5/20/25 - Review update: Wow, a friend of ours left a complaint on their Instagram page and when she asked why they deleted her comment, they blocked her. No wonder Erin, their bartender, has that stank attitude. Because they clearly don’t hold their employees accountable. 5/3/25 - Review update: Although I didn’t plan on coming back, we stopped by because our friends were having dinner there and asked us to come meet them. I had already eaten at home so I was just gonna have a drink. Rather than being greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile, I was greeted in a cold way. Erin, the bartender, was clearly upset about my review from a couple weeks because that’s the first thing she said when we were gonna order drinks. “I remember you. YOU left that review”… with an annoyed look… which was pretty awkward, rude and unprofessional, in my opinion. Even my friends felt uncomfortable. Maybe they had an off day when I visited the first time, but that’s clearly not how you greet a customer. I feel like if a customer didn’t have a good experience the first time, wouldn’t you want to make their experience to be better? Wouldn’t you want them to have good opinions and thoughts on the service and establishment??? I’m sure she will also see this review, but we will definitely not be returning after that experience. 4/22/25 - Recently saw a a post about a spicy margarita at this place and wanted to come check it out. Stopped in the other evening. It was not busy at all. There was a table in the corner when we arrived that had 3-4 people and 1 other person sitting at the bar top. It took awhile for the bartender to bring us waters and menus. It also took her awhile to come back and take our orders. We ordered 2 cocktails and the shrimp ceviche tostada that was on their special for the day. Drinks were good but the margarita did not taste or feel like it had any alcohol in it. The shrimp ceviche was okay, a little bland. Cute spot but not sure if we'll return. Service and food/drinks were just subpar...

I was very excited to try the tacos from here after hearing about this newer pop ups connection to Tommy O’s. The atmosphere and service were okay, nothing write home about. We ordered two different types of tacos the Kalua Pork and done Beer Battered Fish Tacos. Both types completely fell apart in the soggy tortilla shell so you could not pick them up. But the Kalua Pork was delicious. Nothing about this place wowed our group.

Fantastic food packed full of flavor and absolutely ZERO skimping! They even have an AMAZING bartender named Erin that is incredibly talented, super kind, & attentive. This is a restaurant that you should not miss at all costs!

Came just at the start of lunch on a Saturday. It was empty when I walked in but the wait staff were still attentive. I sat on the front window which was a lovely spot to get some sun, I had a delicious mocktail and the brisket tacos and both were superb. I also found the meal fairly affordable, total came to around $20 per person.

La Frontera is only about four months into their operation as of this review, but let me tell you, I believe we have a winner! We went on a Thursday and enjoyed some half price margaritas! I had a spicy lime as well as a blueberry and both were fantastic! Well balanced drinks with just the right amount of tequila kick and spice on the backend. The bartender was a cool, confident lady with some swag! And not in a cocky way by any means! Just good at her craft. I also took the opportunity to inhale, I mean politely enjoy a couple of entrees. The nachos were crispy and loaded with kalua pork. The beer battered halibut fish tacos were bursting with flavor. What more can I say? Get your butt downtown and check it out!

Do not miss out, Frontera has a very hip vibe without being too “trendy” Attentive waitstaff, bartenders that know how to mix a drink and the food is amazing. Specialize in tacos with homemade tortillas but don’t pass up the calamari steak and fish & chips

I recently had the pleasure of dining at one of Vancouver's newest establishments, La Frontera, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The brisket tacos set the stage with their perfectly seasoned, tender meat, balancing flavors that immediately charmed the palate. However, the nachos were truly a revelation, deserving the accolade of “heaven on earth” with their rich, layered toppings and crispy perfection. La Frontera created quite a stir within my family. My daughter was particularly delighted, teasingly expressing her displeasure at having been kept unaware of what is now her favorite dining spot. Equally enthusiastic was my son, who could not get enough of the fresh, homemade corn tacos, savoring every bite with enthusiasm. This establishment stands out not just for its impeccable food. For anyone in Vancouver seeking an outstanding dining experience, La Frontera is an absolute must-visit. You won’t regret indulging in its exceptional offerings.

We came in on a Friday night and started off by ordering the house margarita. My husband and I took one sip and couldn’t drink any more of it because it was SO tart - tasted like straight lime juice. We sent it back to the bar tender explaining how tart it was and his reply was “well I don’t drink”, he added some agave and gave them back. Tried it again and it was still undrinkable so we just sent them back. Super disappointed to go to a Mexican restaurant and not be able to have a descent margarita. We didn’t order another drink because we lost faith that he could produce a drinkable cocktail. It must be an issue with just this bar tender because I’m seeing other good reviews about cocktails. But don’t put a guy who doesn’t drink or know how to make cocktails at a bar on a Friday night. He was also on his phone behind the bar most of the time, not paying attention to anything else. Luckily our actual server was very professional and nice. We ordered the brisket and halibut tacos and chips and salsa. All the food was pretty good, but I can’t wrap my head around their pricing - $14 for two tacos?? I was very excited and hopeful for this place because downtown Vancouver needs some more Mexican restaurants, but I think I’m gonna stick to Little Conejo where the drinks are better and tacos are a little cheaper. I really want them to succeed but I’m not optimistic that they’ll be able to stick around.

Yelp
First time, absolutely the best halibut $ coconut shrimp tacos ever. The pineapple salsa verde is excellent on these tacos is very unique, Yummy! Cocktails were very good as also the service...pricing is very fair for the quantity & quality you receive...can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Food and drinks are very tasty, but incredibly expensive!! Spent $13 on 2 tiny tacos that had me walking away still hungry. Had the Coconut in the Lime drink ($14), which was also tiny, but delicious. All in all, a very expensive ($50+ including tip) lunch. The service was good and so I made sure to tip 20% especially since I also overheard that the staff has to pay for their own meals when on shift. Probably won't return based on these prices alone.

Yelp
The food was so good, the drinks were great, the restaurant is clean and nice and the service was great! Definitely a must try. Got the beer battered halibut tacos and a few other stuff on the menu, the drink "lime in the coconut" sooo good.

Yelp
I am loving the vibe at La Frontera restaurant. Warm and colorful with super friendly staff. We sat at the bar and were greeted and served immediately. Surprisingly, we were told it was their secret soft opening. We ordered a gin martini with a gin not usually found at most restaurants, Gray Whale. The martini was delicious and served exactly as requested slightly dirty. We also ordered a Beer Battered Halibut tacos. Two Beer-battered fresh halibut with cabbage, grilled pineapple salsa, and jalapeño-cilantro sauce on flour tortillas. Flavorful, DELICIOUS and big portions.

Yelp
The food was not bad, but not very good. The service was mostly good. Overall, the mediocre food isn't worth the price.

Yelp
This place is so fantastic!! Best tacos downtown by far (doing Woody's proud). And Erin makes really great drinks up and down her cocktail menu. If you haven't tried this place yet, check it out and enjoy!
