La Grande Salle

"Revamped from top to toe, this city-centre institution is still going strong under the aegis of a youthful family team, namely three brothers – one in the dining room (a prestigious MOF), one in the kitchen and one is a pastry chef! The contemporary culinary line-up is meticulously executed and aims to showcase the gastronomic heritage of the Gers region. Simpler fare at La Brasserie le 9e." - Michelin Inspector

The most helpful and friendly staff of any hotel I have ever stayed in! The hotel is older and showing wear, but the beds were comfortable, and our suite was huge and roomy for my family. The bistro on site was quite good, too! We enjoyed our weekend at the Hotel de France.

Stayed at Hotel De France for one night only in a large bedroom with an enormous bathroom having booked their 'Escapade Prestige' offer. Had the 'Toc Co Que Cal' menu with 9 courses for dinner. It was excellent, delicious with a variety of different foods all beautifully presented & served by very attentive staff. Someone overheard that it was my birthday & I was given a little chocolate cake with a candle on a plate decorated with Happy Birthday. A very nice & thoughtful gesture. Had a good night's sleep in a comfy bed. Breakfast had lots of choice but we were still full from the previous night's meal.

Very nice. Yes.....traditional in its decor but immaculate and nice to step back in time. Stayed in Duplex suite and worth the money. Location perfect.

My room was comfortable. The food in the hotel restaurant was good. The staff were polite and friendly. The hotel is very close to various shops, restaurants, bars and the cathedral. This is a nice hotel to go to by yourself. I think this also a nice hotel to go to with family.

Looking for a place to stay with excellent service, excellent location, as well as excellent food? Hotel de France is perfect for this. Yes the rooms will remind you of a different time, but they are very comfortable, and you will be happy to be surrounded by a beautiful town, close to shops and restaurants, where you can hear the bells of the cathedral (if you want to open your shutters!). You may not even want to go out to eat -- the Grand Salon is perfect for special dinners, and we ate at the brasserie several times because it was so delicious with very attentive service.

This review is only for the restaurant, as we did not stay in the hotel on this trip; though we have before, and would again. The food was excellent, service perfect. The atmosphere is very comfortable and friendly.

We spent one night here meeting up with friends. Our room was in need of a little TLC but for the money it was good value. A huge double bed, large bathroom with views to the side of the hotel. What stood out here was the restaurant and service.|We reserved a table for dinner and had the €45 set menu plus drinks. Service was excellent. Seven courses including a muse bouches, fish course of scallops, main course was a choice of pork or turbot but my highlight was the dessert, meringue nest with chocolate and cream center with hot apple and Armagnac sauce. Wonderful.|Bruno was a perfect Maitre ‘d taking time to give us a lesson on wine in English. A very enjoyable dining experience. Breakfast was a buffet, €10.50 each, and was a good choice of cereals, cold meats, cheese, yogurts, bread, eggs and the usual coffee, tea and fruit juices.

The Hotel de France is my absolute favourite for Sunday lunch. In terms of food, wine, ambiance and service it is truly outstanding. La Grande Salle menu with its focus on local produce demonstrates the very best la sud ouest has to offer and is a brilliant tribute to Andre Daguin.
