A Tasty Food Trek Through Mott Haven, in the Bronx - Eater NY
"La Jefa, located at 237 Willis Avenue near 139th Street, is a reborn taqueria occupying a former Puerto Rican bar and nightclub. The venue features the same kitchen and offers food that can be ordered from a window and consumed at tables under the eaves." - Robert Sietsema
The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, and the service was great. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. From start to finish, it was a perfect dining experience.

I had a welcoming experience and recommend it. I ate a quesadilla al pastor and a modelo and enjoyed it within the outdoor seating. There was lively Mexican music playing as I watched delivery cyclist stroll down the Willis Ave protected bike lane. The prices are reasonable and they offer delivery. There are also to go stands, expect about 10-15 minutes for the food to be ready.

I have gotten food here for years. I ordered shrimp veracruzana and guacamole to go. The food was amazing. High quality. Delicious and enough that one dish was enough for both of us. So we have one whole plate left and can hardly wait to share that one as well. One of the best Mexican restaurants in New York.

This place is a rip off. They charge $10 for a Large Horchata, are they freaking insane?!? Food is okay but this place is overpriced. Won’t be coming back here…

Yelp
I've been going to this establishment for many years. It used to be called Santa Clarita and they changed owners and name. Despite the change the tacos are just as good. The hot sauce is also very good. The service is good and they remodeled it. It looks amazing.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood joint. We went on a Saturday night hoping to find a place that was not over crowded. Mott Haven has become quite the area for restaurant diversity. This place did not disappoint. Burrito Al Pastor was rockin' as were the Tacos Dorado and the Chilaquilles. But the real treat was the fresh, cold Jamaica! So thirst quenching!
We will be back!

Yelp
the food isn't the way it used to be before (santa clarita). la calabaza was sour and the meats had no taste at all, extremely bland. the only thing that seemed alright but not even worth the price was the sopes de chorizo ($4 each and its only with meat and cheese). I only went there as a last minute choice for a small family celebration but if I knew the results weren't going to be that good i wouldn't have taken my money there at all. really disappointed

Yelp
We had mushrooms quesadilla it was so good. We also had fluted chicken and cheese and chicken nachos. I would return when around the area. Mus try. It's a place we're all the locals go.

Yelp
Every time I order they give me a different price. When I ask for the receipt they state they can't give it to me and they refuse to let me speak to a supervisor or manager.
