Big restaurant with good parking and a lot of tables. Food and drinks were delicious. Waiter was very friendly and attentive. Food came out fast and hot. It was nice to have the chef come by to check on us and other tables asking if the food was good. We had a great experience. Will definitely be back!

The food was absolutely immaculate, we got the chicken tamales and never have I had such delicious restaurant food and it was truly embodying the authentic taste of Mexico. Though the service had some of the nicest people I’ve ever met in a restaurant, really made it feel warm. The atmosphere was very nice, the music was very pleasant to my ears and it had a very nice interior. 10/10 experience.

Got in late from out of town and La Hacienda was one of the few taco joints still open. We got take out, which could have skewed some of our experience since the tacos were kind of soggy by the time we got back to our place, but the food was alright. I got the caldo de pollo, which I actually enjoyed. It’s light, but flavorful. The rice was okay, but nothing special. Partner got ground beef tacos, chorizo tacos, and lengua tacos. The chorizo was his favorite of the 3–lots of flavor, but the rest were just okay. Service was good though. The person who rung us up was really nice and pleasant. Wait wasn’t terrible considering we walked in for last minute take out. It’s definitely popping on a Friday night though. Even at like 12:30pm, it was packed and pretty loud to be honest. Overall, not bad if you’re just craving some of the food on their menu. It’s nice that they’re open until 2 on Fridays and have plenty of seating.

Omg never have a been to a place in Madison That’s this good. When I had the food I swallowed and my jaw dropped in awe. When I say try this food I mean TRY IT. You will be thank me and the restaurant staff themselves for this heavenly food. 11/10 would come back everyday if I could.

Although the new owner has made some nice changes - however, I think those changes are mainly cosmetics - some of the other changes are on the food and I have noticed the quality drop a little. The cheese feels different and also the amount of food given on the plates is less. Some new staff aren’t as engaged . See example of the guacamole I was served yesterday - the person on the counter was not engaged and didn’t care much about the services he was providing. This is the only Mexican place I have visited for over 20 years, I truly hope is doesn’t start to go down in quality and service

My daughter and son in law wanted to go to LA Hacienda for their Birthdays. I never been there, so was excited to go to new place. We ordered the big Parralada that is for 3 to 4 people. Came with steak, chicken, chorizo, and rice and beans, guacamole. There were 4 of us and we all had leftovers for another day. Was so delicious and the best beans ever. The price was so good that I know we saved tons of money than ordering separately. My new best place for mexican food. Staff was so accommodating and she even came out with a Tres Leche cake with candle lit for their birthday and that dessert was the best cake ever. We will definitely be back again.

Location, Location, Location…well, this wasn’t it. It Did not look welcoming outside, and we almost left. Although it was a Wednesday night after 8 p.m. and we were looking for a place to eat, we decided to take a chance. The first thing we noticed was the smell. All three of us got out of the car and noticed a wonderful smell! That's a good start! The service was decent and above average. Overall, the food was good, and it was a satisfying meal. My dish could use a bit more seasoning. My mango alcohol drink could use a tad MORE alcohol. I would say 3.5 ⭐️ I did notice, and maybe we have to ask, but I think for a "service" industry, I shouldn’t have to ask. The salsa and chips should be flowing like a few places we always go to. The price is a tad high but not much higher than any places I've been lately, thanks BRANDON! The cost of pleasuring Ur self just went up, but then again, what can U expect from Madison’s way of life?

We used to go here for company dinners. The vibes were always great and the service was wonderful, especially for larger groups. This place has just Received new ownership and wow, if I can give them 10 stars, I would! They go above and beyond to make sure you come back!

We went on a Friday night and even though it was busy, we got seated right away. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and spacious. The food was really flavorful, especially the tacos, which were delicious, and the margaritas were a nice touch. The prices were pretty typical for a sit down Mexican restaurant, and the food took a little longer to come out than expected. Overall, a solid spot for good food and a laid back night out.

Went here on Sunday for lunch. Quickly got a table and small serving of chips and salsa. Then the challenges began. No refills on drinks until asked multiple times. Finally went up to kitchen to ask for chips. A mariachi band was playing for a party in the side room and the staff was more concerned about watching them than serving the rest of the tables. Food was ok, but nothing super special. Would not come back. Update: both people who ordered chicken ended up getting very sick overnight. Third person who ate it the next day for leftovers also got sick and had multiple digestive issues.

Absolute trash! We use to go here for a cheap drink and some apps. Not anymore, it now costs the same as any other restaurant, food, service and atmosphere have only gotten worse and worse. I got the queso, and they came out with this cheese sauce that tasted like it just came off the shelf at pick n save. But cost twice as much.... Let alone the plastic margarita glasses like we were children. Don't come here if you want any decency of a meal, service or any quality drinks.

Let's start with me saying ever since the revamp I feel La Hacienda has elevated to the next level. I walked in and was seated immediately. The waitress was nice. So I ordered pozole which is so delicious it's so flavorful. I also ordered a paradilla combination comes with different meats corn tortillas and a plate of different toppings. The ambiance is chill laid back spacious. I recommend because the authenticity of the different dishes.

Ordered delivery through DoorDash. Ordered chicken chimichangas and paid extra for guacamole. Received steak chimichangas and no guacamole. Receipt attached to front of bag shows exactly what I ordered so it's so hard to understand how these things are incorrect. Food received was pretty good but just annoying to not get what was ordered.

I always get the same thing-bean, rice, and cheese burrito (sue me!). I absolutely love their burrito here!! The salsa is also delicious. Coming from San Diego, my expectations are very high. This place has great service, a cute environment, and they always listen to me and ask questions! Have been three times now and I will continue returning.

Great Mexican restaurant in Madison! I went there with my friend. At first we had some confusion about the menu (since it was nearly expressed in local language, and we don't have sufficient knowledge about Mexican meals). The serving people there then came up to explain with their biggest effort, which impressed me a lot! I would highly recommend this place for people who love Mexican food!!!

Always a good time at La Hacienda! Never have to wait to get a table. Service is hit or miss, usually pretty slow. Food is solid depending on what you get. Decently priced and new menus with lots of options to choose from.

Food: 4 Service: 4 Ambiance: 4 Hello Madison, WI! I see you have a good Mexican place in town! This place is delicious, good, homemade style Mexican food. I am surprised to have found such a delight this far north. I hear this place has been here a couple decades. I can see why. The service is good - the workers are all friendly. The place is super spacious - allowing of quick seating and comfortable away from others. Plenty of parking. And the food is great! The chips and pico de gallo they served when we were seated were fresh and had good flavor. The torta was served on a telera style bread - my favorite for tort as because it's the perfect texture to hug the shredded cheese chicken, beans, lettuce, tomato, avocado and cream. This was the tastiest of the dishes. The beans and rice served on side were also super tasty. The sope was made of cornmeal with good consistency. That was topped with the same ingredients as the torta so you can't go wrong. It was great! The burrito was equally delicious, but I think the star of the show were the enchiladas suizas. I do think those were the best and I would order those for myself next time.

Horrible place, do not eat here. Staff is rude especially towards non-Spanish speaking / Latino customers. We had a mixed table of half and half and our waitress consistently ignored us, went to every table with all Spanish speaking consumers besides us. Waitress did not even come back to check-in with us nor to even give us our checks. Food was horrible as well, not the most authentic coming from a native Mexican. Horrible service! Do not recommend to anyone. Horrible lugar. El personal fueron muy groseros especialmente con los clientes que no son latinos o que no hablan español. Teníamos una mesa mixta de mitad y mitad y nuestra mesera constantemente nos ignoraba, iba a cada mesa con todos los consumidores alado de nosotros que eran mesas de puro latinos. La mesera ni siquiera regresó para darnos nuestros cuentas. La comida también era horrible, ni fue auténtica- opinión viniendo de una Mexicana. ¡Servicio horrible! No se lo recomiendo a nadie.

We ordered take out. Was ready when we arrived, all food was good and they added plenty of condiments.

La Hacienda is one of the Madison gems that you will constantly think about even after you move away. I'm a frequent visitor for one item and one item only -- the paralliadas! You can choose between small and large and I will say a small is plenty for four. You can also choose spicy or non-spicy. We always get the mixto which includes steak, chicken, chorizo, pork, onions, grilled jalapenos, and potato. It's a beautiful dish and delivered on a lit grill to keep things hot. It's served on a grill plate so keep it hot while you enjoy. Meat lovers will enjoy this! Sure it's a little greasy with all the meat, but soak it up in a tortilla with fresh cilantro/onions and then add some salsa and it's delicious. Not a meal you can have everyday, but nice to bring people together. There is plenty of seating, the staff is amazing, and if you're thirsty, try their horchata! Did I also mention, they're open late? This place is a Madison gem that I will miss!

TLDR: mid Came here withTL a group of 6, ordered several things on the menu, along with a pitcher of margarita and horchata. The chip bowl was nowhere near as big enough as it should've been, and the service wasn't around to refill our chips or salsa. The food came out relatively quickly, but the drinks didn't. Our drinks arrived to our table practically as we were finished eating. In addition, our margarita didn't even have much of an alcoholic flavor, and we even had to ask if we got a non-alcoholic version. The horchata was good though. The flavors of the food overall weren't anything amazing. The steak was steak, the chicken was chicken, but honestly, you couldn't really tell that we were eating Mexican food. My plate of mixed chicken and steak fajitas was bland, and the corn tortillas didn't help with the dryness. The rice was also dry, with lettuce and tomatoes sprinkled randomly on top of the rice and bean plate. The flavors weren't very cohesive with each other, and it was hard to eat overall. They handed the sour cream and guacamole to you in these little paper containers, which in addition to being impossible to squeeze out of the container--was little to nothing that there was no point in even serving it in the first place.

sitting here feeling a bit pensive about the whole experience. i ordered the chimichangas, and one of those metal plates of meat and peppers that has a flame underneath it. the wow factor was definitely there, but the taste was just okay. it's hard to mess up mexican, and i wouldn't go so far as to say la hacienda messed it up, it's definitely got that authentic mexico feel. our server was a bit pushy, she came over about 5 times within 7-10 min to ask what we wanted, it got to the point where i had to verbally shoe her away. other than that she was nice. i'll be back, but only because of proximity to my house, not because i really want to be back.

I gave it 2 stars because of something hard being in one of my carne asada tacos. They tacos were ok and everything was alright until I took a bite into it, and something hard hurt my teeth. I don't know what it is, but now I don't even want to finish the rest of it. it's been a while since I ate here and wanted to try it out tonight. I'm disappointed that It wasn't a good experience after taking a break from them.

Ordered lunch via Eatstreet today. I ordered the rajas fundido, which is a cheese dip. THEY DID NOT INCLUDE TORTILLAS OR CHIPS. So, I have a lunch of cheese dip that I cannot eat. Who the hell sells dip without anything to dip into it????? Eatstreet, as usual, was of absolutely ZERO help. They have THE WORST customer service out off all the delivery apps other than Doordash. They're about tied.

anything less than 5 stars is a joke - i been to mexican spots around the country and nobody does horchata like they do it here. stuff is crazy. and i mean flat out stupid. just amazingly made (with love) and i damn near wanna fly back to madison just to drink this horchata again. and the BURRITOOOOO. oh man. yeah this place is a gem. madison should be known for its lakes and la hacienda. that's it. there's no other reason to come to madison wisconsin but this. been a fav for years love y'all

They food is okay that's not the problem but the problem is! They take forever the service is so not good, they take forever. This is why people end up leaving this place because they take forever to to bring the food so might as well leave and go to McDonald's, also there's one waitress doing all the work so I don't know what's up with the whole employee system but I don't recommend coming here unless you have all day to wait for your food!

La Not Cienda!! Looking for a late night meal. Service was way too slow and needed more flavor and spice in their dishes. Would have been better off at Taco Bell.

I have been going to this restaurant for a few years and it is, by far, my favorite Mexican restaurant in Madison. Their meals are huge and their margaritas are to die for. I have always been seated quickly and have been well attended to by the staff. They give you salsa and chips while you wait for food and it's probably the most basic salsa but I would honestly go there just to eat vats of it. Their dinners come with beans and rice, both are delicious. I always end up taking home leftovers because the servings are pretty big. I was not a big fan of their beans this last time I went - they seemed kind of watered down or something, but normally they are delicious. You can get your margaritas blended or on the rocks and they have so many flavors to choose from. Your size options are small, medium, large, or pitcher. Their sugar/salt rims seem to be a bit inconsistent. Sometimes they have them, sometimes they don't. They're also open late so they're good for a late night appetizer or drink! But know that they will not split checks after midnight.

Totally a Scam I ordered 5 margaritas double shot each for supposedly $15.99 per margarita.And instead they charged me $25 for each margarita. This place is such a scam be careful when u order drinks the waiters are scamming people

We stopped by La Hacienda to get a burrito , chips and salsa and a margarita. We asked for no lettuce in the vegetariano burrito and the server seemed to major misunderstand what we wanted - they brought out a burrito tortilla with a bunch of unmelted cheese and a couple of tomatoes in it. There were no beans, no rice, nothing hut this nasty cheese. The large lime margarita tasted like a stale premix for little to no tequila in it. Yhe chips and salsa and guacamole were tasty but the rest of it was .... bad. There are too many good options in Madison for us to want to return to La Hacienda.

Do yourself a favor and do not eat here. The food takes forever, it is dry, and of the lowest quality that I've ever seen. I would rather eat Taco Bell sober then eat at this restaurant.

We got the parrillata combination looks amazing and awesome display but meat was overly cook, chicken, beef, and pork was super dry and not seasoned at all, taste very plain. We ordered a total of 5 large and 3 small combinations all taste plain. We had a large group of 25 people. Service was slow and they forgot to bring a lot of the dishes. This place is not where I would want to host a large group at all.

Tortilla chips were hard. Salsa, too spicy. Torta, too soggy. Enchilada, too soggy. Margarita (on the rocks), hardly any alcohol. Premade/premix. Lettuce looked sad. Bland food. Don't waste your time. The space would be good for a large private gathering. Only positive with this restaurant.

Tried the king sized platter with cheese to share between a group of 5 people. That allowed 2-3 tacos per person and left us comfortably satisfied. The meat was decent and it was fun to eat family style. Maybe it was what I ordered, but I think I prefer the counterpart Mexican family restaurants a little over this place. Overall, fun and great for a large group of people. FYI: the horchata here is delicious! Definitely recommend ordering a pitcher to share (or for yourself)

There are many options for getting some authentic Mexican food in the Madison area however, La Hacienda has got to be my top favorite. La Hacienda is my go to restaurant because the tacos are great and the price is cheap. My usual order are three chorizo tacos served with cilantro, onion, and three slices of lime for that extra tart flavor punch.

La Hacienda is hands down my favorite place for Mexican. I've tried almost every Mexican place in Madison but NO ONE makes Fajitas like them! Also the chips and salsa they give you is the best, only salsa I like.The staff are the BEST! They're kind and helpful. Sure sometimes they get busy but they are the definition of service with a smile. Their portion sizes are great! They give you enough tortillas with the fajitas ( something I've had problems with at other restaurants). The steak they use for fajitas is juicy and plump unlike other places I've been to. They may have had a bad year but they are the best Mexican food I sweat

This place has been consistently great for many years. I will gladly be back in the future. I wish they had outside seating, but inside was well spaced and all the proper covid19 precautions were in place. The Fish Tacos were GREAT!

My early Madison go-to for cheap, delicious late night food. A burrito from this place does exactly what it needs to do at 2am on a Friday night: hit the spot

I've been here at least twice and I think only because someone else had decided on this place. Consistently underwhelmed by the quality of food. I had some sort of pork chop-like dish which was thin and not very tasteful. The rice and beans were similarly bland. I'm pretty sure I had a burrito from here years ago and it was also just like generic food. My compadres got mango margaritas and were trying to figure out which ones were alcoholic vs not and had a really hard time deciding... draw your own conclusions. There are plenty of better choices for Mexican food, I would try those instead.

This place was my childhood and I still go here to this day. Back then there used to be a lot of people and business was going great for them.. Now very few people come here which I'm honestly disappointed because the food here is very delicious! It all happened when the pandemic happened.. Anyway, This place is a well deserved 5-Star because of how amazing this place is.

Love how spacious this place is. It can fit all sizes of groups which is why it's never a hassle to stop by. We always get the parrilladas combination because it feeds about 4 ppl. Order extra beans/rice per person and you'll be set for an awesome meal. The salsas do lack in flavor. The regular salsa they normally bring out is undesirable, while the requested "spicy" salsa is water down and flavorless.

On 3/30/22 I stopped here for lunch with a friend. What a disappointment! I have had many other meals here thru the years and found the food to be OK. Today I ordered chicken tacos and received two "tacos" which contained lettuce, tomato and a lump pf chicken on a shell so wet and soggy it fell apart. No seasoning at all. My friend received a plate of soggy/wet chips with excessive cheese, lettuce and avocado slices when she ordered an appetizer. The complimentary chips were crumbled pieces out of the bottom of the bag with watered down salsa. I don't plan on ever coming back, there are too many other options available close by. The service was OK.

The margaritas, pretty sure there was no tequila in them and they had an artificial taste to them. Don't bother ordering. Service was ok Wife ordered a taco salad with ground beef. The beef had absolutely no seasoning of any kind on it. I had taquitos with chicken. They were ok 5/10 but lacked chicken. The beans and rice were good 8/10 All in all I'm surprised they are still open for business. 4/10.

The place is large but empty. The server seemed to care less. The food was bland tasteless and dull. I could not finish my burrito . I confess I had better at Qdoba. The nachos were from a bag you can buy from a grocery store. The only thing saving it from one star is the price. Stay clear.. Delicious! We came during Covid, the the restaurant was empty. The waitress seated us promptly and was very attentive. The lunch specials are amazing with good portions. I got the chicken gorditas, which I highly recommend! They were flavorful with excellent potions. My husband enjoyed his combination plate. Don't sleep on this little gem of a restaurant. We'll definitely be back!

I have a dilemma with spicy food. On one hand, spice can amplify the flavor of a dish and turn an ordinary meal into an almost religious -and sweaty- experience. On another, after eating spicy food, I usually go through three phases of discomfort: 1) sitting on a couch writhing in pain while desperately scarfing down Tums (and ignoring the recommended dosage); 2) crying on the toilet; and 3) passing out on a bed from the agony experienced from phases 1 and 2. Each time I go through these three phases the discomfort becomes progressively worse (perhaps due to age), however, somehow, my belly seems to always tell my brain not to worry. I haven't been to La Hacienda since my undergraduate days at UW-Madison, and I'm sad to read below that the quality has gotten worse. In the past, if I rolled with a hungry and rowdy crew, I could always depend a La Hacienda to fill our bellies with delicious and spicy food. Well after several years, I made my return to this restaurant while visiting some close friends in Madison (shout out to Soupy and Monica). To celebrate the occasion, we ordered horchata and asked the waitress what was her favorite dish. She gushed about the "parilladas" (which is most likely the incorrect spelling), which has an assortment of spicy or non-spicy meats (chicken, beef, and pork) grilled on a metal plate cooked above a flame. The meats are eaten with either corn or flour tortillas. For our meal, we made half of the dish spicy and ordered both types of tortillas. I have to say, this was probably one of the most memorable Mexican meals I have ever eaten. The spicy meats were full of flavor -although I can't say the same with the non-spicy meats- and I loved both types of tortillas. I couldn't stop my inner carnivore from eating this crack meat, despite knowing that my night would eventually end in doom. Even though the cinnamon and banana flavored horchata quelled some of the heat, it could not put stop my inevitable fall into spicy hell. La Hacienda's parilladas and horchata were both amazing and it made me relive some great memories I've had here in the past. At the end of the night, of course, I went through the three phases of discomfort which quickly ended my night. When I woke up the next morning, I proceeded to eat the left overs. So worth it.

Such a great deal for lunch! We stopped in the other afternoon after hitting up a weekday morning movie in Fitchburg. I had last been to La Hacienda over a decade ago, and after an aborted attempt to get a late dinner there a couple of weeks ago (the parking lot was jam packed and we couldn't get a big enough break in traffic on Park to get back across the street after seeking out other parking) we've had it on the brain. Upon entering we were quickly seated and served chips and salsa and had our drink orders taken. The salsa came in adorable tiny cups that allowed us each to dig in to our own. Our server was very sweet and attentive, and made for an even more pleasant experience than the delicious food would have on its own. They have several lunch deals that come with a soda, and both of us ended up ordering the chimichanga plate. I went with chicken, my boyfriend went with beef, and we were both really happy with our choices. The lunch portion is, from what I remember, exactly the same as the dinner portion. I had more food than I could take down in one sitting, so I was pumped to have dinner later with my second mini chimi (they opt to give you two smaller fried burritos instead of one massive one). I don't know if they've actually updated the interior a bit in the years that I haven't been, or if it just looked brighter and cheerier in the light of day, but either way it was a pleasant atmosphere for our lunchtime jaunt.

Authentic Mexican food. I have been here several times and have not been disappointed once. Each time has been with great service and bold flavors. Even though the parking needs a little work (limited), there is plenty of seating....FREE CHIPS AND SALSA !!!! I have not done dinner here, but I have had lunch several times. I take advantage of the Lunch menu. Awesome values, great portions, and there quick. I have not had a bad meal yet. I am currently working my way down it. I am on item 12.

Chips salsa and water were delivered immediately! Followed by a delicious banana berry Margarita garnished with an orange. I ordered 3 mini chimichangas which came with beans rice lettuce and tomato and a lime. Perfectly garnished with a sour cream was more than enough for me ended up taking half of it home. When I asked for a to-go box the waiter jokingly said "No, you have to finish it all here. " Ten minutes later I'm still waiting for my to-go box?.?. The waiter came and apologized and brought me the to-go box. I will definitely be back this was a great experience.

How does this place not have 5 stars?!? The food is spicy like real Mexican food should be, made to order, in perfectly-sized portions, and at extremely affordable prices. The service is friendly and ridiculously fast. The space itself is enormous and open, so there's always tables available. And they almost never close. I've lived in Houston, Texas, Jackson, Mississippi, and visited Arizona and California several times. And I've never had Mexican as good as this little joint in Madison, Wisconsin. Go here!

Best Mexican restaurant on Park St. Great lunch menu. Had the chimichanga and it was wonderful. My good buddy ordered 2 tacos (thought he wanted 3) and it was plenty of food. Great place to visit with friends and co-workers. My water was ice cold.
