Vegan Dining in Paris: How Restaurateur Alice Tuyet Is Transforming French Cuisine

"I adored La Joie, an unpretentious Sri Lankan spot in the 11th district — a joint venture by Florent Ciccoli and Minod Dilakshan — and have been back twice; the two curries I tried were fantastic, packed with flavor, impact and spot-on spices." - Marie-Noëlle Bauer

La Joie was such a fun surprise. I had never really explored Sri Lankan small plates before and this was a perfect introduction. Everything felt vibrant and comforting at the same time. The egg hopper is an absolute must order. The combination of the crisp edges the soft center and the sweet savory mix of the seeni sambol and pol sambol inside was incredible. It is one of those dishes you immediately want to order again. The chicken lollipops were another highlight. Lightly fried perfectly seasoned and still incredibly juicy. They come with a bright tomato sauce that cuts through the richness in the best way. I also highly recommend getting one of the curries along with extra garlic roti. The chicken curry was my favorite. It had this warm deep flavor that paired perfectly with the roti and I found myself wiping the bowl clean. La Joie is a great spot if you want something flavorful cozy and a little different from the typical Paris restaurant lineup. The food is delicious the vibe is relaxed and the whole experience left me wanting to explore even more Sri Lankan cuisine. Check it out if you are in Paris and want something truly memorable.

If you really want to taste a Michelin class Sri Lankan meal for a takeaway price, this is it. Absolutely everything on this menue is a création and a fusion of traditional Sri Lankan recipes, sans excessive Chillies, usually used by most Sri Lankans. Everything, absolutely everything is stunningly tasty and surprise the taste buds on each bite. I'll not comment individually about the different items proposed as they need more sophisticated writing style , to do justice to the chef. We were 4 and we ate everything on the menu that day with an awesome bottle of red wine, it was a revelation. I hope to go back, meet the owner / Chef in person as I'm certain that we will hear about him and his cooking in the culinary circles of Paris ,sooner than we think.

Last minute decision to have a solo dinner here and I’m so glad I did. Thoughtful Sri Lankan dishes done with subtle creativity. Everything was delicious and well cooked from the perfect egg hopper to the tasty chicken curry and turmeric ice cream (don’t skip dessert!) loved it and would 10/10 return.

My all time favorite place to heal with food that always makes me smile and feel great 😌 The hoppers, beer and naturals wines for the win. I love that they change their menu so often that keeps me discovering such a delicious, curated and different dish all the time !

Nice atmosphere, good flavors but the portions are way too small for the price and they should atleast serve rice with dal if you’re charging 12€ for it. Those tiny sticks done count for murukku, please add more. Other than that, it’s a nice ambiance and the waiters are nice.

I’m sorry to say I was not impressed :( the portions are incredibly small and the dishes, although very aesthetically pleasing, are very simple. Not great for veg options because for main plates there is only one choice (which is a super simple curry). The place is really cute though, very cozy and intimate.

First time in France a restaurant that takes Sri Lankan cuisine to the next level. The food is well prepared in keep touching with the French culinary art. The menu is wonderfully presented without any changes of original names of Sri Lankan dishes. Very satisfied with the way it is presented and there is no shortage of Sri Lankan flavors. we are really enjoyed. Thank you very much, congratulations chef and keep it up.

We were walking & wondering what to eat. We fell on to this tiny restaurant accidentally and went inside to try it. The food was amazing ,great quality and really low prices (for paris) excellent communication in English as we are foreigners and nice atmosphere. Totally recommend restaurant
