Greetings From Rosé Country | Eater

"A 10-minute ferry ride from Cannes to Île Sainte-Marguerite brings you to a sprawling beachside restaurant that, even for a 25-person lunch, delivers simple, perfectly executed dishes: grilled fish and octopus, potatoes dauphinoise, burrata, delicate fish carpaccio, and a notably beautiful chocolate cake. As the lunch crowd mellows the vibe becomes playfully clubby—magnums of rosé, a DJ, sparklers in bottles and diners waving napkins—an atmosphere that feels charming and fitting in the afternoon Riviera sun." - Amanda Kludt

The 18 Best Restaurants in Cannes, France | Eater

"La Guérite is Cannes’s answer to the swanky beach bistros found in nearby Saint-Tropez. The seasonal spot (open from April to October) is a private boat ride away in the Bay of Cannes on the practically untouched island of Sainte Marguerite. Athens-born chef Yiannis Kioroglou crafts a menu that’s a mix of Greek, French, and Italian cooking, and you can’t go wrong with any of the fresh-off-the-boat seafood dishes (the char-grilled catch of the day is one of the most popular). The idea here is to sit and see and be seen, preferably with a bottle of Provençal rosé. [$$$$]" - Lane Nieset

The space is beautiful and the food is quite good considering how many tables it can accommodate. We went for a lunch, with the boat service provided by the club itself. One big down for me was that they seemed to offer this as a free service because they DID NOT specify that there is a price for it. And also they are very hard to reach both via phone and via email. As I mentioned the food is quite good - very pricey for what it is but it’s comprehensible for a place like this. I didn’t like the fact that they kicked us away from our table at some point because they had the second round of lunches. Considering how much you pay for the whole experience I would definitely recommend a better treatment for the customers.

A beautiful restaurant that turns into a beach club with fun music and people dancing everywhere. It’s exactly what you want this place to be! Lunch reservations begin at noon and by seven, the entire place is closed down. Around 4 o’clock is when the party really heats up, but getting a reservation at that time is very difficult, since people stay on their table for 3 to 5 hours. We had a very relaxing and quiet lunch at 12:30, then hung around the island and went back for drinks at the bar at 4:30. Our meals tasted great, but better to go with slightly lower expectations on food quality and service (with the potential to be pleasantly surprised). Food and drinks are fun, but you are here for the experience! Highly recommend if you have the funds.

I thought the whole experience was amazing. The food was delicious, it was well worth the price. The drinks were good but I didn’t feel them too strong I would definitely recommend buying a bottle instead. Comes out about the same price and it’s a better experience. I would say it’s more on the pricey side but you get what you pay for and this was one of the best experiences while visiting the South of France.

Food was mid. Ceviche appetizer was very small and only fish. Meal was steak (entrecôte grillee) and gnocchi. I love gnocchi but theirs tasted like the kind from Trader Joe’s…so that was disappointing. I also wish they gave a full glass bottle of soda (coke) instead of the mini ones (which are standard in USA and Mexico and a fraction of their price). Nice atmosphere, though.

As "maps" simply doesn't want to post my detailed review, I will keep it short: the party is so much fun that it's worth going. The food is really good and tasty. The only problem here is the EXTREMELY rude and arrogant attitude of some waiters and some welcoming girls. We have been bothered every single time.

FOOD WAS DISGUSTING, drinks were not good. Just get bottle service and party if you can! I hated how they FORCED us to buy food. We only were gonna party and order drinks/bottle service which we did... Just an FYI it was one white wine bottle, 3 SMALL apps, 6 drinks... for almost 700 euros... this is only 3 girls. We would've been happier with just the alcohol but the forcing of the food was annoying because we only wanted drinks AND the food was so bad. HOWEVER, I will say there are celebrities/stars that come here. The vibes are GREAT. I did love the DJ and the vibes and overall party was super super fun. Did not feel discriminated or anything it was just more of what we were getting for what we were paying for.

It’s unfortunate that I have to write this review as La Guérite was supposed to be the highlight of my visit to Cannes, however, my visit ended in being physically assaulted by a member of staff. We visited on the 15th September for a 3:30 reservation. Around 5:30pm, after having a decent time, we were ready to leave and asked a waitress (who I now know is named Andrea [pronounced with a French accent]) for our bill. It was taking a while, and we really wanted to move because pigeons were flocking to our area. We thought we would try to intercept the bill along the way and headed to the bar. Our bill was not ready so my friend reminded this same waitress as we weren’t sure if she had forgotten. The waitress - Andrea, very rudely raised her voice at my friend and said “my colleague will bring you the bill. Just wait for 2 minutes”. We were shocked to be spoken to in such a manner but just said “okay”. She walked away from my friend and rolled her eyes. I turned around to face the bar, and suddenly felt a HARD, POWERFUL and INTENTIONAL shove on my left. Which a second later was followed by a voice saying “sorry”. I looked to my left and realised it was Andrea. I was in complete shock and disbelief, I turned around to look at my friend to ask if she saw that, to make sure it wasn’t in my imagination. Another customer who I do not know said “did she just push you?!”. My friend also saw it. I immediately went to find the manager who introduced himself as Billy. He asked me which waitress it was, and when we approached Andrea, she denied it, claiming it was an accident. Billy was extremely apologetic, however I told him that sorry isn’t good enough because if I defended myself by pushing her back, I would have been escorted off the island. The push happened immediately after she shouted at my friend, and it is physically impossible to push someone that hard accidentally. Therefore, it was 100% done on purpose. There was more than enough space for her to get past me, and even if that were not the case, a simple “excuse me” would have sufficed but she wanted to hurt me. Billy offered us a free drink as compensation, but unfortunately, it still wasn’t good enough because how do you adequately compensate someone has just been assaulted?? On top of that, she went back to work like nothing happened. The customer who saw the incident went to Billy to tell him that she witnessed Andrea push me. He continued to apologise, but it was obvious that the apology was all I was going to get. My friend told him that we just want to pay our bill and leave. I was physically shaken up after the incident and brought to tears because I would never expect to visit an establishment like La Guérite and be assaulted by a waitress. It was such a helpless feeling knowing that nothing would be done. Maybe if I were famous, high profile or a high spender they would have taken the incident seriously. I hope La Guerite will take accountability after seeing this review, but the likelihood is that they will just defend their employee.
