La H Comida Hondureña Y Mas #2 - Review - East Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"The name of this tiny trailer in East Austin is approximately as long as the menu, which is mostly made up of Honduran staples like pollo con tajadas, carne molidas, and pupusas. The generous plates make for an excellent lunch or dinner, but it’s the pupusas that we gravitate toward, like dense, cheesy little planets pulling us in for a satisfying meal. The stuffing is plentiful, and the small pile of curtido adds crunch and acidity. There are only a couple of picnic tables here, so plan to make friends or get your order to go. We recommend the friends option. One, because everyone could use another friend. And two, because the pupusas are best when they’re fresh off the griddle. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Food Rundown Pupusas These come stuffed with your choice of cheese, beans, chicharron, calabaza, pepperoni, jalapeño, loroco, or shrimp, making this one of the largest pupusa menus we’ve come across in Austin. We like the revueltas, a blend of chicharrones, cheese, and beans. The stuffing is generous, and the masa shell it’s all encased in has a warm, crispy finish that goes great with the curtido. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Chicken Asada Bowl The chicken asada bowl feels like more of a casual lunch that won’t leave you wanting a nap before going back to work. The chicken is nice and tender, and we could easily eat 100 more of the fried plantains served on the side. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary" - Nicolai McCrary
