You do not necessarily believe you will find wonderful Mexican food in -Kingston. It is great food with terrific people. The prices are ok. It would be less in Co Cal, but the gasoline is less in NY. Life evens out.

Steak salad was ok. Steak a bit tough but still fine. Also had some chicken fajitas. They were also ok, the rice was very tasty! Overall good and fresh, a bit pricey.

Best Street Tacos in Ulster County!!!! I'm addicted to their chicken tacos with queso fresco and tomatillo sauce! Don't forget the home made tortillas! Not to mention they are greatful for your patronage.. This place should be more busier than it is! Show this place some love people!! 😋💜🌮

Wonderful local spot to grab a meal, great to bring kids. Lacking ambiance, but food is delicious!

Great hole in the wall restaurant. Interior isn't amazing but the food makes up for that. Friendly staff and adhere to covid-19 restrictions.

Recommended to us and we were not disappointed! Amazing authentic Mexican food with a variety of choices we never had before. All apparently made fresh in house. The staff was great, polite, friendly and dedicated. Thank you…. Their salsas rock. Try the California burrito.

There is something deeply gorgeous about everything this restaurant makes. Flavors are fresh, healthy, and brightly complex. They make you feel both invigorated and hugged from the inside by people who pour all of their love into their food. And that murky red chili sauce they give you on the side for tostadas. Oh mi madre that stuff is made for Jesus. It's unlike any of its kind I've ever had. So complex and savory and bright and herbal and also deep and...you could put it on ice cream or your dog and it would still be great. The tostadas are a sensory explosion with the crisp tortilla, the beautifully prepared meats, and the fresh veggies on top (and the SAUCE of course). The pozole was murky, deep, warming, and - I know I keep using this word - complex. I felt like I was eating food lovingly prepared just for me by my family. And the people who work there are so kind and clearly throw themselves into their food. It really makes such a big difference. I am so happy. I've found my go to restaurant in Kingston.

Unscrupulous! I placed an order on seamless and made a mistake. So I called immediately and spoke to the restaurant to cancel. Long story short - they agreed to cancel when I spoke to them within 2 min of ordering tacos. Then they sent the food and charged me anyway. Seamless said it was on the restaurant. I spoke to them twice and they just ignored me

My first time at this location visiting from California the server was polite but the service needs some work it took awhile to get a couple of tacos and had the Chicken soup and could not finish just did not look pleasant to eat and needed to be bit seasoning.

Delicious tacos with excellent green salsa and huge tamarindo drinks. Excellent service.

Embarrassing that people leave 1 star because they paid a surcharge of a dollar. What a vindictive lot our local Kingstonites can be. And the woman that prefers Chipotle? Hahaha. That said it all. This restaurant is as authentic as it gets, with fantastic staff. If you're racist because there are a lot of Mexicans and your server and cashier has a strong accent and may not speak English as well as you, I suggest you don't bother going. But you will be missing out - that is if you know how to appreciate authentic cuisine and don't expect fast food tex mex stuff.

Did dine-in service and was spaced on the opposite side of the dining room from the other table with customers. Off-street parking. The interior is a bit dated and it feels more like a take-out place but they were fast to greet and seat us. The food was so fresh and the portions are huge! Ended up with lots of lunch the next day. Excellent for the price and authentic all the way.

Amazing Mexican food. The horchata is delicious. The Mole Enchiladas are delicious. Some of the best mole I have had north of Mexico

When we walked through the door we felt like we were back in Mexico. The decor is modest and the food is authentic. They have the best tacos al pastor I have had in the USA. The chicken and steak tacos are also very good. Worth checking out.

The only reason I've rated this restaurant with one star is because of the poor customer service/relations I experienced during out last visit. First - the food is tasty, authentic, Mexican style food with and over the ten times we've been there we've always been happy and returned about once per month. Tonight, after finishing our meal, I approached the cashier's desk to pay our bill and presented my credit card as I've always done in the past. I was informed by the waitress that if I paid by credit card there would be 4% added to our charge. I informed her, and subsequently the manager (owner?), that I was only willing to pay for that which we had ordered and that when we entered there were signs on the front door indicating that they accepted Visa credit cards and when the waitress came to our table that she did not inform us of of any surcharges if we chose to pay by credit card. I explained that it if there were any potential surcharges to a bill then the customer should have been informed of this prior to placing our order. There should not be a surprise surcharge after having completed our meal. While I'm not sure if the merchant agreement allows for surcharges if paying by credit card, at the very least the customer should be informed of this prior to ordering from the menu and not at the completion of the meal upon paying the bill. I stood my ground based on principal as I'm a strong believer in customer service and client respect by merchants. Unfortunately, the management decided in lieu of improving their business and customer service practices they would lose my future business and receive yet another poor review on yelp. They've lost multiple hundreds of dollars of future revenue over a $1.20 surcharge. It's unfortunate because we really did enjoy going there...

I don't know why this restaurant only has three stars... this is delicious and authentic Mexican food!!! Mmmmmmm!!! And ps... whoever Andy O is giving this restaurant a one star review after claiming you've eaten there and had amazing food 10 x and one time was unhappy with the service... you are out of your mind!

The reviews so far don't speak the quality and authenticity of this Oaxacan-style Mexican restaurant. The salsas alone deserve 4 stars. My tlacoya was enormous, and was dressed to impress. Try it with marinated pork.

We sat there for 40 minutes and the food wouldn't come out. So we waited and after a whole hour the first plate came out and it still took 30 more minutes for the rest of the plates to come out. AND THE FOOD WAS COLD!

It's unfortunate there are so many bad reviews. Got a beef burrito and chicken tostadas to go. They were both great! Saturday night and it was slammed, the service seemed fine. I'm excited to try out delivery here. The end.

My experience at La Hacienda was horrible. The waitress was rude and the food was bland. My boyfriend and I are foodies and thought this restaurant looked good but both decided we rather eat at Chipotle. I used to be a West Coaster, so I consider Chipotle lame too.

Ordered from here for the first and last time today. One of the worst meals I've ever had. Very disappointed.

My boyfriend and I have been going to La Hacienda for about 2 years, each time the least we spend is 50 dollars. This review is not about the food because it is actually OKAY, is about the audacity the owner has to charge .75 cents for watered down Guacamole sauce! We ordered two Plato's la Hacienda which totaled to 52. 00 dollars, it was a pick up order and on the phone I asked the waitress to please make sure they gave us sauces for the food, being that on different occasions we placed the same order and asked for sauces and they weren't in the bag. This time when I opened the bag I realized that we only had one red sauce and one green avocado sauce(watered down) immediately I called the restaurant and asked the waitress why would they only give me that amount,? She lied and said that's what I told her... my boyfriend was my witness, they asked him if he wanted more he had to go and pick them up! And so he did, after the owner and the waitress blaming each other for only putting one in the bag, the owner said to my boyfriend, "if you want sauce you will have to pay .75 cents for each one.! " to be honest guys it is not about the money, more so about the fact that we have been spending our money at this restaurant for soo long we felt that her reaction was very inconsiderate. The food total was 52.00 dollars (2 dishes that feeds 4 people) I feel the sauce should have been included in the food! Don't ya think? On another note, they take forever cooking your food and the new girl they have there can't even properly take an order. Horrible experience! You won't be getting our money again! This is the best Mexican I have eaten outside of Mexico City and Oaxaca. I can't rave enough about how much flavor they pack in every bite!!!!

VISIT #1 This small Mom and Pop Mexican Restaurant has all the makings of being the best in the area. We stopped in for a late lunch and shared their house nachos and they were fantastic! Also had a beef taco. A review of their menu assures that we will be back many times. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have extensive Mexican breakfast selections which are difficult to find in the Kingston, NY area. They also have typical American fare such as sandwiches and burgers. VISIT #2 (went from 5 stars to 2 stars for this visit) The following week: Went back for a real meal and were quite disappointed. Had their Mexican Seafood Soup and it was opposite of robust. Not sure what the word is for that and the fish was rubbery and flavorless. On the previous visit the owner assured me that he could put together a Combination Plate with what I wanted on it like we are used to having come from the west coast and quite hard to find in Mexican restaurants back here. I told the waitress (his wife, I think) exactly what I wanted: On one plate, a taco, a chile relleno, and an enchilada with cheese and chicken, beans, and rice. I told her in both english and spanish. What I got was one plate with the taco, and relleno, beans and rice. Then another separate plate with 3, count 'em 3 enchiladas containing only cheese, and more beans and rice. Total price for the Plata(s) Combinacione was $20. Kinda steep for what I actually ordered. They do have a couple of menu items called Combination Plates, but they are gigantic and appear to be something you would order for the whole table. They also contain a bunch of stuff I have yet to become familiar with. Taco, good, had one before. Chile relleno quite decent but made with that Mexican cheese that doesn't quite melt and had no sauce on top of it at all. Different than what we are used to. One interesting observation: On our first Nachos and a Taco visit, the owner came out and talked to us several times. On this visit, he remembered us, greeted us and then he never came back to chat. I think there may be a bit of a language barrier. too. Additional Comment: The place, in the winter is cold as hell. They had a couple of little electric space heaters out in the middle of the floor that did no good at all. Cold room, food cold quite quickly. May try it again, but it is unlikely. Still the best Mexican Restaurant around is La Cabana in Fleischmanns. And they do have combination plates on the menu.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. They have amazing burritos with authentic cheese. Tacos are also very good. They have a nice selection of ethnic soft drinks and beer.

The food here is incredible. Best flavors of real Mexican dishes. The ingredients are fresh. It's all cooked with love. I spoke to one of the owners, Maura, about doing a large order for a party of 50 at my house, and she came through! Most of the folks at the party are from Califirnua, so have a high bar in terms of Mexican food. They loved it! The bistec, chicken tinga were off the charts. The beans and rice we're perfectly seasoned. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. The salsas were incredible (especially the avocado salsa!) You can taste the freshness and love in every bite. Maura was great to work with, gave me a great price on this big order, and the food was on time and hot when we picked it up. I HIGHLY recommend La Hacienda. If you don't need a party catered, just go for some tacos and a michelada.
