"Moored on the banks of the Adour, this former bargemen's inn is said to be over three centuries old. It still proudly boasts its spruce white façade with the characteristic red shutters of the Basque Country and an interior with its cachet intact – stone flooring, exposed beams and an open fireplace. Even the original fish counter and the hooks for drying the fish are still present and correct. This restaurant, which for 30 years was run by famous Basque chef Christian Parra, now has Stéphane Besse at the helm. Very local ingredients are the foundation of his fresh, colourful cuisine; the fishermen, duck and lamb farmers, the baker, the ceramist (who designed the plates) are all from the village." - Michelin Inspector
It’s good, not pretentious, and the staff are friendly.
We got the steak and it’s a solid portion and pretty good meat, though it did need a bit of salt and pepper.
Can’t vouch for the other items on the menu

Superb food. Portion size as to be expected with cuisine of this standard. The tastes were unbelievable. Turns out the owner worked for Roux brothers in Michelin star restaurant in London.
Food was of Michelin quality - but without the pomp or price.
Exceptional value for the quality.

Visited with a colleague for dinner on a Friday night and was not dissappointed. It turns out that Stephane Besse (Chef who runs it with his Spanish wife) was trained at some time by the Roux brothers and he hasn't wasted any time in showing diners that he learned something with them.
The menu was small but perfect offering an excellent few dishes for fish, meat and vegetarian. I had a steak tartare followed by a fillet of lotte. Both were presented beautifully and tasted delicious.
Stephane has good taste in wines. We had a bottle of Haut cotes de nuit with our main courses which at €33 was good value and with our pudding they opened for us a Sauterne which showed off the dish well.

Truly outstanding. Food presentation was art-grade. Very tasty, better than I've had in years. Prices decent. Staff very attentive and friendly. It was supposed to be just a lunch, but turned out to be one of the highlight events of the summer vacation. Thanks! :)
