La Hutte Royal (Art House)

Haven't got to do this one yet due to being under renovation of new art, but did light house dark house and it was cool! Will definitely be back to explore the others.

This is truly an immersive art experience beginning with wiggling your way around the doorbell and then wiggling on your knees through an Alice in wonderland tunnel. What a wonderful contribution to Pittsburgh! We are so fortunate! There is no allowing of photos inside so I am unable to attach any 😞

Very unique art house (1 of 3 in close proximity on Troy Hill section of Pittsburgh) that appears to be just one of many houses along the street- until you step inside. As with all of the Troy Hill art houses, I highly recommend that you read about the 3 artists and the origin of the Art House project prior to your visit. The Troy Hill Art House website is filled with great info and has interesting links, as well. Read it all to get the most from your visit. I did not and now I want to go back to gain full appreciation of each of these talented artist’s work. All house tours are free of charge and you will be accompanied by a very pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable guide.

Free Admission ... Highly recommended ... This is the original (out of three (there will be a fourth in the near future)) of the Troy Hill Art Houses. Without giving spoilers, I will only say that the inside of this house is really cool, and totally worth your while to visit. Make your reservation online, arrive on time, and enjoy ... Cheers! P.S. Art isn't always stuffy or esoteric. In the case of the Hütte Royal Art House, it's a total blast. Don't start with any preconceptions, just go and experience something new and joyful. And when it's time, definitely DO go through the portal. I was laughing all the way, because the portal is unique and transforming. The docents are well trained and helpful. They are there to protect the art, but also answer any questions you may have and to guide you on your way. Total fun. Troy Hill, you rock!
