"I ordered an onion tart, an Alsace specialty, which tasted like it came straight from the microwave, accompanied by a half bottle of Klipfel Riesling that managed to be both flabby and bitter." - Lettie Teague

At the end of the our day, we decide to eat here. It is a surprisingly delicious and extremely creative restaurant. We tried onion soup, a classic. It was ordinary level. As main dishes we ordered onien pie and hot Munster cheese on potatoes. Both of them are crazy delicious, fresh and big portion. But the goal of the night was the desert named “Kugelhopf”. We were hopeless, because we had thought it was just a cake. However it was a fried ice cream in a digestive alcohol pool !!! The most creative idea I have ever tasted. Thank you! Strongly recommended!

Not sure why so many reviews are lower stars. We did not try the food here. Our boat was delayed so we decided to stop and spend a little time in this town. After viewing the lock Al sites we still had more time. This place was the most crowded. When we where done seeing the sites of the city we wanted a beer. We stopped by and the sat us immediately. We told the person that sat us we wanted a beer and the bill. Two minutes later they were delivered. Sip sip hooray. Enjoyed and we were off

Traditional restaurant in centre of town, serving local specialities. Wide choice on menu. Enjoyed a good dinner with local wine. Had beers on tap too. Nothing special, but more than adequate, good atmosphere. Desserts, mainly huge tarts, looked delicious but we resisted so cannot confirm they tasted as good as they looked. Great service, even though very busy. Smart toilets too. Delightful evening in historic centre.

Very rustic and charming interior. Good service even when crowded. We enjoyed the Bouchée a la Reine Impérial, which where excellent. Pricing is OK considering the touristic location. Only the Muscat vine was not up to the local standards, but your experience may differ. Recommended

Big portions of tasty food, good choice of alsatian dishes, very friendly staff. In nice weather, you can eat outside which is another advantage.

Nice food in a beautiful setting. Staff unfortunately rather rude and loud when things are not as expected. Will certainly not return and do not recommend.

Yelp
Despite it's central location, that's a great spot, be it with regards to the quality of food, service or decoration. We stopped there while visiting the Christmas market in Obernai and were pleasantly surprised when within 10 minutes, in the middle of the rush hour they were able to find us a spot indoors. The waitress was nice and efficient, taking a couple of corrections to the order as my friends were changing the opinions on what they wanted after the order. While waiting for food, we could admire the authentic interiors of a medieval building, in particular the intricate interweaving of the ceiling support beams, as well as the additional decoration added to the season - minimal, tasteful and without any kitsch. Finally, upon arrival the food was highly satisfying as well. Traditional Alsatian food in all of its variety - a Bæckeofe, Bouchées à la Reine with Spätzle and finally two cheeses in crust - all were delicious and filling. Local seasonal beer was extremely nice too. Overall, a great experience that's definitely highly recommendable!

Yelp
Very good restaurant with traditional Alsace kitchen. Can easily host large groups. Good wines and not expensive given the quality and quantity of food. Very much recommended.
