Family-run since 1924, this spice house and lunch counter distills borderland cooking into fragrant blends and mesquite-grilled plates. Celebrated by Texas Highways and honored locally with a Texas Historical Marker, it’s a living taste of Laredo history.

Excellent service and generous portions. My favorite was the curry chicken salad, very tasty. Only observation is they did not give us chips for the salsas. Not sure if they forgot them or if they do not serve them. Food got there quick enough for me to forget about chips.

I ate here on 07/21. The service and the food was amazing. The enmoladas were so incredibly authentic. I also tried the tea with canela which was so good. The waitress was very knowledgeable and kind.

Love this place. Only open for lunch so plan accordingly. The sampler plate is the bomb!! Always have lunch here when in Laredo. Not your typical place. You must know I’m the front door to be admitted. Not sure why but always different and delicious than the standard lunch fare. Soft soothing music plays in the background and as I stated, the food is outstanding ! Highly recommend.

This is the second time I visit. I thought my bad experience was just a fluke, so I gave it a second chance. Now I could really say with certainty that I am very disappointed. The prices are really jacked and the portions got smaller. The quality of the menu items are mediocre at best. I order a sample platter and it was small. My family order a salad and I am convinced it was a package salad from the HEB with cheap dressing. To conclude the reason I gave 2 stars and not zero is because this place also sells spices and they are pretty good.

This was our first visit to this dainty little place in old Laredo. We loved the homestyle taste of the "enchiladas" and "pechuga de pollo". They have so many great dishes in the menu that it can be a challenge to make your mind. Will definitely go back to try a few more. On you way out you can buy spices if you need any. They have a wide of variety and even tonics to help with health issues.😃

Although the food is very flavorful, the food is pricey for a small serving. Many items in their menu are not available. They seemed slow in attending to you and sometimes the front desk and cashier is not manned/womaned. They have good space for parking. The cozy place exhibits mexican culture. I may not comeback to dine but I will come back for their rare food spices and traditional herbs for tea (some are available only in this store/restaurant).

Delicious food! Friendly service and home-like atmosphere. Must try mole or enmoladas for a taste buds treat!
