La Gelatiera - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Waffles, pastries, cakes, and ice cream are all available for delivery from the Stratford branch of La Gelatiera - we’ll take a pint of the basil and chili gelato, thanks for asking. One of the many good things about ordering from here is that they’re donating 20% of proceeds to NHS frontline staff. Order here. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

This place has a male staff member who mocks and disrespects customers right in front of them. We are Asians and not fluent in English. When asked if we needed anything else, we accidentally responded with "Yes, that's it." instead of "No, that's it." He immediately mocked our words to another staff member right in front of us, laughing and imitating the way we spoke. Was that really necessary, especially to foreigners? At the very least, he could have waited until we left. We felt extremely uncomfortable and offended by his behavior. Proper staff training is clearly needed.

Delicious ice cream in massive portions. I was recommended by a friend and she was completely right. The usual vegan sorbets but also interesting nut ice creams like pistachio and almond. Presented beautifully and served quickly - sitting in the park opposite licking my ice cream I felt like a kid again

I don’t usually leave reviews but I had to leave this one. First of all this place has the best gelato in London! And second of all, we were served by an amazing young lady this evening. She was very kind and helpful, particularly to our neurodivergent daughter. It was really nice to receive this sort of service. A big thank you and we will be back!

With an extensive selection of ice cream flavours, this is a good place to indulge in delicious ice-creams and desserts. During my recent visit, I enjoyed a medium cup with three flavours. I got a scoop each of the mint chocolate chip, Oreo and the sea salted caramel flavours.

Google
cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. i would advise to go during the early hours as me and my friend went during the evening and there were a very limited number of ice cream flavours to choose from. i recommend the hot chocolate float with hazelnut chocolate ice cream, the ice cream melts perfectly and compliments the richness of the hot chocolate well.

A walk for some proper ice cream here did not disappoint. I had peanut butter with chocolate pieces and salted caramel scoops. Partner had the basil and chilli. We were both delighted. Debated about buying tubs to take home but couldn't quite come to terms with spending £15 per 400g tub, so will stick to it being a little treat now and then!!

Good ice cream, good quality. The dairy free are pretty good. Took the small cap with two flavours, Pistachio and Chocolate, both were pretty good. Service was very slow, and ice cream is pricey. There are plenty of seats around to chill and enjoy . Enjoy :)

Terrible! This is the first time eating La Gelatiera after a few years. I tried the oreo, it was like sludge, melted, I couldn't see any inclusions. This should not be served in the condition it was, it was almost a liquid. The vegan pistachio wasn't flavourful. I opted for the cherry amarena and my partner had the salted caramel. The cherry amarena was overpowered by the taste of cream and the cherries were bland. The salted caramel was slightly more flavourful but again had a residual overpowering cream taste. This used to be one of my favourite gelato spots when I had it in Covent Garden but this was incredibly poor. I was really disappointed hence the review. It seems like the company has skimped out on ingredients and inclusions. The staff also need to be trained better. The place was dirty, needed a clean and the products weren't being looked after correctly. My cherry had lots of green dots inside, which I am assuming was the pistachio. The staff aren't cleaning the spatulas properly and they are cross contaminating.

Yelp
I must admit that I was skeptical about this place not having been to their other location, my fear being it would be fairly standard fare as far as the flavours go, but that subsided from the very first visit... now I'm nearly scared to walk by as I'm not certain I would have the willpower to stay away... 0% chance on a nice day, and only a slim chance on a rainy day in all honesty! I'm a fan of crazy flavours, and on many guys these guys do not disappoint... there is a coal based citrus flavour (actually quite nice), a divine stilton flavour (much better than it may sound!), and a porcini mushroom flavour I've heard much about (but haven't been lucky enough to try), and everything in-between. To be honest my only gripe with the place thus far is when they don't have an off the wall flavour available on a particular day, since the flavours rotate through quite often. They do have normal flavours, so no worries there for the less adventurous (book, don't go here for vanilla!), and some that straddle the line such as dark chocolate with chilli... they also have a decent number of lacto free options, and I believe some gluten free options upon request. The prices may seem slightly steep when you see the cup or cone sizes versus price, but trust me... they pack the suckers in! Honestly £5 for a large, with up to four flavours towering over the cup or cone, is just at the impulse buy point (hence no willpower walking by)... if all else fails pop in with a friend or partner and get a large to split, instant bargain! :) Besides, this is London so nothing is that cheap... and the quality here is just unmatched. I haven't had anything aside form the gelato as of yet, but they do some very nice looking deserts and I can only imagine their freshly made waffles with gelato would be awesome on the right morning... I'll even allow vanilla for such a thing. ;-) So thrilled to have these guys opened just in time for what is hopefully a decent spring/summer... pop in and enjoy! (PS, they do accept cards and are open pretty late on a Friday and Saturday.)

Yelp
Fairly elegant place in a cosy square, nice selection of inviting flavours. Unfortunately the icecream we tried (Sicilian pistacchio and orange and rosemary zest) was pretty average, very sweet with mild taste. The price is really out of scale, 3.20 £ for a scoop. Definitely too much for this quality. If you want to exploit Italian branding, at least improve the quality.
