The 15 Best Restaurants In Key West - Key West - The Infatuation

"La Grignote is where you want to go for a sit-down brunch involving some combination of bread and eggs. The cute French bakery has indoor and outdoor seating, alcohol options, and a big menu with benedicts, a croque monsieur, and an excellent crispy-on-the-outside, tender-inside belgian waffle. You’ll probably encounter a wait, especially on the weekends, but you can also order some stuff to go from their pastry case if you’re in a rush. It has bunch of things that are easy to eat while walking around, like a circular disk of key lime pie, a deluxe version of pigs in a blanket, and great croissants." - ryan pfeffer

La Grignote – A Breakfast Gem in Key West If you're searching for the best breakfast in Key West, look no further than La Grignote. This charming bakery and café delivers an unforgettable morning experience that blends authenticity, quality, and warmth. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly baked goods sets the tone. The sourdough bread is truly exceptional—crusty on the outside, perfectly soft on the inside. It’s clear that craftsmanship and care go into every loaf. The menu offers a delightful range of options, from classic pastries to hearty breakfast plates, all made with fresh ingredients and a touch of elegance. The coffee is strong and smooth, complementing the food beautifully. Service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere La Grignote is highly recommended—a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food and genuine coffee.

Walking in you immediately understand that everything done there is done properly, and with care. That sounds funny talking about food, but baked goods are topped perfectly, bread is baked to perfection and while the restaurant was definitely busy, the staff is working tirelessly to turn tables over, to get new customers seated. Not just the “staff”, the OWNER! I told him that if the owner is willing to bus his own tables, that is a formula for success, especially in a place like Key West. Now for the food! Just as I saw in when I walked in, everything that arrived on our plates was fresh and delicious. My kids raved about the bacon, and it is served as half sized. Mini bacon strips! Who knew a tiny little change would be such a hit? The eggs Benedict is light and tangy and the waffle comes with a giant dollop of whipped cream. The tables are situated so that even with the small space, you don’t feel cramped. Prices were not ridiculous, but the food and service would have been worth the price, even if they were. Upper area of Duval is a nice change of pace from the downtown vibes.

Google
My new Key West breakfast favorite. Croissant with egg, avocado and Swiss. I can recommend anything else. I loved it. You have to try it. My partner had lobster Benedict. Get there by 9 for almost no wait.

Google
Very good breakfast, good bloody mary. The mango mimosa was a little disappointing. The host was not the friendly face one would like to have greet them. Overall everything was pretty good although a bit expensive. Would definitly recommend this for breakfast.

Google
Very tasty café! We got a Belgian waffle with fresh fruit, the French toast, an almond croissant, and an iced mocha. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the iced mocha, but, even then, it was fine. No complaints! HIGHLY recommend the waffle - it was our favorite

Google
La Grignote is a simple and cozy café in Key West, with a laid-back, beach-style vibe, wooden tables, colorful dishes, and a relaxed atmosphere. The highlight was definitely the service: all the staff were super friendly and attentive from start to finish. I chose to sit outside, which was very pleasant. Inside, there's a big display case with lots of tempting sweets, croissants, and other baked goods. I ordered a Croque Madame with 2 poached eggs on top. The portion was huge, and it ended up being too heavy for breakfast. It had a lot of béchamel sauce, which made the flavor kind of repetitive and overwhelming. Wasn't that good to be honest and I couldn't finish it. It came with a small bowl of fruit on the side. My boyfriend ordered a croissant with egg and bacon, and that was excellent! The pastry was light, flaky, and crispy on the outside. The only downside was the sausage that came on the side: fried and very greasy. Overall, it was a good experience. The food had its ups and downs, so it's worth choosing your dish carefully, but the great service and welcoming, no-frills environment made up for it. I give it 4 stars.

Google
Having breakfast at La Grignote is a great idea. It’s usually busy, and you may need to wait 10–15 minutes for a table, but you can grab a coffee while waiting. We ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict with extra avocado and it was delicious. The latte was also great—creamy and smooth. The food came out quickly. Definitely recommend!

Google
Quiche apparently can be eggless. Their quiche Lorraine and I'm assuming the other ones are eggless. You get a cheese, bacon, and caramelized onion pie no egg. We are talking 8 oz of cheese. There was some much it wasn't fully melted. Allegedly, when I asked I manager about the quiche of the day was interrupting him and didn't allow to tell that the quiches are eggless. So he chose not to tell me because I was being rude. He only told me I was being rude after my husband was done with his food and I asked where are the eggs? And he told me something about how they used to have frittatas and they never sold... but if I wasn't rude before and interrupted him I would have known that. He proceeded to tell me that I was rude and I was the guest and they had rules. And no point did I raise my voice, say anything inappropriate, or swear. I took his mansplaining and let him go on about the BS of what they call quiche. I do not think an eggless quiche-like concoction can truly be called a quiche. The two of us didn't agree on this assessment. The food is awful, the service is subpar, and the staff is rude. I never asked for it to be taken off my bill. They weren't going to do it anyways, but I never did and then was mistreated. So if you like to be mistreated enjoy your meal there.

Yelp
Waffle was one of best I've ever had. Food was hot and good. Great atmosphere. Good mimosas.

Yelp
Service was friendly and very attentive. Our waitress made great recommendations and our meal was fabulous. We ate outside on the patio and the ambiance was "classic " Key West with the decor After your meal, if you have room for the Key Lime pie -- YES!!

Yelp
First time exploring Key West, and with an early start, we decided on a lighter fare because we knew we would be experiencing a bunch of the local flavors. But!!!!! First... we needed coffee. This bakery, slightly off the beaten path, but offered seating facing the street, where my wife and I enjoyed people watching while sipping on our coffee and pastry. We are out here celebrating our 30th Anniversary, and what better way to start the day with a small bite to get us going. I had an Americano, where the wife had the Lavender Mimosa. Both were perfect compliments to the incredible pastry (I forgot what it was exactly but perhaps the picture will tell you) we split. It was not sweet, but had a delicious tartness to it. It was fantastic! Thank you for the quick bite and the laughs my wife and I enjoyed while sitting street side people watching. I'll be looking for this place next time we come with friends! Thank you, and as always, Enjoy & Happy Nibbling!

Yelp
Quaint bakery and cafe in Upper Duval, a great little place away from the large crowds. Fast service, and the food was absolutely amazing. The Eggs Benedict with bacon was piled with 12 slices of crispy bacon and the egg was perfectly poached. The prices were also much better than your other breakfast/brunch places 2 blocks up Duval at the typical touristy hotspots. Do yourself a favor and grab breakfast/brunch here, and get a piece of lemon pistachio cake on the way out for a snack!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. The ham and Swiss croissant was very good, followed by the bacon and egg croissant, which was also good. They have indoor and outdoor seating- but beware of the birds and chickens.

Yelp
Excellent food, Excellent location. Excellent service. Make sure you say hello to Maggie. She has been one of our favorite people to visit when on the island. We met her at another establishment years ago and she remembers us and makes us feel like family. She is definitely Most Excellent

Yelp
Come early because there is a line. Although you can go and order your coffee and get a pastry to tie you over until you get a table. It's a busy place, what I can I say. Very casual atmosphere. Hubby got the American plate and they gave plenty of crispy bacon. He ate everything. I got the ratatouille since that is not something you normally see. I make my own but theirs was pretty good with the pastry although some of the pastry gets a little soggy. Didn't care too much for the egg. The latte was delicious. Light in coffee flavor and didn't make me jittery. Also had to try their honey cake which is like several layer of very thin cake with cream in between. It was good but definitely sweet so have some tea with it or black coffee. Overall a good meal.
google avatar

Yelp
The in house bakery is great. The full breakfasts were delicious and the tea and coffee were excellent. The ambience was beachy and welcoming. Great spot for breakfast or lunch

Yelp
We were visiting Key West, this place was recommended by a long time resident. Overall, definitely worth a visit. My wife enjoyed her breakfast with potatoes, fruit, bacon, and baguette. I didn't like the French toast, it wasn't what I was expecting, it was almost like eating a piece of pound cake vs. a piece of bread. We both loved the crispy bacon. It's a cozy space, so there's a chance you could sit fairly close to other customers. Just a note for awareness. No issues at all with the staff, they were courteous. I'd likely try again, especially since my wife liked it, but would probably be carry out.

Yelp
Amazing customer service! Bennet the owner went above and beyond! I placed an order to be delivered to my friend for his bday on UberEats. Grignote fulfilled the order, UberEats picked it up but failed to deliver to my friend despite having his address, business name, and phone number. When I called Grignote to ask if the order got picked up, Bennet offered to personally take my new order to my friend. He even sent me a picture of my friend with his lunch. It's not everyday you find that kind of service. Oh, and of course, the food is amazing too. Lesson learned, don't use UverEats. DO order from Grignote!
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
They told me the wait is 10-15 minutes. They seated another party that can after me, before they seated me. It ended up being a 40 minute wait. Don't come here if in any sort of time crunch. The food took forever. Don't order orange juice it's a rip off. When you get a delivery of subpar oranges give the juice away for free to your customers, certainly don't charge them $7 for a glass of bad orange juice. Or take it off the menu for the day. Food was a little better than ok.
google avatar

Percie C.

Yelp
Ordered a croissant sandwich with no broccoli and fruit side. $21 and some change although it is listed at $15 on the menu. Assumed they upcharged for the croissant and fruit which is lame. They handed me a box and the fruit...had to ask for a bag?? THEY REMOVED THE WRONG THING. They took off the arugula and left the broccoli. Such a waste of money.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast restaurant when visiting Key West! Service is friendly and I love the baked goods. There's also a nice variety of gluten free items. The eggs Benedict on a croissant is delicious. I always get a side of breakfast potatoes too. It's usually pretty busy so come early or be prepared to wait a little.
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
Food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. The pastries were to die for. I'll be dreaming of these when we leave.
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
Sat on the outer porch area. Fans kept it cool and kept flies away. Ordered the Benedict over a croissant and it was AMAZING! The eggs were perfectly cooked and the hollandaise was some of the best I've had. Strong flavor and very rich. Coffee was strong which is how I like it. The staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this if you enjoy a good breakfast!
google avatar

Curtis M.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service was quick and friendly. We sat at the bar area looking out on the street. A little pricey but not overly so for the area.
google avatar

Russ P.

Yelp
Quaint little breakfast / brunch spot. About a 15 minute wait but you could go in and grab a coffee or drink and wait out front. Small place so seating is very limited. We sat at the bar out front overlooking duval. Service was fine. The ham and cheese panini on multigrain bread was good. Nothing overly special, but the bread was fresh. The chips side was just regular old chips. The fruit was good and fresh off the wife's plate. She had the BLT. The "L" was wilted. Assume they toasted with the lettuce on it. Crispy lettuce is key for a good BLT. Didn't have any pasties but they say they are made fresh everyday and if you are gluten free, they had a good selection of options.

Yelp
Our absolute FAVORITE! We were in Key West for vacation and went here for breakfast 3/4 of the days of our trip! The food was so incredibly fresh. The best salmon I've ever had! We got mimosas and coffee and they were both delicious too! The owner was incredibly kind and it was a nice touch to hear she was from our hometown. We got engaged right after our last brunch here, this will forever be a special place to us!
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
On a cruise to the Bahamas and stopped at Key West as our first port. Came across this place while walking around and found some excellent sandwiches and Gluten-free bakery items. And kudos to the staff who, after taking our order for a sandwich with a gluten free bread substitution - they realized that the SAUCE on this particular sandwich was NOT gluten free. Very much APPRECIATE the catch and the professional way in which they handled it all. Highly recommended if you're looking for a high quality place to get a delicious bite to eat and service that is exceptional. Be sure and try the Chicken Pesto Sandwich! And the bakery items!
google avatar

Christy H.

Yelp
We stopped in here for lunch and really enjoyed it. My husband had the veggie sandwich and fruit. I had the chicken pesto sandwich on gluten free bread and chips. Really good. Fresh iced tea and nice environment. Staff was very kind and fast.

Yelp
We've been to Key West so many times over the past few decades, yet never heard of this place and recently when staying on this end of the island we tried it - AMAZING! They are an amazing French style bakery! They offer a full breakfast done in different styles (English, French, etc). They make great baked goods - Pastries, breads, etc. And the service was very nice. I got a couple of their amazing muffins to bring home to VA and eat over the next two days with coffee and they packed them nicely to survive the plane and still be safe, good, fresh when I was ready to enjoy them! The breakfast we had, we loved! And they have fresh-squeezed OJ!!! Overall, nice visit, great breakfast, really good baked goods - Highly recommend!
google avatar

Lulu P.

Yelp
Good place for brunch takeout. Sausage is delicious. Good dessert. Expensive. $70 for 2 plates and 2 pastries. Not included tip.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
Absolutely hands down the best breakfast I have EVER had. My girlfriend and I went on a cruise and have a day in key west and just looked up a good breakfast places. I didn't know key west was hiding the greatest brunch cafe in the world. We started with a latte and an ice coffee, I'm not really a coffee drinker and this place made me wanna become one. Delicious and freshly made. We both got the American breakfast and split the Belgium waffle, they were know for their waffles and let me tell you, top 5 food I ever put in my mouth. The American breakfast eggs, bacon, and THE POTATOES. Cooked perfectly . So incredibly impressed 10/10 recommend!!!
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
Wish there was 10 Stars to award La Grignote!! Random choice for brunch while in town for the weekend. Four of us stopped in on 9/27 and had some incredible food!!! Tried about 7 different plates between us and no food remained :)) Service by the whole staff was great, constantly checking on us to make sure everything was wonderful. Such a nice vibe as well. Beachy, rustic country feel.. loved it!!!!
google avatar

Keaton T.

Yelp
Out of the few places we ate in Key West, this was by far my favorite. The French toast was incredible, but we were both really impressed with the side of bacon and smoked salmon. Price was just a little steep, but comparable to everywhere in Key West. Service was lacking slightly, but they were busy and it could have been a one-off thing.

Billy B.

Yelp
Stopped in for late breakfast. I had the sausage eggs Benedict (excellent!), wife had the American breakfast with bacon. Both were delicious and big portions. Potatoes were especially tasty! European seating but that's ok with us. Highly recommend.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Came here based on a recommendation. No reservations. Very popular place to Have breakfast. They most clients efficiently. Food was good and bakery with many options. Service was ever attentive and quick once we sat. Lively ambiance with even some f Good music as background vibes.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
This is a really cool restaurant! It has the vibe of Key West and the service is excellent. We were seated promptly and our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered our food- I had the quiche Lorraine and it was delicious. My mom had the almond croissant and it was delicious. The other entrees looked good too. The owner, Denis took his time to converse with us and tell us a little bit about himself. This cafe is worth the wait time and all of the baked goods are baked in house. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Gabby V.

Yelp
They start off by lying and saying 5-10 mins when they really mean 30-45. I feel there are better options around that offer the same if not a better menu. Food left a lot to be desired, overpriced for what they offer.
google avatar

Aidan B.

Yelp
This place was a small sit down breakfast and brunch cafe. The staff there were awesome, very friendly, and on top of drinks. There aren't too many tables, so if you happen to walk by and see that there is one available, I recommend getting it. The bacon here is delicious, it's not over bearing, and it has a great crunch. The potatoes are very tasty, slightly crispy, and well seasoned, these paired nicely with the hot sauce on the table. The Belgian Waffle, oh man, it was superb. It was crispy, spongy, and sweet all in one. I really recommend eating here.
google avatar

Shirley W.

Yelp
Really nice ambiance. We stayed above this place and you could smell the fresh bread baking early in the morning. The coffee was really good, although I prefer a smaller cup. My husband really enjoyed the scrambled eggs. He raved how good they were. The sour dough bread was yummy. This really wasn't a place for me, but my husband loved it and they're always packed! I did enjoyed the decor and feeling of the place.
google avatar

Leah F.

Yelp
We were able to walk in and snag a table. Awesome options and great service. Food was good! A lot of bakery items to go as well. And always love a brunch cocktail to start the day!
google avatar

Abby D.

Yelp
Quick and efficient staff. Unfortunately did not enjoy my food choices. I can see why the French toast takes four days to make - it is the driest French toast I've ever had. Thank god for the syrup. The Belgian waffle was plain and I find it hard to believe the whipped cream was homemade as it had a can consistency. Very underwhelming dishes for ~16$ each.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Nice little cozy restaurant. One of few open at early hours. Worth the walk. Food is good. I do with the homemade sausage wasn't dried out but the eggs were cooked perfectly.
google avatar

Kyli W.

Yelp
Great pastry! We tried the pain au chocolaté, Apple turnover, cinnamon roll (not sure it was one but I think it's what it was labeled) and some macarons. We loved the pain au chocolaté and apple turnover - cinnamon pastry was a bit over done leaving it crisp and crumbling. The macarons were hit or miss - the pistachio and vanilla were good but the chocolate and coffee(?) were quite crumbly and drier than they should have been. The coffee was burnt tasting - I guess I prefer a more mellow coffee and less acrid and harsh. But I didn't like it at all.
google avatar

Rex H.

Yelp
Easy to locate on Duval in Key West. Quaint place with quick service, great food, and priced well. Definitely stop by for breakfast and get the croissant meal. People are very friendly and even more polite.
google avatar

Cristina P.

Yelp
This was our favorite meal of our trip in Key West. We went twice on our 3 night trip. The food was fabulous especially the Eggs Benedict and the Quiche Lorraine. The quiche had a nice flaky crust and rich, flavorful filling. The Eggs Benedict was equally delicious. Make sure to order it with the homemade sausage. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, and the hollandaise sauce was very good. It automatically comes with sourdough bread which was a little bit hard to cut but I would still order!! Prices for breakfast are high but worth it. I highly recommend this bistro for a taste of authentic French cuisine in a beautiful Key West setting.
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
Wonderful food and kind service! We had the almond croissant, late with lavender and two croquettes madame- one on croissant and one on sourdough. Delightful. Yummy Homemade almond paste!
google avatar

Alexis O.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and quality of food. A lot of their food is made from scratch and in house which I love! Potatoes 12 hour process, ground sausage and bacon is homemade as well. Excellent options, sides, and substitutions on the menu as well!

Chase C.

Yelp
For me personally, this is the best restaurant I've ever been too. I ordered the French toast, and it is genuinely the most delicious French toast I've ever had. The severs were super nice and would even turn stuff off for us. The whole restaurant felt very welcoming and when you get bored, you can just watch the TV showing how they bake their food.
google avatar

Gio G.

Yelp
This spot never fails! The food is off the charts and I swear I promote this spot like no one's business bc the food is so on point. Our server was such a great sport accommodating 14 people and holding spots for our party. They went above and beyond for us and I truly appreciate it. The vibe is so French but at the same time with key west loving. Delish beyond! Highly recommended
google avatar

Deborah S.

Yelp
So disappointed. The sandwich didn't have a lot of meat on it. The side salad was super small and had a dollop of dressing in the middle to try and spread around to the rest of the salad. We were going to order more food however the service wasn't great and the food we had wasn't wonderful so we opted out.
google avatar

Nima B.

Yelp
Great service and food with a Key West vibe. Highly recommend trying La Grignote when in KW.
google avatar

Yani D.

Yelp
Let me start with saying the service was exceptional! Now, for the drinks, the hot chocolate was Amazing! For breakfast, I recommend the Egg Benedict on home made Ciabatta. We'll definitely be coming back here to try other items from the menu. Everything looked and smelled delicious
google avatar

Olivia M.

Yelp
What an amazing place! It's small but mighty. The service is quick and friendly but the food is exceptional. I had the goat cheese and roasted tomato quiche. Sublime. My husband had the lobster Benedict which he swears is the best he's ever had. I highly recommend this cozy, beautiful space and hope you enjoy it too!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I was excited to try here on our vacation, but was a little underwhelmed with our experience. The food I got was good but very expensive, adding a side of potatoes was the most egregious price I had ever seen. My husband ordered the quiche, thinking it'd be a personal size but when it arrived it was a very small slice. The food was good and the servers were nice, I liked that there was a bakery counter with beautiful pastries. Maybe next time it would make more sense to just grab a couple croissants and coffee to go.
google avatar

Cara B.

Yelp
Cute little brunch spot close to the Southernmost Point. Expensive for what it is, especially if you want to make substitutions. If you are salt conscious, definitely let them know as both the American Breakfast and Quiche Lorraine were both pretty salty. The homemade sausage has a very bacon-forward flavor and is very unique. The Crazy Lady golden ale was just okay. Still, yummy eats and quick service!
google avatar

Luisella M.

Yelp
Baked good galore! Everything was so fresh and tasty and even though they were full, we didn't wait very long to be seated. They are a well oiled machine! We had the eggs Benedict and took some pastries to go and I'm so glad we did. They hit the spot after a night riding bibles and listening to live music. Great location. Magnificent food!
google avatar

Kateryna Y.

Yelp
A very nice place, especially if you want to have a nice and delicious breakfast with some mimosas and amazing pies and desserts) the service is good, the food is great
