LA Hot Chicken

I stopped in today for lunch and was greeted with a warm, welcoming smile by the owner, Sue (who I must add is an absolutely wonderful person). Ended up ordering dumplings along w/ their signature chicken sandwich and fries. Everything was sooooo delicious!! Absolutely mouthwatering! I can't say enough about how much everything exceeded my expectations. I left feeling full and satisfied. Also had a Mango Strawberry Boba to go which was AMAZING! Can't wait to stop in again and try everything on the menu! You have to love family-owned businesses who go out of their way to make you feel valued and cared for. LA Hot Chicken is a MUST stop for great food, exceptional customer service, and an enjoyable & fun atmosphere!!

I really enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich and fry combo (#1) as recommended by the gentleman at the front desk. He was super polite and professional. I got the sandwich in medium spice and I really enjoyed how juicy it was along with the unique method they prepared the breast. However, it wasn’t very spicy for me but my tolerance is fairly high. If you’re hesitant start with medium like I did but I imagine most people that want a “spicy” chicken sandwich will opt for something higher in the scale next time. Atmosphere is very nice and they have some arcade games too which seems like it could be fun. I would definitely come back again. The sandwich and fry combo is also a great value for the price.

Holy smokes this place is amazing. Prices are great considering the quality of the food. The owner was super nice and you could tell she is PASSIONATE. I love the free sauce that comes with the meals, chicken was good quality and the fries were still hot and crispy after a 15 minute drive home. Please recommend this place to your friends because a business like this deserves to stay in business.

Not only was the food delicious, but they were very intentional about keep the food fresh and making sure my order was correct. The lady who gave me my food even opened the door for me. I've never had such outstanding service. Ordered chicken and waffles, spicy chicken noodle, chicken wings, and bulgogi rice bowl. All of it was absolutely phenomenal. I'm excited to go back and try out the rest of the menu!

After watching a video reviewing a fairly new restaurant, just down the road, I was eager to try it.  It was a smart decision! I ordered the Chicken Sandwich, with medium heat (options are from No Heat to Really Hot.) Medium was just right for me (tingle on the tongue and lip area), which was offset by a creamy coleslaw and pickle slices, on a toasted tasty bun. I also appreciated that the chicken wasn't those huge slices that are clunky and dry to bite into.  I really enjoyed. The thing I bought were the half dozen Chicken Dumplings. These also were terrific (perfect crunch factor and soft mixture inside.) Luckily, I bought 2 orders of those, so I'll have more to eat with the second half of the sandwich. The space is big. There were a couple of arcade games, and lots of tables. Good menu, that allows for decent choices.  The No Heat/Heat options make your meal customizable. As I looked around, I kept thinking the layout and menu would make LA Hot a great place for college students or family/friend groups to gather. Canned Pop is available. Btw, I don't like Corn dogs, but the Mozz Corn Dog eaten on the video has me soooooo tempted. Definitely, next visit! A Korean family owns Hot C, with son Issac the front man. Super nice, helpful. Definitely , worth trying out this unique restaurant. I enjoyed it a lot. I did a carry-out .

Was greeted with a small right when I came through the door. I got a mild chicken sandwich and fries which took about 10 minutes to make because they do pride themselves on cooking everything fresh which I appreciate. The sandwich was incredible and the fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The establishment is a cool little vibe with some arcade games inside for the family. Definitely recommend to anyone! I will for sure be back!

My bf and I went here today for lunch and had a great experience. I got the sweet and spicy popcorn chicken (small) and he got the chicken sandwich and fries (medium spicy) and we both agreed this was the best chicken we've had in a while. It was juicy and crispy, with good flavor. The woman who helped us said that they make everything fresh and the chicken marinade for 8 hours. Everything was high quality and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

I’ve been on a recent hunt for new chicken sandwiches, and I just so happen to run across “LA Hot Chicken” through my google searching. I was warmly welcomed by the cashier upon entering. I ordered two chicken sandwiches with two orders of the 6-piece bone in sweet n spicy wings for my mother and myself. For the spice levels I got the “Mild” for one sandwich which was the second lowest spice level and “Hot” for the other which was the second highest spice level. I’d like to quickly to state that I am a person that loves good spicy/hot food and I like to test my might to see if the spice/heat levels are really true to what it says they are at different food establishments. I received the food and made my way home. I tried the sweet and spicy chicken wings first and I must say…they were absolutely delicious!!! It was like the perfect balance of sweet and spicy in each bite that you could get down to the bone. They were so good that I didn’t even want to use any dipping sauce like I normally do like ranch or something. I had the “Hot” chicken sandwich. It had a very juicy bite with a nice crunch and the chicken itself was seasoned nicely. The bun was soft and toasted just right. I did like the slaw that was on it but it would have been nice if it was a little more rich and creamier. Pickles were crisp with each bite. Now for the sauce!!! OOhoohoohohohoh!!! The “Hot” LA sauce was pretty tasty, however after about 6 minutes the heat levels kicked in…… and THAT STUFF WAS HOT!!!!! Like..whoo s**t…oooo baby.…like so hot that I was in the air doing kens shinryuken from street fighter. They were not bulls****n with the heat levels which is good!!! But I will humbly say the spice on my sandwich was too powerful for me and I would definitely go lower next time LOL!! I tried my mom’s sandwich with the mild sauce and oh my goodness…..I’ve had quite a few “mild” sauces in my time, and I must say that this had to be one of the BEST tasting mild sauces that I’ve had in a LONG time. I was so flavorful and savory and the kick to it was perfect. Like I highly recommend the mild sauce for the chicken sandwich! Overall, my experience at LA Hot Chicken was a great one. The two people that were working there were very kind and treated me well. The only downside to me is the food being pretty pricy. All together for two chicken sandwiches and two of the 6-piece wings was 50 bucks. And with so much chicken sandwich/wings competition out here it would be very hard to want to drop that much to feed 2 people every time. The food is really good! I would recommend going here from time to time if you have some extra cash on hand and want some nicely flavored food!! But if you’re on a budget you would probably want to only go there for yourself lol. LA Hot Chicken gets a 4 out of 5 from me! :) DevilChipp

TLDR: LA Hot Chicken is a great place to get your fill of fried chicken with some Korean add-ons. Sue, the person running the shop, was very kind and inviting. For my dinner, I ordered item #1, the chicken sandwich and fries, as well as Korean style cucumbers as a side. I specifically ordered the sandwich with the "extreme fire" spiciness level, which was the hottest available spice level offered. The chicken sandwich itself was delicious. It was not greasy in any way and had a nice balance of bun to fried chicken to toppings. The spiciness level, while being advertised as using Carolina reapers, was middling, though I won't hold that against the business. For those that regularly eat spicy, the sandwich will have a nice kick at the "extreme fire" level. The fries that came with the chicken sandwich were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. On top of being well seasoned, the fries came with a custom Korean-inspired dipping sauce that was savory as well. The Korean style cucumbers, often seen as a banchan (side dish) in Korean restaurants, were fresh and well seasoned. They served as a nice palate cleanser between bites of the sandwich and fries. Overall, I would love to come back to this establishment and eat more. I may even want to use the lounge area in the back with the foosball table if I bring friends.

Nestled in a small strip mall along Hayes Road, just south of Canal Road in Clinton Township, they are directly south of the newer car wash. My first time here, I ordered a #1 Meal Combo from the menu on the video screen. The meal consisted of a chicken sandwich and an order of fries - $13. I also ordered a 12 oz. can of Coca-Cola - $2. The sandwich can be made to your liking along a spiciness scale from no spice to light to heavy spice. Hence, the "hot chicken" was just that, right from the start. The spiceyness is rated on a scale of 0 to 10. I took a Level 5 for my meal. I was very pleased with my selection. Each encounter with an employee was excellent. They explained the menu, took my order, and delivered with a genuine smile The sandwich was delicious! The fries were seasoned, but good. I might try just the sandwich next time to lower the cost a bit. By all outward appearances, the restaurant is modern looking, and well organized. The dining area was neat and clean. A major disappointment came when I ventured into the Men's room. The soap dispensers were empty, the paper towel dispenser was empty and the fit and finish overall was not up to modern restaurant standards. And it could have used a good cleaning. I will probably stop in again in the future to try out a couple other items in the menu. I wandered in to the restaurant a few days earlier to find out what LA Hot Chicken was all about. They don't have any kind of printed menus available. As I looked over the video menu on the screen in front of me, the cashier discussed with me the various menu items. I discovered that the menu offerings were Korean inspired. Satisfied with what I learned, I decided to visit in a couple days.

This is a low key place on a strip mall. Don't let that fool you as the food is awesome. Give them some love.

This place has been in my Yelp list for a bit since i first started seeing the glowing reviews pop up. Am I ever glad I did. I'm happy to add another 5 star review. For reference here is how I determine 1-5 stars 5= worth driving out of your way to eat this food, you won't regret your decision 4= Exceptionally good, but not necessarily as a destination 3= Fine, nothing exceptional but nothing horrible either 2= Be prepared for disappointment if you are somehow left with no other options 1= Avoid at all costs LA Hot Chicken is definitely a 5, forget Popeyes or Chick Fil A.....support a local business instead I knew I was in good hands when the first thing I was told after completing my order was that it would be an 11min wait because every is cooked to order. I got the chicken sandwich and fries. I chose mild spice on the advice of the host who said the medium had a kick. My old tastebuds can't handle spice like the used to. The brioche was nicely toasted and the chicken was topped with a not too creamy Cole slaw and 3 pickles. The chicken was one of the best I've ever had..wonderful crispy and with the perfect amount of heat. This was an exceptional sandwich The fries were also hot and crispy. Overall a wonderful experience and at $13 for the combo a great value

Door Dashed on a miserable Sunday while watching football and was very happy I did. Let me tell you, this was one tender and juicy piece of meat. I actually needed a napkin to wipe my chin in between bites. TMI I know but don't even care! Do not hesitate to order. If they hit it this out of the park with a carryout, I can imagine their dine in being even better!

Came here with the hubby for lunch, and the sandwichs were delicious. The owner took our order and she was so nice and helpful. When we got the same, wow we're we amazed by the taste. The sauce on the breaded chicken combined with the crunchiness made the sandwich delicious. The restaurant itself is more like a hangout for groups of friends. We will be back for sure

The service at this place was beyond 5 star, and way better than a lot of high end restaurants. The lady suggested where we should seat for most comfortable seating, she gave me extra maple syrup at request without charging me extra, she took our trays at the end and walked us to the door when leaving. She was very polite, and helpful in explaining things. The food is made to order. The food was very very good, not super oily, the flavours were there. They have plenty of seating, comfortable, and spacious. They have a few arcade games in the corner. If I had anything negative to say then I wish the chicken pieces were slightly bigger, although it was plenty of food for lunch. The chicken is halal.

Late post: Went there a couple of months ago after seeing the good reviews about it. I ordered kpopcorn chicken in soy garlic and sweet & spicy flavors. I also ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with fries. All to go. It was kind of busy. Nobody was eating in, but a lot of carry out. I waited quite a bit (they do warn you about the wait. As they cook to order). The staff was very friendly. The inside of the restaurant was kind of dark. I was there in the afternoon. And they had the door propped open. And the light was just coming from the windows and doors. When I got home ans we tasted the food, it was very good. The sweet and spicy might be too spicy for others. All in all it was good food and we love korean chicken. Will definitely be back and try to dine in so we can try the wings, so it can be crispy.

I ordered 2 chicken sandwiches w/ fries. One mild, one medium and a potato corndog. It came up to $33 and some change no drink is included. They do offer can pops for $2. The mild sandwich is ok nothing to brag about, my daughter did not like her medium sauce. she said it had a weird smell ‍. The lady was nice about it and let her swap it out for another corndog. I'm not a fan of the chicken so i won't be back due to that's all they pretty much sell so i can't try anything else. Restaurant was clean and cute. I like the gaming area. Good customer service.

This place has everything you could ask for! Spicy chicken sandwiches, chicken & waffles, Korean corn dogs, and boba. Although, the boba is more of a slush, it's still very delicious with the tapioca popping pearls. The restaurant itself is very engaging, as there is a mini basketball hoop and fuse ball, with many comfortable booths available for dine-in. If you are nearby, IT IS SO WORTH IT!!!

Skip Chik-fil-a and Popeyes and get LA Hot chicken instead!! Not only are you supporting a local business but also fresh quality ingredients and a scrumptious meal! First of all, best hot crispy chicken sandwich I've had in Michigan. It was flavorful, tender, juicy and hot (even after a 15 minute drive in my car) the pickles are good and I loved the coleslaw and sauce. The coleslaw was very fresh and I could tell it had been made by hand. Brioche bun suited the sandwich perfectly and I was surprised on how big it was. A large bun and the chicken was still peeking out the edges for the perfect bite! Fries were good! I really enjoyed the depth of the flavor as it was more than just "spicy" and the light crispy breading is 100% absolute! My coworker got onion rings and they were crispy and delicious and came with tasty dipping sauces. The food isn't overly oily for being fried and they keep their oil clean as everything had a great taste. The interior is cute and very clean and I'm excited to eat in next time I visit and order a bubble tea and sample the wings. The service was great and I had a lovely conversation with who I believe was one of the owners. The chef brought my carry out to me and was also very friendly. I think the price was right for the quality / quantity received. For $9.75 price on just the sandwich, I've paid comparable or more for a less tasty sandwich at several fast food restaurants/ bars. I will be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family.

Soft opening both today and tomorrow (10/1 & 10/2) they have a limited menu currently, but will be expanding once they open fully. Tried the popcorn chicken with K Sweet & Spicy Sauce and the Chicken sandwich with slaw and pickles. All were very good, very crispy and flavorful. I got the "hot" spice level, which is their 2nd most spicy level and it was quite hot. I usually order hot level Thai food and love spicy food and this definitely was a challenge, so beware! Excited to try them again once they open fully.

It's the best spicy chicken sandwich! I've ordered it many times, and it's the same amazing sandwich every time! The family that owns it is so nice and caring, you leave every time hoping the town knows how wonderful it is!

Holy Korean hot chicken!!!! It was so good! The sandwich was tasty and the fries were cooked perfectly. The owner is so friendly and personable! She brought the food out to my friends and I, and was quite the conversationalist. It's wonderful that some people remember that customer service is important. I will definitely be going back. Oh and I asked.... it's L.A. as in Los Angeles, not Louisiana.

This place buys cheap chicken and dresses it up in sauces and flavors so you can't tell but once you take a bite and your chicken that's done has a hard spotter two or three then the chicken quality is bad. Plus the sauce degree hot mild is way off.. mild mild is your standard hot? I got hot and I couldn't even enjoy the sandwich

OMG BECKY WE HAVE ARRIVED!!!! OUTSTANDING CHICKEN SANDWICH. Derrick and I were craving chicken. I am fairly new to the hot chicken sandwich crowd. I know why they have a crowd!!! This sandwich was incredible with the fire sauce. The heat level did not disappoint. I love it hot. You can get it mild, too. They had a sauce with a skull on it, I saw it after I ordered. I will try that next time. The sandwich was so tender and crunchy with a bun that could hold all of that goodness! The owners are very kind and deserve our business. I know good food and this is it!!! Hot Chicken in the city!!! The wings look amazing, too.

Came in based on recommendations on ELM Facebook page. We will most definitely be back. You walk in and order/pay at the counter. You can then sit anywhere and they will bring food out to you. We ordered two sandwiches: one mild and one medium. Both were very good. The medium packed the heat. Tried the potstickers. They were okay. Owner is one of the kindest people I have ever met. If you mention it is your first time, you will get a free soft drink.

So!! I walked in first time. Order the hottest sandwich. And ordered a tenders, less heat. Service was spot on!! You sure you want XtremeHeat? Yes ma'am!! Ohhhhhhh Well fresh cooked! And clean. Walked my dog. That is an awesome sandwich. The flavor spot on. Little more salt to Chicken. Just a little. Fries ok. Not my thing. I was there for the spice and chicken. So so yummy! If you're in the mood for some really good high quality chicken I highly recommend stopping by! We tried the new chicken and waffles and it was one of the best we've had! My personal favorite was the chicken sandwich combo but I love the flavors of the popcorn chicken. Honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Hands down the best chicken restaurant around here. It's not full of batter but real chicken, good flavor, crispy, and hot! 10/10 have to try if you haven't already!

The hot chicken experience was very good....great spice, good balance with the slaw and pickles. Service was great. Go check it out if your in the mood for some spicy chicken. They also had a game area for kids which looked decent. I had gone by many times, glad i finally stopped. Definitely going back.

Just having moved back to Michigan after spending the past 15 years in CA, I was really missing all the delicious korean food that is everywhere out there. A friend suggested I try this place and I'm glad I did. The chicken is moist and the sauces were good! The owner was SO sweet and she gave us free sodas. The food was fresh and the fries were good. I will definitely come back to try more things.

My family and I were the only customers at the location. We ordered our food and got served our food pretty quickly. The chicken sandwich is excellent. The French fries were crispy. Overall we had a good experience.

This place definitely has the best chicken sandwich in the area. The potstickers were really good as well. Something that sets this place apart is they cook to order to ensure freshness. The chicken was perfectly crispy. The dining room was clean and there were different games to play while waiting. I played Pac-Man and the lady who served me was friendly and looked like she enjoyed being there! This made a cloudy day 10x better.

Tried this place because of the high ratings. Nothing special at all. Chicken quality is not good. No toppings for people who don't like coslaw. The sandwiches had barely any sauce on them, just no options for anything honestly. I won't be back unfortunately. I gave 3 stars only because the women running the place was just the sweetest person ever! I feel bad even leaving this review. But in wish I would have seen more reviews like mine before going there.

I had a great experience at LA Hot Chicken! Sue the owner was so sweet and really made sure we had what we needed and enjoyed everything. The first time I came I got the spicy chicken sandwich, which tasted crispy and spicy with good quality chicken. The fries were a huge highlight too, crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. The second time I visited I got the chicken tenders and waffles and it was definitely one of the best chicken+waffles I've had. The waffles were so so soft and the chicken on top was crispy and juicy. It was the perfect combo and has taken the spot of my go-to meal here! It is so gratifying supporting a small business that is so committed to their craft. Thank you Sue and team!

Service was great and the owners are so friendly. The food was excellent and hot. We ordered the Mild Chicken Sandwich basket with fries. The mild is pretty spicy so order accordingly. It also has a spicy peanut sauce that has some kick to it too. It' was definitely the best chicken sandwich and fries I've had. Your first visit you get a free drink, which was nice. The eating area is large and very clean. There is a large screen television, but I didn't pay any attention to what station it was tuned. I highly recommend this establishment.

Food is good. Waffles are great. The chicken is not the traditional but is fried and tastes good you get to choose your level. It does come apart from the chicken easy and is flat compare to other places. The people are nice and friendly. The boba is great we had mango and strawberries bubbles it came out very nice and is more of slushee but so good. They have a game area but we came late for a non chain business worth a stop and will be back.

Very good service! Was my first time trying and it did not disappoint. The food was very nice, and the hot sauce was actually hot. Amazing customer service that was both professional and inviting, it's clear that this place is a passion project. The place has a very nice ambiance, with clean seats and tables, complete with nice potted plants and some arcade games to play. Just a heads up though, the boba that they serve is frozen, like a slushy. The boba is still good I was just a little surprised. If I were to give 1 note on what to improve, it would be that the amount of ranch they give you on the side is a bit small, I would be fine with paying more for bigger ranch containers. That being said they did offer to give me the ranch for free because it was my first time. Overall great restaurant

I love a good Nashville hot style chicken sandwich and LA Hot chicken delivers. This isn't a standard chain style restaurant, every meal is made to order and the chicken is never frozen. The sandwich came with a good serving of slaw and pickles (which I consider a must have on a spicy chicken sandwich) and I asked for the fire sauce. The heat level was actually hot but not painful if you're into spicy foods and packed a delicious sweet and savory flavor. The chicken was juicy and tender and the slaw and pickles were fresh and flavorful. This is, so far is the best Nashville hot style chicken I have had in the metro Detroit area. As a bonus, the service was great and the people were friendly. You will not be disappointed.

If you're looking for the best chicken restaurant in the world look no further than LA Hot Chicken. The chicken was to die for, I drove 4 hours to indulge on the crispiest, juiciest experience of my life. The LA Hot Chicken playlist is as fire as their chicken, only further encapsulated by the mural that hovered behind me as I my teeth into every crunchy bite.

This was my second visit. I first tried LA Hot Chicken within their first two weeks of opening and thought everything was very well made and tasty. Had the chance to meet the owners (a family) and talk to them about the food and the new business they just opened. Extremely nice, passionate and ambitious family that I was happy to meet. Fast forward to my visit today (a couple months since my first) let me tell you that the chicken sandwich I had was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've EVER had. Not only has LA Chicken kept up with the quality, they have also gotten even BETTER in my opinion. This is a great sign for a new business. If you live in the area and have not tried this chicken sandwich yet you MUST give them a try. Forget the fast food chicken, try the LA Hot Chicken sandwich you will LOVE it. Side note, the heat levels run on the hot side, so even the "medium" has a solid kick to it, you've been warned :).

I had soy garlic chicken wing and hot chicken sandwich and it was the best!! It was sooo delicious and almost cried! Finally found the best chicken wing place!! Highly recommend trying this place as you will love it! I normally do not post any reviews but I need to share it so that other people can enjoy! The quality of the wings is premium!!

This food is amazing! The staff were friendly and very attentive. The chicken is also Halal so the meat is extra fresh! I love the wings there!

Have gotten carry out from here several times and it is always consistent. Great flavor and high quality ingredients. The owners are wonderful and take extreme pride in everything they do.

Without a doubt the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. Fries are excellent, Onion rings likewise. The kids working there are super nice too. We'll be back. =)

The food here is outstanding and the staff is also just as great! Highly recommend everyone check this place out if they like chicken sandwiches.

Great chicken I love the taste. I do believe it's on the longer wait side but it comes out fresh.

First timer here ... I had driven past maybe a month ago and made a mental note to go back when I had some time. Despite being in a random plaza in the area, I was pleasantly surprised with how it met my hopeful expectations :) I was very happy to find out it is Korean family owned, as it boasts Korean fried chicken and the hot chicken sandwich, which is famous in LA (where they lived for 13 years). I talked and shared stories with Su (one of the owners) and her son (Isaac), where I was taken very well care of and thanked for the support of their business. And I'm happy to give it! I told them I would put a review up and tell all my family and friends to check them out. The sandwich had a great level of spice - I got medium - and fresh and hot. All the meat is halal and never frozen, always fresh. Their sauce is homemade organic. I found out the mandu was heavily researched and tested before putting them on the menu and they were SO GOOD - I loved the vegetarian sweet potato noodle filling instead of standard meat and veggies. I plan on going back soon to try the wings and their new menu item - chicken & waffles. Definitely worth a visit - would recommend.
