned. The cocktails were delicious and I highly recommend whatever their specialty is for the night. When I went, it was a ginger margarita, and it was spicy and refreshing - and strong. I didn't imbibe a second time, so I did not try any others, but everyone loved their drinks. They also have a great Mocktail list. For dinner, I am a sucker for paella, so I jumped at the chance. It's not as saffron-heavy as a Spanish place, but it was pretty good. The portions are pretty small and there wasn't a ton of seafood in mine, but the girl next to me had the same order and she had a bit more than I did. Maybe just luck of the draw. Overall it was a nice place and we had two servers taking care of our table of 9. They were pretty prompt and paid attention to when we needed more water or when we needed another fork, cocktail, or whatever else. Parking can be tough, but it's a great place for a group, for a date, or solo.

Yelp
Since 1932... Located in the historic neighborhood of Monte Vista in a former hacienda style home. It's a San Antonio institution "Must Do" at least once. My husband and I haven't been in many years. We just started talking about what we could do different. Well Mexican is what we usually 'go out' for. The weather had cooled down, so we decided on a patio. After talking about our choices, La Fonda on Main won the vote Even better, although a long wait on a Sunday 6pm, we got a great table under the huge oak tree with lights. Hint: Make a reservation We both chose the Chile Relleno. We read they serve it with almonds and raisins, just like we like it. Ummm, it was just ok. Disappointed. My filling is better. The cheese enchilada with green sauce was interesting, and tangy. No rice, No beans. which is ok for me, just noted tho. Chips and salsa is extra cost. Service was good... but really really slow due to groups... All in all, it was a nice ambiance experience. We are pretty sure that La Fonda won't be on a regular rotation tho.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years, we were always impressed & I've met Cappy a handful of times, every time I did he rewarded me with tokens. Cappy is a very great guy & very successful. Unfortunately we've been hearing through our friend group that the quality has been going down hill & most of our friends have stopped going. My wife & I haven't been out on a date in a few months so I decided to surprise her with a trip to La Fonda on Main. We didn't have to wait long as we had reservations, our skinny margaritas were amazing as always. Once seated our server Armando, did a fantastic job. He presented the Chef's specials for the evening and we decided to go with the Fried Octopus, it sounded delightful. However, to start the presentation was off. They were served over a "bed" of green beans with crumbled bacon. They didn't need the green beans which weren't even seasoned. The fried octopus tasted like batter, zero seasoning, no salt present and you couldn't even taste or tell there was octopus present. The cause was the best thing on the plate. When Armando returned to check on us he apologized and had it comped. We were told it would be replaced with a dessert instead then found that it would only be replaced with a "celebratory dessert" which was almost like a mango flan. It was okay, not great. When our mains arrived the Alambre Mixto was just okay, again lacked seasoning & salt. The veg was absolutely not seasoned at all, the best thing on the plate was the creamy chicken nopalito rice. The Lobster & Shrimp Enchiladas were delicious, spicy, but delicious. This isn't typically a spicy dish as we've had it before, it's possible the poblano had a little heat but they're generally a mild flavored pepper. Unfortunately it was a date night completely wasted and not worth the investment. I don't think we'll be back, I don't know if they have a new head chef. If they have a new kitchen staff or what, but they need to taste the food. And come on, no seasoning??? We even saw people asking for salt shakers and adding salt to their meals, for the level of restaurant La Fonda is one should never have to ask for salt. Best of luck to you Cappy, definitely a sad to see the quality like this.

Yunnán C.

Yelp
This hands down is the best Tex-Mex spot in town(although more towards the authentic Mexican side). I recommend you make a reservation coming here. I had heard from several peeps over the years that this was their favorite spot to grab enchiladas. For me, if a spot can whip out delicious cocktails, micheladas, rice, beans, tortillas, salsa, while also able to serve traditional Mexican dishes. Well that's happiness. Have had a large majority of the menu. Even their seasonal items. I'm a mezcal drinker so it's cool they offer a couple of some of my favorite cocktails in town. The decor is traditional Mexican. Mexican ceramic tile, warm colors, warm paintings. Their outdoor patio areas are also gorgeous. The workers have always been very helpful. The service is some of the best you'll get in town. If you have room in your tummy, try their dessert. Chocolate cake is recommended.

Yelp
A well-loved restaurant for so many reasons! Ambiance: lovely Mexican design with multiple rooms, a beautiful back patio, and smaller front patio. Never a bad seat! Service is always attentive but understated. The food is CONSISTENTLY good. High quality ingredients prepared well with plenty of creativity. Every appetizer, entree, cocktail we've had has been SOOO good! Relax and enjoy a great meal in lovely surroundings. surroundings

Yelp
Oldest Tex-mex restaurant in San Antonio. We brought our friends from Kansas to experience Tex-Méx and they loved it! The staff were so friendly and helpful making sure all food restrictions were met. My friends got the Tex-mex plate and they got to try a variety of dishes like tamales, enchilada, carne. I loved the churros, they were amazing. The patio is really nice, I would highly recommend sitting outside. They have parking so it's an easy place to take folks.

Mark B.

Yelp
Well, this place has great food. However, the seating arrangements for a party of 7 was like sitting at a kids table. Not nearly enough room, especially with our 94 year old father. When asked to add a small table or another seating arrangement they were absolutely unmoving. As I made our reservations 5 days out and it was Mother's Day I mistakenly assumed we would be seated properly. It was also to celebrate a 29 year Anniversary. The excuse was that everything was booked months in advance, which would not be. Otherwise I would not have been able to get seating for 7 five days in advance. Disappointed in the head hostess who seemed to care less and unwilling to find a solution. If you book a large group I would advise specifying you want a long table vs a small round table or you will be disappointed. The wait staff is always great! However, no option but to eat since it is way too late to find anything else.

Renee M.

Yelp
Great place for girl's night out ( or any other time)! Our party of 6 was a little needy but Art took care of everything, Art took our crazy drink orders in stride. He even offered to bring out some mole for those interested to taste test. We started with their house-made chips with guac, queso and salsa - all delish! We had a couple of the menu items and three of the specials ( and they were indeed SPECIAL) Every item was beautifully plated as well as beyond tasty! Too full for dessert, but those looked great as well. Plenty of parking (2 lots plus on-street). The patio is fabulous. Highly recommend reservations. I can confidently recommend La Fonda on Main for a nice dinner, a special occasion or a place to send visitors for real Mexican food.

Peter L.

Yelp
This is a cute little Mexican restaurant near the downtown area. They have an indoor and outdoor patio space. Definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand as this place can become quickly packed. We came on a Monday night. They were able to seat us and take our orders relatively quickly. I got the shrimp and beef special over rice. Overall tasted great but the beef was slightly overcooked. They had a mezcal Monday special where you can try three different mezcals for $15. All 3 had a subtle but different kick.

Letty U.

Yelp
La Fonda on Main is an absolute fave! I come by often because I work nearby. I have never left disappointed. They have amazing specials and seasonal cocktails. When you walk in the restaurant, you'll see the large chalkboard with all the specials of the day. The entire staff is kind and will do their absolute best to accommodate any requests. The La Fonda Nachos with chicken or beef or both are a must order for an appetizer or meal. The Mexican Cobb Salad is a definite favorite and today we also ordered one of the specials, the Chefs Tacos with Brisket. The seasonal cocktails are always delicious! Today it was the Blueberry Mezcal Margarita and it was delicious!! From experience and stated on their website, I highly recommend that you make a reservation no matter what time of the day or size of the party. It is absolutely worth a visit but RSVP!

Lucille T.

Yelp
I decided to give this restaurant a try because of a coupon I got in the mail. It has a great reputation and for the most part it lived up to it. My husband and I both had the Enchiladas Verdes and thought the dish was pretty good. The chips were really, really good and at the end of the meal we asked for a container to carry out the ones we had left and they gave us an entire package of chips, which we ate on for days. Our waiter was very nice and took very good care of us. The drinks were on the small side but very tasty. Our waiter always made sure we had plenty of water in our glasses and the atmosphere was electric. We did make a reservation and it appears that was a good idea as they get very busy.

Tim M.

Yelp
Fantastic Mexican fine dining experience. Highly recommend this place for an exclusive dining experience for Mexican food. Service is fantastic. Atmosphere is wonderful. And the food is amazing. I can't even think of a competitor to La Fonda on Main anywhere in Texas or anywhere for that matter. Reservations is required.

Erique F.

Yelp
Great ambiance, indoor/outdoor seating, super friendly and attentive staff, wonderful experience. The entire meal and deserts were top-notch. The only criticism I have is that I ordered paella which was supposed to be served in a risotto. The rice was rice; well seasoned, but just rice. It did not have the creamy texture of a creamy risotto. But it tasted great and in all honesty, I probably would have preferred it served the way it was. We will definitely be back.

Bryan H.

Yelp
Yummy in my tummy. Margaretas good. Service Good. Nachoes good. The La Fonda lunch Special is good. All not great but still very good.

Emily W.

Yelp
We made reservations for Final Four Sat brunch and loved every bite: Special coffee was amazing, Jalapeño Margarita was perfect spice and sweet. I had the chila-quilles, and I have not had better! I wish we would have sat outside, so we'll just have to come back again.

Vivian R.

Yelp
Everything was flavorful! Outdoor seating was beautiful and relaxing. I would go to dinner here again to try more dishes! Service was excellent !

Ronnie T.

Yelp
La Fonda was highly recommend to me by the locals of San Antonio! They sure did me a favor! This place is a gem on the side of a small street. The door has a really cool iron etched design! I was greeted and seated promptly. They had no indoor seating left, so I gladfully took a table outside. There are fans, which is great! My waitress Jordyn, she was the epitome of amazing customer service! She gave me salsa and chips + queso fundido on the house! The salsa was flavorful with a nice heat kick! The cheese was very smooth and tasty! I ordered the prickly pear spritz as my beverage, and it was both cooling and hydrating with a very unique flavor profile! Now, for my appetizer I ordered the spinach salad. It had crushed almonds and also sliced mandarin pieces! This salad was altogether fresh, delicious, and vibrant! I felt my energy levels elevating upon eating it. Now, onto the main shebang! The lobster and shrimp enchiladas! LAWD TAKE THE WHEEL! Okay, so these were highly recommended by my waitress Jordyn. Two enchiladas stuffed with shrimp, a big ole juicy lobster tail on top! Creamy corn rice, with a douse of chipotle sauce over the enchiladas! These were some very luxury enchiladas I tell you! The flavors were so wholesome, and the texture + the lobster meat and shrimp took this dish up to a whole other universe! Please, do yourself a favor and stop here if you happen to be in San Antonio!

Victoria O.

Yelp
Update: I tried their weekend brunch and it was fantastic!! The menu has a variety of options for every taste, whether you're craving sweet or savory, and the brunch drink menu was equally great in choices! They still offer their regular drink menu and a lot of the regular menu items too. I ordered the chilaquiles, which were a really good portion - definitely enough for 2 people to share. So glad I finally tried the brunch here!

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
3.8/5 Service here was great and I loved the ambience of this place. We sat on the patio and thankfully because they had fans out it was not hot at all. We got chips and dip--none of the dips were very spicy, but they went well with the chips. The lemonade was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the tartness was perfect. I ordered the chef special al pastor. The tacos were alright in my opinion--too much pineapple on the pastor and the tacos were not spicy at all. The salad that came with it was super delicious though--not too sweet and not too savory.

M P.

Yelp
Well, as other people have said Make A Reservation! If you don't, you will be waiting for at least 30 minutes. Kind of weird because the restaurant wasn't even full....i asked if they were short staffed on cooks because I don't understand why there was a wait with no one in there. Anyways, won't ever go back.

Hema K.

Yelp
Came here solo on the recommendation of a friend who grew up in the area. The patio vibe is amazing!! I didn't have a reservation and was worried where I might be seated since I was alone, but was given a quiet corner in the furthest back patio section with a small fountain. I came around 6pm on a weekday and there were plenty of people but no wait. I began with a mango margarita and people watched as others filled my section. The chips & salsa were fantastic (make sure to ask for the unlimited refills) - the salsa is made with raw tomatoes and has the texture of bruschetta, very unique with a little kick. For dinner I ordered the camote (sweet potato) enchiladas - these were to die for!! Sweet potatoes & nopales inside, queso fresco & sweet potato shoestrings on top. The texture and flavor was outstanding. There were several other vegetarian options available and you probably can't go wrong. The service was also very friendly and prompt -- I see what all the other reviews were raving about! If you sit outside, do be prepared for the mosquitos to arrive a little before sunset. I got a couple bites in my last 20 mins.

Mike K.

Yelp
After being highly recommended as the best Mexican food in the San Antonio area, my expectations were high. As a party of one, I was seated outdoors on the patio. With lots of options of what sounded like tasty unique cocktails. After getting answers to my questions from the server , I decided on the Desert Negroni made with Sotol. After reviewing the entree options I was torn between the shrimp fish and the Skirt steak. Ultimately I went with the skirt steak. Med rare over cheesy potatoes pan fried with sweet corn, onion, pablano pepper slices and a nice dollop of fresh guacamole on the side. The food and drink came out quickly when ordered and the server clearly knew the menu well with educated answers to my questions. The steak was prepared to the proper temperate as ordered, the flavors were deep and were not too spicy. Potatoes were cooked al dente and were not overly cheesy. Overall, my expectations were met. I would not say they were exceeded but I'd love an opportunity to try more entrees off the menu. Was very pleased. Would highly recommend.

Aida P.

Yelp
I can't believe I didn't save room for dessert! I definitely need to go back one day and just order dessert and some coffee. We had a big party of 8, and unfortunately I can't remember which dish went with what picture. Therefore my apologies for not writing a description for all of the pictures. Everyone enjoyed their meals and said it tasted great. The service was great and our server check up on our group often and answered our questions and made suggestions. We sat in the terrace and the ambiance was nice, but it was so humid today. Luckily the Aguas Frescas helped with the thirst. This one was pineapple and toasted coconuts; it was so good! Now, with a large party the whole check was together and there is no way to split it, so you definitely need to take that into consideration if you are bringing a big party.

Kandy G.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant ambience. Casual but still nice enough for a family dinner or a nice date. If possible, please get seat outside which added so much more to the ambience than inside. Unfortunately, we were sat at a corner table by the swinging kitchen doors. The empanadas for appetizer were filled with creamy Oaxaca cheese even my kids loved it. The paella was very good, the skirt steak was cooked perfectly and paired well with the potatoes esquite. The skinny margarita was one of the best I've had. The Mexican martini is a must try. Our waiter was friendly and service over all was fine, nothing was over done. You must try the empanada dessert!! well priced between $27-32 per plate.

Yelp
Food A+ Drinks A+ Service A+ Ambiance A+++ La Fonda on Main is one of the best patios I've experienced. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out a superb sipping tequila. We shared nachos and enchiladas suizas. Both were scrumptious with generous portions. We will make it a point to visit every time we are visiting San Antonio.

Yelp
If you come to la Fonda on main, make sure you grab a seat outdoors because the back patio has such a nice ambiance! While it's ideal to come when the weather isn't too hot, there are some fans that keep a breeze going. There's even fly squatters that spin to keep the bugs away! The food is really good here, but nothing is earth shattering amazing. However, you definitely need to start off your meal with the guac, queso, and salsa (chips & dips)! I got enchiladas (a seafood one that's not currently on the menu at the moment), which were so delicious and had so many pieces of seafood. The tres leches cake was also perfect to end the meal. Pricing wise, the menu items are on the pricier end but definitely worth the experience and friendly service.

Yelp
A very good place to eat! Food was spectacular and service is great! I would recommend a reservation if possible. We had to wait about 15 minutes for 2 without one.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our visit today! Attentive service. Beautiful ambiance. Food had great flavor and generous portions. We both said if we lived near this restaurant we'd be here all the time!

Yelp
Then hundreds of good Yelp Reviews don't lie! Came here on a Saturday with a group of 4, they take reservations. They are known for their outdoor patio ambiance, so try and sit out there if possible! Environment: social, friendly, upscale casual with smooth music level $$ Worth: 4/5, servings are good for price, but appetizers were overpriced. Will always be upset when chips and salsa aren't complementary at a Mexican restaurant (slight joke) big enough to share or take home! Food: Well plated, delicious and good menu! Number of vegetarian options as well. Service: very attentive, fast and kind. Our server knew everything on the menu and answered any questions regarding the specials!

Yelp
Alambra Mixto: PERFECTION. Perfdctly seasoned, cooked, and prepared. Look no further than this dish. Ceviche: your typical ceviche but with an added touch of spice from those peppers. Have water nearby! Order pretty much anything and everything. Ask for Mitch to be your waiter because he was awesome and gave great recommendations.

Yelp
Exactly as I hoped!! Creative Mexican food in a perfect setting. If you want standard everyday Mex don't come here! I had the Enchiladas Espinacas-- spinach, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, poblano cream with asadero. It's really nice when you can have something you've never had before. Excellent service and extremely comfortable Mexican atmosphere. Go.. you won't regret it.

Yelp
What a great find we had on Tuesday night. Love the atmosphere and the ability to have a taste of San Antonio's t-mex without having to go to the Riverwalk. Its sitting area is outside and inside and we got to experience both. Our table was in the back inside part but was right at the beginning of the outside. The night was beautiful and the festive lights bring a cozy feel. The decor made you feel like you were in someone's home for dinner. The food was good and our waitress was super nice and helpful. Definitely a place I will be recommending people to visit when in San Antonio.

Yelp
We had a reservation at 6:30. They seated another party at our table, so we needed up waiting until 7 before being seated. The front hostess didn't seem to care very much about the mix up, but once we were seated they brought us two appetizer plates that were fantastic. The food was amazing, the patio was perfect and we ended u having a good time. Also, the drinks were incredibly fresh!

Yelp
Made a last minute reservation on a Sunday mid morning. Service was prompt. The server explained the specials and gave some recommendations. He checked back a few times on us. The restaurant was spacious and appeared to have outdoor seating as well. There are multiple parking lots nearby for free parking. It was busy throughout the several hours we were there so I would recommend a reservation. The food we ordered was an elevated Mexican. It was tasty
