"While it may be one of the lone non-Italian establishments on College St., it knows cheese better than anyone else. Now in its 11th year, La Fromagerie sells a dizzying array of cheeses from France, Quebec, Ontario, England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Corsica, and Greece. You name it, they probably have it. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about their products and will give you their full and absolutely undivided attention when helping you find the right pick for your meal or party; a high level of service we haven't experienced in many places outside of Europe. They also carry specialty breads, oils, vinegars, and meats to suggest perfect pairings and unlock the cheese's full flavour." - Sid Lee

It’s a tiny cheese heaven! There are so many selections of cheese from France. A gentle man offered me some sample of cheese. I didn’t try anything today, but I would come back to get his recommendations next time.

Ah, this is a fantastic cheese shop with a wide selection from France and Quebec. The owner was very nice and knowledgeable - helped me choose, and provided samples. The Brebirousse d'Argental from Lyon made with sheep's milk was pure decadence!! Treat yourself.

Robert is a true gentleman and extremely knowledgeable about his product. He will recommend some delicious lesser known cheeses and give informed advice about how to serve. I love his excellent cornichons. The pastries are fresh daily. This charming little cheese shop is a jewel in our stellar neighbourhood.

My local favourite for service and expertise! Great variety of unique and rare rotating cheeses from France and Quebec. Simply phenomenal, this place should be your first stop for any cheese board when entertaining guests or having a picnic.

Service was not so good. The mister behind the counter was not so friendly to chat even though we spoke French. We knew what cheeses we wanted, and we felt like we were burdening them by buying it.
They have selections of cheeses from France that is hard to find here, but we bought the 24mo comte and it was extremely stale and dry. You are also paying 3x the price you would pay in France (I understand there is import fees to get this to Canada) but the quality of the cheese is lacking. If I am paying extra for cheese from France, I would expect it to taste like it does in France.

Picked up some lovely cheeses here last night. The Normandy soft cheese was wonderful. The cheddar hit the spot with my kids. I picked up some lamb merguez too and I’m excited to try them . Very helpful gentlemen

Yelp
My favourite cheese shop. The owner's wonderful, knowledgeable and loves his work. In my dreams I shop here every night after work.

Yelp
I love stopping by La Fromagerie and treating myself to some amazingly fresh, flavourful cheeses that you can't find at the grocery store.
They have a huge selection of cheese that is largely from Quebec, including some organic raw milk cheddar, chevre noir and other pasteruized cheese. They also have a few different local cheeses from Ontario, including a raw sheep's milk cheese and some classic aged cheddars.
From the imported selection, my favourites are some of the chevres from France, including Clochette (which is about $19), and the Applewood Smoked Cheddar from England, which is a little cheaper - a large triangle piece cost about $7.
The store also carries olive oils, vinegar, jams, specialty crackers (including gluten-free), and olives. I bought a container of large, pitted green olives from Spain for about $2. Their baked items are brought in daily. The loaves of bread and baguettes are from Thuet Bakery and the croissants and danishes (which look amazing) are from Pain Perdu.
The girl who works at the front counter is also very friendly! She will even let you sample the cheese to help you decide.

Yelp
Now, I like cheese. I also do not think cheese should be used as a status symbol, cuz frankly, that's ridiculous. I like to eat it, not brag about it.
I was so beyond excited when this place first sprouted up in my neighbourhood, but soon realized that it really did not have much for my humble (read: empty) pockets to enjoy. Yes, the olives and little chunks of feta were great to have so close by, but most of what I really wanted to get my hands on was pretty out of reach. It doesn't matter. I still find it rather lovely, with its tented window and delicate pastries and smelly (I mean this in a good way) dairy products.
Find instant class in "rose hangover drops" or try out the tubes of something called "vanilla chestnut spread" by the counter.
"What's this chestnut spread?"
"It's made out of chestnuts."
"Mm...what do you mean?"
"You know, like Nutella?"
"Ohh, so its like hazelnut spread. Good."
"Kind of...only it tastes different."
"Ah. Like chestnuts?"
"...Yeah."
Blame my inability to contain the excitement in discovering something interesting-looking was finally vanilla flavoured (as opposed to chocolate, which I don't like). That, or the fact that I hadn't slept.

Yelp
Small place, but still has a nice selection of cheeses. Friendly service, and for someone that isn't a huge fan of croissants, I absolutely love their raisin croissants.

Yelp
If you're looking for a delicious and flaky almond croissant but don't want to venture into the obnoxious stretch of Little Italy to find it, head to La Fromagerie. Make sure to bring a friend/food-chaperon along with you, one who has promised to hurt you if you try to make a break for it with that easy-to-carry croissant basket in tow. Trust me, you'll feel your animal instincts kick in when you taste those bad boys.
Tip: Since they place their pastries in the window, they sell out quickly, so go early to avoid gut-wrenching heartbreak.
I've heard complaints that the owners are snobby grumps... I've never had a problem, but even if I had, it's College & Oz, who cares!
This can't be a complete review without mentioning the cheeses: They sell cheeses. I've never bought any.

Yelp
Great cheese (and you can taste it first too), great merguez (when they have it) and great croissants (again, when they have them). They run out quickly of the good stuff. Why don't they order more? More than once I've been by around 9:30 or 10 and they had already run out of all of their croissants (which they get from elsewhere). Baguettes are good as well but Chabichou makes them fresh and on-site. Chabichou's cheese however... is sometimes too ripe. La Fromagerie's cheese is always fresh!

Yelp
This place a true neighborhood gym. The cheeses are amazing at you can sample all of the cheeses to make sure you will enjoy them and even learn lots of the technical details about cheese. There are also delicious croissants and baguettes.

Yelp
Great place to grab some cheese and baguette. The owner was very nice. You can get small samples or simple slices of cheese if you do not want to purchase a large quantity, as well.
