All the New Restaurants in the Hamptons | Eater NY

"An offshoot of the legendary bistro first opened by Jean DeNoyer on Madison Avenue in 1973, this restaurant, in the space that housed Redbar and then Enchante, will be run by Anthony Punnett, one of DeNoyer’s former partners, along with local restaurateur Joseph DeCristofaro. Due to open in early July, it will serve up La Goulue’s greatest hits, including the cheese soufflé, onion soup, crab cocktail salad, roast chicken, and steak au poivre. As the name suggests, it will also take advantage of local seafood." - Beth Landman

They honor the reservation time to the T. The inside restaurant is very nice looking but also extremely loud. If we did not sit outside I would not have been happy sitting inside just bc of the volume. I started off with the French onion soup and it was just about the best I ever had. My wife ordered the tuna tare tare and loved it as well. She had the Salmon as her main dish and enjoyed it very much. I asked the waiter to guide me between the rack of lamb or the steak and fries. He said definitely the steak. The steak was ordered medium rare and was cooked properly but the steak was very tough. The whole table shook every time I cut it. I should have sent it back but I was with hungry and it was getting late. Our waiter was great I wish he stuck with us for the meal and he popped in once after taking our order. The manager filled in and someone else served the plates. Service was a weak link. Nobody got the right plates. While we were eating our appetizers the person who delivers the plates came with another table mains. During dinner he came back with yet another tables mains. Valet line was backed into the street. I ended up dropping off my party and parking up the road. It was a beautiful night so this did not bother me but it might bother others. I would give this place another shot but if you charge top dollar for dinner you need to deliver better service and a steak to match. With a few tweaks this place could be great. Dinner for 2 ran $ 270 dollars. At that price I’d like to walk out totally satisfied.

“The service was truly exceptional—Tony went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. The food and desserts were outstanding, especially the chocolate mousse, which was absolutely unforgettable. Dining outdoors with soft music and fine wine created the perfect atmosphere for a romantic evening.”

For true French cuisine in Southampton, La Goulue Sur Mer which opened in July at the site of the former Enchante' and Red Bar can't be missed. Superb service, food and ambiance contributes to a wonderful dining experience!

I was pleasantly surprised last night when we went to dinner at La Goulue. This is now my favorite restaurant in Southampton. Sitting outside at sunset (in SH), attentive waiter and staff, the taste and quality of the food make the place great. Tuna tartar, Scallops and the filet were all over the top. Pretty sure you need a reservation as it seemed quite popular. We had one. Again, Best Restaurant in Southampton! Review Continued: been back again and again. Always impressed with the food and the service. And the wine. And the beer. But mostly the food. The last time I went, sat at the bar impromptu, finally had the cheese souflé. Really special! And the moules (mussels). Went well together actually. Wish I had a La Goulue where I live the rest of the year.

Absolutely incredible experience at La Goulue Sur Mer. The food was seriously impressive. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and went amazing with the mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. The dollar oysters were a steal, fresh and delicious. The beef carpaccio was very, very good and the crab dish was excellent as well. The wine pairings were absolutely on point and really pulled the whole meal together. I had seen some of the early reviews mentioning issues when they first opened, but wow, what a difference. Everything was smooth, on point, and the whole meal exceeded my expectations. Thank you for coming to Southampton and opening this restaurant. I was honestly impressed.

This is the BEST traditional French food in the Hamptons. The food is DELICIOUS. I went twice in the same week because I had to have their “homemade KitKat” again. I LOVED their duck confit, escargot and their mussels too. The beef bourguignon was a tad salty, but still great. I plan on eating here as often as I can.

Google
solid french bistro cuisine what it lacks in invention it delivers in consistency. I tried the Southampton location because the food is so exceptional at their Palm Beach location, and while it was good it was not as good as Palm Beach. The menu selection, and rich flavors and execution were just under whelming perhaps the bar is set rather high from my experience in Palm Beach . In any case it’s still a solid experience and the dishes are well prepared. the staff are friendly and well trained and the place is a welcomed addition

Tough opening night logistics and service wise...2+ hours for entrees to be served. The food was great once it did arrive! Our server was great too. I think this place has great potential once management works out the kinks of service.

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal here while visiting friends for the weekend. Everything was impeccable from the service to the cuisine. We sat outside and had tuna tartare, the scallops, and the filet. The vibe was elegant and laid back. Will be returning next time I'm in the hamptons.

Yelp
Really nice atmosphere, the addition of the outdoor dining area was great, had a very nice waiter, and apps were very good, especially the crab cocktail. But once again the big shoes left by Red Bar years ago still haven't been filled. Really long wait for food, duck was overcooked (like it sat under a heat lamp for too long, not like it was cooked that way on purpose), branzino was over-salted, had to request bread, and had to repeatedly ask for water. All kind of par for the course if it were a mid-priced/mediocre restaurant but not for one with high expectations, $30 drinks and $50 - $60 entrees.
