The 15 Best Restaurants In Key West

"La Grignote is where you want to go for a sit-down brunch involving some combination of bread and eggs. The cute French bakery has indoor and outdoor seating, alcohol options, and a big menu with benedicts, a croque monsieur, and an excellent crispy-on-the-outside, tender-inside belgian waffle. You’ll probably encounter a wait, especially on the weekends, but you can also order some stuff to go from their pastry case if you’re in a rush. It has bunch of things that are easy to eat while walking around, like a circular disk of key lime pie, a deluxe version of pigs in a blanket, and great croissants." - ryan pfeffer

Google
Hands down the best little restaurant and bakery that I’ve stumbled across while visiting Key West. The atmosphere is laid back and upbeat. The baked goods are delicious and unique, and the breakfast food is AMAZING. The salmon eggs Benedict was literally the best egg Benedict I’ve ever had. We liked this place so much that we came back three times on one vacation. It’s definitely on the list of places to visit every trip down here.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience here. The staff was extremely attentive and the food was top notch. The house quiche and lobster Benedict were both outstanding. The view of Duval St was enjoyable while sipping mimosas. Highly recommended and we will be back.

We got breakfast on a Sunday morning, there. We park ou bicycles literally next to us, and enjoyed our food. It is a small place, with inside, balcony, and covered patio, seating options. Absolutely great service, creative food suggestions. Very influencing and friendly decoration of the space. I got the orange juice and my girl got the strawberry lemonade, both were surprisingly awesome!

Google
This place was so amazing for breakfast! The Belgian waffle and Tartine were so beautiful plated and tasted great. The porch/bar road side seating was great for a breeze and people watching. Definitely a must try when visiting.

The time will come while strolling Key West when you just feel exhausted, maybe a bit hungry too, but you just don't want to miss out, not even a bit, on the city's vibe. La Grignote offers something special with a front-row seat to the city scape and excellent food whose typical fresh-bakery aroma lures you in even from a city block away. Excellent choice. I don't think you can go wrong with any dish they offer. I found it particularly satisfying that I upgraded my breakfast with croissant and avocado. And the ice latte was just what the doctor ordered for one of those hot, muggy days.

Google
We ate here for breakfast. I had the quiche Lorraine and side salad. My husband had the BLT with home fries. Everything was delicious!!! The best part, though, was the lavender mimosas!!!! 💜 oh my! The service was superb and very efficient!

Google
Cute cafe, very busy in the morning, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Nice ambience and lots of pastries to choose from. I don't have experience with authentic French food, so I can't speak to that, but to me the croissant was good and flaky. The salmon eggs Benedict was fabulous! Tasted very fresh, and I highly recommend getting an avocado with it. The coffee, unfortunately, tasted bitter to me. I didn't finish drinking it. Overall I'd recommend for breakfast.

Google
Cute little place on Duval! The portions are smaller and the prices are a little high. Food was good and the coffee was great!

Yelp
Sat on the outer porch area. Fans kept it cool and kept flies away. Ordered the Benedict over a croissant and it was AMAZING! The eggs were perfectly cooked and the hollandaise was some of the best I've had. Strong flavor and very rich. Coffee was strong which is how I like it. The staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this if you enjoy a good breakfast!

Yelp
Ordered a croissant sandwich with no broccoli and fruit side. $21 and some change although it is listed at $15 on the menu. Assumed they upcharged for the croissant and fruit which is lame. They handed me a box and the fruit...had to ask for a bag?? THEY REMOVED THE WRONG THING. They took off the arugula and left the broccoli. Such a waste of money.

Yelp
Come early because there is a line. Although you can go and order your coffee and get a pastry to tie you over until you get a table. It's a busy place, what I can I say. Very casual atmosphere. Hubby got the American plate and they gave plenty of crispy bacon. He ate everything. I got the ratatouille since that is not something you normally see. I make my own but theirs was pretty good with the pastry although some of the pastry gets a little soggy. Didn't care too much for the egg. The latte was delicious. Light in coffee flavor and didn't make me jittery. Also had to try their honey cake which is like several layer of very thin cake with cream in between. It was good but definitely sweet so have some tea with it or black coffee. Overall a good meal.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service was quick and friendly. We sat at the bar area looking out on the street. A little pricey but not overly so for the area.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in here for lunch and really enjoyed it. My husband had the veggie sandwich and fruit. I had the chicken pesto sandwich on gluten free bread and chips. Really good. Fresh iced tea and nice environment. Staff was very kind and fast.

Yelp
Out of the few places we ate in Key West, this was by far my favorite. The French toast was incredible, but we were both really impressed with the side of bacon and smoked salmon. Price was just a little steep, but comparable to everywhere in Key West. Service was lacking slightly, but they were busy and it could have been a one-off thing.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast restaurant when visiting Key West! Service is friendly and I love the baked goods. There's also a nice variety of gluten free items. The eggs Benedict on a croissant is delicious. I always get a side of breakfast potatoes too. It's usually pretty busy so come early or be prepared to wait a little.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was a small sit down breakfast and brunch cafe. The staff there were awesome, very friendly, and on top of drinks. There aren't too many tables, so if you happen to walk by and see that there is one available, I recommend getting it. The bacon here is delicious, it's not over bearing, and it has a great crunch. The potatoes are very tasty, slightly crispy, and well seasoned, these paired nicely with the hot sauce on the table. The Belgian Waffle, oh man, it was superb. It was crispy, spongy, and sweet all in one. I really recommend eating here.

Yelp
Quaint little breakfast / brunch spot. About a 15 minute wait but you could go in and grab a coffee or drink and wait out front. Small place so seating is very limited. We sat at the bar out front overlooking duval. Service was fine. The ham and cheese panini on multigrain bread was good. Nothing overly special, but the bread was fresh. The chips side was just regular old chips. The fruit was good and fresh off the wife's plate. She had the BLT. The "L" was wilted. Assume they toasted with the lettuce on it. Crispy lettuce is key for a good BLT. Didn't have any pasties but they say they are made fresh everyday and if you are gluten free, they had a good selection of options.

Yelp
Our absolute FAVORITE! We were in Key West for vacation and went here for breakfast 3/4 of the days of our trip! The food was so incredibly fresh. The best salmon I've ever had! We got mimosas and coffee and they were both delicious too! The owner was incredibly kind and it was a nice touch to hear she was from our hometown. We got engaged right after our last brunch here, this will forever be a special place to us!

Yelp
On a cruise to the Bahamas and stopped at Key West as our first port. Came across this place while walking around and found some excellent sandwiches and Gluten-free bakery items. And kudos to the staff who, after taking our order for a sandwich with a gluten free bread substitution - they realized that the SAUCE on this particular sandwich was NOT gluten free. Very much APPRECIATE the catch and the professional way in which they handled it all. Highly recommended if you're looking for a high quality place to get a delicious bite to eat and service that is exceptional. Be sure and try the Chicken Pesto Sandwich! And the bakery items!
google avatar

Yelp
What an amazing place! It's small but mighty. The service is quick and friendly but the food is exceptional. I had the goat cheese and roasted tomato quiche. Sublime. My husband had the lobster Benedict which he swears is the best he's ever had. I highly recommend this cozy, beautiful space and hope you enjoy it too!
google avatar

Yelp
Good place for brunch takeout. Sausage is delicious. Good dessert. Expensive. $70 for 2 plates and 2 pastries. Not included tip.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely hands down the best breakfast I have EVER had. My girlfriend and I went on a cruise and have a day in key west and just looked up a good breakfast places. I didn't know key west was hiding the greatest brunch cafe in the world. We started with a latte and an ice coffee, I'm not really a coffee drinker and this place made me wanna become one. Delicious and freshly made. We both got the American breakfast and split the Belgium waffle, they were know for their waffles and let me tell you, top 5 food I ever put in my mouth. The American breakfast eggs, bacon, and THE POTATOES. Cooked perfectly . So incredibly impressed 10/10 recommend!!!
google avatar

Yelp
We were able to walk in and snag a table. Awesome options and great service. Food was good! A lot of bakery items to go as well. And always love a brunch cocktail to start the day!

Yelp
Came here based on a recommendation. No reservations. Very popular place to Have breakfast. They most clients efficiently. Food was good and bakery with many options. Service was ever attentive and quick once we sat. Lively ambiance with even some f Good music as background vibes.

Yelp
This is a really cool restaurant! It has the vibe of Key West and the service is excellent. We were seated promptly and our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered our food- I had the quiche Lorraine and it was delicious. My mom had the almond croissant and it was delicious. The other entrees looked good too. The owner, Denis took his time to converse with us and tell us a little bit about himself. This cafe is worth the wait time and all of the baked goods are baked in house. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.

Leonard C.

Yelp
Great service, food was fresh and delicious. We found this place while biking our last morning here. We will return on our next trip here.
google avatar

Luisella M.

Yelp
Baked good galore! Everything was so fresh and tasty and even though they were full, we didn't wait very long to be seated. They are a well oiled machine! We had the eggs Benedict and took some pastries to go and I'm so glad we did. They hit the spot after a night riding bibles and listening to live music. Great location. Magnificent food!
google avatar

Shirley W.

Yelp
Really nice ambiance. We stayed above this place and you could smell the fresh bread baking early in the morning. The coffee was really good, although I prefer a smaller cup. My husband really enjoyed the scrambled eggs. He raved how good they were. The sour dough bread was yummy. This really wasn't a place for me, but my husband loved it and they're always packed! I did enjoyed the decor and feeling of the place.

Katie B.

Yelp
Great spot for a chill breakfast, they have mimosas and amazing cold brew. Definitely recommend getting a pastry. Staff is great and accommodating to celiac
google avatar

Abby D.

Yelp
Quick and efficient staff. Unfortunately did not enjoy my food choices. I can see why the French toast takes four days to make - it is the driest French toast I've ever had. Thank god for the syrup. The Belgian waffle was plain and I find it hard to believe the whipped cream was homemade as it had a can consistency. Very underwhelming dishes for ~16$ each.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Nice little cozy restaurant. One of few open at early hours. Worth the walk. Food is good. I do with the homemade sausage wasn't dried out but the eggs were cooked perfectly.
google avatar

Kyli W.

Yelp
Great pastry! We tried the pain au chocolaté, Apple turnover, cinnamon roll (not sure it was one but I think it's what it was labeled) and some macarons. We loved the pain au chocolaté and apple turnover - cinnamon pastry was a bit over done leaving it crisp and crumbling. The macarons were hit or miss - the pistachio and vanilla were good but the chocolate and coffee(?) were quite crumbly and drier than they should have been. The coffee was burnt tasting - I guess I prefer a more mellow coffee and less acrid and harsh. But I didn't like it at all.

Amelia P.

Yelp
We ordered the quiche and the french toast. Both were disappointing. They had been nuked to rock hard consistency. The french toast was foul, burnt to a crisp on the edges and sand texture inside. The quiche seemed to have no actual egg, no structure, just rock hard crust and melted cheese. The manager was rude, the woman who seated us was rude. Avoid this restaurant. Worst meal and experience in Key West.
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
Wonderful food and kind service! We had the almond croissant, late with lavender and two croquettes madame- one on croissant and one on sourdough. Delightful. Yummy Homemade almond paste!
google avatar

Alexis O.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and quality of food. A lot of their food is made from scratch and in house which I love! Potatoes 12 hour process, ground sausage and bacon is homemade as well. Excellent options, sides, and substitutions on the menu as well!
google avatar

Cristina P.

Yelp
This was our favorite meal of our trip in Key West. We went twice on our 3 night trip. The food was fabulous especially the Eggs Benedict and the Quiche Lorraine. The quiche had a nice flaky crust and rich, flavorful filling. The Eggs Benedict was equally delicious. Make sure to order it with the homemade sausage. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, and the hollandaise sauce was very good. It automatically comes with sourdough bread which was a little bit hard to cut but I would still order!! Prices for breakfast are high but worth it. I highly recommend this bistro for a taste of authentic French cuisine in a beautiful Key West setting.
google avatar

Gio G.

Yelp
This spot never fails! The food is off the charts and I swear I promote this spot like no one's business bc the food is so on point. Our server was such a great sport accommodating 14 people and holding spots for our party. They went above and beyond for us and I truly appreciate it. The vibe is so French but at the same time with key west loving. Delish beyond! Highly recommended
google avatar

Deborah S.

Yelp
So disappointed. The sandwich didn't have a lot of meat on it. The side salad was super small and had a dollop of dressing in the middle to try and spread around to the rest of the salad. We were going to order more food however the service wasn't great and the food we had wasn't wonderful so we opted out.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Just had breakfast here. Portions are small for the money. French toast in my opinion is not as good as they claim. Super dry and one piece. Banana's Cafe and Frenchies are much better options all within the same area
google avatar

Nima B.

Yelp
Great service and food with a Key West vibe. Highly recommend trying La Grignote when in KW.
google avatar

Yani D.

Yelp
Let me start with saying the service was exceptional! Now, for the drinks, the hot chocolate was Amazing! For breakfast, I recommend the Egg Benedict on home made Ciabatta. We'll definitely be coming back here to try other items from the menu. Everything looked and smelled delicious
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I was excited to try here on our vacation, but was a little underwhelmed with our experience. The food I got was good but very expensive, adding a side of potatoes was the most egregious price I had ever seen. My husband ordered the quiche, thinking it'd be a personal size but when it arrived it was a very small slice. The food was good and the servers were nice, I liked that there was a bakery counter with beautiful pastries. Maybe next time it would make more sense to just grab a couple croissants and coffee to go.
google avatar

Cara B.

Yelp
Cute little brunch spot close to the Southernmost Point. Expensive for what it is, especially if you want to make substitutions. If you are salt conscious, definitely let them know as both the American Breakfast and Quiche Lorraine were both pretty salty. The homemade sausage has a very bacon-forward flavor and is very unique. The Crazy Lady golden ale was just okay. Still, yummy eats and quick service!
google avatar

Kateryna Y.

Yelp
A very nice place, especially if you want to have a nice and delicious breakfast with some mimosas and amazing pies and desserts) the service is good, the food is great
google avatar

Bill D.

Yelp
Stop looking at the other restaurants... this place is supreme. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks, it has it all. I'll be thinking about it long after I'm gone.

Dustin G.

Yelp
Very well deserving of its consistent high reviews. Lovely breakfast options, especially the salmon Benedict. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and the mimosas and bloody marys were very good. Honestly glad I didn't upgrade to the croissant for the Benedict...the sourdough was great! Ambiance, service, food...all top knotch!
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Amazing freshly made pastries and food! Excellent! Worth the visit. We went and have come back several times within our visit to Key West.

Yelp
La Grignote is a restaurant and bakery gem at the top of Duval Street. I have often seen a long line of diners waiting for a table. Get there early to avoid a wait. Attention to detail is evident throughout the restaurant. In addition to dining, perfect pastries abound in a large showcase for purchase. I have been there three times for breakfast, which has been a treat on all levels. Good service and Very Good food. The American Breakfast is a must to enjoy the 12-hour Potatoes. The single slice of French Toast is quite filling, and the crunchy edges may be the best part. Regular coffee is rich and flavorful, as well as specialty beverages. There is a bar seating area along Duval Street that provides local entertainment of passers-by. I would have given laGrignote a five-star rating except for the tight table seating and one restroom.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
La Grignote is a tasty French cafe on Duval. The French onion soup is worth trying. Some sandwiches are more basic than others. Here is the unusual case where the more complicated dishes are done better. I love that you can sit out on the deck. Service is quick and friendly.

Dylan D.

Yelp
Cool breakfast spot with really good eggs benedicts on homemade sourdough bread. All the pastries looked really good. Service was good not great, just a bit slow at the start. Recommend for breakfast!
google avatar

Carol G.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast on the island! I've been craving their almond croissant since the first time I had it years ago. They didn't disappoint. Staff is so friendly and welcoming- very kind and sweet to my service dog. Offered him water and served his food in a nice ceramic dish. I recommend this place to all my friends visiting the keys. We were sat almost immediately even during busy times (we went several times this trip) the sausage is the star of the show in my opinion and the Arnold Palmer hit the spot-very refreshing. When you enter you'll see them slow brewing coffee in a really interesting contraption. Restaurant is clean and comfortable. Coffee was the best I've ever had. Don't miss out on this place- certainly worth a visit. Beware the croissants are addictive!!

Lynne V.

Yelp
After visiting the Butterfly Garden, by happenstance we came upon La Grignote. I was so delighted to find that they offered gluten-free and dairy-free options. As we walked into the bakery we were greeted by Katie, one of the owners, she was making pastries and they looked amazing. She recommended one of the muffins that were gluten-free and dairy-free, it was amazing! The menu has so many wonderful choices, various Benedict's, sandwiches, muffins, pastries, coffee, and all the wonderful desserts ... everything made from scratch! Their story of how they met is so sweet; a vignette of their journey is on the back of their menu. I got the chance to speak with Katie and she is just delightful! It was kismet that we found this Key West gem. It was the perfect beginning to our 25th wedding anniversary. La Grignote will not disappoint!
google avatar

Yelp
*Best breakfast in the keys! Not always in the mood for heavy hash browns and eggs. I had a great open faced sandwich was olive oil, lemon juice and fresh pepper over avocado on toasty sour dough with the fixings! Beautiful pastry bar. NO liquor, looked to be beer or mimosas or Bloody Mary's. Definitely check them out. Service was also quick.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
La Grignote, which translates to nibbles or small bites, is a cafe- bistro- bakery that offers breakfast and lunch on upper Duval St. You can tell that everything is made from scratch. The menu goes from artisan pastries to Eggs Benedict, croque-monsieur as well as other croissant sandwiches, onion soup, salad, panini sandwiches, waffle, French toast, etc. I saw some Kouign Amann on the bakery case and I asked the waitress if the owners were from Brittany, since that pastry is very much Breton, she said the current owners bought the bakery from French bakers a while ago and along came all the recipes. Anyway, the service was outstanding, the seating choices are wonderful and the food was heavenly. The croissant sandwich and the Kouign Amann were really really good. I would recommend this bakery for anyone looking for something really authentic.
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
Don't order bacon on your croissant sandwiches unless you don't mind instant bacon like McDonald's. Service is hit or miss. Been here when it's been good. Sometimes they get busy and aren't very attentive until it's time to pay the bill, of course. Fresh squeezed orange juice was outstanding. Hopefully they start serving real bacon again as in the past. When you go here for breakfast and pay a 50 dollar bill and get crappy bacon it's not acceptable.
google avatar

Kris Y.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful! Great food, cute atmosphere, and friendly staff. We had a great breakfast and a lavender latte. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Viktoriya M.

Yelp
Delicious and strong coffee. Great timely service. I loved their honey cake that reminded me of how my mom used to make it back in Russia. Eggs Benedict on a croissant were delicious. Cute little spot and we even didn't have to wait on a busy Saturday morning
