Detroit’s Best Restaurants for a Delicious Lunch | Eater Detroit
"Consider La Jalisciense your one-stop lunch hour stop. Pick up pantry essentials from supermarket, including meats from the shop’s bountiful butcher’s counter, a small selection of produce, and a variety of Mexican-imported ingredients. Now that you’ve got a little shopping out of the way, have a seat in La Jalisciense’s full-service dining area for standbys like tacos, quesadillas, tortas, and birria de chivo (goat). Round out the meal with an agua fresca or bottled Coke or Jarritos." - Serena Maria Daniels
8 great bars and restaurants for Mexican cocktails in Detroit | Eater Detroit
"Not only can one pick up a fresh order of chicharrones or a handful grocery staples from the supermarket section, but La Jalisciense low key is the spot for boozy brunches in Southwest Detroit. Indulge in a michelada — which, depending on the season, can be flavored with unexpected ingredients such as blueberry or be made booze-free as a miche’nada — to complement your chilaquiles and cecina. Satisfy your love for horchata with a sweet spiked version using 99 Bananas Liqueur. Or skip the alcohol and go for a mocktail, such as La Rusa made with Squirt or Sangria Señorial, lime, salt, and ice in a chilled glass with a Miguelito chamoy rim." - Serena Maria Daniels
From the first bite, I knew this place was special. The dishes are crafted with care tender meats, perfectly balanced spices, and fresh ingredients that sing. The portions satisfy without skimping on quality, and the prices feel like a steal. If you're searching for authentic, soul-warming Mexican cuisine, look no further. This is the real deal.

I have been eating here for over 9 years now. Never had bad food. Easily the best tasting food of any variety for 350 miles. If you want authentic, delicious street tacos, or sopes eat here. They have other entrée type menu items too.
I would eat tacos here every day if I had time.

Delicious authentic food. ❤️ We went on a Sunday so it was packed, but we still didn't have to wait for a table. Food tastes fresh, definitely recommend the tacos , quesadilla, and sopes.

The food is very good, I would go again, but the waitress who take are me was rude, when I asked her for some pastor quesadillas without pineapple, she sneered and said that asking her that was like asking for an soup with out onions! Personally, when a customer tells you what he wants, he is not judged no matter how strange the order is (I say this because I am also a waitress)

If you are looking for authentic Mexican this is it. When we saw the majority of the clientele were Mexican, we knew we were in the right place. They did not disappoint. Best I've had in the CSRA.

Carne asada dinners recently well seasoned, frijoles are esp delicious. We got these several times in couple months. Seasoning not always s good as at other times. If you don't like cactus, ask for "no nopales, por favor".

Amazing authentic tacos. The pastor and lenguq tacos i had were some of the best cooked and prepared ive tasted. Especially the lengua. Simple traditional tacos. Of course they have plenty of other things on the menu. Soups, plates, sopas etc. The staff is lively and friendly. Also make a lot of drinks in house like horchata. Great great place. So glad i stopped here!

This restaurant has been a go-to in the past but while their food was great, the service always severely lacked. I’d always looked past that due to the flavor served up. But today… with their profiles on Apple Maps stating they were open, we were disappointed to find them closed. Sadly, I have a hard time leaving a decent review for a business that is closed when they’ve listed they’re open after a half hour drive to get there. And… what self respecting restaurant is closed at 7:30 on a Saturday? Shame shame!
