Great local Farmers Market with many great fruit and veg choices and a long list of artists showing their creative wares. The food has some amazing choices too and there is something g for everyone. A healthy walk from local beaches and hotels but parking is not easy, we had to circle around a few times to find a spot…thanks to the lady for giving us one right out front as she left!

This bustling farmers market opens every Sunday morning and is a lively place to be. The outer ring of the market feels more like an arts fair, with numerous stalls selling handmade crafts and various goods. The layout can be a bit confusing at first, but as you venture further in, you'll find the produce section with a decent selection and some stalls offering samples. It would be great if there were more variety in vegetables. Additionally, there's a plethora of ready-to-eat food options like bread, juices, and dips, and you'll also find several food trucks. It's a vibrant spot worth exploring for both groceries and a taste of local creativity.

LOOKIN' GOOD ! My wife and I were here last Sunday for the first time in years...we loved it. Now that we reside in La Jolla this farmers market is on our to do list. We arrived around 11am and it looked very packed out. After a big breakfast at Torrey Pines we weren't looking for lunch today. I dropped by to say hi to Max at Magnolia Kitchen...fabulous cookies. We basically wandered around checking out all the vendors. Top quality bread was on our list but we didn't find quite what we wanted. JEWELRY ! With our youngest grand daughter's birthday coming up my wife checked out Kamyi.Art Origami Designs. Julie the owner/ founder was very helpful. We selected a pair of pretty earrings and a lovely necklace. Julie was kind enough to place our purchase in a decorative bag. We paid by credit card and thanked Julie for her excellent service. STILL MORE TO SEE !

BACK AGAIN ! It's been a few years since my wife and I have checked out this farmers market...one of our favs. We moved to La Jolla just a couple of weeks ago after living in Orange County for 3 years. On Sunday we found a ( free ) parking spot in a side street and walked a short distance here. WOW ! The place looked much busier than years ago when we arrived around midday. NEW STUFF ! Of course we love finding new stuff particularly food. We had a nice chat with Max from Magnolia Kitchen and sampled some of this yummy looking cookies. The Espresso, Toffee, Chocolate & Sea Salt we later enjoyed at home tasted very good. LUNCH ! Kabuls Chicken ( Afghanistan cuisine ) looked like the perfect place to buy lunch. We chose 2 bowls of the grilled chicken with salad....it tasted fabulous. After that we cruised around a bit more before heading for home. FUN PLACE !

I am so jealous of my aunt who gets to enjoy this on a regular basis! If i lived anywhere near here I would be pouring money into this for sure. Great food and great people!

The food was off-the-charts good! The variety of pop-ups was just so perfect and fun. 🤗

Google
So this can be your perfect spot for lunch After a short hike along the magnificent Pacific shoreline. Arts and crafts are available and a variety of food stands will satisfy every palate: from pizza to grill, vegan and vegetarian options are available. There is a small sheltered siting area and a short walk away you can find a small playground for kids to run around. Prices are reasonable. Make sure you pay attention to the closing hours as at times 1pm is closing time.

Yelp
We came baccccckkkk and so happy we did! I think it was even bigger and better than last year. We sampled more food products and purchased more food to take back home with us. We sampled and purchased chimichurri and baklava. Both were fantastic! We had the baklava last year but didn't purchase it and completely regretted it. This year we were not making that mistake again. The chimichurri was new to us and it was fantastic! I got two jars, one was traditional and the other was serrano. We also got some succulent type plants that are called Shellyfish.. they are a seashell and the succulent looks like jellyfish legs. They are super cool! Of course we saved our appetites to eat brunch here. This time we got avocado toast and birria tacos. The avocado toast was topped with microgreens, goat cheese and balsamic glaze. It was wonderful! The birria was one of the best Ive had. It was served with crispy cheese on the outside of the tortilla. The guy making them had over cooked the cheese on a few of the tacos and was going to toss them but asked my son if he wanted them which of course he said yes. So we got three birria tacos for the price of one! The size was very generous and filling. We couldn't finish all three tacos with the samples we had eaten previously and the avocado toast also had. I wish we had farmers markets this good back in AZ. This is by far the best farmers market we have ever visited. AZ Farmers Markets should take note.

Yelp
LA JOLLA FARMER'S MARKET @ LA JOLLA Parking is ROUGH. Get there early because my friend and I came around 12pm (an hour before closing) and people were still finding parking. There are some available right out front but it's difficult to find. Id recommend finding street parking, both free and available most of the time. First time coming to the market, I saw many repeatable ones from other markets like Little Italy and Ocean Beach. I really love each of the stalls, especially the food ones, all do unique and delicious. I got a crazy mix dip with pita chips, quite the BEST for $14. My friend went to a dog stall, and the kind gentlemen gave us an incredible deal with dog treats! The only thing I disliked and give a one star is that some of these stalls are not local or authentically made! I saw a jewelry store that had lots of jewelry, not a friendly owner/worker, didn't greet anyone, and I asked her if she had handmade / her story behind this place, she said she didn't make a single one and it was just purchased around the world, which made me believe it's from cheap manufactures like Shein. I feel like there are many stores and places that HANDMAKE items from their heart, carve them, and make it so special for people to purchase. Other than that, every stall was incredible speaking with the owner, and seeing the work done right then and there!

Yelp
I love this market. It's organized and well spaced out, so it doesn't feel like everyone is on top of each other while walking around. Great variety of food trucks and produce, along with bakeries and specialty items.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome Sunday spot! Good options and fresh produce. The baby loved walking around and the vendors were great. I wish they had a few more cooked food options but other than that it is such an awesome thing to do!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a blast. So many vendors. We got the best matcha lattes from Find the Brew. Each one was made individually. The Pastrami Stand had amazing hot dogs. Mine came with shaved pastrami on top. The buns were so soft. We also got a Nutella filled donut from Bon Bon. It was overhyped. It wasn't warm and didn't taste fresh. Lastly we tried the Amapola Banana pudding. It was so yummy. Well organized farmers market with tons of seating and open lawn space.
google avatar

Yelp
So many amazing vendors and vegan options. There were at least 3 vendors that are fully vegan food businesses, and probably 4-5 others with delicious vegan options. Its in the heart of downtown La Jolla, so be patient looking for parking, and enjoy the process. I look forward to coming back anytime I'm in the area on a Sunday.

Yelp
So this is definitely a larger farmers market held every Sunday morning from 9AM until 1PM. It is held on the grounds of La Jolla Elementary School and proceeds from the farmers market go to help support the school. If you come early you might be able to snag a parking spot on Girard near the school otherwise you might need to drive a little bit around the neighborhood and walk a bit. On a recent visit when I walked over from where I was parked there were vendors along the sidewalk on Girard before I even got near the farmers market - selling all sorts of crafts and non food items. Once I got inside the actual farmers market I realized how big it was - took a while to walk the entire grounds before deciding what food vendor to get something from. This time around I settled on The Pastrami Stand - who I've also seen at the Leucadia Farmers Market. There are little groups of tables and chairs scattered throughout where you can sit down and eat whatever you bought from food vendors and there's also a bigger area on a field with a lot of tables and chairs under a shaded area. There was a group performing music near that shaded area that I listened to while enjoying my pastrami sandwich. Afterwards I strolled along a long row of produce vendors and got a few things here and there. Bathrooms - if needed - are located in a building off to the north of the produce vendors. This farmers market is worth a visit for sure!

Yelp
Came here for the first time to grab a pastrami sandwich from the pastrami stand and some bandanas for my dogs and the MIL's dog for Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised by this market, it was busy but when we went it didn't feel too crowded. Check out all the amazing vendors here, Barks & Crafts, Pastrami Stand are two of my favorite but I definitely want to come back and keep checking out everyone else.

Yelp
What a fantastic farmer's market! Love all the vendor options here, and all the fruits I've gotten here have been fantastic. There is also live music where there are tables to eat, and it's such a great environment. Definitely a place to check out by yourself and/or with family and friends!
google avatar

Yelp
Out of all the farmer's markets in San Diego, this one is definitely my favorite! They have a great mix of produce, artisans, food vendors, etc. I love the variety of goods you can find here! Parking is never too bad if you look in some of the neighborhoods. The Mexican food truck is an absolute must, amazing breakfast burritos!
google avatar

Yelp
Great customer service at the Hailey and me shop in the Open Aire Market. So excited for my friend. Today we spotted her dress for 50 percent off! I really like the service and spoke with the owners today about online shopping. They are terrific and handed me a card which I will picture
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best farmers markets in the San Diego area, very large lots of options, many vendors for both hot food, fresh produce and meat, and vendors for jewelry clothes housewares etc. worth a visit if you're from out of town, then go to the beach after! What a great Sunday

Yelp
I stopped by the La Jolla Open Aire Farmer's Market with my sister yesterday and loved it. The ambiance was relaxed and casual, which made it inviting and comfortable. The market itself was well laid-out and it was a good size featuring a good amount of vendors...food, snacks, produce, textiles, and more. I especially recommend trying: *Chili Mango Lemonade from Socal Lemonade...it's absolutely delicious and the owner is a sweet guy! *Vegan Pozole from My Pozole...it's customizable with various toppings and it tastes so good! *Anything from Ma And Jay Artisan Butter...fresh, delicious butters with various flavorings!

Yelp
I love our local farmers market. The vendors are really helpful and have great produce, food trucks and local artisans proudly display their creations. Most of all I love when the market management work with the vendors, La Jolla Elementary PTO and the Friends Foundation to create memorable lasting memories of wonderful events like the Harvest Festival. The market has the right level and mix of vendors and it's so lovely to see the same people each week. We love Sunday Mornings and if you are in town, it's a great place to come visit on Sunday mornings!
google avatar

Yelp
Another fun farmer's market in La Jolla area, parking not as bad as other farmer's markets. This one was also laid out like a mini maze, and was glad to see cherries were in season (from Fresno) as well as strawberries. Purchased a lot of fruits and veggies there and got a lesson on avocados. Was told that the Fuerte avocado was the most popular before Hass avocados came to town cause they couldn't be transported long distances and were prone to bruising easily vs a Hass which had a thicker skin. Nothing negative to say about this market, it has a lot of everything and non-pushy sellers. For sure will be back!

Yelp
Who doesn't love a farmers market! This is my first time going to the La Jolla, open air, farmers market and I really enjoyed it. As someone who frequents to downtown farmers market a lot this one had many food choices! Everything was yummy, but I especially loved the hummus stand . Workers and vendors are all friendly. This is a lovely way to start your Sunday mornings

Yelp
The La Jolla Open Aire Market has cultivated the finest local farmers, artisans, and food vendors to make up one of the best and the biggest Farmers Market in San Diego. Each Sunday nearly 150 vendors participate in the La Jolla Open Aire Market providing shoppers with bountiful choices in fresh, locally grown produce, international food, and unique handcrafted arts and gifts. The Open Market is fun for the whole family, come picnic on the field, enjoy the weekly musicians, and participate in our family fun days! Located at the corner of Girard St. & Genter Ave., At the La Jolla Elementary School this market occurs every Sunday from 9am to 1pm, rain or shine. All market proceeds benefit the children of La Jolla Elementary School. We loved strolling around and checking out the nice beautiful produce: Strawberries, Rhubarb, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Tomatoes, etc. Also some nice booths with freshly squeezed OJ, specialty oat and almond milk, CBD items, organic soaps, etc. The star of the show is the food truck area. We got some really yummy food like "Stuffed Hashbrowns", Empanadas, Chinese pork dumplings, and more. A great place to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning. Plenty of free parking in the nearby streets.
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute farmers market. Came here on Sunday around 9am and it wasn't so packed. There's a pretty good variety of vendors here. Prices are slightly higher since it is a farmers market. The crepe spot seems to be popular in the morning and it was delicious! The Mexican hot chocolate donut was pretty good too. There are a bunch of non food vendors along the street too, including fun dog related ones! Parking was fairly easy to find around this time. Would definitely come again!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing selection of exotic food, vendors, arts and crafts and a great way to mingle with the community. My kids love getting their fresh baguette, fruit and dumplings every week. The La Jolla Farmers market is our Sunday morning tradition now
google avatar

Yelp
I love the new version of the market now that they've moved back on to the school campus! They seem to have added more vendors! I work for the Athenaeum and we have enjoyed several years of cross collaboration. The market supports local non-profits -- this truly is a first class market that serves the community ! The managing staff are super friendly and helpful and that sets the tone for a happy market experience !
google avatar

Yelp
First time attending this farmers market a couple Sundays ago during a volunteer event witht he Produce Good non profit. I was helping them gather vegetables from various vendors and got very surprise with the generosity of such vendors, many from local farms. Apart of my experience as volunteer, I could see that everything was farm-to-market fresh. It was easy to find parking at a street nearby. Market was not super crowded but feels like in a corner with somehow strange layout for what I am used to. I like that there were many different food options and you can sit at the picnic tables listening to live music. Very pleasant.

Meg N.

Yelp
It was nice to have the experience shopping at a farmer's market, and it was wonderfully to support local farmers. The food options were also very good. However, I personally felt that it was a little bit small for my taste.
google avatar

Irene Q.

Yelp
Loved that the vendors were organized by section so it was to go all the hot food stands. We had the grilled cheese sandwich, dumplings, Brazilian hash browns (the chef's special with chorizo), cherry danish (delicious) and freshly squeezed orange juice. Must have the orange juice in a large container. It was so good. Everything we tried was well made and delicious! They had fresh produce, and even specialty fruits like cherimoya. Fresh, beautiful flowers. Live entertainment. Plenty of seating at the center of the market. Parking was limited. We parked two blocks down but the wall wasn't too bad. Overall, we enjoyed our treats and experience here. Will bookmark this for our next visit. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
7stars like the Burj. An ode to you- LJ Sunday Farmers Market 1. From community to delicious nourishing food and much in between. 2. The book seller offering loved books at a bargain well selected in excellent condition. You could also bring your books back for some credit. Children, section and adults. Many hardbacks too 3. Jewelry repair on the spot done with a smile by a very knowledgeable. Experienced expert find him next to the book cellar towards the far deeper end of the market - as if you were going deeper onto the playground 4. My two favorite food places that I literally dream of... The vegan sushi. His scallop roll is incredible. I miss it so much I would be a groupie following Chang and his colleague Kim to different farmers markets - that's how good they are. Rock 'n' roll vegan sushi makers. Oh, and the tamale bakers. I am so grateful to have a vegan mushroom tamale, both hot and ready to eat on site as well as some to take home. Definitely get the mild green sauce to bring home as well. This means they're tamales are made without lard so that's great for everyone no matter which one you get Oh, I should also mention the pozole seller offering a plant based all vegan option. Soooo yummy 5. Puppies? They often have an adopt a puppy on site as well. 6. Clothing, innovative, products, fresh produce, local producers, and a friendly family vibe at the La Jolla elementary school playground. I wish more farmers markets would offer such delicious food. Hint hint Santa Barbara.

Yelp
This is an excellent farmers market in La Jolla and they are open on Sunday from 9 am-1 pm. It's pretty big and they have some really interesting vendors. I found gluten-free cupcakes which are delicious! They have the best all he tuna ceviche I've had in a long time! The vendor is @reelstreettacos. Check it out!! I highly recommend this farmers market!!
google avatar

Avery B.

Yelp
i love this farmers market!!! they have all kinds of booths, including small businesses, farms and chain businesses! This farmers market is split into 3 different sections. Section one has food, including steamed pork buns, bread, chips, sushi, thai, boba, smoothies, coffee, etc! the third section has fresh produce, with good deals! i always come here to stock up of my veggies! My favorite booths include the permanent jewelry booth, the house of bao, hanamade and the fresh honey booth! Everyone is SUUPPPER friendly and a lot of the booths take all forms of payment, but some don't, so it's good to have cash on hand. This market is dog friendly and open sundays at 9am. Parking has no limit on sundays, but that also means getting there early gives you a better chance at finding a close spot. If you're fine with walking a little, parking won't be an issue however. I recommend you give this a try!

Patricia S.

Yelp
This market has been ruined over the past few months, ever since it went onto the school campus from the street. My favorite vendors no longer sell at this market, apparently due to the change in management. One of the employees, an old lady with colored hair, was extremely inappropriate and rude to me. Giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because of JR organics and Babe Kombucha being the best!
google avatar

Dilara C.

Yelp
Literally everything you can think of under the sun; spices and herbs, fresh produce, bread, coffees and teas, fresh kombucha...ALL OF IT! Stroll around La Jolla and check out all the amazing things it has to offer.
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
Wow this is one of the best farmers markets I've ever been too. The selection of fruits and vegetables was so good. The vendors are knowledgeable about what they recommend and also everyone has samples! I wouldn't have bought the gooseberries had I not gotten to try them. Large variety of gourmet food stands, all very unique. Fresh squeezed Valencia orange juice, and reasonably priced. I recommend not eating before you come and enjoy breakfast or lunch here. The bookstore was so lovely, ask the vendor what he recommends based on what you like. Great kids books too for great prices. All books were in new or very new condition.

A.B. K.

Yelp
What a delightful way to spend a Sunday morning!! My kiddo always wants to go get his chocolate croissant or yummy dumplings. Throw in a delicious lemonade to boot! I enjoy all the beautiful and fresh produce I can stock up on for the entire week. It's an enjoyable experience for locals and tourists alike with lots of great vendors for food, crafts, clothing, and lively music. Everyone is so nice too. And the fact that it helps out the local public school is a terrific bonus! Go check it out if you haven't yet, it's a treat!!
google avatar

Jo C.

Yelp
Initially I was going to pass on this market since there aren't that many reviews nor do the pics look like it's a big market. But I decided to give it a go and arrived around 11AM and finding parking was extremely difficult because it's busy! Anyways I"m so glad I gave this market a chance because I was overwhelmed in a good way with all the different stalls coming from different directions! It's not like the typical where it's lined in rows, more like a 2-3 stalls beside each other but in different sections of the enclosed market. They not only sell fresh produce but also original/artisanal crafts, clothes, food plus food stalls to grab a bite. There's also live music when I went in different sections and several benches to eat. Each stall is also different not like selling the same/similar things, which is nice. I'll definitely be coming back.

Jm L.

Yelp
Had such an enjoyable experience at the LJ Open Aire Farmer's Market yesterday! I love the sense of community and seeing people of all ages mingling. WOW the food court options are amazing and loved the live entertainment too. Veggies and Fruits and Honey... all top notch at reasonable prices. Boutiques, Handmade items, a bounty for my upcoming holiday purchases. Recommend Highly! So much to experience.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Highlight of my Sunday! This is my favorite farmers market in San Diego. I love hillcrest and little Italy as well but the community feel at this location with seating sprinkled into different areas really takes it over the top. The produce is reliable, the vendors are fun and interesting, the food stands are exceptional. I love the veggie dumplings at House of Bao, I always get the fresh ceviche from the stand as well, and the Thai food is heaven. Feeling so lucky to have this thriving market going strong!

Elizabeth ..

Yelp
When I ask my 7 year old daughter what she wants to do on the weekend, the LJ Farmers Market is always a nonnegotiable -- every time! The vendors are so friendly and it helps to have a playground to burn some energy during shopping and eating. Our top stops: Juicy Jerky (best school snack for the week ahead), chocolate croissants, gooseberry and raspberry baskets, coffeeeeee (for mom!), and a used book from Street Smart. Plus I can't remember the vendor's name but the butcher in white truck sells the best quality meat. I not to mention the beautiful weather of La Jolla - on the best days we head right to the beach after.

Linda W.

Yelp
I have been going to this farmers market for 10 years and it was amazing. They did a great job with accommodating the school's construction and moving the market out onto the street, but since it has moved back on the campus, this place has seriously gone downhill. Clearly something has changed here, as whoever is "in charge" let's high school "employees" run the place, and they allow dogs to roam around freely even with many signs saying no dogs are allowed. Frankly, it's gotten quite gross as I've seen dogs urinating within the market and licking produce that unsuspecting customers are buying and consuming. Yuck!
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
immense and huge selection of produce, food, plants, clothes, jewelry. Once of the most well rounded farmers markets i've ever been to. HIGHLY recommend it. Great place to go on Sundays.
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
My favorite farmers market! Always a good selection of fruits/ veggies and small business vendors including jewelry, used books, plants, etc.
google avatar

Jer H.

Yelp
Great people! Good food options! Fresh produce! We loved it! Especially the pita chips and hummus!
google avatar

Betty B.

Yelp
Great vendors, vibes, food (yum). I always leave with a tone of goodies and with a full belly, no parking really but highly suggest if you are able to walk to it

Julie G.

Yelp
I love walking around this area and go to this market a lot, but there isn't much variety. It's La Jolla so expensive items are expected, but it would be nice to see more vendors/variety. I have gone to this market maybe 10 times and have never bought anything, but it's pleasant to walk around and they have live music
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
one of the bigger farmer's market is San Diego, with TONS of foods, drinks, specialty item vendors! I loved the pazole vendor. there are tables and chairs scattered across for sitting and eating. hard to find parking but well worth the visit.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
The only farmers market that has a doggie lounge outside for you to leave your dog with doggie staff while you shop! The best dog mom/dog dad market everrrr! Also the new Doctors Daughters booth has the best plant based vegan ice cream sandwiches and overnight oats. Lastly, the fresh elixir made with tumeric, Carlsbad alkaline water, ginger , apple cider vinegar is amazing!
google avatar

Vin S.

Yelp
I really like bargains, and this Farmer's market has a few. But some things are priced on the very high side. Then again, your selection of produce is pretty good, and there are plenty of food trucks, jewelry and handicraft sellers, artists and various other nic-nacs to one's heart's desire! The market has grown outside of its original space, and is now spilling down the sidewalk - the more the merrier! I come once every few months. The parking is not too bad if you arrive later in the morning, This market opens at 9;00 and goes to 1:30 or so (with some vendors closing up early). So give this a try next time you in the La Jolla Village area. It is a nice walk either to or from here to the beach, anyway. So make it a day!
google avatar

Leo C.

Yelp
This is my go-to farmers markets in San Diego. Rain or shine this market is open. The selection here is out of this world. Local farmers come out here and showcase all their products and produce. From fresh uni to seasonal strawberries you're sure to find it here. I've seen micro greens sold here that were the same ones you would find at your favorite fine dining destination. I love going here because I can stock up on produce for the week at a better price than any of the local supermarkets. All the vendors are super nice and super helpful. Go to the la Jolla open air Farmers market is one of my favorite things to do on the weekend because I get to go out to the beach and enjoy the fruits of my shopping at any of the nearby beaches. Parking can be a little tough at times but stay patient because parking is available on the streets.
google avatar

Natalia A.

Yelp
Love coming here to grocery shop for the week. Get there early so you can buy all the goodies that usually sell out quick. Parking isn't as bad as other farmers markets in SD. They sell food, clothing, jewelry, produce, flowers, etc. so you definitely have options & the sellers aren't pushy either! Dog & kid friendly No complaints, will keep coming back!
google avatar

Jerald M C.

Yelp
Nice variety of friendly venders produce prepared foods etc. I always enjoyed walking around the market!!!
google avatar

Lawrence C.

Yelp
If I lived nearby, this would be a basic stop on my routine for fruit and vegetable shopping. And the selections of food vendors to buy prepared foods is pretty good too. There's a number of tables available enabling 50 people to sit down and eat their food. Policy at this market also STRICTLY PROHIBITS dogs, and this is enforced. 5 STARS for this!!!!! Parking is problematic. May have to walk 2-3 blocks, or more. Just circle a few times if that's an issue.
