A Beverly Hills fixture blending Italian comfort and steakhouse swagger—think BBQ beef ribs and pasta—La Gondola appears on Time Out’s kosher roundups and draws a cross-section of LA’s kosher diners for anniversaries, business dinners, and out-of-town family meetups.

I am in shock at how bad this was… My family and I dined in for dinner, and it was ridiculously loud, to the point where we couldn’t hear eachother speaking from across the table. We were a party of 5. We couldn’t hear our waitress… The food was WAY over seasoned and just not good. I would not recommend. One and done visit. I am not one to complain through a review, but boy was this bad. And EXPENSIVE! Their bbq ribs used to, as their menu states “speak for themselves”, but trust me they have managed to mess that up. DROWNING in a sauce you can’t even taste let alone enjoy the meat. *you can almost get a feel for how loud it is from the sizzling mushrooms video - the mushrooms were just awful.

The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Our dishes were flavorful and arrived promptly. Our server Freddy was generally attentive, but unfortunately had noticeably bad breath, which detracted from the overall dining experience. A bit more attention to personal hygiene would make this all five-star visit. Otherwise, we enjoyed our time and would consider returning.

I'm not usually one to leave negative reviews, especially in the restaurant industry, which I know is incredibly challenging.... but unfortunately, our experience here was deeply disappointing. The food was shockingly bad: the kids' chicken fingers were overcooked, and my own chicken dish was equally unappetizing.... I was genuinely excited to try this place after hearing about it for years, and we finally made a point to visit on this trip. While the prices are on the higher side, which I have no issue with when the food and service match the cost... neither lived up to expectations. On top of the poor food quality, the service was terrible as well :( I'm baffled by the amazing reviews and following, and maybe we just caught them on an off night. Still, for the price we paid, the overall experience was unacceptable. It’s a beautiful restaurant, and I truly wish them success, but I can’t overlook how disappointing our visit was...

I had my birthday dinner here tonight with my husband. The kosher food was scrumptious, the portion sizes generous, and the presentation lovely. The service was excellent and the atmosphere lively but not too loud to have a good conversation. The food was served quickly and was hot. I had the Chicken Marsala, which was really delicious. My husband had the mushroom-onion burger. We shared dishes. The meat was quite tasty. We both enjoyed ourselves immensely. Special kudos to our very friendly and accommodating waiter, Elias, and all the support staff.

Once we knew we would be heading to the greater LA area for midwinter vacation this year. I asked all my West Coast friends about what the hottest restaurants were on this side of the world. Across the board the response was La Gondola. So out first full day in LA we found ourselves at La Gondola for dinner. I didn't really want to go for a very heavy dish like a 32 ox. steak so we decided to try a bunch on entrees and some drinks. As I walked in, I was surprised at how big the restaurant is. Jonathan greeted us at the door and wished us happy anniversary. Their attention to detail was astounding. Each table has a small menu with the specials of the night with appetizers, entrees and desserts. Their menu was very extensive with several pages full of options. We started off with two drinks. One called the Trio which had mango, strawberry and pina colada. It was non alcoholic and my daughter LOVED it. I got a really cool drink called the smoke show which came under a glass dome and had been smoked. It was quite the presentation. The drink was made with passion fruit and lime juice with some tequila. It was smoked with some oak wood. besides being nice to look at it tasted AMAZING. The drink is usually a little spicy and made with jalapenos. For appetizers we started with the spicy tune crispy rice. I have been salivating about these on Instagram for the last few months and was very excited to finally get to try it. They were as amazing as expected. Fresh fish with amazing sauce on top of crispy rice. The textures blended together and made for an umami of flavor. Then we had the candied beef bacon, with a mango chutney on the side. Now the bacon was crunchy and delicious. I expected it to be overly sweet and was surprised that it wasn't, which made it all the more enjoyable. Next was four crispy bacon chicken sliders with a slaw on a pretzel bun. These were delicious. Four perfect mouth bites where each ingredient blended together. We also ordered the highly acclaimed Goldola Street Corn which was whole charred corn with chipotle mayo tajine cilantro and vegan parmesan cheese. I have had a lot of corn rib dishes, and this one is up there. We also tried the Beef Tinga Roll with chipotle mayo. It was some amazing shredded beef with chipotle wrapped in a crispy eggroll skin and a side of chipotle mayo. It had a little kick to it and I really enjoyed it. The eggroll skin was coated with some fine powder of spices with only added some depth to the dish. After all that we just wanted to split a small main, one of the specials of the day. We decided to go with the skirt steak coffee pepper rub over a fresh corn salad with a side of chimichurri and some fries and green salad. The steak was cooked to perfection. When I ate a piece with the corn salad it gave the steak a sweetness that I never experienced before. We really enjoyed the main. To close out the night on a high note we tried another special, a dessert. We went with the passion fruit mango tart with mixed berries on the side and the creme fraiche. It was new on the menu and we wanted to try it out. We were not disappointment. The fruit flavors of the tart with the amazing crust paired with the fresh fruit "jelly" on the side was amazing. Flavors bursted in my mouth and my palate was in food heaven. Now I understand why La Gondola is so high on everyone's list. It will be on mine to, till next visit.

DO NOT EAT HERE! This place is so disgusting! They served 100% completely raw chicken that looked like it sat in a pan to toast the outside for 2 seconds. I should’ve known something was off when the “crispy” chicken was ice cold and not crispy at all. They got our whole office sick that ate different things. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE ELSE… when told about it, they said they’d let the cook know 😒.

Hello guys Wanted to share my latest visit at La gandola. Last time I was here was many years ago for my birthday which was very nice. This time around I ordered the mushroom onion steak burger and the beef wrap, each come with your choice of side orders we got regular and sweet potato fries. The regular fries were ok- nothing to write home about. The sweet potato fries were actually amazing. I’m not usually a fan of sweet potato but the crunch and flavor of these were on point. I wasn’t impressed by the wrap. I’m definitely a burger guy. The burger was great you can’t go wrong ordering a burger here. Few things to keep in mind. If you want the starter bread you should ask for it once you get there. We were sitting for a little while before we asked for it because we assumed that they would bring it out. When we did it took too long for it to come and it came after our food which kinda defeats the purpose of starter bread. Let’s talks about the service, it was OK. If you want a drink menu you need to ask for it.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with comfortable seating and their wait staff is really nice and very on it. I usually love getting the back story of how a restaurant came to be and the history behind it all and one fun fact I believe it's that La Gondola is the first to offer pastrami egg rolls way back when! Everything ordered was beautifully presented and deliciously prepared! This is a must go for anyone and everyone.

Yelp
I will preface this by saying I've only gotten Karrie out from here. I have a customer I regularly meet with who keeps kosher so we order from here. Everything we've gotten has always been fresh and delicious portion sizes are fair. Yes it can be a little pricey but it is kosher and also Beverly Hills. Customer service has always been excellent as well

Yelp
High quality kosher food. With service that I've never seen in a kosher restaurant before. I am envious of Angelinos and their access to great food and wonderful service in their kosher restaurants. I would hands downs come here again and dine on the rest of the menu. I had the duck salad and their corn appetizer.

Yelp
Lots of positive comments before coming. Seems to be an institution in this part of BH. Excellent service, bartender was creative and took care of everything we asked for. Food was okay but certainly nothing to write home about. The lamb bacon appetizer was completely overcooked. Atmosphere was nice in the bar, which is where we sat. Dining room looked a little tired. The place needs a refresh all the way around. Menu, seating, lighting, restrooms, tableware, even the glassware could all use an upgrade.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was excellent. We shared the Chai steak medium well with mashed potatoes and spinach. The service was fantastic and the ambiance is elegant. The guests were all happy and we even saw a wedding proposal.

Yelp
Good kosher food. Moderate prices . Fast service. I really enjoy the ambiance . I come here often w my family. It's a small space but it def has good energy. There is under ground parking for ten dollars. Street metter parking js availed as well but there is not too many there. They have a very good fish and rice plate. Deserts are ok too. Def give them a try if u need a fancy place for dinner

Yelp
I was at a private event last week and since they did not have a kosher kitchen, my food arrived at the table in a box from La Gondola. I wasn't expect much as it had clearly been prepared ahead of time and reheated. Think airplane food. I was so surprised. The food was delicious. It was so fresh and tasty and had outstanding texture. It was as if the meal had just been prepared for me before it was served. Keep in mind, there were 600+ people at this event. I look forward to visiting the restaurant in person. It's been way too long!! Thank You for doing it right

Eli I.

Yelp
Food is so so I owe some chow mein chicken a lot of skin instead of chicken. I don't know if I return again.

Barry O.

Yelp
One of my clients enjoys this restaurant - so when he's in town I'm happy to take him. Food last night was good, although quite expensive. Waiter was great - service very good (we arrived at 5:30 PM). One issue which continues is their 'suggested tip' amount on the bill includes the tax in the calculation. Not supposed to do that - but if you go, please do some math - and it'll save you some money.

Yelp
On Monday my family and I came to La Gandola for a birthday dinner for my uncle's 89th birthday. For a place that's supposed to be Italian kosher style the pasta was way overcooked if not reheated, and the hygiene practices here are questionable. Currently home with violent diarrhea, and battling dehydration as are two of my family members. Mine required IV fluids cause I was down 3.5L. None of us live together btw. The only thing we had in common was the duck on the menu. When I got my dish it tasted super gamey and the texture was off. I've eaten duck before at Chinese restaurants and it has a way different texture. It's delicate and fatty. This was flat out awful. They basted it with so much soy and acid and the texture was closer to turkey. I didn't have any other sick contacts nor did I eat any food outside my house prior to this. I speculate that because only the people who ate the duck got sick, it was bad. I've had to miss 3 days of work eating up my sick time. For the price I'd skip it and go somewhere else.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Upscale ambiance with refreshing drinks. Makes for an amazing night out.

Yelp
I forgot to mention in my previous review that the entrees and sides are always prepared and presented artistically. Here is a photo by Bracha Sacks-Stern of their chicken Marsala.

Yelp
If want some good meats, come here to LA Gondola, and get your grub on for a good price and all. My first time here and it was amazing. Some of the best Kosher ribs and barbecue I have ever eaten. Love the Israeli Salads and cuisines here too. Need the good veggies and salads to wash down the good meat. Lamb, beef and chicken are the selections here. Its God;s grace to eat here. Love the service and the food here. I promise I will be back for more.

Washerson J.

Yelp
Average bbq, average pasta, service ehh, ambiance ehh. With these prices I'd go somewhere else
google avatar

Yelp
I was willing to completely overlook the dirty glasses and the dirty silverware since it was easy to get fresh items once we requested. Then came the under-cooked steak & the tasteless overpriced "bacon". The worst part is the server said there was nothing he could do. We politely asked to speak to the manager. Lo & behold the manager was sitting at a table across from us eating. The server spoke to him and he came over, still chewing his food and asked us "what is your issue" with food rolling around in his mouth. This was not a good experience.

Yelp
Great food, nice vibe, polite staff, and good prices especially their lunch specials. If you go there definitely try their chicken salad and rib eye steak.
google avatar

Chaithanya M.

Yelp
Food was fresh and appealing but not tasty. The portions are huge but the food was bland and way too pricey. Ambience is good but the service needs to be improved.
google avatar

Marv M.

Yelp
The $75 ribs were dry and tough. Excellent appetizers. This is the loudest restaurant I've been in. I should have brought ear plugs. Everyone was yelling and rushing around. Outside dining looked fine. If I go again I'll eat on the sidewalk. And avoid the ribs. They ain't what they used to be. Overcooked and stringy. They service was fine until after the food was served. Then I never saw our waiter again. The warm duck salad was excellent.

Debbie H.

Yelp
The food & service were both excellent. I had B H Chicken with eggplant & Peter mushroom, onion hamburger. And of course we had banana nut cake with a scoop of ice cream. It was well worth it.

Daniella K.

Yelp
Absolutely love LA gondola restaurant. A great lunch time spot with great service and also great for dinner. The restaurant is on Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills which is a nice change and elevated ambiance than where most kosher restaurants are on pico blvd. Favorite things to order here for lunch : Venetta salad, herb salad with chicken or a crispy chicken sandwich- wow. Dinner: love the asian chicken tapas, avocado egg rolls and flatbread, sliders. For dinner I love the Nir Special pasta or a burger- this is not a typical burger...

Yelp
Do not waste your time. This place is a joke and not a restaurant. We made reservation for 5 people. Arrived on time. At table we were told they don't have enough menus at this stage. Told to wait. We asked for a bottle of water only to be told they don't have water. What a joke. They call this a restaurant without having menus and water ? The manager at desk could not explain what is going on and did not even bother to apologise and explain. The workers here are simply unprofessional and don't care. Went to Shilo 10 minutes away and what a difference. Have nothing positive to say about this place. Will never go again.

Yelp
Came in with a few co workers and was pretty excited to try something new in Beverly Hills. Ordered the Steak and Frits and I was pretty impressed by the portion of the plate. However, the chimichurri was a bit too dry and I felt like fries didn't go well with the steak. The plate nearly reminded me of Asada Fries. The highlight of lunch was their Avocado Wraps. Delicious delicious delicious. Strongly recommended.

Jay M.

Yelp
Their food was amazing! I got the pesto pasta with chicken. It came with so many different cooked vegetables too. It was delicious! My husband got a burger and loved it! Their desert was great too. Service was attentive and kind. Ambiance was calm and classy. We will come back!

Sam V.

Yelp
Amazing vibe service food and bar. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good time!

Yelp
La Gondola is my go to place for big celebrations. It is a real treat and a lovely night out experience. I also enjoy it from time to time for a work lunch!

Sam R.

Yelp
Nice classy restaurant, clean atmosphere, and good service. It's not the nicest place, it's kinda older looking, but it's still respectable and decent enough. Food was good. Hit and miss with their "specials" of the day, don't fall for that, just go for one of the classics on the menu
google avatar

Phyllis J.

Yelp
I would like to thank Nista at La Gondola for opening her restaurant earlier on a Sunday to provide a memorial luncheon for a large group of people in April. The setting was lovely and the waiters were attentive and kind. The food was delicious and all those who were able to attend commented on how special the meal was in addition to the welcoming atmosphere. Nista was there to greet me and I will always be grateful to her, Jonathan and Ben for their assistance and care.

Yelp
I celebrate my birthday there We never had bad experience like that We never got the food and drinks we ordered When we got something it's not the right one Very bad service ! Definitely never going back over there.

Yelp
The best place to eat ever, great food great staff great service. I love the live pianist and bar area, so cute. 10/10 Recommend!!!

Adi A.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The food is incredible ( beef bacon is INCREDIBLE) the portions are enormous and the staff is so nice! I was able to get away from work to take my brother to a bday lunch and this place is just down the street from my office which was perfect since it was a walking distance . We ordered appetizers which came pretty fast (although the waitress forgot to place the order for one so it came 2 minutes prior to the main course) but we enjoyed every bite of it. The only let down was that when we ordered dessert that took like 20 min which makes no sense if you see the size of the dessert menu we ordered. I'd recommend this place for sure just because the food is incredible and again that beef bacon and the roasted cauliflower is out of this world.
google avatar

Pacific L.

Yelp
Good food and fresh. The place look clean The food came fast. Amazing environment Highly recommend

Yelp
Love this place. The place is super clean and spacious. The food was spectacular, great quality. Came here with my husband and daughter, would defiantly come again!

Yelp
A jewel in the heart of Beverly Hills! This restaurant is a must eat especially the beef baconnnnn....TO DIE FOR! The owner / management are such stand-up people that care for everyone to enjoy their dinning experience! I will be going back every-time for all my occasions and next time you go say hi to the best of the management Jonathan!

Nazee B.

Yelp
Literally the worst place to eat. Fly infested, poor service, rude owners son and overpriced food. I highly believe kosher restaurants should be held to a higher standard of cleanliness when preparing food and serving it. Never going back. Flies in our food, face, and atmosphere. And to the owner/staff reading this, please note that if you say go somewhere else, best believe you deter kosher individuals from wanting to eat at any kosher restaurants ever again because you guys should not be able to run a business like this and say its high end, when in reality its trash. Also note-under age drinking occurs here. Surprised they even have a license to serve alcohol. server/owner did not compensate us with anything for the fly in our food. Owner is aware of fly infestation and has yet to do anything about it.

Queen Sentira R.

Yelp
This place is so gross! We had a pharmaceutical rep pick up lunch here for our medical office and they gave us raw and disgusting food. A bunch of people in our office got very sick. They didn't seem to care either other than to say "we'll let the cook know"..... people giving 4 and 5 stars are lying and are probably related to staff here because unless you want to get sick or possibly be hospitalized or die, do not eat here!
google avatar

Dustin N.

Yelp
Everything smelled and tasted delicious the drinks were nice and strong and very tasty The servers were kind very polite and professional I look forward to trying more dishes here

Yelp
MUST TRY ! Even if you are not Kosher this is the most delicious food in the world with a variety of culinary in different cultures all made Kosher ! They have the best event space for all your party needs. The staff makes you feel like family. The ownership is amazing their catering and set up is like a movie ! They are genies your wish is their command and will go ABOVE AND BEYOND any expectations ! Few blocks from Rodeo drive in a beautiful location. Bless you and your establishment!

Samuel A.

Yelp
I'm writing this review one day after eating at this place, sick to my stomach, and regretting I didn't puke it all out after eating there. Forget about the fact that the food tastes horrible and is served like you're a third class passenger on the titanic. It is not fresh and not clean, especially the meat we had! When it comes to making you sick, This place puts to shame the worst fast foods in America. Needless t say that it is absurdly expansive! Over $400 for two people! What a shame. How can you feed your fellow Jews food you wouldn't give to your own dog, and at such a steep price! If after treading this review, you're still considering going to this poison factory, do yourself a favor: grab a few hundred dollar bills, and eat them for dinner. It will be less painful on your stomach.
google avatar

Amir I.

Yelp
In our way to meeting the staff at RecordMyDocs.com we stopped to get lunch at La gondola. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was great. We loved the ribs and the chicken soup. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends and family that's.
google avatar

Jackie H.

Yelp
I would like to start with stating that the food is of the greatest quality but unfortunately the service is substandard. I placed an order at 11:38am and the food didn't arrive until 2:25pm!!!! COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. How far is the restaurant, you say? TWO BLOCKS AWAY. I advise all, do not order from them unless you have a pluthera of time and not hungry what so ever. Best of luck to all! P.S. the driving was super nice, apologetic and passed along my complaint to his manager. The hostess was rude, didn't have answers for and quote said, 'We cannot give you a real ETA.' Really? For a restaurant down the street? Thanks.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and I can't believe I haven't left a review yet. Let me just say that GREAT kosher food like this isn't easy to come by. La Gondola is just simply amazing. The service, the community that they have built around this place, the food, and the vibes are amazing. Every time I eat here I'm greeted really nicely and I feel welcomed. As soon as I'm seated I know exactly what I want for my appetizer. THE CANDY BACON. Crispy thin sliced beef belly that's perfectly coated in a sweet glaze. AMAZING. People come here for this!! They have a really good Cesar salad that I ordered each time. Their BBQ ribs are to die for! Full of flavor and tender fall-off-the-bone meat. Lastly, do NOT skip out on their deserts! If you haven't been here yet, definitely give this place a try!

Sharilyn T.

Yelp
My daughter and I were waiting for a friend having eye surgery a few doors down. I saw the umbrella indicating outdoor dining. I figured it was a tiny little place where you order your pre-made sandwich or salad. We were bored and not really hungry but thought, let's get a snack. I was so surprised to walk in and see a beautiful restaurant and bar. And beautiful people! We just ordered the Everything drumettes which were delicious. The ambience is upscale and comfortable. The service was excellent and Armando made us feel welcomed. I've been in nice restaurants before where I've felt rushed because we split an appetizer. Not here. I was impressed with the ambiance and service. I look forward to returning and having a meal.
google avatar

P Z.

Yelp
Went here for a bday dinner because our friends keep kosher. I have to say I was disappointed with the quality of the food. The bbq ribs were over cooked. The ribeye was undercooked and no flavor. Their appetizers were ok but it all gave me a stomach ache later. Gave two stars because the host was nice and attentive.
google avatar

Jocelyn S.

Yelp
This is my go-to kosher restaurant. The food is great, even by non-kosher standards, the atmosphere is nice and classy, and a good place to come in groups. Service is okay, sometimes hit or miss, lots of staff turnover, and often they are understaffed and slow. But we had Jade helping us last night, and she was great. Always available when we needed her help, and super patient and polite. It was one of the best service experiences I've had in my last 4-5 times dining here! Will be back again soon, will definitely be asking for her
google avatar

Lisa D.

Yelp
This has become my new go-to when the baby is sleeping in the car- they're super nice and bring the food out to the car and take the payment then. My favorite is the bbq chicken salad- forgot what it's called but it's so good and the portion is so generous I have it for 2 meals.
google avatar

Luisa C.

Yelp
Horrible service!! The worst service in all LA the host it's so rude we wait half an hour for an order that we ordered 2 hours before we arrive. You can not ask anybody. They only said that they were busy
google avatar

Nathan R.

Yelp
I got the "Bacon Guys Burger" as well as a side of fries. Given that it's La Gondola, I expected an exorbitant price. Was hoping for more of the bacon instead of a giant piece of onion. Overall, the burger was good, but lacked the reason I purchased it in the first place. Sauce was good, went light on it as I didn't want it to overpower the burger. Fries were standard, nothing to write home about. $7 for medium-large portion of fires was ok. Only reason I didn't give this 2 stars is because the staff was helpful in answering my questions and respectful, as you would expect from La Gondola, I guess that's partly why it's so expensive *shrug* I might try to get another "Bacon Guys" item from the Pop up menu in the future, but for now, I think I'm going to not pay $28.00 for a burger and fries.
